Quote Of The Day: Plaxico Burress Says Mike Vick “Gave Me Hope, Joy”

Plaxico Burress is fresh out of jail and ready to get back to work. In an interview with NFL Network’s NFL Total Access, the disgraced wide receiver talked about getting his life back on track and his surprise at his tough sentence. Check out some quotes below: On Being Hit With The Book: “Yes, I was (shocked at sentence). To be honest, I thought — at the most — I would probably do maybe four to six months based on a reckless endangerment charge or whatever it may be. But they just kinda pulled out all the whips and, you know, stacked everything on me. It was tough to fathom. It was like, ‘Why is this happening?’ At that time, it was just so many different emotions going through your mind, and it was unbelievable.” “I woke up that morning and had a nice breakfast in the hotel. And I went to court, and I was in jail like two hours later. And, like, everything that you had was just taken away from you just that quick. It was unexplainable.” Welcome to being Black in America Plaxico. You should’ve been prepared for the worst. Plax says visits and support from his wife, former NFL coach Tony Dungy, and former Giants teammates Brandon Jacobs, David Tyree, Osi Umenyiora, Gibril Wilson, Michael Strahan and Amani Toomer helped him through the “the lowest point in my life.” He’s already working to clean up his image by joining forces with the National Urban League and the Brady campaign educating people about the dangers of firearms. “If I can just stop one child from not taking a firearm out of the house or never put his hand on a gun, you know, I’ve served my purpose,” he said. Hmmm so we guess this means he won’t be walking around strapped any more. Too bad he had to literally shoot himself (and his career) in the leg to figure that out. Surprisingly enough, despite Plax’s two season hiatus, he also says he never thought his career was in jeopardy… We guess we can see why. The NFL deals with all kinds of problem children — as long as you don’t hurt dogs nobody is gonna get all crazy right? Speaking of which, Plax says he’s drawn a lot of inspiration from Michael Vick: “When I was going through everything legally, I did get a chance to talk to him a few times,” said Burress. “He was just telling me to stay strong, and everything will work itself out. And to just see him go out on a football field and do so many things that he’s been able to do to take his game to the next level as a quarterback, and pretty much going through a situation similar to mine with being away from the football game for two years — it gave me hope, joy. … I’ve been a big fan of him ever since high school.” Aw doesn’t that just warm your heart? For his family’s sake, Plax better hope he can have a Vick type comeback. Keep reading for Plax’s top picks for where he’d like to get his second chance as an NFL player…

Heidi Montag Recalls Plastic Surgery Horrors

Heidi Montag, who infamously underwent more than 10 operations in one day , is sharing the painful memories and emotions of a journey for perfection. In an ABC Primetime Special titled “Celebrity Plastic Surgery Gone Too Far?” airing last week, the plastic princess said she felt she would “die out of pain!” “I thought that first night that I came out of the hospital I was going to die out of pain,” Heidi Montag recalls now. “I looked like I was hit by a truck.” We can’t believe it either, Heidi. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com] She says after the trauma , “I couldn’t event go to the bathroom. I couldn’t even walk for days. My face was so swollen. My back was so black and blue.” Montag has now confirmed most, if not all, of her surgeries this year: Nose job Brow lift Chin shaving Back scooped out Ears pinned back Lipo on inner/outer thighs Fat injected into her cheeks Absolutely hilarious, FREAKISHLY GIGANTIC breast implants The Hills star is heaping blame on her surgeon, the late Dr. Frank Ryan, but people close to him say she’s obsessed and wouldn’t take no for an answer. “I do not feel like I was prepared enough for this,” Montag said. “How can you know when your doctor says it’s just a little this, it’s just a little that.” “It really becomes a lot. Doctors should walk you through all aspects of it not just the glamorous side of it,” she says, with serious buyer’s remorse. A friend of Ryan’s says that contrarily, she was not only taking her obsession with plastic surgery way too far, she was obsessed with him personally. She also wanted him to make her a human Barbie doll. “He sent texts and emails saying she wanted to be Barbie, to look exactly like Barbie,” a friend said, adding that Ryan tried to talk her OUT of it.

Lil Wayne: A Closer Look At His First Day Behind Bars

‘The best thing to do in the first 24 hours is to keep your mouth shut as much as possible,’ one expert says. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Andy Kropa/ Getty Images Lil Wayne has been booked and processed into the Eric M. Taylor Center on Rikers Island to begin his one-year jail sentence . According to most experts, the first 24 hours are the most crucial to ensuring a successful incarceration. Dr. Jefferey Ian Ross, a faculty member at the University of Baltimore’s Criminology Division, advises that the superstar MC keep to himself as he gets adjusted to his new surroundings. “Most of the time, the best thing to do in the first 24 hours is to keep your mouth shut as much as possible,” Ross told MTV News. “Keep your eyes open and basically do as you’re told by the correction officers. Essentially, you shouldn’t look at other inmates in the eye, ’cause to a lot of people, that may be considered an aggressive type of action. Also, don’t look at their property, because they may feel like that’s aggressive as well and that you want their property.” Ross, who wrote the book “Behind Bars: Surviving Prison” along with Stephen C. Richards, explained that most inmates are housed with similar offenders, but there are instances were prisoners get bored and lash out. For these reasons, it’s important for someone like Lil Wayne, a celebrity, to maintain as normal of a disposition as he can. “Say ‘yes sir,’ ‘no sir,’ no cutting in line,” Ross said. “Don’t act like you have special privileges.” Unlike NFL star-turned-inmate Plaxico Burress, Lil Wayne shunned a jail coach or a sentencing specialist. Ross said that decision put Wayne at a disadvantage, because some benefits include assistance in building a network within the prison facilities. Sentencing coaches, in some cases, are previously jailed people who can connect incoming inmates with those they can trust inside. According to Ross, Lil Wayne will eventually have to venture out from his own connections. But in the interim, Ross suggested the old adage that prisoners need to just “do their time.” “Keep your mouth shut, keep your eyes open, be respectful — not only to correction officers, but to inmates,” he said. “And don’t be a snitch and don’t complain about the housing accommodations, follow those rules and they call that ‘do your own time.’ “It’s not easy,” Ross added. “Criminals don’t face a cakewalk, [regardless of the length of their sentence]. Their liberties and choices are taken away from them, and they’re basically at the will of prison.” Related Videos Lil Wayne Goes To Jail: Celebs React Lil Wayne’s ‘Road To Rikers’ Related Photos Lil Wayne Heads To Rikers Island Related Artists Lil Wayne
