Alaskan Bush People Fans: Don’t Close Browntown! Honor Ami Brown’s Dream!

Alaskan Bush People ‘s seventh and final season promised to include the biggest challenge and darkest moments yet in the series about a family roughing it in the wilderness. Rumor proved true when Ami Brown’s lung cancer diagnosis was revealed. Now fans of the family and the series have another concern about the family’s fate, and this time the worries are about the entire Brown clan. You’d think that a television series that began right after their old home had been burned to the ground (for being on public land illegally) would end on a happier note than it began. But that’s not how things always work out in life. Especially not when we’re talking about people who are dedicated to living in the wilderness. Ami Brown is receiving treatment in the “lower 48,” meaning in the US but not in Alaska (or Hawaii). Obviously, with such heavy news and the final season of the series, there’s been talk of the Brown family closing down Browntown and rejoining civilization. Billy Brown said as much. And that is the new source of concern among some of the fans. You might think that fans of the series, knowing that the series is ending anyway and wanting the best for the Brown family, would rejoice at that news that the Brown family would rejoin civilization. (While, of course, still grieving for Ami Brown’s diagnosis) But their reaction has actually been the opposite . Fans use Facebook groups to discuss the series. It’s understandable that they’ve become intensely attached to these people after watching them for so many years. What’s a little more perplexing is the fan reactions to learning that the Brown family is all reportedly living in the lower 48. Fans of Alaskan Bush People are asking the Brown family children to return to Browntown , because fans believe that it will honor the dedication and dreams of their parents. They even hope that Noah’s fiancee, Rhain, will join the Brown family in the wilderness. This speaks volumes about these particular fans. In part, it says that they’ve become attached to Ami and Billy and their dream and lifestyle, rather than just to the younger characters. There’s arguably a romantic quality to the idea of living in the woods and making it on your own. People love The Hunger Games , after all. But those books and films are pretend. The problem in Alaskan Bush People is that they had kids and raised their children in that way of life. Kind of hard to get a fair start in life when you spend a lot of your childhood in temporary shelters, you know? Regardless, they’re now (mostly) adults and reality stars and they’re all starting new chapters in their lives. It’s more than a little unsettling to see so many fans wanting them to not do that. What the Brown family members deserve is to live their own lives. We’re sure that they’ll all have more opportunities in the future based on their existing fame. Everybody could get a book deal, for starters. Noah and Rhain can do their alternative/goth thing wherever their lives take them. If this were happening a few years ago, we’d suggest that Bear Brown might get some modeling gigs. Sometimes fans grow too attached the idea of the show and not the people. If the folks on Naked and Afraid stayed on the show for more than half a decade, fans would probably be upset when it came time for them to put on clothes. Fandom’s a weird thing, and endings are always bittersweet. View Slideshow: 27 Reality Stars Who Died Way Too Young

Will Smith Breaks Down His And Jada’s Parenting Philosophy

Will Smith Breaks Down His And Jada’s Parenting Philosophy It’s not secret that Will and Jada’s kids are a bit…different than the average child. Already both creatives with acting and song credits under their belts, well-known for their eclectic styles and artistic streak, and habits toward philosophying on even the simplest isht, Willow and Jaden were clearly cultivated to embrace their every thought and whim. E! News got down to the nitty-gritty of Will and Jada’s parenting style with quotes from over the years detailing what they do as parents that might be just a bit different than the average Mommy and Daddy out here. For one, the Smiths don’t believe in “punishment” for their kids in a traditional sense. As Will said in 2013 : “We don’t do punishment. The way that we deal with our kids is, they are responsible for their lives. Our concept is, as young as possible, give them as much control over their lives as possible and the concept of punishment, our experience has been—it has a little too much of a negative quality.” “So when they do things—and you know, Jaden, he’s done things—you can do anything you want as long as you can explain to me why that was the right thing to do for your life.” And they also give their minis an open forum to speak frankly with them: “They’re allowed to tell us everything that they did [in the circle of safety], and they can’t get in trouble. The rule is, if we find out after the circle of safety that there was something you didn’t say, there was hell to pay.” Granted, we aren’t sure what “hell to pay” really means when there’s no punishment. But he’s big on letting the kids be who they are: “What I do with my children, that I feel that the greatest gift that I can give my children is the freedom to be who they are. [My wife] and I are very serious about finding what they are, and encouraging them to be what they are because you can never be happy being what you’re not.” And ultimately, the Smiths don’t believe in treating their kids as possessions or extensions of them…but as individuals and equals: “I think that, specifically in African American households, the idea coming out of slavery, there’s a concept of your children being property and that was a major part that Jada and I released with our kids. We respect our children the way we would respect any other person. Things like cleaning up their room. You would never tell a full-grown adult to clean their room, so we don’t tell our kids to clean their rooms. We tell our kids, ‘You don’t have a room, that’s our room and we are letting you borrow it.’ So the same way you would say to an adult if you let them use your car, you say, ‘Yo man, clean my car! Don’t drive around all filthy like that!’ And it’s perfectly reasonable for you to want an adult to clean your car, so we feel it’s perfectly reasonable to ask our kids to clean the rooms that we are letting them use.” Interesting! What do you think of the Smiths’ parenting practices?? Splash/WENN

Jerry Seinfeld Under Fire for Inappropriate Black Lives Matter Joke!

Jerry Seinfeld has really done it this time. If you thought Michael Richards’ infamous and incredibly racist rant was bad … no, actually Michael Richards’ rant was unquestionably worse. But still, Jerry messed up big time. See, Jerry has this web series called Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The premise is that Jerry drives around a comedian and they talk about things while — you guessed it! — drinking coffee. The latest episode of the show features Lewis Black, which is great, that’s fine. But here’s how he chose to promote it: “New! Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. Lewis Black,” he wrote. Then, horror of all horrors, he actually added “Black’s life matters.” Because sure, why not make a pun out of a movement that began as an attempt to stop racism and police brutality ? That sounds like a marvelous idea, doesn’t it? Now, of course what Jerry said wasn’t unforgivable or anything — he didn’t joke about the actual movement, he just used it for a dumb pun. But it’s just not the time. He should have known that, and he probably did, he just didn’t particularly care . And people all across Twitter all calling him out for it. “What the f-ck Jerry” wrote one confused follower, while another simply said “Yikes.” “Who’s writing your tweets now?” someone asked. “The Breitbart humor section staff?” A fan told him that “This is worse than the finale of Seinfeld which I still don’t like” — totally fair — while another wrote “Not f-cking funny! Would you find humor in a joke about the holocaust?”, which seems a little extra. One follower acknowledged Jerry’s hatred of political correctness, writing “Hey I know you think college kids are too PC but I’m in my 30s and this crap was really offensive and lame.” But speaking of being too PC, just as many of Jerry’s followers were offended that people were offended at Jerry’s joke. “PC police coming for you with their fake outrage,” someone warned him. Another suggested that “The PC people need to remove their stick.” One fan played both sides of the issue, writing “Huge supporter of BLM and I laughed. Guess I can separate a serious social movement from a pun by a comedian.” “Malcom X would be outraged! JK This is literally the least offensive tweet of all time,” one follower claimed. Another person got way too outraged and actually wrote “The Left wants to destroy comedy. They are speech nazis and fascists. Keep on doing you Jerry! Don’t let haters win.” As of now, Jerry still hasn’t deleted the tweet in question, and we’d be very surprised if he did. View Slideshow: 19 Total and Complete Twitter Fails
