Really??? Study Says Chemical In McDonald’s French Fries Help Men From Ba Da Ba Ba Balding

(Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty Images) Chemical In McDonald’s French Fries Could Cure Baldness McDonald’s french fry grease could be used to regrow long gone follicles if you have bald spots. A stem cell research team from  Yokohama National University  regrew hair on mice by using dimethylpolysiloxane, the silicone added to  McDonald’s fries  to stop cooking oil from frothing according to Newsweek . Tests indicated that the groundbreaking method was likely to be just as successful when transferred to human skin cells. According  to the study , released in the  Biomaterials  journal last Thursday, the breakthrough came after the scientists successfully mass-produced “hair follicle germs” (HFG) which were created for the first time ever in this way. HFGs, cells that drive follicle development, are considered the holy grail in hair-loss research. The scientists said use of dimethylpolysiloxane was crucial to the advancement. “The key for the mass production of HFGs was a choice of substrate materials for the culture vessel,” Professor Junji Fukuda, of Yokohama National University, said  in the study . “We used oxygen-permeable dimethylpolysiloxane (PDMS) at the bottom of culture vessel, and it worked very well.” The study adds this fun picture of hair sprouting on the back of a balding mouse. 22nd Anniversary Of Million Man March: ‘Separation Or Death’

More:

O ctober 16, 2017 marks the 22nd anniversary of the Million Man March . The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan will deliver a keynote address for the Commemoration and Day of Atonement called “Separation or Death!” the Final Call reports. RELATED:  EXCLUSIVE: Why The Million Man March Was Just As Much For Healing As It Was For Justice “ The Minister will deliver his message October 15 at Symphony Hall in Newark at 1020 Broad Street. Doors open at 12:00 noon ET and the program begins at 2:00 p.m ET,” the news outlet writes. Newark, New Jersey was chosen in part for its concentration of Black residents. Blacks make up 145,085, or 52 percent, of the total  population of 277,140, according to the U.S. Census Bureau . Student Minister Abdul Haqq Muhammad of Mosque No. 25 called Newark a “very Islamic city,” and said that Minister Farrakhan visits the city “quite often.” The first Million Man March found more than a million Black men and boys gathered on the mall of Washington, DC. Minister Farrakhan laid out an eight-step plan for atonement in the Black community, with men shouldering much of the responsibility for the socioeconomic ills faced by Black communities nationwide. According to the Nation of Islam , immediate outcomes of the march included 1.7 million new voter registrations, a surge in adoptions of Black children, and “skyrocketed” memberships in Black organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Newark Minster Haqq Muhammad told Final Call reporters that this year’s message of separation is informed by “police brutality and a obstructions of justice within Black and Brown communities…We can see that the Caucasian in particular has become infuriated with Black people in general.” SOURCE: Final Call SEE ALSO: 6 Black-Owned Bed & Breakfasts That Feel Like Home Teen Developing App To Prevent Police Brutality     [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3205621″ overlay=”true”]

Keith Scott Shooting Leads to Violent Protests in Charlotte

The killing of an allegedly unarmed African-American at the hands of a white police officer has led to a state of emergency in North Carolina. Keith Lamont Scott Shooting Leads to Charlotte Protests, Riots Governor Pat McCrory made this declaration on Thursday morning after protests and riots in the streets of Charlotte turned especially ugly and violent. The National Guard and State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the area after Keith Scott, a 43-year old black man, was shot and killed by officers on Tuesday. According to police, he refused to drop his handgun prior to the fatal incident. According to family members and a witness, Scott was holding a book, not a weapon. This sort of controversial shooting has become all too common across the nation, of course, with Terence Crutcher also being shot and killed in Tulsa this week. Multiple videos of Crutcher’s death have gone public, with neither making it appear as if the 40-year old deserved to be shot: Terence Crutcher: Shot and Killed by Police Terence Crutcher Helicopter Video: What Happened? In response to Scott’s shooting, a peaceful really turned violent yesterday when civilians threw rocks and bottles at police officers. They also broke into Charlotte storefronts and smashed windows along the way. Officers defended themselves with rubber bullets, tear gas, flash-bang grenades and pepper spray. One protester was shot and four police officers suffered non-life threatening injuries, city officials confirmed on Twitter. Wednesday marked the second straight night of unrest in North Carolina’s largest city, following numerous protesters and 16 officers being injured on Tuesday evening. As reported above, the turmoil prompted Governor McCrory to declare a state of emergency in an attempt to restore peace. “Any violence directed toward our citizens or police officers or destruction of property should not be tolerated,” McCrory said in a statement. Bank of America, which is based out of Charlotte, told its employees not to report to work in their uptown offices, while Mayor Jennifer Roberts is considering a city-wide curfew. There have also been protests in Tulsa in response to the Crutcher shooting, although these have remained more calm and civil. The White House has reported that President Barack Obama spoke by telephone on Wednesday with the mayors of Charlotte and Tulsa. Elsewhere, The American Civil Liberties Union is urging police officer to release their camera footage of the Keith Law incident. Roberts said she planned to view the footage on Thursday, yet did not indicate when (or if ) it would be made public. “We call for the full release of all facts available,” said William Barber, president of the state’s chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, in a statement. Earlier in the night, Scott’s wife, Rakeyia, issued her own statement, describing her family as “devastated” and appealing for peace in the city. “We have more questions than answers about Keith’s death,” she said.

Race Matters: Black Women Face Interracial Dating Taboo While Dating Online But Black Men Don’t

This may be the last remaining taboo in our supposedly colorblind society . Black Women Face Interracial Dating Taboo When Online Via NY Post reports: A New York City woman — beautiful, educated, successful and single — accepted a challenge presented by an online dating service that aimed to fix her up with available men. “I’m not desperate to get married,’’ said Jacque Reid, who co-hosts the “New York Live” lifestyle show on WNBC-TV News Channel 4, serves as a correspondent for the nationally syndicated “Tom Joyner Morning Show” on the radio, and is the editor in chief of SingleandLivingFab.com. “I’ve met some good men. I’ve met some bad men and dated very bad men,” laughed Reid, a fitness enthusiast and never-married Atlanta, Ga., native who lives in Manhattan with her pet Shih Tzus — a boy named Sugar-Shane and a girl named Zoe. “I’m happy being single,” said Reid, who declined to give her age. She said, “I’m excited about” the Web-based matchup service. “It will be fun — and I’ll get some dates.” But two days after we spoke last week, a WNBC spokeswoman informed me that Reid no longer planned to accept the dating service’s challenge because she was “busy.” A friend told me that she’d changed her mind about it. Why? The answer may be found in the dating service’s name: InterracialDatingCentral.com. Reid, who is African-American, had opened herself up to the possibility of going out with men who are not. Reid had talked about the challenge on the radio and publicly accepted the service’s offer. She agreed to be featured in a news release announcing that she would go on a series of blind dates with four New York-area bachelors of all races, including African-Americans. Then the pushback began. In this day and age, some people are vehemently against the idea of a woman of color going out with men of other backgrounds. And the opposition comes from within the black community. How can this be? “Black men date or marry interracially at more than double the level women do,” she said. “They are given a pass. They can date anyone they want to — black women, white women.” The purpose of the dating challenge, she said, was to expand a woman’s choices. Black women are up to 50 percent more likely than their male counterparts to graduate from high school, reports the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and The Schott Foundation for Public Education. About twice the number of black women attend college as black men, according to the National Coalition of Black Civic Participation. And the Pew Research Center determined that black men were more than six times as likely as white men to be serving time in prisons and jails in 2010. Meanwhile, said Karazin, the rate of out-of-wedlock births to black women is 72 to 80 percent — up to 100 percent in some communities. Some of the ills facing black men, particularly high incarceration rates for relatively minor crimes, are unfair to them. But Karazin does not believe that black women should be limited by race when choosing partners. She’s right. Skin color should not matter when it comes to love. Discuss….

Too Late? Scottsboro Boys To Be Pardoned Posthumously After Spending Years Locked Up, Accused Of Sex Assault On Shady White Girls

Alabama is attempting to revise it’s racist past by taking steps to posthumously pardon one of the most publicized cases of false imprisonment in black history . Via ABCNews reports : Nine black teens who were wrongly convicted of rape more than 80 years ago are set to receive posthumous pardons. The nine “Scottsboro Boys” were accused of gang rape by two white women in Alabama in the early 1930s. With the exception of one boy, all were convicted by white juries and sentenced to death row. The allegations, however, were false. While they were eventually freed without executions, the boys languished for years in prison, missing out on opportunities for education, jobs, marriage and life in general. The last of the men passed away nearly 25 years ago. Now, Alabama is trying to right past racial injustices and improve its reputation. The state House and Senate have voted unanimously in favor of a bill to posthumously pardon the teens. Governor Robert Bentley is expected to sign it. While civil rights organizations like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) lauded the decision, they said that racial tensions still exist, and that there is more work to do. NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous pointed out to the Associated Press that Alabama is currently involved in a Supreme Court case involving whether a section of the Voting Rights Act should be upheld. Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 requires places with a history of discrimination, including Shelby County, Alabama, to obtain preclearance before altering their voting laws. Shelby County says the law unfairly punishes them for past injustices, but voter rights groups, including the NAACP and a group of Latino advocacy organizations, say voters who don’t speak English as a first language continue to be discriminated against, and that voter-roll purges unfairly target minorities. “Unfortunately,” Jealous told the AP, “Alabama still needs to consider its present.” This is one of the most infamous cases in AMERICA’s shady history — forget about Alabama. Of the nine men falsely accused of forcing sex on two train-riding skanky white girls (who were definitely spreading legs for white men) some of them were not even physically able to have sex at all! They had their names torn down and the shame of being attached to this case. It’s great that they’re being pardoned now — but Alabama owes them and their families more than just a pardon. And we agree with Ben Jealous — there are plenty of steps the state needs to take to address racism HERE and NOW! AP

Race Matters: NAACP Protests Proposed Gun Offender Registry Law In Wealthiest African-American County In U.S.

NAACP Protests Proposed Gun Offender Registry Law In Wealthy African-American County A law that would require members of the community convicted of gun-related crimes to check in with police every six months is in the works in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The NAACP chapter of Prince George’s County, which is the wealthiest African-American majority county in the nation, says they are not havin it. The Prince George’s County’s chapter of the NAACP is hoping to stop County Executive Rushern L. Baker III (D) from signing a countywide gun offender registry program into law, claiming the law is unconstitutional. The registry program, passed June 5 by the County Council with a 9-0 vote, would establish a police-kept registry for those convicted of gun-related crimes who would have to check in with police every six months for three years in addition to providing information such as phone numbers and where they live and work. Legislation for the registry was introduced by County Councilwoman Karen R. Toles (D-Dist. 7) of Suitland and co-sponsored by the entire council to serve as “a deterrent to gun offenders” to reduce the amount of gun-related crimes and homicides in the county, Toles has said. Members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People met June 21 to discuss their opposition, saying the bill violates the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which prohibits governments from depriving a person’s life, liberty and property without first taking certain steps to ensure fairness. In addition, they are citing flaws in similar legislation in Baltimore for a gun-offender registry that is currently up for potential appeal after a city circuit court judge said April 6 that the legislation was unconstitutional and too vague.
