Justin Bieber Sued for Unsafe Decibel Levels in Concert

This is so not the week to be Justin Bieber. Days after the singer was cited for excessive speeding and chased by the paparazzi , he’s been hit with a lawsuit by a former concert goer named Stacey Wilson Betts – and you won’t believe the reason why. Betts is suing the adorable teen for $9.2 million because she attended a show in July 2010 and claims to have suffered severe tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and hyperacusis (oversensitivity to sound) in both ears as a result. Based on court documents obtained by E! News, Betts says she was injured due to “an unforeseen aspect of the show,” specifically a sound blast that “exceeded safe decibel levels.” “[Bieber] climbed into a heart shaped, aluminum/steel gondola and was pulled out over the crowd,” creating a “wave like effect of screaming” that “enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms in a quick and upward motion,” the lawsuit reads. Betts concludes that her pain is a results of “the negligence of Justin Bieber.” She is also suing Island Def Jam Records, the arena in which the concert was held and the promoter.

Steven Tyler Injured In Hotel Fall

Aerosmith singer’s accident causes postponement of band’s South American show. By Gil Kaufman Steven Tyler Photo: Getty Images Whenever Steven Tyler falls down, chances are Aerosmith is going to get some time off. The latest tumble by the 63-year-old rock and roll icon and “American Idol” judge took place on Tuesday in Paraguay, when Tyler reportedly slipped and fell in his hotel bathroom, ending him to a local emergency room. According to a Reuters report, Tyler spent four hours at La Costa medical center in Paraguay’s capital and received emergency dental work and stitches to repair cuts to his face and the loss of two teeth. The incident forced Aerosmith to cancel Tuesday night’s show in Asuncion, Paraguay, which was part of their current Latin American tour. The outing kicked off on Saturday in Lima, Peru, and is slated to hit La Plata, Argentina, on Friday and swing through Brazil, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador and Mexico before heading to Japan in late November. “Mr. Tyler had a small accident that prevents him from staging the concert tonight,” said Marcelo Antunez, a spokesperson for the show’s promoter. “He is fine, he’s in his hotel but he’s not able to do the concert.” The concert has been rescheduled for Wednesday (October 26) night. Another spokesperson for the promoter, Nicolas Garzia, tweeted that Tyler had been dehydrated and was suffering gastrointestinal problems before the tumble. The last time Tyler fell was in August 2009, when he slipped off a stage in South Dakota and was airlifted to a hospital, which forced the postponement of the group’s North American tour. The inter-group tension that followed almost resulted in the Rock Hall of Famers breaking up as the band briefly weighed searching for a new singer . Related Artists Aerosmith

By Gil Kaufman Ke$ha Photo: Noel Vasquez/ Getty Images As the people of Japan continue to struggle with the recovery from the nation’s devastating earthquake and tsunami, some artists are being forced to cancel their tour dates in the nation. Ke$ha released a statement on Monday announcing that she would have to postpone her upcoming dates in the nation. “My heart is with Japan right now through this disaster and these hardships,” the singer wrote on her website . “I genuinely don’t think right now would be appropriate timing for me to perform in Japan given the content and the spirit of my show, which is all about feeling exuberant, rowdy, and wild. … I plan to bring my party there and to that part of the world when we are all ready to dance and Get $leazy together again. In the meantime I am going to do everything I can to help relief efforts and I encourage everyone in the world to do the same.” In the meantime, Ke$ha has a string of North American dates kicking off on April 1 with a show in Clarion, Pennsylvania, and running through early May. According to Billboard the promoter of scotched Japanese tour, Creativeman Productions, also announced that it would be canceling a pair of its annual spring festivals. The Springgroove an R&B, soul and hip-hop festival scheduled for April 2 near Tokyo and April 3 in Osaka, would have featured Nelly and Flo Rida, among others. Also called off was then annual hardcore Punkspring festival on April 1 and 2 in Osaka and Nagoya with headliners Good Charlotte and Hoobastank. Ne-Yo continued with his planned dates in Japan over the weekend, performing a show in Nagoya on Friday and launching a charity initiative to help the people of the country. Called “Spread Love Through Music,” the show included donation boxes at the concert to help those in need and the sale of a special wristband with proceeds going to earthquake relief. He plans to do the same during his shows on Tuesday (March 22) in Yokohama and Thursday in Tokyo. “You can absolutely spread love through music, and I think that’s what’s absolutely called for in this time of crisis,” he said in a video on his website. Also currently touring Japan is Cyndi Lauper, who is slated to play a show in Osaka on Tuesday and was in the country promoting her Memphis Blues album when the quake hit on March 11. She’s been tweeting about her experience all along, and on Monday, she wrote about the healing power of music in the shattered country. “Miss my family but have my music family and the warmth of the peeps I sing to. Tonight I will loose myself in the music and the rhythm,” she wrote. Like Ne-Yo, she is asking fans to donate cash at the shows to earthquake relief and is donating all royalties from sales of her Blues album in Japan to the Japanese Red Cross. Michael Jackson’s Mom Sues Concert Promoter AEG Live

Lawsuit allegedly filed by pop star’s mother claims AEG Live neglected his medical care, according to an online report. By Kara Warner Michael Jackson Photo: Getty Images The litigation that has surrounded the tragedy of Michael Jackson’s untimely death continues. Katherine Jackson, on behalf of and along with Michael Jackson’s children, has filed suit against AEG Live, the promoter for the late superstar’s 50-date concert residency . Jackson’s mother charges the company breached its contractual agreement to provide medical care for her son and argues they were negligent in hiring controversial doctor Conrad Murray . According to TMZ , Katherine’s filing claims AEG’s contract with Michael “created a legal duty for AEG to act reasonably toward the physical well-being of Michael Jackson.” The website also points out that the lawsuit lists Katherine Jackson as a Guardian ad Litem, or legal representative, for Michael’s three children, which Katherine is not. Jackson’s mother is in fact only the trio’s guardian. The gossip site suggests that the mistake, along with the fact that Katherine’s reps know nothing about the lawsuit, suggests she is not actively involved in this case. In other MJ-related lawsuit news, Conrad Murray’s attorneys asked a federal judge on Wednesday (September 15) to dismiss the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the singer’s father, Joe Jackson, because he is not a beneficiary of the late singer’s estate. The Associated Press reported that Murray’s lawyers equated Joe’s lawsuit to a “press-release that is intended to prejudice and inflame the jury pool and the public.” The motion will reportedly be considered by a federal judge during a hearing scheduled for Oct. 18. Joe Jackson sued Murray on June 25, the one-year anniversary of his son’s death in 2009 at age 50. His lawsuit claimed the doctor withheld vital information about Jackson’s medical history — including a list of all the drugs he had administered to his patient — from paramedics who responded to a 911 call, as well as to doctors at UCLA Medical Center who attempted to revive the singer. At the autopsy for Jackson, the complaint also alleges that Murray “said nothing” about having administered the surgical anesthetic propofol, which the coroner concluded caused Jackson’s death. The lawsuit seeks more than $75,000 in damages.
