Rosario Dawson and her longtime friend Abrima Erwiah have created a social enterprise that supports African fashion and sustainable practices. On Tuesday afternoon, the brand showed their Spring/Summer 2020 collection and had 60 models to show all their vibrant looks using African artisanal practices. Stephen explained, “Typically when you see a show, most of the girls have the same look, even if they don’t have any hair, they are forcing a look into that hair.” This was not the case for this show. She continued, “For us when I walked in and saw the designs, they looked cultural and could be African, and it would be easy to do braids and all that, twists and all that, cultural look, but we wanted to do the opposite. Just create shapes.” You can also just add hair to help make your hair bigger. “That’s what we did with Damarys,” Stephen explained. “She’s closing the show and she had a small afro, and I said, ‘You know what? It was the end of the line for not just one couple on Bachelor in Paradise Tuesday night. Or even just two couples. But a trio of tandems ended up calling it quits on the latest episode, with the Season 6 finale looming and, with it, all that pressure of Fantasy Suites, engagement and more. To open this recap, we’ll focus on Demi Burnett and her girlfriend Kristian Haggerty, who clearly have real feelings for each other. However, as documented the evening before , Demi was struggling to embrace her sexuality for the first time in front of so many people after having only just come out a short while back. “I want to be engaged, I want to marry her,” she said of Kristian, adding by way of concern: “But there is a part of me that’s terrified of what people are thinking whenever they see me and her kiss. I can’t get rid of that.” While this exact feeling was unique to Demi, she wasn’t the only contestant on Tuesday unsure about her romantic future. Clay Harbor and Nicole Lopez-Alvar, along with Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton, were also on fairly shaky ground. Yes, Nicole and Clay had been steadily progressing for week — but she ensed him holding back from a true committment. As a result, these two headed out on a date last night… where she decided to tell Clay she was falling for him, hoping for the same response. Alas: “You are my best friend in the beach,” he told her. “I just want to see you and spend so much time with you, I do. And I do think I’m starting to fall in love with you, I am. I just can’t say right now that I’m in love .” Chris and Katie could relate. They were also struggling to get on the same page, too. “I’m just so in my head right now,” he confessed, continuing as follows: “I can’t even explain it, because I feel like what me and Katie have is great. I know I have something amazing, but I’m still second-guessing that amazingness with an amazing person.” Then there was Connor Saeli, who had a VERY different issue . He had just gotten rejected by Caelynn Miller-Keyes (who left the show with Dean Unglert) and he wasn’t clicking romantically with newcomer and fellow singleton Revian Chang. The only person on his mind was Whitney Fransway, with whom he hit it off with at Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson’s wedding — but she had yet to arrive on the beach. Slight problem, right? “I thought Whitney might come down the stairs, but if she doesn’t come, I’ll probably just leave,” Connor said. “I’m not here to give out a friendship rose, I genuinely came here to find someone to find love, and if that’s not happening, I don’t want to be here.” But… wait! Almost as though it were scripted, Whitney later showed up with a date card at Connor’s hotel door, much to his extreme delight! “All I wanted was for you to come down and go on a date,” he said, smiling from ear to ear. “So this is the best.” Back at the bungalows: The couples got ready to head into that night’s cocktail party, only to find out that Chris Harrison had canceled it. What the what?!? They therefore went straight to the rose ceremony instead, as the suspense built and Harrison made sure to remind them how important these roses were. Why? Because, at this point, they were designed to represent commitment and a future together. Here is how it all shook out: Luke Stone offered his rose to Bri Barnes, but she declined and he was sent packing. Matt Donald then also offered his rose to Bri… and this time she accepted. Dylan chose Hannah. John Paul Jones chose Tayshia Adams. Chase McNary chose Angela Amezcua. Clay chose Nicole. Demi went with Kristian, of course. And Chris picked Katie… which meant Revian, Sydney Lotuaco and Haley Ferguson were going home. The next day, Harrison returned to announce that Bachelor in Paradise as they knew it was over . “Last night was your last rose ceremony,” he said. “What is next? Romantic overnight dates, Fantasy Suites, spending the night together and taking that night step as a couple.” Harrison continued: “Today, each couple is going to go have that conversation. “And I need you to be brutally honest with yourselves and each other and think, ‘Are we ready to take that step together as a couple?’ If you’re not, it’s time to check out of Paradise and head back home.” The message was heard loudly and clearly… as couples started dropping like flies, beginning with Bri and Matt, then Chase and Angela. Next up, Jones told Tayshia that he was in love with her — yet she just wasn’t there yet. Both devastated and in tears , they peaced out separately. Hannah and Dylan, however, couldn’t wait to take this next step together, while Clay and Nicole also decided to give romance (and sex!) a shot. After a heart-to-heart conversation, Demi and Kristian agreed to keep exploring their relationship, as well. As for Chris and Katie? “I feel like I’m so unsure,” he told her. “I don’t know, I feel like I push people away that I like, that I feel comfortable with.” “At the end of the day, whether it’s me or it’s not me, you need to figure out who makes you happy,” she replied. “I don’t know if it’s you for the rest of my life, but do I like you? Yes. Do you make me happy? Yes.” The sweetness wasn’t over, either. “For you to even still be sitting here is a testament to the person you are, and that’s what I’m looking for,” Chris said. “I want to give this a shot, I can’t sit here and say I don’t.” Katie was psyched to hear it all. “If this is Chris Bukowski’s last time ever on the show and we end up together, then that makes me the exception to the rule,” she said. “ He came out of retirement — and found me .” The season finale of Bachelor in Paradise airs next Tuesday at 8/7c on ABC. Some TV shows know when to call it quits. Others are dragged kicking and screaming on for season after season. These 13 TV shows need to be canceled with no prior announcement. Just end them already! 1. 13 Reasons Why – Netflix The first season was a solid, but the second was laughable. The third was even worse. It doesn’t even deserve a final season to wrap things up. End it NOW. 2. Fear the Walking Dead – AMC When Fear the Walking Dead debuted, it was a cut above its predecessor. But after some changes behind the scenes, the better characters were written out to make way for silly characters. The current fifth season is essentially a satire. 3. The Hills: New Beginnings – MTV The Hills was stale long before it went off the air in 2010. This reboot is about 10 times worse. The plots are forced, and it plays out as though the cast is desperate to create drama. It’s pretty sad. 4. Veronica Mars – Hulu Fans rejoiced when Veronica Mars returned as a series on Hulu, but then they went and killed off one of the most important characters. Now, fans really want the series to crash and burn. 5. The Affair – Showtime The Affair was groundbreaking when it launched, but it’s now in its fifth and final season. Absolutely nothing of note has happened, so it would be better to just cancel it without airing the rest of the episodes. It’s hard to imagine them being much better than the nonsense the series has been churning out. 6. Grey’s Anatomy – ABC We hate to say it, but Grey’s Anatomy has run its course. There was trouble in romantic paradise on Monday night’s episode of Bachelor in Paradise. Demi Burnett — who made headlines this season by announcing she was bisexual and then choosing to stay with girlfriend Kristian Haggerty instead of fellow suitor Derek Peth — took issue with her same-sex lover on the latest installment. She accused Kristian of getting a little too close to her costars. Burnett struggled when she took note what she interpreted as Kristian flirting with other women in the cast. (Editor’s Note: Kristian was simply brought to Mexico by Chris Harrison and company to further Demi’s storyline… and she has since just stuck around.) Demi explained that she was not comfortable with all this affection, in part because she was still adjusting to being out of the closet. How did Kristian react to the couple’s first quasi fight of their relationship? By confronting Demi about it during a date, explaining that she used touch to show her friends she cared about them and never intended give off romantic vibes. “It doesn’t change how I feel about you,” she assured Burnett. Demi did her best to understand, but also opened up about her ongoing internal debate. “I feel like I’m not giving her enough, but I’m also struggling with my inner battle of being worried about how I’m making other people feel, which shouldn’t matter, but it does,” Demi said. “I hate that my brain works that way but I’m just scared. It has everything to do with me being uncomfortable with being gay around people … being gay around all these people who thought I was some straight girl. It’s scary. She continued: I’m getting comfortable with it, but it’s taking me some time. I feel so guilty because I feel bad for it taking time and I want to give her what she needs but I’m still uncomfortable with it because I don’t want people to be like, ‘That’s weird.’ I don’t want people to stare and be like, ‘Oh my God, you’re kissing.’ It’s just stressing me out and I’m trying not to be so concerned about myself and trying to think about her. IN THE BLAKE OF AN EYE… Kristian and Demi overcame this hurdle in their romance, but the same could not be said in the end for Blake and Kristina. “I have allowed myself to think about Kristina as being the mother of my children and as being my wife,” Blake confessed in an on-camera interview. “There’s something undeniable between us. We can’t deny each other anymore. We can’t deny the feelings that we have.” In an aggressive move, Blake then made his own date card for Kristina. And in an honest move, Kristina told Blake the following on their outing: “I don’t think I’ll be able to get where I need to get. I can’t get there if I’m being real. It would’ve been very misleading of me to continue these things. I’m sorry.” Ouch , huh? So much for that whole mother of my children thing, dude. “I did not expect this to go this way,” Blake responded. When Kristina rejoined the group on the beach, she announced that she was leaving Paradise. And then Blake shared the same sentiment with Clay Harbor. “Paradise just isn’t for me,” he told Clay. In the van on his way outta there, Blake wondered if perhaps his Paradise conclusion resulted from the tangled web of love he wove earlier in the season with Kristina, Caelynn, Hannah Goodwin and Tayshia Adams. Yoyo is experiencing ageism from her own daughter, and A1’s mother tried it when she insinuated that it’s Lyrica’s fault that A1 ain’t treating her right. Let’s start with Yoyo. We know she has been helping other rappers work on their technique through her rap school, but she’s also planning a musical comeback. She basically described her comeback as being the Yoyo we know, but with modern sensibilities. That’s going to be interesting given the mumble app tendencies of today’s most popular hits. If anything, the fans that grew up with her might be interested in hearing what she’s working with…or maybe not. It really is a mixed bag because people are so finicky but also arbitrary these days when it comes to what entertainment they like. Plus, this culture is dominated by youth and that is where Yoyo’s pregnant daughter comes in because a lot of people may feel Yoyo should fall back. Yoyo’s daughter feels like mom is doing too much, and wants her to settle down. She obviously wants her mom to settle down for selfish reasons. She wants her mom around to play grandma and help with the baby. Instead of being tactful about it she says, “You’ve always been working, it’s time for you to settle down you’re a grandma.” Yoyo replies, “Girl bye!” And it makes you wonder, why can’t Yoyo have everything she wants? It’s possible for her to be working and a doting grandmother. Why are people so bothered when women of a certain age are still about pursuing their passions? Do you think it would be a different response if Yoyo were a man? Let’s fast forward a bit. The episode ends with Lyrica and A1’s dysfunction. They’re not happy and haven’t been for a while. They both initially said they were going to try to work it out but then Lyrica said she found out about more infidelity that A1 was dishonest about and this makes her not sure about their future. It doesn’t help that A1’s mother, Pam, steps into the fray and creates more chaos. Pam called herself stepping in to help and only made things worse. She especially tried it when she said, “Men do stuff because of women.” Then she added that Lyrica never cooks. Basically, she’s saying that A1 cheating is Lyrica’s fault. A1’s goofy self is there agreeing with his mother. Unfortunately, a lot of people have the archaic and baseless view that a failed relationship is the woman’s fault. However, it’s obvious that A1 and Lyrica both play a part in their issues. If they’re serious about working it out then perhaps a therapist (or even Marriage Bootcamp ) is the best option. But if not, they should probably move on instead of playing tit for tat games, and definitely keep the meddling mamas out of their business. Was A1’s mother out of pocket with her comments?
