But how do you know you’ve really arrived? It’s when you get invited to perform at Sting’s annual Rainforest Fund benefit show. On Thursday night (May 13) Gaga was on-hand for the star-studded show at New York’s Carnegie Hall, which also featured performances by Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, host Sting, Mary J. Blige and Blondie’s Debbie Harry. Wearing a frumpy gray old-lady wig, a white mini-hoop skirt and matching leggings that looked like they were made out of Ace bandages, Gaga sat down at the piano for what the New York Daily News described as a “sober version of one of the most earnest pop songs of all time,” Ben E. King’s timeless “Stand by Me.” She also hooked up with pop icon John again for a run through her song “Speechless,” which segued into his hit “Your Song” in what the paper described as a seamless collaboration between two stars who seemed “made for each other.” The 21st annual show opened with Sting singing “Englishman in New York.” He later hooked up with Mary J. for their duet, “Whenever I Say Your Name.” Springsteen belted out Bryan Adams’ “Cuts Like a Knife” and “Dancing in the Dark.” Though he played such classics as “Philadelphia Freedom,” John also got in on the cover action, taking on the Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Summer in the City” and Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” and “Material Girl,” accompanied by a kick line of male go-go dancers wearing Speedos. Harry performed the Blondie classic “The Tide Is High,” while Dame Shirley Bassey busted out two of her iconic James Bond themes, “Goldfinger” and “Diamonds Are Forever,” as well as her hit “Big Spender.” Chic leader Nile Rodgers served up “Le Freak” and Sting returned later in the show for a cover of the Fine Young Cannibals’ 1989 hit “She Drives Me Crazy.” The whole gang ended the night by taking on Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Related Artists Lady Gaga Elton John Bruce Springsteen

By Jayson Rodriguez Diddy in his video for “Dirty Money” Photo: Bad Boy Diddy ‘s gone on record explaining that his Last Train to Paris album will revolve around a narrative that follows the hip-hop mogul as he embarks on a journey to reunite with a would-be love. The excursion will take the Bad Boy Records CEO from London to Paris, with each record detailing his lovesick pursuit. So it’s only right that Diddy’s new video for “Hello, Good Morning,” the third clip from his Dirty Money project, would be a study in frenzied energy. Featuring Rick Ross and T.I., along with a cameo by Swizz Beatz, the video premiered Thursday (May 13) on Vevo. While the visual is set in Los Angeles, with the exception of a passing shot of the Staples Center, the city is anonymous. Ross opens the clip, backed by Diddy, Swizz and Dirty Money’s Dawn Richards and Kalenna. “Hello, good morning/ Tell me what the liq read/ Pretty face, thin waist, with the sick weave/ First time fish-tailing in the six-speed,” Ross spits, in a club scene. “Real bad boy, tell them come and get me.” Diddy speeds across the city in a bug-eyed Bugatti, with a helicopter tailing him ominously, as he recites the song’s chorus. Tip kicks his “5 Star” flow with two beautiful women draped over him in a hotel penthouse suite. Diddy ends the proceedings with a bang, literally, as he raps the third verse in a wide-open lot as fireworks go off behind him and his two female DM counterparts. The Diddy-Dirty Money video follows clips for the singles “Love Comes Down” and “Angels.” “We’re just trying to roll it out properly,” Diddy told MTV News last year about the long-awaited album. “I wanted a chance to lay out songs for you. A lot of singles we putting out now — that’s the introduction. We didn’t even get to that Train music. In last week’s edition of Newsweek , Ramin Setoodeh wrote an article that made one controversial statement and asked one controversial question: First, he said, gay actors cannot pull of straight roles. Then, he asked: Why is there no A-list gay movie star? Kristin Chenoweth fired back at the essay, citing Setoodeh’s examples of failed straight roles (e.g. Cynthia Nixon as Miranda in Sex and the City ) as “sloppy,” and referring to the entire piece as “bigoted and factually inaccurate.” Now, Glee creator Ryan Murphy has taken his critique of the article even further: he’s written an open letter, asking everyone to boycott Newsweek. In it, he says: This article is as misguided as it is shocking and hurtful. It shocks me because Mr. Setoodeh is himself gay. But what is the most shocking of all is that Newsweek went ahead and published such a blatantly homophobic article in the first place…and has remained silent in the face of ongoing (and justified) criticism. Would the magazine have published an article where the author makes a thesis statement that minority actors should only be allowed and encouraged to play domestics? I think not. Today, I have asked GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios to stand with me and others and ask for an immediate boycott of Newsweek magazine until an apology is issued to Sean Hayes and other brave out actors who were cruelly singled out in this damaging, needlessly cruel, and mind-blowingly bigoted piece. An apology should also be issued to all gay readers of the magazine…steelworkers, parents, accountants, doctors, etc…proud hardworking Americans who, if this article is to be believed, should only identify themselves as “queeny” people (a word used by Setoodeh in the article) who stand at the back of the bus and embrace an outdated decades old stereotype. Give me a call, Ramin… I’d love to hear from you. I’ll even give you a free copy of our Madonna CD, on which we cover “Open Your Heart,” a song you should play in your house and car on repeat. Our take on Setoodeh’s viewpoint? Putting aside homophobic rhetoric and anythong of that nature, it’s simply incorrect. Off the top of our heads, we can come up with numerous gay actors that are widely accepted in straight roles (Nixon, Neil Patrick Harris on How I Met Your Mother, Cherry Jones on 24 , Lily Tomlin on Damages ). It’s difficult to make a serious point of any kind when your thesis is misguided. What do you think about gay actors in straight roles? Do you have any problem taking them seriously?

Uplifting ballad ‘Love Is Your Color’ is first single from the May 25 soundtrack. The song is featured on the star-studded “Sex and the City 2” soundtrack , out May 25. In the first “SATC” flick, Hudson not only played Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant but she also had the song “All Dressed in Love” on the soundtrack.
