Brenda Snipes Refuses To Go Away Quietly After Florida’s Governor Threatens Her Pension

Read the rest here:

B renda Snipes , the Broward County, Florida supervisor of elections, pushed back against GOP Gov. Rick Scott ’s suspension that threatens her pension. SEE ALSO: Brenda Snipes Quits Working As The Broward County Election Supervisor After The Disastrous Florida Midterms Snipes rescinded her resignation letter on Saturday, which was to take effect on Jan. 4. The letter preceded Scott’s suspension of Snipes on Friday for misfeasance, incompetence and neglect of duty, the Sun-Sentinel reported. Scott announced that Republican Peter Antonacci would replace the Democrat. “We believe it’s a malicious action that should not have happened,” Broward elections office attorney Burnadette Norris Weeks said of Scott’s suspension, adding that the governor’s move was an attempt to take away 75-year-old Snipes’ pension. Snipes earns a salary of $178,865 annually and would be eligible for a pension of $71,000 a year after 15 years of service as the county’s elections supervisor. A suspension, however, would eliminate her pension. Brenda Snipes is done with Florida elections. https://t.co/kHXuJVdnlr — NewsOne (@newsone) November 19, 2018 Snipes was attacked by Republicans, and even President Donald Trump , for her handling of the midterm election. She was harshly criticized for her management of the tight Senate race between Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson and Scott, who ultimately won the race. Broward failed to report vote totals to the state every 45 minutes on election night, and the county’s recount process took much longer than most other counties. Snipes also acknowledged that her office had misplaced more than 2,000 ballots included in the original count. Norris Weeks said Scott was partly to blame because he issued time-consuming records requests and lawsuits after the county experienced heavy voter turnout and a significant number of ballots by mail. By rescinding her resignation, Snipes intends to remain in office until her term ends in November 2020. “We will be fighting this to the very end,” Norris Weeks vowed. The previous sheriff, Michael Saudino, left the department mired in scandal upon his resignation in September when tapes were released him making extremely racist and homophobic comments. Additionally, there are a mounting pile of lawsuits against the police department and bitter division among officers and unions. Congrats, sir. Now get to work.

We Imagine Trump Is PISSED A Judge Reinstated Acosta’s Credentials…Which Gives Us That #FridayFeeling

Original post:

Source: Getty / Getty It’s not often that we laugh at the unhappiness of others—but let’s face it, anyone who’s sane is a little bit amused when Trump doesn’t get his way. He seems to feed off the misery of our nation , so any setback for no. 45 is ten steps forward for mankind. Most recently, Trump was accused of attempting to impede on CNN Journalist Jim Acosta ‘s first amendment rights. After going back and forth with Acosta, and quite frankly throwing a tantrum because Acosta was asking real questions, Trump had his White House press credentials revoked. “I think you should let me run the country, you run CNN, and if you did it well your ratings would be much better,” Trump told Acosta at the time . He followed up with, “CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them. You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN,” Trump said. “You’re a very rude person. The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is horrible and the way you treat other people are horrible.” Oh, the comedy. But, guess what? A judge has officially ordered the White House to restore Jim Acosta’s press credentials, based on the journalist’s fifth amendment rights. Huffington Post states: “CNN’s victory was in response to a temporary restraining order asking for the immediate restoration of Acosta’s press pass. Its broader lawsuit concerns whether the White House’s decision to revoke his press pass was unconstitutional. U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly, who was appointed by President Donald Trump last year, said CNN’s attorneys were likely to prevail in their argument that the White House had violated Acosta’s and the network’s First and Fifth Amendment rights. Kelly said he did not decide whether the White House violated the First Amendment, relying primarily on the Fifth Amendment in saying that Acosta’s and CNN’s right to due process was likely violated because the White House process for revoking his press pass was ‘shrouded in mystery.’” According to the site, Judge Kelly also cited “irreparable harm” to Acosta. Acosta will reportedly get his press pass back temporarily, “while the full lawsuit proceeds.” CNN said in a statement, “ We are gratified with this result and we look forward to a full resolution in the coming days. Our sincere thanks to all who have supported not just CNN, but a free, strong and independent American press.” While the White House still seems to be framing this as some sort of win , since the ruling was not based on  first amendment rights, we bet Trump’s pissed he may have to spar with Acosta again…hit the flip to see how we imagined his face looking when he heard the news. Plus, a happy and victorious Acosta here . Hehe.

Source: Jennifer Lourie / Getty Tonight’s episode of Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood picks back up with the Teairra Mari revenge porn saga. The episode begins with Brooke giving Teairra the tea about Akbar, and it’s really just a memo from Captain Obvious. Basically, TT got played. Akbar is (allegedly) known for taking advantage of young women, especially famous or wannabe famous ones who are in vulnerable situations like Teairra, for the sake of his own fame. All her rehab drama was in #TheBlogs so he may have seen her as an easy target. In the hood, we call that pimpin’. via GIPHY We know by now, thanks to #TheBlogs, that TT decided to move forward with a lawsuit. The status of that case is currently up in the air but some folks around these Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood streets think TT might have had a hand in leaking her own sex tapes. K Michelle sums it up perfectly by likening this to “The Atlanta Scandal.” You remember Mimi’s sex tape situation right? First Mimi blamed her then-boyfriend Nikko for leaking their sex tape and he looked like the bad guy for a long time, but later she admitted that she was in on the plan the entire time. via GIPHY People literally do some of anything for attention these days, unfortunately, so it’s not a far-fetched theory. Hopefully, in Teairra’s case, that’s not the case! In other news, JayWill is feeling some type of way about that Pride audition gone wrong. Remember how he showed up as his regular self and did a depressing poetry number, instead of performing as his alter ego, Kandie, who we all know everyone really wanted to see, especially for a Pride event! Yeah, so La’Britney also showed up to the same audition and killed her routine and booked the show. Somehow, JayWill feels like La’Britney is a trash friend for taking the gig and that if she were a real one she’d turn it down. via GIPHY La’Britney kicks the truth, which is that sometimes people have to do what they don’t want to when it comes to auditions and perhaps he should have begrudgingly performed as Kandie anyway since that would have been the winner. Plus, he should have known that Kandie was more appropriate for a Pride event anyway. Duh! People show up to Pride to party. He should have established his more serious side during another opportunity. He definitely doesn’t see it that way though. Obviously, they get together to talk about this and have a hostile discussion. She says she’ll throw him the gig as a bone because she’s not doing it since she’s going to London with Bridget Kelly (Bridget Kelly invited a bunch of the Angry Birds on a girls trip). They start arguing back and forth some more but the real tea is spilled when he says everyone knows that she and A1 have been (allegedly) sleeping with each other. via GIPHY The episode winds down with Moniece and Roccstar in the studio. Basically, they know each other from back in the day and Moniece wanted to get back to recording so of course, Roccstar the snake saw this as the prime opportunity. via GIPHY Brooke, who is supposed to be Moniece’s friend, offers to come for moral support. What she actually does is take over the session, singing Moniece’s lines and ish, because, Brooke is thirsty like that. Anyway, Moniece struggles a bit since it has been a while and her vocals are rusty and she’s nervous, so Brooke and Roccstar go in the booth to listen to the song and Brooke tells Roccstar that she wants to “help Moniece catch a vibe.” We all know that’s code for outshining her on the song, especially when Brooke, in her confessional, says it looks like Roccstar got himself into another Amber Diamond situation, and we all know how awful that was. Moniece senses what’s about to happen and starts freaking out. She nearly passes out and it’s probably a panic attack but you know they have to drag this out so the medics come through to tend to Moniece while Roccstar and Brooke are still in the booth listening to the whole drama go down and basically trashing Moniece. Roccstar actually starts laughing about this situation and calls it that Moniece probably freaked out because she was triggered by what was about to happen with Brooke and thought a panic attack would shut everything down. He didn’t even think Moniece actually would go to the hospital but she does. Meanwhile, Brooke and Roccstar stay behind so that Brooke can record Moniece’s record. via GIPHY Next, we get back to the A1 and Lyrica drama and then there’s the girls trip. Will Bridget Kelly, Moniece, La’Britney, Teairra Mari and Brooke Valentine kill each other across the pond? Probably. Come back next week if you’re here for it, though!
