John Wesley, a long-time actor likely best known for his role on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, died Saturday after a long battle with multiple myeloma. He was 72 years old. Gerry Pass, Wesley’s manager and producer, confirmed this unfortunate news in a statement that read: John Wesley was a gift to the world, for his kindness and grace are immortalized in his works of theatre, TV and film. I am heartbroken to have lost a dear friend today. A veteran of the Vietnam War and a graduate of UCSD with a MFA degree, Wesley had over 100 roles in film and television on his resume… including an episode of the aforementioned sitcom where he played the father of a girl that bullied Will’s cousin, Ashley. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, of course, is the show on which Will Smith for his giant break. Wesley may be a familiar face to almost anyone who has watched television over the past couple decades, however. He also played Mr. Jim, the barber shop owner on Martin and the all-knowing janitor Willie on The Jamie Foxx Show. The actor’s dramatic TV guest roles included appearances on JAG, Hill Street Blues and In the Heat of the Night. Over the course of a very impressive career, Wesley worked with talens such as Denzel Washington, Albert Finney, Barbra Streisand, Tim Burton and Morgan Freeman. Here is a blurry photo of him acting alongside Smith: In the wake of Wesley’s passing, numerous stars, fans and organizations have taken to social media in order to pay tribute to the late actor. “We are honored to have had John Wesley at our festival. Farewell dear man. Journey well. We send our love with you. Thank you, John,” the Hollywood Women’s Film Festival organization wrote, for example. “We send our love to John’s family and to our beloved Michael Learned, our friend Producer Gerry Pass and the entire cast and crew,” the group added. A Facebook commenter also came across the news and wrote: “I actually cried reading the article only [because] his work was so moving and level of shows and tv is astonishing to say the least. Rest easy former army veteran may you find peace.” Wesley is survived by his wife, Jenny Houston; his mother, Hazel Baskin; his daughters, Kimiko Kamiel Houston and Kinshasha Houston; stepson, Kyler Richie; nine siblings and seven grandchildren. She may not be a housewife, but we’re guessing Felicity Huffman is feeling mighty desperate these days, Along with fellow actress Lori Loughlin, Huffman is one of the faces of the college admissions bribery scandal , which made tabloid headlines back in March and continues to create endless legal nightmares for many well-heeled, but ethically-deficient parents. Basically, Loughlin and Huffman stand accused of handing out bribes in order to ensure their children’s admission to top colleges. Loughlin refused a plea deal and is planning to fight her charges in front of a judge. Huffman accepted a deal from prosecutors — but it looks like the court is still planning to make an example of her. According to documents filed on Friday, the U.S. Attorney’s office is recommending that Huffman pay a fine of $20,000 and serve one month in federal prison. “Huffman’s conduct was deliberate and manifestly criminal: it was wrong, she knew it was wrong, and she actively participated in manipulating her daughter’s guidance counselor, the testing services and the schools to which her daughter applied,” the documents read. “Her efforts weren’t driven by need or desperation, by a sense of entitlement, or at least moral cluelessness, facilitated by wealth and insularity,” prosecutors wrote. “Millions of parents send their kids to college every year. “All of them care as much as she does about the children’s fortunes. But they don’t buy fake SAT scores and joke about (‘Ruh ro!’) along the way.” The “Ruh ro!” remark is a reference to a comment Huffman made in an email to co-conspirator Rick Singer when she learned that her daughter’s high school would be using its own proctor for the SAT, which would make it more difficult for her daughter to cheat on the exam. Needless to say, it sounds as though prosecutors are taking Huffman’s case quite personally — and she’s certainly not receiving much sympathy from the public. According to TMZ, 27 people submitted letters of support defending Huffman’s actions, including her husband, William H. Macy, and her Desperate Housewives co-star Eva Longoria. But it doesn’t sound like those B-list pleas will be enough to keep Huffman from serving time. We imagine Loughlin — who, again, refused the deal that was offered to her by prosecutors — is shaking in her designer boots at the moment.
In early August, we knew that Matt Brown planned to return to Alaskan Bush People . But that was far from official. The truth of the matter is that he had burned some bridges with his family. Now, however, Matt has not only proven himself with his folks, he’s signed the paperwork — which is good news for fans in more ways than one. Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown spent months estranged from his family — especially from his father, Billy Brown. See, Matt’s struggles with alcoholism landed him in rehab about a year ago. After that, he had the support of his family to remain sober, but ended up having some stumbles along the way — as many addicts do. Unfortunately, along the way, he had a major falling out with his dad and ended up storming off to SoCal. There, he reportedly hung out with a girlfriend and, though he retained contact with some family (including Ami), essentially ghosted the new homestead. That, folks, is why Matt was a no-show in Season 10. But there is good news. As we reported, Matt headed up to Washington early last month to spend a week hanging out with his folks. While there, he had a nice long talk with his dad and the two of them mended fences. He was even invited back to the show. You could view this good news through a cynical lens and say that Matt just wanted that sweet reality TV paycheck. Regardless, he’s back with his family and soon will be back on camera. At the time, however, there was no official announcement. However, SoapDirt has now revealed that Matt has taken the next step. Apparently he has now signed the paperwork to appear on the show again for Season 11. Now, here is the twist — and a fun surprise for fans. Discovery hasn’t actually announced that the show has been renewed for Season 11 yet. Fans get nervous when a show is in limbo. Sometimes they’re just waiting to announce, but other times it’s a way of preparing audiences for cancelation news. But you don’t generally sign paperwork for a season of a show that the network knows isn’t happening. Which means that Alaskan Bush People is very probably renewed for Season 11. Contrary to some past seasons, Season 11 of Alaskan Bush People was actually in doubt for some fans. While some seasons of the hit reality series have had extraordinary ratings, Season 9 slipped among viewers. That, however, was when the show’s timeslot was moved. For Season 10, the timeslot has been restored and viewership has improved appropriately. Even so, it’s a relief to hear that there are actual contracts for Season 11 being signed and filed. We don’t yet have a premiere date (or an episode count, which is nearly as important) for Season 11. But the mere knowledge that it will exist should be enough to put wind in the sales of longtime fans for months to come. The cast of Little People, Big World just celebrated a very gigantic occasion: A wedding of one of their own! On Saturday, September 7, Jacob Roloff exchanged vows with long-time girlfriend Isabel Rock, becoming the husband to her wife on an unspecific beach in Oregon. There had been chatter that the couple would tie the knot at their parents’ farm, just as Jacob’s siblings Zach and Jeremy had done before him — but the ceremony actually took place elsewhere. A reception, however, was held on Roloff Farms. Neither Jacob nor Isabel — both of whom are rather media unfriendly — has commented yet on their nuptials, but Tori Roloff has shared a few family photos from the big day, which apparently included Jacob and Isabel’s 1987 Westfalia, a Volkswagen camper van. The former left Little People, Big World back in the summer of 2016, trashing his loved ones as a bunch of phonies at the time and exposing the popular TLC series as fake and scripted. “For the sake of ‘the episode’ and ratings I’ve seen a lot of STORYLINES drawn up (loosely) about our lives,” Jacob wrote online at the time , adding in bitterness and anger: “The family that is filmed is not my family. “They are the Roloff Characters and I have scarcely anything in common with them, nor do I want to be a character myself.” Since then, Jacob and Isabel have mostly enjoyed their time traveling across the Pacific Northwest with their dogs, mostly living off the beaten path. But Jacob has since made up with his relatives. He never made a return to Little People, Big World… but he did explain at various points that he reacted in an immature manner back when he blasted his parents and siblings on Instagram. Jacob does now also spend a decent amount of time with his brothers and sisters, often posting pictures on social media of him and nephew Jackson. As you can see here, this young man was easily the most adorable guest at his uncle’s wedding: As previously reported, Jacob announced his engagement to Isabel in Iceland in January of 2018 after keeping the news secret for more than a month. He had proposed to his soulmate on Christmas Day the year before. To confirm the development, Jacob shared the following photo and wrote as a caption: “… we got ENGAGED! It happened in Iceland on the frozen pond, Tjörnin, late on Christmas. So much love for this beautiful soul @izzysofia. Here’s to many more Christmas’, you n me.” How very sweet, right? As of this writing, we aren’t entirely sure if all members of the Roloff family were invited to the wedding. There have been rumors over the past several weeks of Jacob not getting along with brother Jeremy or sister-in-law Audrey. With few exceptions, reality TV stars don’t make a ton of money from the shows that make them famous. Don’t get us wrong, in many cases, it’s a cushy six-figure gig that doesn’t require you to do any real work, and that’s a pretty sweet deal. But Kylie Jenner didn’t become the world’s youngest “self-made” billionaire from her Keeping Up With the Kardashians salary. No, that it was the opportunities that basic cable stardom presented to Kylie that allowed her to go from well-off to wealthy. And while the two families may seem to have next to nothing in common, the same can be said of the most affluent members of the Duggar clan. The Duggars might belong to a faith started by a guy who wasn’t all that keen on amassing wealth, but Jim Bob and his kids are born hustlers. The exact figure Jim Bob’s net worth has been widely debated, but there’s no question that the man is a millionaire many times over. At this point, Jim Bob basically owns the small town that he lives in (much to the chagrin of many of his neighbors), as a result of more than a decade in which a massive chunk of his real estate earnings has been reinvested into local real estate. So it goes without saying that JB is the richest member of his family. But the question of who is the most well-off among his offspring has a much more surprising answer. Several of Jim Bob’s kids have followed in his footsteps by flipping cars and real estate. Surprisingly, the most successful Duggar in that department might be Josh, who owns several businesses and properties in the Tontitown/Springdale area. (We’re guessing he mostly sticks to behind-the-scenes work, for obvious reasons.) But Josh was fired by TLC amid a string of sex scandals in 2015. Similarly, Jill Duggar’s husband, Derick Dillard, was fired from Counting On , and Jill quit as a sign of solidarity. So they’re also more or less out of the running when it comes to the richest Duggars. And the same can be said for fan-favorite Jana Duggar, whose business opportunities are hampered by the fact that she’s an unmarried woman living in a society in which unmarried women are basically pariahs. So who takes the cake as the very richest of Jim Bob and Michelle’s children? Well, according to several outlets , the answer is Jinger Duggar, who — along with her pro-soccer-player-turned-minister husband — enjoys a net worth of roughly $2 million. Jinger’s surprising affluence came to light after it was revealed that she and Jeremy are shelling out roughly $4,000 a month for the house they’re renting in LA. And where does all that cash come from? Well, like her father, it seems Jinger has many irons in the fire. For one thing, she’s arguably the most well-liked of all the Duggar daughters, which means her sponsored content posts on Instagram are worth a lot some serious bucks. On top of that, Jinger married a guy with an actual job. It’s been almost a year since Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch broke up , but their split didn’t last. In fact, getting back together only brought them closer. Now, they’re making things official. Kevin and Astrid are now engaged! 35-year-old Bachelor in Paradise alum Kevin Wendt shows that finding love in Paradise really is possible, announcing the news on Instagram. “You’ll never walk alone again,” Kevin’s sweet caption begins. “From here on out, we run together,” he affirms. Kevin writes: “Astrid you are my family, babe.” “Forever,” he concludes, revealing that he and Astrid are now engaged. “08.28.19,” Astrid’s own announcement begins, marking the date of the proposal. “I could have sworn the world stood still in this moment,” Astrid recalls. She writes: “A moment I’ll never forget.” “Just you + me. @kevin.c.wendt you’ve taught me to love, learn, and grow,” Astrid gushs. “And,” she admits. “I can’t believe you’ve chosen me to spend this crazy life with.” “Wonder if I’ll ever stop smiling? Probably not,” Astrid concludes. “In this together, forever.” Kevin and Astrid tell People that Kevin poppsed the question on a sunset picnic in Toronto, where htey live together. “I actually forgot what I said. I just remember, it was a no-brainer to marry her,” the hunky firefighter admits. “I see her more as my family than any kind of girlfriend,” Kevin continues. “And I just knew I couldn’t ever let her go.” He reveals: “I quickly told her to move her bike because the ring box was so big and it was in my little backpack … that I didn’t know how to get it out of there.” “And so I told her to move her bike, and she kind of looked me like I’m an idiot. Like, why don’t you move it ?” Kevin narrates. “And as soon as she turned her back,” he details. “I grabbed it and crammed it in my back pocket.” “And I don’t know if you know,” Kevin adds. “But skinny jeans are not easy to cram things into.” “I was so clueless,” Astrid confesses about Kevin’s plan to pop the question. “And you never get a surprise really by me, ever.” “I feel like I pay attention to everything,” she shares. “And I had absolutely no clue.” Notably, Kevin avoided spoiling the surprise and had to take the risk of shopping for the ring alone. “I’ve always told him I don’t like when there’s too much crazy stuff going on in the ring,” Astrid recalls. “We’re very simple people.” “We were both in jeans and a T-shirt and a tank top [when we got engaged], which is just how we are every single day, which is so us,” she adds. “Rather than some crazy, fancy thing. So the ring definitely reflects both of our personalities,” Astrid says. “And he got a cute little inside joke engraved in it.” Just because the ring was simple and over-the-top doesn’t mean that Kevin didn’t spend a great deal on it. In fact, he admits that he probably overdid it. But clearly Astrid loves it and she loves him. Derek Peth didn’t simply leave Bachelor in Paradise Monday night . He also left his fellow Bachelor in Paradise contestants questioning their feelings, themselves and their place on the show in general. In particular, we write here about Tayshia Adams and Blake Horstmann and their reaction yesterday evening to Derek’s stunning departure. Tayshia, for instance, wasn’t certain how she felt about John Paul Jones in the wake of the Derek decision, while Blake had started to realizie his chances of finding love in Mexico were slim to, quite possibly, none. Yes, Adams admitted, she had a “soft spot” for Jones — but what did that really mean in the bigger picture? As for Horstmann? He had an epiphany on Tuesday’s episode and actually convinced himself that Kristina Schulman was the woman he had been searching for all along. “We always gravitate toward each other,” he told viewers on air. “Maybe we owe each other this, to give it a shot.” Suddenly inspirde, Blake grabbed Kristina for a chat and told her he was “all in” and totally sure of it… at the moment. “I thought I just wanted to be friends with you, I did,” he said. “And here I am, saying that I can’t stop thinking about you. It’s driving me f—ing crazy and it’s terrifying.” Could Kristina actually trust the guy responsible for so much drama this season ? She actually decided yes , she was willing to do so… resulting in Mike Johnson getting sent home at the rose ceremony. (So he could go prep to be the next Bachelor , we pray really hard.) First, in walked Bri Barnes from Colton Underwood‘s season of The Bachelor. It turns out that Blake and Bri had hit it off at Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson’s wedding just days prior (because of course they did) and when Barnes pulled Blake aside for a discussion, Kristina basically lost it. And yet: Blake stuck to his word, nicely declining Bri’s date card. She ended up going surfing with fellow newcomer Matt Donald, while Blake desperately – and unsuccessfully – attempted to break down Kristina’s walls back at the bungalows. At last, we get to Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Connor Saeli (from Hannah Brown‘s season of The Bachelorette), two people looking for love and no drama. “I came here for a relationship, and finally, I feel good,” Caelynn said at one point. “Connor and I are exploring what we have, and I’m happy. I deserve this after the hell that I’ve been through.” However, all was about to change. Just when it seemed as if nothing could go wrong, a freshly-shaven Dean Unglert made his totally unexpected return (!!!!!!!!!!) to beg Caelynn for another chance after dumping her — just a week ago. “When I left, I made a decision that I thought was best for you, but it wasn’t really fair of me to make that decision,” he explained, adding: “Then I flew back to San Diego, and the entire flight back I literally could not stop thinking about you. I rented a car and drove to the Grand Canyon, and as I was there I thought about how badly I wished that you were there with me.” How sweet and not remotely scripted, right? “I knew that I needed to come here and tell you that I wanted us to try and be in a relationship,” Dean added. “I came here to ask you if you would leave Paradise with me today.” Wow, huh? Caelynn didn’t know what to say or what to do. “Right now, I’m the most confused I’ve ever been in my entire life. This is not an easy decision,” she said. “I literally have the dangerous guy and the perfect man. I have no idea what to do.” We’ll need to tune in next week to find out what she chooses.
