Kush Chronicles: Woman Says She Feeds Her Pigs Medical Mean Green To Fatten Them Up From Getting The Munchies

Woman Feeds Her Pigs Drugs To Fatten Them Up A Washington state farm owner is trying out an unconventional method to fatten up her pigs in the wake of the state’s fast approaching legalization of medical mary jane. via Yahoo With Washington state about to embark on a first-of-its-kind legal market for recreational marijuana, the budding ranks of new cannabis growers face a quandary over what to do with the excess stems, roots and leaves from their plants. Susannah Gross, who owns a five-acre farm north of Seattle, is part of a group experimenting with a solution that seems to make the most of marijuana’s appetite-enhancing properties – turning weed waste into pig food. Four pigs whose feed was supplemented with potent plant leavings during the last four months of their lives ended up 20 to 30 pounds heavier than the half-dozen other pigs from the same litter when they were all sent to slaughter in March. “They were eating more, as you can imagine,” Gross said. Giving farm animals the munchies is the latest outcome of a ballot measure passed by Washington voters in November making their state one of the first to legalize the recreational use of pot. Piff puffin’ pigs get the munchies……and then kush heads probably eat bacon when they get hungry. Ah, the circle of life. The Last Pogo

Brooklyn Nets Logo: Revealed, Black & White!

The New Jersey Nets are no longer. The Brooklyn Nets are the future. The newly-relocated NBA franchise even has a black-and-white logo, unveiled Monday at a sporting goods store on Flatbush Avenue, right across the street from its soon-to-be-completed home arena, the $1 billion Barclays Center. Check out the Brooklyn Nets logo below: Star center Brook Lopez was joined by coach Avery Johnson, General Manager Billy King, Bruce Ratner, the real estate developer, minority owner and catalyst behind the team’s relocation, and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. “Hello Brooklyn,'” Lopez said. “I’ve been waiting a long time to say that. It’s exciting.” No word if co-owner Jay-Z or soon-to-be free agent Kris Humphries were there.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard Welcome Baby #2!

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard became the proud parents of their second baby girl a week and a half ago, a rep for Gyllenhaal confirmed today. Born April 19 in New York, the parents named their daughter Gloria Ray. Gyllenhaal, 34, and Sarsgaard, 41, are already parents to daughter Ramona, 5. Together since 2002, the couple tied the knot in Brindisi, Italy, in 2009. Since first becoming a mother in 2006, Gyllenhaal, like so many other working moms, says she’s struggled to balance her personal and professional life. “I had been so focused on Ramona and she’s been everything to me, but I’m also an actress,” she said recently. “It’s not possible to do it perfectly.” Sarsgaard, meanwhile, had another set of concerns. “I’ve seen kids with siblings – I don’t have any, so I don’t know – but they generally go for about five minutes, ‘Oh, cool! Anyway, what are we going to do now? Can we return it?’ I think it gets boring quickly, at first, and it takes them awhile to bond.” We have a feeling Ramona will manage. Congrats! [Photo: WENN.com]

Bobby Brown on Whitney Houston Death: Not My Fault!

Bobby Brown taped an interview with Matt Lauer this morning – for segments on The Today Show that will run Wednesday and Thursday – and made it a priority to defend himself against accusations that his hard-partying lifestyle played a role in the tragic death of Whitney Houston. “I didn’t get high before I met Whitney,” Brown says, seemingly blaming HER for HIS problems, although clarifying that he did smoke “weed” and drink prior to their relationship. But Brown emphasized that he wasn’t “the one that got Whitney on drugs at all” and that he feels “terrible” folks think otherwise. Because, really people, the important thing here is how Bobby Brown feels. Houston and Brown were married from 1992 to 2007 and are the parents of a daughter, Bobbi Kristina . The singer told Lauer that their one year of filming Being Bobby Brown had a profound affect on their recreational drug use. “The reality show gave us a wakeup,” he says. “We [were] able to see that our drug use had affected our relationship, had affected the love that we felt for each other.” When did Bobby last see Whitney? About a week prior to her passing. He said she “looked really well” at the time. Brown – who pleaded out a DUI arrest just this week in order to avoid jail time – said he was shocked and “hurt” when he learned Houston died with cocaine in her system. At the end of the day… “I love that woman with everything that I am. And I believe she loved me the same way. We wouldn’t have been able to make the most beautiful girl in the world – without love. And that’s the truth.”

Simon Cowell And L.A. Reid Discuss ‘X Factor’ Rumors

Cowell tells Ryan Seacrest that the TV talent competition’s final two judges may be revealed ‘in the next week.’ By Eric Ditzian Simon Cowell Photo: Ian Derry / FOX Simon Cowell called in to his former “American Idol” buddy Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Wednesday morning (March 23), and in between zinging each other — Simon, for instance, sarcastically suggesting “Idol” needs more mentions that this year’s talent is the best ever, because 16 times isn’t enough — the duo dished a bit of news about the Brit TV personality’s upcoming reality competition, “The X Factor.” While rumors continue to swirl about who will join Cowell and former Island Def Jam chief L.A. Reid on the judging panel, Simon disclosed that he’s eyeing two hosts for the show, much like “Idol” during its first season. Unlike “Idol,” though, which featured Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman during its inaugural season, “X Factor” is targeting both a male and female host. “I think on this show it would be helpful to have two,” Cowell said. While Cowell had no announcements to make about the other judges that will be joining the panel, he did say news will be coming shortly. “Maybe in the next week we’re going to announce the final two,” he revealed. And what about those Nicki Minaj rumors? When Reid joined the conversation and Seacrest asked about a possible meeting between Reid and Minaj, the ex-label boss playfully stumbled though his words and said any such meeting would have nothing to do with “X Factor.” “We’ve got to find people who we like,” Cowell said about other judges. “You’ve got contracts, you’ve got dates, you change your mind, you meet new people. Literally just today, somebody else’s name has come into the frame. It happens.” Cowell, of course, didn’t mention who that new person was. But, he said, the new judge has got to be someone he trusts, much like Reid, who he’s known personally and professionally for a long time. “Simon and I have been friends for many, many years,” Reid explained. “When I met Simon, I thought he was a huge star, and if he could sing, I would have signed him … One day, Simon reached out to me [about joining ‘X Factor’] and, Simon, your exact words were, ‘Are your ears burning?’ ” Who would you like to see on the ‘X Factor’ judging panel? Tell us in the comments.

Taxes on marijuana may force a showdown between state and federal laws

It’s funny how elections work sometimes. On the day Californians defeated Proposition 19, voters in 10 cities authorized taxing marijuana. Because Prop. 19 would have legalized the recreational use of pot, these new taxes will fall entirely on medicinal marijuana dispensaries in San Jose, Berkeley, Oakland, Sacramento, Stockton and the other five cities. But collecting the taxes might not be as easy as voters think. Under U.S. law, marijuana is illegal, so to pay a tax for selling it, dispensaries must formally admit to a city that they are committing a federal crime. http://www.jackherer.com/archives/taxes-on-marijuana-may-force-a-showdown-betwee… added by: JackHerer

Lil Wayne Talks Working Out, Playing Uno In New Letter From Jail

‘The best lesson is to not come back,’ he says of what he’s learned in prison. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images Lil Wayne posted yet another letter from prison on WeezyThanxYou.com , presumably one of his last ones as the incarcerated rapper now has fewer than 80 days left on his one-year sentence . In his message, the Cash Money Records superstar discussed the weapons charges that landed him in Rikers Island (he’s learned his lesson), his recreational activities (he’s an Uno champ!) and his workout regime (he’s buff, sort of). “Well ain’t nothing going on in here but the time, which seems like it’s taking forever,” the rapper wrote in his letter, the fifth he’s posted so far. “I’m trying to make the most out of every second tho, mentally. There’s some pretty cool people in here. Even though this isn’t a cool place to be. I’ve learned plenty already and the best lesson is to not come back. Last night, I kicked ass in UNO! Anyway, that’s neither here nor there. Just thought I’d let y’all know. Gotta stay hydrated. Though it’s hot, I still work out. Now don’t be expecting me to look like Hercules when I get out, but I should be a little bulky.” Weezy signed off by thanking many of his fans individually and personally; he often responds to letters fans have written him with a nod to the subject. “Stay focused. Cool rap name!” he wrote to Dominick Johnson. “I thank you for being such a longtime fan. And yes, you brought a smile to my face. So it was well worth it,” he wrote to Violet Grann. The letter might be a bit dated, as there’s a message from Wayne to Chris Bosh telling the newly signed Miami Heat star he should team up with Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles. Wayne also promotes two projects of his in the letter: his EP I’m Not a Human Being and the DJ Scoob Doo-directed “Nino Brown Story 3,” both slated for upcoming releases.
