THG Presents: 12 Movies to Get Excited For in 2012!

With the lowest box office gross in 16 years, 2011 was a year the movie industry would like to forget, despite a handful of mammoth hits. Will 2012 turn things around? Time will tell, but there are no shortage of exciting films landing in theaters in the next 12 months. From action thrillers to rom-coms to ‘tween fare, 2012 has it all! That said, here’s a look at 12 movies THG is particularly excited for this year: Men in Black 3 Trailer 12. Men in Black 3 Admit it, rolled your eyes when you first heard this was being made, but you’re excited. Or you were just fist-pumping from the start. Either way, here they come! 11. The Bourne Legacy Okay, we don’t really care about seeing this. We just want to see if President Obama slams Jeremy Renner’s performance at the White House Correspondents’ dinner. 10. What to Expect When You’re Expecting Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Glee’s Matthew Morrison make for easily the most-hyped must-see rom-com of the new year. J. Lo does it all, baby! The Avengers Movie Trailer 9. The Avengers So many of your favorite Marvel superheroes in one film? America hasn’t geeked out so hard since … every other blockbuster of the last five years. Still, awesome! 8. Paranormal Activity 4 The low-budget, high-earning franchise just got the green light for a fourth installment due out late this year, and fans can’t get enough. We’re freaked out already! 7. World War Z Fittingly, this Brad Pitt zombie-killing romp is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 21, 2012. Eat it, Mayan apocalypse calendar doomsday (and zombies)! The Hobbit Trailer 6. The Hobbit Peter Jackson returns to Middle Earth. We need not elaborate further, especially not after the trailer (above) raised already high expectations for the LOTR prequel. 5. Rock of Ages Tom Cruise proved he’s still got his box office mojo with M:I-4 . Can that translate into success for this hair band-era epic? We’ll be raising our lighters regardless. 4. The Dark Knight Rises Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Badass Bane’s borderline inaudible voice. Christopher Nolan’s final chapter. The hype and subplots are building by the day. Snow White and the Huntsman Trailer 3. Snow White and the Huntsman Charlize Theron is the reason to see this Kristen Stewart vehicle, though we have high hopes for K-Stew as the title character. Only reason she’s not #1 and #2 here is …

Karina Smirnoff to Pose Nude in Playboy

Dancing With the Stars’ Karina Smirnoff will bear all in May issue of Playboy . A Twitter post this afternoon from Hugh Hefner of all people confirmed this. “May issue of Playboy is unforgettable with Dancing With The Stars Karina Smirnoff on the cover & nude inside,” wrote the octogenarian founder. Not exactly something we would have predicted, but Karina certainly has the looks. Wonder if Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris vote for her on DWTS … Next month’s Playboy cover girl is a Dancing pro . Karina, who was once engaged to Maksim Chmerkovskiy, is currently engaged to MLB pitcher Brad Penny – and paired with Ralph Macchio on DWTS . [Photo: WENN.com]

Ben Roethlisberger to Marry Ashley Harlan July 23

It’s still unclear why Ashley Harlan is marrying Ben Roethlisberger. But one thing is now known to all: the couple’s wedding date. The couple will get hitched on July 23. “It’s just an engagement,” the quarterback told The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in his first interview on the topic. “I never expected it to be on the front pages of all the papers and websites. There was speculation what our invitations would look like and who is coming! It almost seemed surreal, it was like a movie or something, it was weird.” Also weird, to some? Why anyone would marry the Steelers star after multiple accusations of sexual assault . But over 500 guests are expected to attend and Ben is serious about a no-present policy. He intends to donate any gifts to Ronald McDonald House and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Roethlisberger and Harlan have dated on and off for five years. He’s aware of many comments people have on the nuptials. “People will always have opinions of everybody and me, and that’s fine, they’re entitled,” Ben says. “But people who know her, know me, know us… I’m in a happy place, but a lot of that has to do with her, too. “People can say that it is whatever, but people who know and can see and are around us and know me, know that it’s something special when you find that person, and I’m extremely lucky.” [Photo: WENN.com]

Lil Wayne’s ‘Green And Yellow’ Is ‘Wild,’ Wiz Khalifa Says

‘Just seeing that he even heard the song, A, and then knew how to rap to it,’ the ‘Black and Yellow’ MC tells MTV News. By Matt Elias Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Super Bowl XLV might not have panned out quite like Pittsburgh MC Wiz Khalifa would have wanted, since his beloved Steelers get edged out by the Green Bay Packers. But still, there was an upside for Wiz — namely, hearing Lil Wayne take on his Steelers anthem “Black and Yellow” with his own remix, the aptly titled “Green and Yellow.” When MTV News caught up with Wiz on the set of his “Roll Up” music video in Venice, California, we had to ask what he thought about Weezy’s remix. “I actually thought it was real cool when he did his version,” Wiz said. “Just seeing that he even heard the song, A, and then knew how to rap to it. Not saying that he wouldn’t, but it was kind of wild, like, hearing Wayne flip how I rap, ’cause that’s Lil Wayne. But it was cool.” It’s a great compliment to the momentum Wiz has built in the last year. First, he was named MTV News’ 2010 Hottest Breakthrough MC , then he signed to Atlantic Records and teamed up with Snoop Dogg for the official “Black and Yellow” remix , and now he’s gearing up for the release of his debut, Rolling Papers, next month. And even though the Steelers lost, Wiz was in characteristically good spirits about the whole situation. “My reaction to Sunday is just like, we’ll get ’em next time,” the mellow MC said. “We’ve been to plenty of Super Bowls. It won’t be the last one, and it was kind of a bummer just losing. But we had a great season and a lot of momentum just going into it, so I think that just had everybody boosted anyway. There was a lot of attention on Pittsburgh.” What did you think of Lil Wayne’s “Green and Yellow”? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Wiz Khalifa Lil Wayne

The 13 Most Intriguing Revelations of The New Yorker’s Paul Haggis/Scientology Expose

So you might have heard writer-director Paul Haggis caused a bit of a stir when he left the Church of Scientology in 2009. His defection, he said at the time, was attributable to the church’s reluctance to declare its tolerance toward gays and lesbians — an institutional blind spot exacerbated by its refusal in 2008 to condemn California’s Prop 8. But as a much-anticipated new profile in The New Yorker proves, there is a little more to the story. Like 24,000 words more.

‘Hell to the No!’: Gleebasing, Super Bowl Edition

If certain drug users are most at risk of overdosing on their first hit after a period of sobriety, then the epic midseason premiere of Glee , “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle,” certainly sent some Glee basers into the hospital. (Located right behind the Breadstix and across the street from the intersection where Schue cried in his car.) Not only was the over-sized episode a shock to the previously Glee less system, but it was a new strain of Ryan Murphy drug, cut with Katy Perry singles, fake breasts, BMX bikes and Mel Gibson jokes. Whatever happened to the pure Glee that they aired back in 2010? Now that was the good sh*t.
