Are you ready for a new beginning? MTV surely is. And the network is hoping viewers feel the same way. On Sunday night, not long after Spencer Pratt and company came together on the red carpet of the MTV Video Music Awards for a reunion photo, MTV made the announcement many had been waiting to hear for months: THE HILLS IS COMING BACK! As you can see above, Spencer and Heidi Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Jason Wahler, Justin Bobby, Stephanie Pratt and Frankie Delgado all showed up for the annual awards ceremony, causing some fans to think this mere red carpet gathering would be the only reunion they'd see for awhile. But they were sorely (and awesomely?) mistaken. Midway through the VMAs, MTV ran the promo featured here. It teased a revival of the former reality series that will apparently be titled The Hills: New Beginnings . And why not, we guess, right?!? Last Man Standing is coming back this fall. So is Murphy Brown. Netflix has found success with Fuller House and MTV itself has found enormous success with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. So … why not The Hills? According to a network press release, this new version of The Hills will reunite original cast members, alongside their kids, friends and returning favorites, while following their personal and professional lives while living in Los Angeles. It is scheduled to premiere in 2019. In the first preview for the program, footage of Los Angeles plays as Stephanie is heard saying, “It’s like we’re all growing up. It’s weird.” That's not really weird. That's sort of just how life works. But Heidi and Spencer have a son now and that is really weird! Only one question now remains: Will Lauren Conrad appear on the reboot? It doesn't sound that way. “I don’t think I would do another show that involved my family,” Conrad told HuffPost earlier this year, adding: “I spent a lot of years on a show focused on my personal life, so I don’t think I’d do it again.” Oh well. The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards proved that both Jennifer Lopez and Madonna pretty much never age or change. The former was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony and also put on an incredible performance that showed off her dance moves and her ridiculous body. The latter, meanwhile, stood on stage and was tasked with paying tribute to Aretha Franklin, the truly legendary singer who passed away last week from cancer . But most viewers think she made this tribute all about herself. Following a video of Franklin’s “I Say a Little Prayer” on a big screen, members of the audience – including Lopez and Camila Cabello – were reduced to tears as they remembered the iconic artist. Madonna then spent her segment in front of the crowed rambling on about the impact Franklin had on her career. This maybe, possibly could have worked. Madonna could maybe, possibly have brought everything back around and used her tale as a way to depict the enormous impact Aretha had on the entire music industry. Instead, though, she barely even mentioned Franklin by name. At one point, for example, Madonna shared her experience at an audition where she sang Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” in a last-minute decision after she had failed to bring sheet music or prepare another song. Okay… She explained that she ended up belting out this track “by heart,” acapella. And then said that the two men for whom she was auditioning didn’t believe “some skinny-ass white girl” was going to “[sing] a song by one of the greatest soul singers that ever lived.” No one watching had any idea what this had to do with Franklin herself. It just sounded like Madonna giving herself a great deal of props. Social media was quick to erupt with criticism for the strange, self-serving way in which The Material Girl essentially ignored the entire point of this Franklin tribute. Madonna did end up saying at least a few nice words about Franklin. She concluded her rambling speech as follows: “I want to thank you, Aretha, for empowering all of us. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Long live the queen.” But the damage had already been done. Some folks are even calling for an apology to be issued, as explained by these two individuals on Twitter: I hope the vmas plan to issue a public apology for allowing Madonna to disrespect Aretha Franklin’s legacy like that #VMAs. “I’m so lost. The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 13 Episode 6 confirmed what we all expected: Shannon Beador’s relationship with her delusional ex-husband, David is in tatters. The 53-year-old revealed that David thought she was doing everything in her power to try and turn the tide against him in the courtroom. Shannon has been open up about David’s abuse and kept all of the details in the court filings, but this further scared her. “I feel like I’m walking into the unknown,” she said after saying she worried about how it “might set him off.” She then met up with her lawyer Ben and continued to worry about what could happen. “I don’t know what David I’m going to see today,” she said. “My wish is that a weight is going to be lifted off my shoulders after this court date. My reality is telling me, nah, it’s just gonna make things worse,” she admitted, adding: “He’s not going to be happy no matter what decision is made.” Things went Shannon’s way in the courtroom, and she called Tamra Judge to let her know her thoughts on it after admitting she was “shaken up, emotional, and just very uneasy.” That would certainly make one think it did not go her way, but it really did. “I don’t even have any words for it,’ she said through tears. “‘The judge ordered him to pay me a lot of money every month — $30,000-a-month.” However, we quickly learned why Shannon was so shaken up. “We went out in the hallway, and David came around the corner where I was talking to Ben, and he just went off on Ben and me.” “And Ben had to scream for the bailiff. He was so livid. He came around the corner and said, ‘You f*****g happy Ben?’” It certainly sounds like an awkward encounter, to say the least, but Shannon opted to throw her devious ex a bone. She said that she agreed to lower the $30,000 pay down to $22,500 “because that’s what I need at this point.” “So we went back into the courtroom, and he was shaking with anger. If anything, I was fair in cutting down the order. I just want him out of my life,” she continued. It’s great that Shannon has her friends at her side, but we learned early into the episode that the texts could be the thing that saved her case. Mercuriadis, who also managed artists including Guns N’ Roses, Elton John, and Diane Warren, won’t just be aiming to buy tracks from Bey though. It looks like his company looking to gain “eight catalogs from well-known songwriters, spanning over 1,000 songs, including more than 10 Number 1s in the U.K. and U.S.” according to Billboard . Before the fundraiser took place, a former IPO named Adele, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West as potential musician catalogs to go after. “I believe that the song, even more so than the artist, is the most important component in a hit record,” Mercuriadis said. “I’ve spent the better part of the last 35 years advocating for great artists, songwriters and producers and my ambition is to grow the fund not only to provide great returns for our investors but equally well in due course to create the leverage that only critical mass can provide to change the songwriters position in the economic model.”
