Trailer Premiere: ’80s Rock Icon Battles Demons in Bob and the Monster

“It was one of the most magical times ever,” recalls Anthony Kiedis of the 1980s Los Angeles punk scene that gave birth to bands like his Red Hot Chili Peppers amidst a haze of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll. But for indie rock icon Bob Forrest, lead singer of the post-punk band Thelonious Monster, the freely available substances that liberated the scene also sent him into a spiraling drug dependency that ruined his career. After years of battling his demons, Forrest became a renowned drug counselor helping others, and his struggle formed the basis of the documentary Bob and the Monster .

Kat Dennings to Play One of Two Broke Girls for CBS

Here at Movieline HQ, we’re unabashed Kat Dennings supporters — and speaking for myself, that means even the atrocious-looking Thor will probably get my disposable income — so the news that the Nick and Norah star is potentially headed to weekly television glory is a great way to close out the week. Dennings has been cast in the Michael Patrick King/Whitney Cummings-produced CBS pilot Two Broke Girls as Max, the broke-r of the two lead females who work at a Brooklyn diner while trying to raise cash for their big business venture. Sounds like How to Make It In America but awesome. [ Deadline ]

Craig Ferguson On Late Night, Stand-Up, Alcoholism and Freedom to Say ‘F*ck’

It’s fairly standard policy for a publicist to request that the questions stay on topic to whatever is being promoted. In this case, with Craig Ferguson — best known, of course, as the host of the Late Late Show on CBS — this pretty much opens up every aspect of his life since his new Epix stand-up special, Does This Need To Be Said? , addresses subjects as diverse as his battle with alcoholism to David Letterman’s sex scandal. Indeed, Ferguson admits, casual viewers might be shocked what the “nice man on TV” has to say when he’s unfiltered.
