Alex Pettyfer and Riley Keough are engaged. The actor – who has previously dated Emma Roberts and Dianna Agron – met the granddaughter of Elvis Presley (yes, that Elvis Presley!) on the set of Magic Mike , an upcoming film in which Pettyfer stars as one of several male strippers. They were first spotted together in October and a source now confirms to Us Weekly that the ring Keough was seen wearing earlier today is, indeed, in honor of the couple’s engagement. We wish this couple a lifetime of happiness!
Josh Hutcherson, Alex Pettyfer and Hunter Parrish appear to be the front-runners, but nothing is confirmed yet. By Christina Garibaldi Alex Pettyfer Photo: Getty Images Last week, MTV News exclusively revealed that Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence landed the highly coveted role of Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” Experts and fans were mixed on the thought of the tall, blond 20-year-old taking on the role of the 16-year-old, dark-haired heroine, but it seems like Jennifer can rest easy for now, since the debate has shifted to who will play fellow Hunger Games competitor Peeta. “It’s definitely going to be someone close to her age,” Down With the Capitol administrator Theresa Morgan told MTV News. “I think it will make it easier to cast someone for Peeta.” Many names have already been thrown into the mix, including “The Kids Are All Right” star Josh Hutcherson , who confessed he has met with director Gary Ross. “I love Peeta,” Hutcherson told Entertainment Weekly. “The character is so much who I am — self-deprecating, a people person. And he’d be such a great character to play!” Hutcherson seems to be a front-runner for the District 12 male tribute, but he will have some stiff competition from Alex Pettyfer and fan favorite Hunter Parrish . “We love Josh Hutcherson,” the Hob administrator Megan Scott said. “There’s Alex, who I really like, but Hunter is a huge fan favorite. When I think of these guys with Jennifer, they all go well together.” “Our whole site thinks Hunter will be perfect,” Morgan said. “He looks the role and acts the role. A lot of people are thinking he sounds like Peeta.” Ross might agree, since Parrish recently told E! Online he has met with the movie’s producers. “I’d be grateful to get the opportunity,” he said. “Like, really grateful. It would be amazing.” Not everyone’s convinced that these leading contenders are right for the coveted “Hunger Games” role. “My favorite for Peeta is Callan McAuliffe,” Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West said about the “I Am Number Four” newcomer. “I think he has the acting chops, he’s relatively unknown, and he has that warm quality that Peeta has.” Who do you think should get the role of Peeta in “The Hunger Games”? D.J. Caruso and stars Alex Pettyfer and Timothy Olyphant discuss which is the better fantasy character. By Kara Warner Alex Pettyfer and Teresa Palmer in “I Am Number Four” Photo: DreamWorks If one were to pinpoint a particular fantasy character that has dominated pop culture over the past few years, most people would agree that vampires have taken center stage as the mythological figure of the moment. However, with extreme popularity often comes a point of overexposure. Not that we’ve reached that point yet with the fang fixation, but there are other creatures waiting in the wings. Take the new alien-adventure movie “I Am Number Four,” for example, which showcases a sexy new take on the stereotypical green Marvin the Martian-type aliens. When MTV News caught up with the film’s director, D.J. Caruso, and stars Alex Pettyfer and Timothy Olyphant recently, we posed them an important question: Are aliens the new vampires? “I didn’t notice aliens kind of going in and out of fashion,” said Olyphant, who plays mentor Henri to Pettyfer’s Number Four (John Smith). “Where vampires kind of come and go, aliens, in general, it’s a broader palette, so they’ve been around,” he explained. Caruso said: “I’d take aliens over vampires any day. Aliens are much more intriguing.” The “Disturbia” director agreed with Olyphant’s sentiments about extra-terrestrial longevity. “Aliens have always been around,” he said. “Vampires: They’re wearing out.” Plus, while vampire stories are based in fiction, we can’t say for certain whether life exists on other planets or in other galaxies. On the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe, Pettyfer said, “There’s got to be something out there — one way or another.” Caruso agreed: “I think there’s something else out there. I can’t imagine that God’s just allowing this one planet to function; I think he’s got a bunch of experiments floating around.” Check out everything we’ve got on ” I Am Number Four.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
It is an exciting time for Alex Pettyfer. Based on the box office performance of his first big budget film, I Am Number Four — which premieres tomorrow — the 20-year-old English model-turned-thesp could join Robert Pattinson in the ranks of hunky, tortured heartthrobs. Like Pattinson’s Twilight character, Pettyfer plays a sensitive-yet-inhuman high school student at once trying to fit in, overcome supernatural obstacles, and win the heart of his mortal crush (played by Pettyfer’s real-life-girlfriend Dianna Agron). And with the sci-fi thriller’s all-star pedigree — D.J. Caruso directed while Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay produced — I Am Number Four is indeed poised to carry the handsome Pettyfer from verge to vampire-level popularity.

Nothing can liven up a fairly dull day like a brand-new trailer. Unfortunately for everyone, the first look at Terrence Malick’s forever-gestating Tree of Life is only attached to theatrical copies of Black Swan (see it, see it, see it) and not yet online. (Though that hasn’t stopped some outlets from falling prey to ambitious pranksters.) So without Sean Penn and Brad Pitt to warm our cockles on a chilly Friday, we’re left with Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Pettyfer and Mary-Kate Olsen, as some devil woman in an updated version of Beauty & The Beast ? Oh, come on .
Dianna Agron, 24, who plays Quinn Fabray on the Fox hit, has been spotted looking cozy with actor Alex Pettyfer, 20. The two are currently filming the Sci-fi flick I Am Number Four, based on a novel with the same title. Pettyfer also stars alongside Vanessa Hudgens in the recently completed film Beastly. When it comes to dating rumors surrounding the Glee cast, it seems like the show#39;s stars are only associated with each other. But in the case of Dianna Agron, it looks like she#39;s found a
As if it wasn’t enough that Anna Paquin has every creature in Bon Temps throwing himself at her, she’s decided to expand her horizons even further. In a new PSA for the Give a Damn campaign, an LGBT rights project started by Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund, the True Blood actress comes out as bisexual. Inspired today in the writers room, Alan Ball is asking, “What do we think about a Sookie/Tara fling?” Luckily, a story editor is there to sensibly reply, “Only if we can make Tara a rabid were-fairy first.” Video, after the jump:
Who is Alex Pettyfer? All of the following: a 19-year-old British actor whose biggest credit is the British flop Stormbreaker , the ex-boyfriend of actress Emma Roberts, the lead in the upcoming “Mary-Kate Olsen is a witch” fantasy Beastly , the muse to photographer Greg Gorman ( NSFW ! ), and this week, the man cast in the coveted title role of the DJ Caruso-directed sci-fi epic I Am Number Four . And now you know! [ Variety ]
