Movieline Premieres the Jackie-licious Poster for Smash His Camera

Right off the line, still hot to the touch and redolent of that sexy new-poster smell, the one-sheet for Smash His Camera has landed exclusively in Movieline’s driveway. The documentary profiles self-anointed “paparazzo superstar” Ron Galella through nearly five decades of getting up close and personal (maybe too personal) with some of the most famous celebrities in the world. Oscar-winner Leon Gast took home Sundance’s Best Documentary Directing prize for the film following its premiere in January, when even Robert Redford himself spoke of that one time — and I do mean only one time — he outwitted Galella.

Michael Caine Says Batman 3 Shooting in April

Never trust Gary Oldman again . While on the press circuit for The Book of Eli in 2009, Commissioner Gordon told reporters that Christopher Nolan would begin shooting Batman 3 this year with an eye toward a 2011 release. Bzzzt! Not according to Michael Caine. The coolest actor alive — seriously, right guys? — told reporters at the London premiere of Inception that Nolan was planning to shoot his sequel to The Dark Knight in April. Take that with the giant grain of salt it deserves, but hey — an April shoot could mean the finished product will be hit theaters just in time for the superhero apocalypse in the summer of 2012. Andrew Garfield, get ready to shake in your Spidey-tights. After the jump, video of Caine — who also offers a slight spoiler on his role in Inception .

NBC Congratulates Conan on Emmy Nod

You can bet that NBC publicists thought long and hard this morning how to handle Conan O’B rien’s Emmy nomination for The Tonight Show . Instead of ignoring their former employee’s success, they waited until media outlets asked them for a response, then offered the following half-hearted pat on the back : “We congratulate Conan and all our nominees on their creative accomplishments and their deserved nominations.” [ THR ]

SHOCKER: Avatar Returning to Theaters in August with New Footage

OK, maybe not much of a shocker: After Avatar was released on a flimsy and featureless DVD back in April with promises of a more lavish, extended edition this fall, one could only presume that meant a theatrical return to Pandora was in the cards for late summer. And lo and behold, Fox has announced that the highest grossing movie of all-time will add even more money to its coffers when Avatar returns to theaters Aug. 27 with eight minutes of new footage. So which movies opening that weekend will stand in James Cameron’s way and prevent Avatar from reaching No. 1 at the box office for an eighth time since December?

Law & Order: L.A. Casts Skeet Ulrich

Bad news, James Van Der Beek fans and board members of the Dean Cain Fan Club . It looks like Law & Order: Los Angeles has finally found its leading man: Former Jericho star Skeet Ulrich. The Poor Man’s Johnny Depp will star as Rex Winters, an ex-marine with a porn-ready name whose experiences during the Rodney King riots “shaped his philosophy on policing.” He’s also married to his ex-partner. Issues! Of course, Ulrich’s current partner hasn’t been cast yet, but that just means there’s still a chance it could be Master P. Or Danica McKellar . Get on this, NBC. [ EW ]

Richard Dreyfuss Heads to Weeds

If you were wondering which of the 5 Movieline-approved stars would be the first to pull ahead in the race to be the next Betty White, here’s your answer: Richard Dreyfuss. The veteran actor has signed on for four episodes of Weeds to play an “unexpected character” from Nancy Botwin’s (Mary Louise-Parker) past. So, her father. Also guest starring on the Showtime series this season: Mark Paul-Gosselaar, Alanis Morissette, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Peter Stormare and Linda Hamilton. Talk about a motley crew.
