GOP Scoundrels Pass The #TaxScamBill While We Slept: Here’s Everything You Need To Know

#TaxScamBill: What You Need To Know Last night around 2 a.m., Senate passed a MAJOR tax bill that gives huge tax breaks to the wealthiest people in the United States and folks are pissed! The cornerstone of the reform guarantees a permanent corporate rate cut, from 35 percent to 20 percent. It also pulls money from Medicaid and Medicare and screws middle class homeowners. To top off the swindle, the house didn’t even get ample enough time to read through the 500 page reform before voting on it. On the Senate floor, @SenSchumer asked to adjourn until Monday so that senators & American ppl could read the 500 pg tax bill they just got 4 hrs ago. Republicans ALL VOTED NO. #NoVote #GOPTaxScam pic.twitter.com/EhOmopqRd5 — NARAL (@NARAL) December 2, 2017 “Not a single member of this chamber has read the bill,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on the Senate floor before the bill passed. “It would be impossible. He called the Republican approach “a process and a product that no one can be proud of and everyone should be ashamed of.” He went on to warn that changes made to the bill “under the cover of darkness” would “stuff even more money into the pockets of the wealthy and the biggest corporations while raising taxes on millions in the middle class.” Here are some seemingly positive parts of the Tax Bill, according to CNN money . Increases teacher deduction:  Teachers who buy their own supplies for the classroom may deduct up to $250 today. The Senate bill doubles that amount to $500. Expands the child tax credit:  The Senate GOP bill increases the child tax credit to $2,000 per child, up from $1,000 today, and above the $1,600 proposed in the House bill. Nearly doubles the standard deduction:  The House and Senate bills nearly double the standard deduction. For single filers the Senate bill increases it to $12,000 from $6,350 currently; and it raises it for married couples filing jointly to $24,000 from $12,700. Now for the negatives: Since the tax bill already nearly doubles standard deductions, it eliminates all individual state and local income tax deductions. The bill also repeals Obamacare’s individual mandate, which is projected to leave  millions uninsured . (via NY Mag ) Limits state and local income tax deductions to property taxes , with a cap of $10,000. Like we said, the bill was 500 pages and folks are still discovering shady parts, dubbing it the #TaxScamBill. Here’s why. Hit the flip.

Making It Rain On Them Hoes: Diddy Tops Forbes’ 2014 List Of Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists

It’s all about the Benjamin’s baby. Diddy Tops Forbes’ Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artist List Diddy may have haters at Howard University, but he’s still making that gwap. According to BET: Sean “Diddy” Combs continues to be the wealthiest artist in hip hop. Diddy tops Forbes’ 2014 list of Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists with a net worth of $700 million, bringing him one step closer to becoming the game’s first billionaire. He’s held the top spot since the list started circulating in 2011. This fiscal cycle, the Bad Boy Records mogul has seen his net worth increase by $120 million since the launch of his music channel, Revolt TV, last year. Second on the Forbes’ list is Dr. Dre, at $550 million. The reigning king of the headphones industry garnered most of his multi-millions from the success of Beats by Dre, and this year bested Jay Z for the No. 2 spot he held in 2013. Still, Jay follows closely behind Dre with $520 million. He is the only name in the top five that can count personal record sales in his take home. Hov’s deal with Samsung to exclusively release Magna Carta Holy Grail netted him a multi-million dollar paycheck last year, in addition to the money made from royalties, touring and his Roc Nation imprint. Brian “Birdman” Williams took the fourth spot at $160 million, which is just over half of the $300 million Cash Money empire he splits with brother Ronald “Slim” Williams. Lastly, holding his spot among the top five, is 50 Cent at $140 million. Fif’s placement is credited to the windfall he pocketed from a Vitaminwater deal in 2007. Diddy, Jay, Birdman….can we hold a stack? AKM-GSI

Race Matters: NAACP Protests Proposed Gun Offender Registry Law In Wealthiest African-American County In U.S.

NAACP Protests Proposed Gun Offender Registry Law In Wealthy African-American County A law that would require members of the community convicted of gun-related crimes to check in with police every six months is in the works in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The NAACP chapter of Prince George’s County, which is the wealthiest African-American majority county in the nation, says they are not havin it. The Prince George’s County’s chapter of the NAACP is hoping to stop County Executive Rushern L. Baker III (D) from signing a countywide gun offender registry program into law, claiming the law is unconstitutional. The registry program, passed June 5 by the County Council with a 9-0 vote, would establish a police-kept registry for those convicted of gun-related crimes who would have to check in with police every six months for three years in addition to providing information such as phone numbers and where they live and work. Legislation for the registry was introduced by County Councilwoman Karen R. Toles (D-Dist. 7) of Suitland and co-sponsored by the entire council to serve as “a deterrent to gun offenders” to reduce the amount of gun-related crimes and homicides in the county, Toles has said. Members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People met June 21 to discuss their opposition, saying the bill violates the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which prohibits governments from depriving a person’s life, liberty and property without first taking certain steps to ensure fairness. In addition, they are citing flaws in similar legislation in Baltimore for a gun-offender registry that is currently up for potential appeal after a city circuit court judge said April 6 that the legislation was unconstitutional and too vague. Bill Clinton implores Democrats to back tax deal

WASHINGTON – Bill Clinton implored Democrats to back the tax-cut deal that President Barack Obama negotiated with Republicans as the former president made a surprise appearance at Obama's side in the White House briefing room Friday. “I don't believe there is a better deal out there,” Clinton told reporters who'd been summoned at a moment's notice to see the former chief executive back the current one. Clinton and Obama had just finished a private meeting in the Oval Office. Obama said it was a “terrific meeting” and then turned the podium over to Clinton. The voluble former president took it away, and Obama left part-way through his remarks, saying he had holiday parties to attend. “Both sides are going to have to eat some things they don't like,” Clinton told reporters. “We don't want to slip back into a recession. We've got to keep this thing going and accelerate its pace. I think this is the best available option.” The pact would extend cuts in income tax rates for all earners that would otherwise expire next month, renew long-term jobless benefits and trim Social Security taxes for one year. A number of liberal Democrats say it gives away too much to Republicans, and a provision that's particularly irksome to Democrats cuts estate taxes for the wealthiest Americans. Nonetheless the measure appears headed for Senate approval after negotiators added a few relatively modest sweeteners to promote ethanol and other forms of alternative energy. It's unclear whether House Democrats, who are most opposed, will be able to demand changes that go much further. Clinton gave the package his full-throated endorsement, even while noting that he opposes the extension of upper-income tax cuts — though he himself will benefit from it. “I personally believe this is a good deal and the best he could have gotten under the circumstances,” Clinton said, urging fellow Democrats to support it. “If I was in office now, I would have done what the president has done,” he said. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101210/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obama_clinton added by: JohnA
