Jimmy Fallon Sued For Female Bias at Work

Jimmy Fallon is being accused of gender-based favoritism at work. Bu a guy. A fired staff member’s suing Jimmy and NBC Universal for discrimination. In a lawsuit, Paul Tarascio claims he was dropped from his position as first stage manager at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and replaced by a “totally incompetent woman.” Tarascio thus accuses Fallon of “gender bias.” Tarascio also alleges his replacement was “a less qualified woman” who constantly asked him how to do the job, and screwed up her stage manager duties. He claims other male staffers on the night owl program, such as audio technicians and a Prop-Master, were also replaced by women at Jimmy’s request. Tarascio says the director said “Jimmy just prefers to take direction from a woman and “knowingly fabricated alleged performance issues” about Tarascio. Tarascio is suing for punitive damages and lost wages. Calls to Jimmy’s rep and NBC Universal were not returned. It’s unclear if anyone still works there. [Photo: WENN.com]

Mitt Romney Stumped By Open-Ended Personal Question in Florida Debate

“Well, number one, I’ve raised a family,” Mitt Romney said during Monday night’s Florida GOP debate when asked what he’d done to further the conservative movement. “And I’ve – I’ve, with my wife, we’ve raised five wonderful sons, and we have 16 wonderful grandkids,” he awkwardly continued, before finally answering the question. He went on to mention his private sector and gubernatorial experience, but the reference to his family stuck, highlighting his inability to connect to many voters. It’s a problem evident in his defeat in South Carolina last week. He’s skilled at detailing the X’s and O’s of policy, but falls short in efforts to prove he’s authentic. Newt, meanwhile, talked about helping Barry Goldwater’s campaign in 1964 and later Ronald Reagan’s successful 1980 bid, as well as his own efforts as Speaker. The Gingrich campaign certainly reveled in Romney’s non-answer. Minutes after the debate, it sent an e-mail titled “Mitt Romney’s Top Conservative Achievements.” It was blank.

Finally, Breaking Dawn Director Weighs in on Anti-Mitt Romney ‘Documentary’

Today in the NY Times , David Carr has an intriguing look at the notorious 28-minute “documentary” When Mitt Romney Came to Town , a piece of presidential-campaign propaganda so slick and evocative that it brings to mind the work of contemporary Hollywood pros. Perhaps most notably, Carr writes, the film implicates Romney in a kind of “vampire capitalism” — which calls for some perspective from the Oscar-winning director of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn , Bill Condon. Naturally . It’s precisely the cheeky antidote the piece needs to counteract the sniffling stridency of Michael Moore (“Those in power will appropriate the counterculture to their own ends,” he tells Carr), but it’s also a concisely nifty illumination of how choices behind the camera affect perceptions of those in front of it: “From a technical perspective, they were very effective of taking the imagery of [the 1984 Ronald Reagan spot] Morning in America and gradually turning it into an episode of America’s Most Wanted ,” Mr. Condon said. “In the film, Romney literally blocks out the sun and the weather seems to turn. You are always looking down at Romney, while they shoot the people who lost their jobs from below. And there is a literal money shot, where Romney is posing with money, that looks like it was captured from a surveillance video.” “The title in particular is very good,” he said. “It sets it up right away that this is the mainstream versus Wall Street. The populism of that message took me by surprise and represents a calculation that the white working class, who are everywhere in this movie, are a big part of the Republican electorate.” Indeed. Now if only it were factual ! Can’t have it all, I suppose. Check the film out below, FWIW…

Pure Comedy: Rick Perry Buys Hundreds Of Florida Voters Breakfast And Still Can’t Beat Herman Cain In “Straw Poll” Vote

These guys… Pizza mogul Herman Cain shocked pundits to win an early test vote in Florida, beating GOP frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Despite Perry buying hundreds of activists breakfasts on the sidelines before heading to Michigan, he came in second with only 15.4 per cent of the vote. Cain, who owns Godfather’s Pizza, captured 37.1 percent of the vote at Saturday’s Presidency 5 straw poll in Orlando, with Texas Governor Rick Perry coming in second with 15.4 percent. Mitt Romney came in third with 14 percent and Rick Santorum followed with 10.88 percent. While all declared candidates were on the ballot, the first-tier candidates did not compete. Perry bought hundreds of activists’ breakfasts on the sidelines before heading to Michigan. Romney and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota both left Florida before the voting began and their campaigns discounted the straw poll’s role in the campaign. Bachmann finished eighth with 1.51 percent in the straw poll. The results were unlikely to shuffle the campaign’s standings. Instead, they were mostly a popularity contest among the delegates selected by local party organisations. But previous straw polls have predicted the Republican nominee. Ronald Reagan won in 1979, George H.W. Bush in 1987 and Kansas Senator Bob Dole in 1995. The Republican Party of Florida, however, has not organized the test vote in recent years. As much as we hope this doesn’t mean Herman Cain is gonna be the Republican Party’s candidate, it does make for a funny Rick Perry story. Source

Kendrick Lamar Puts A Price On Section.80

New West Coast rapper tells Mixtape Daily why he’s charging for his latest release. By Rob Markman Kendrick Lamar Photo: MTV News Don’t Sleep: Necessary Notables Headliner : Kendrick Lamar Album : Section.80 Key Cameo : “No Make-Up (Her Vice)” featuring Colin Munroe The best things in life aren’t always free, and while New West Coast representative Kendrick Lamar started his career offering up free Internet-only mixtapes, the Compton, California, rapper is setting a new standard with his latest album, Section.80 . “It was something that I had to understand, that my company had to make me understand. I’m putting out this free music, constantly putting it out,” Lamar told MTV News of his old way of thinking. “My whole thing is bringing music back to where people actually buy it, but at the same time, you know what? I don’t think I’m ready yet to start selling my project because I feel the world don’t know me yet.” Since changing his name from K.Dot, he released The Kendrick Lamar EP at the end of 2009 and Overly Dedicated in 2010. Both projects were available for free throughout the hip-hop blogosphere, but Section.80 does not follow that same model. The change in Lamar’s feelings on free music is largely due to the urging of the heads of his record label, Top Dawg Entertainment. “Top Dawg is always telling me, ‘They’ll never know you [and you’ll never] get a chance to bring music back to its original roots because you aren’t demanding to go out and buy it,’ ” Lamar said of the advice he was given. “That made sense to me.” Section.80 is a densely packed affair, where the rapper displays his lyrical dexterity and storytelling ability. There are no songs that fit the traditional radio format; instead Lamar focuses on the ills of the crack epidemic ( “Ronald Reagan Era” ), the hardships young women face (“Keisha’s Song”) and religion (“Kush & Corinthians”). Barring any support from radio and major marketing companies, the success of Section.80 will depend on his ever-growing fanbase. “People out here, they really gotta go out and support that last music that’s alive as far as hip-hop, because we’re a dying breed now,” he said. “Truthfully, it’s up to the world.” Related Artists Kendrick Lamar
