Scott Baio on Erin Moran Death: I’m Not Surprised!

Yesterday, the world learned that Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi star Erin Moran had passed away at the age of 56. While there’s been a good deal of speculation surrounding Moran’s cause of death , authorities investigating the matter have yet to reach any definitive conclusions. But that didn’t stop Chachi himself, Scott Baio, from publicly declaring that he has a pretty good idea of what killed his former co-star. Baio appeared on the Bernie & Sid radio show this morning and was asked how he’s holding up in the wake of Moran’s death. “I’m OK, a little shocked but not completely shocked that this happened,” Baio responded. “My thing is, I feel bad because her whole life, she was troubled, could never find what made her happy and content. For me, you do drugs or drink, you’re gonna die.” Yikes. We don’t want to be around when Scott finds out that he’s gonna die even if he doesn’t drink or do drugs. Baio want on to sort of dial back his statement, but wound up sounding confused by his own words. “I’m sorry if that’s cold, but God gave you a brain, gave you the will to live and thrive and you gotta take care of yourself,” he added. “I’m saddened by what happened. I don’t know if it was drugs that killed her, I read one report said it might have been and I hope it … I don’t know what I hope. It’s what it is. What can you do?” Moran was troubled by substance abuse issues throughout her life, but the results of post-mortem toxicology tests are still pending. Shortly after Baio’s interview, sheriffs in Harrison County, Indiana released a statement indicating that Moran probably did not overdose and likely died as a result of complications from cancer: “A joint investigation into Mrs. Moran’s death was conducted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Harrison Country Coroner’s office,” reads the statement. “A subsequent autopsy revealed that Mrs. Moran likely succumbed to complications of stage 4 cancer.” The report adds: “Standard toxicology tests were performed and the results are pending however no illegal narcotics were found at the residence.” So while the possibility that Moran overdosed has not been ruled out, it’s far from a certainty – as Scott Baio would have you believe. This has been your daily reminder that Scott Baio is a douche. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam

Erin Moran Cause of Death: Secret Illness Revealed?

Yesterday, we learned the sad news that Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi star Erin Moran had passed away at the age of 56. Speculation about the cause of Erin Moran’s death has been rampant, but early on, there was not much in the way of definitive news. That may have just changed. The actress was fed through a gastrointestinal tube, or GI tube, at home with her mother-in-law, according to the coroner’s office.  Moran had been receiving treatment for Stage 4 cancer, with the tube in her throat to keep her alive during her tragic final days. The source of this detail asked to remain anonymous pending further details to be released by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept. However, they said the coroner found a GI tube during the examination, as well as “ample” evidence that Moran succumbed to Stage 4 cancer . The specific type of cancer was not immediately clear. “It was indicative when they did the autopsy that she was receiving medical care,” the source tells People, which reported the story. A GI tube is usually inserted into the stomach by a physician to provide vital nutrients to patients who cannot feed themselves. It can also be used to reverse the process, removing fluids from a person’s body when a patient is unable to perform the task. The Sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing: “Standard toxicology tests were performed and results are pending, however no illegal narcotics were found at the residence.” “There were no illicit substances or anything to suggest foul play,” however, officials conducting the investigation reiterated. If true, this would contradict earlier reports and speculation that Moran, who battled addiction for years, died of an overdose. One of those who fueled that theory was her Joanie Loves Chachi co-star himself, Scott Baio, who spoke out in the wake of her death. Baio appeared on the Bernie & Sid radio show today and wound up weighing in on the subject in a manner he may later regret. Asked how he’s holding up, Scott says he’s not surprised she died : “I’m OK, a little shocked but not completely shocked that this happened.” “My thing is … I feel bad because her whole life, she was troubled, she could never find what made her happy and content.” “For me, you do drugs or drink, you’re gonna die.” Baio then tried to walk back that comment somewhat, saying, “I’m sorry if that’s cold, but God gave you a brain, gave you the will to live and thrive.” “You gotta take care of yourself,” he added. “I’m saddened by what happened. I don’t know if it was drugs that killed her, I read one report said it might have been and I hope …” “I don’t know what I hope. It’s what it is.” Moran was troubled by substance abuse issues throughout her life, that much is not in doubt; Baio may have jumped the gun, though. Erin was pronounced dead Saturday at the trailer Moran shared in rural New Salisbury, Indiana, with her husband’s mother. “To my knowledge, they had their own room,” the source said. Both Moran’s husband, Steven Fleischmann, and his mother, Donna Woods, have remained out of the public eye since her passing. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam

Warren Frost Dies; Veteran TV Star Was 91

Warren Frost, a veteran television star best known for his roles on Twin Peaks and Seinfeld, died on Friday in Middlebury, Vermont following a lengthy illness. He was 91 years old. Showtime confirmed this sad news in a statement, while Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost, Warren’s son, relayed the following to fans: “We’re saddened today to announce the passing of our dear old dad, Warren Frost. “From the Normandy shores on D-Day to his 50-year career on stage and screen, he remained the same humble guy from Vermont who taught us that a life devoted to telling the right kind of truths can make a real difference in the lives of others.” “We’re grateful to have shared him with the world for as long as we did.” Frost portrayed Dr. Will Hayward, the coroner who refused to perform Laura Palmer’s autopsy on the original ABC run of Twin Peaks. He also had roles in movies such as The Mating Game, It Started with a Kiss and Slaughterhouse-Five. In 1990, Frost joined the cast of Twin Peaks. Two years later, it was on to Seinfeld. The beloved actor also recurred on Matlock, and made a multitude appearances on shows like The Larry Sanders Show, Murphy Brown, Life Goes On, and L.A. Law. Patton Oswalt Reveals Tragic Cause of His Wife’s Death

On April 21st, 2016, Michelle McNamara, crime writer and wife of Patton Oswalt, passed away in her sleep . It was an absolutely tragic event, obviously, made worse by the face that Michelle and Patton had a seven-year-old daughter, and also because Patton has been so painfully and beautifully honest about it. At the time, no cause of death was given, but Patton’s publicist did say that her passing was “a complete shock to her family and friends, who loved her dearly.” A few months later in October, we still hadn’t heard what caused Michelle’s death, but Patton did say that “I have a feeling it might have been an overdose .” At least, he added, “That’s what the paramedics there were saying while I was screaming and throwing up.” But now, nearly a year later, we’re finally hearing what actually happening. And, sad though it is, he was right. Partially, anyway. In a statement to the Associated Press, Patton revealed that “We learned today the combination of drugs in Michelle’s system, along with a condition we were unaware of, proved lethal.” The condition was an undiagnosed heart problem that “caused blockages in her arteries.” The drugs that were found in her system were Adderall, Xanax, and Fentanyl, an opioid used to treat especially severe pain. There was no reason given for why Michelle was on Fentanyl, a drug that’s known to be 50 to 100 times more powerful than morphine. Oddly enough, the coroner told the AP that her cause of death is still officially listed as pending. We can only hope that this knowledge provides a little bit of closure for Patton, who once said of Michelle’s death that “She hasn’t left a void. She’s left a blast crater.” Of his grief , he’s written that “Depression is the tallest kid in the 4th grade, dinging rubber bands off the back of your bead and feeling safe on the playground, knowing that no teacher is coming to help you.” “But grief? Grief is Jason Statham holding that 4th grade bully’s head in a toilet and then f-cking the teacher you’ve got a crush on in front of the class.” “Grief,” he added, “makes depression cower behind you and apologize for being such a dick.” About raising their daughter by himself , he wrote. “I can’t do it. I can’t do it. I can’t do it.” “I want to turn out the world and hide under the covers and never leave my house again and send our daughter, Alice, off to lie with her cousins in Chicago, because they won’t screw her up the way I know I will.” But he also wrote “I’m moving forward — clumsily, stupidly, blindly — because of the kind of person Alice is.” “She’s got so much of Michelle in her. And Michelle was living her life moving forward. And she took me forward with her. Just like I know Alice will. So I’m going to keep moving forward.” So here’s hoping that, even now, Patton is still able to move forward. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Passed Away in 2016: Gone, But Not Forgotten

Teen Driver Dies in Car Crash, Streams Own Death on Facebook Live

A teenage driver was streaming to Facebook Live this week when a tractor-trailer rear ended her car and killed her, along with a passenger. Brooke Miranda Hughes, 18, was behind the wheel on Interstate 380 near Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, as she live-streamed her car ride. Her friend Chaniya Morrison-Toomey, 19, was with her. “Are you going live?” Morrison-Toomey asked. In the now-deleted footage, bright lights flash inside the car and sounds of screeching tires can be heard before Hughes can answer. An eerie seven-minutes of blackness follows. Then, at the end of the eight-minute video, a man can be heard speaking and a blurry, bearded face can be briefly seen before it ends.  The Scranton Times-Tribune reported that both of the two  teens were declared dead at the scene and were driving on a spare tire. Michael Jay Parks, the driver of the tractor-trailer, was unhurt in the accident. Investigators say it's too early to say if Parks will be charged. The Monroe County Coroner’s Office conducted autopsies on the teens, whose remains could not be visibly ID'd due to the car burning. State Police officials said the Facebook Live video will be used in the investigation. Andrea Saul, a Facebook spokeswoman, said: “People watching Live video can report potential violations of our Community Standards, and we will take the appropriate action.” She added: “We also encourage people to contact law enforcement if they see a Live stream in which someone is in danger.”  May the victims rest in peace.

Lane Graves Alligator Attack: More Details Emerge On Toddler’s Fatal Injuries

The drowning of 2-year-old Lane Graves by an alligator at Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort still haunts members of the public two months later. On the evening of June 14th, Graves was wading in the shallow waters of Seven Seas Lagoon, Disney’s man-made lake when an alligator snatched and dragged him underwater . The little boy’s body was found by divers six feet under water the next day,  just 10-15 feet away from where he was attacked.  Radar Online obtained a copy of the full autopsy , which rules the death as an “accident” and notes that Graves sustained fatal injuries to his “neck, scalp and skull.” Graves, whose family was enjoying a movie night on the beach, was “dressed in a pair of blue shorts” with a disposable diaper underneath, “worn with a short-sleeved T-shirt emblemized with the American flag.” The most severe injuries, according to the report, were around Graves’ head. “The right side of the scalp,” the coroner noted, revealed “a vertically-oriented laceration measuring 2.3 x 0.3 cm.” with “a maximal depth of 0.4 cm. “The skin on the left side of the hair-bearing scalp in the parietal region has two recent puncture wounds.” Graves’ skull was fractured, and the coroner found “abrasions on his eyelid, eyebrow and jaw.”  He concluded that Graves “died as the result of cranio-cervical trauma and drowning.” The alligator was eventually caught and killed by authorities.  Even though there is no swimming permitted in the lagoon, signs did not warn resort guests that alligators, snakes and other dangerous animals inhabited the waters.  Prior to the accident, lounge chairs would be set up on the beach for people to sunbathe, and the resort also hosted movie nights, like the one the Nebraska-based Graves took part in before their son was killed. Graves’ father, Matt tried to wrestle the boy out of the jaws of the alligator, but it was too late. We continue to keep the Graves family in our thoughts.

Whitney Houston Would Have Turned 53 Years Old Today

The music world has once again stopped to remember Whitney Houston.  The late and truly great singer would have celebrated her 53rd birthday today. Tragically, of course, Houston was taken from us far too soon when her body was found in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel in February of 2012. Despite the singer’s long-time struggle with substance abuse, it remains one of the more shocking deaths in Hollywood history. Fast forward four and a half years and many musicians still cannot believe Houston is gone. “#WhitneyHouston U are drawn on my wall becuz there will NEVER be another you VOCALLY! Or STYLE! We love u QUEEN,” wrote Missy Elliott on Twitter this morning. And she certainly was not lone in paying tribute to Whitney on her birthday. On Instagram, Jennifer Hudson  shared an old photo of the singer, writing as a caption to the image: “Happy birthday to the greatest Whitney Houston!” Then there was  Tika Sumpter , who co-starred in the movie Sparkle with Houston. Her Instagram message shared the same sentiment as that of Hudson, reading: “Whitney. The greatest. Miss you.” Back on Twitter, Paula Abdul retweeted a “We’ll always love you, Whitney Houston” message, to which she added: “Truly & always.”  Over now to And Jordin Sparks , who also starred in Sparkle and who Tweeted on this occasion: “Wishing Mama Whitney a Happy Birthday!! I miss you! Thank you so much for your kindness & love.” About a month after Houston died, officials determined that she passed away from a heart attack brought on by the use of cocaine . Her death was ruled an “accidental drowning.” Coroner Chief Craig Harvey said in a news conference that evidence pointed to Whitney as a “chronic” cocaine user and that the traces in her system were “acute,” meaning she took the drug very soon before she died. Making the story even sadder? Whitney’s only daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, also died of a drug overdose . Moreover, her body was also found in a bathtub, with this tragedy taking place in January of 2015 at a home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon. Controversy continues to swirl around Bobbi’s death, most notably the role Gordon played either in her drug habit or even in the hours leading up to her passing. Bobby Brown has gone so far as to even suggest Gordon murdered his daughter. But we’re not here now to get into any of that. We’re here to pay tribute to Whitney Houston and the incredible life she led. Whatever demons surrounded both her and Bobbi, let’s just hope each has now found peace on the other side. Together. May they rest in peace.

Robber Uses Human Brain to Get High, Names Brain "Freddy"

Well, this is … digusting. He’s currently serving time in a Pennsylvania jail for burglary, but what’s one more pending charge? 26-year-old Joshua Long is now facing accusations that he used a human brain to get high , according to the Huffington Post .   He was charged on July 15th with “abuse of a corpse.”   Long’s aunt found evidence (the evidence being the brain) under the porch of a trailer that once belonged to her sister, Angela Micklo and Robby Zoller, who are currently on the lam from police for robbery.   She was cleaning the place when she came across it, and called police immediately. The brain was in a display container inside a Walmart bag.   Apparently the formaldehyde used to preserve the organ can also get someone super high.   The term authorities use is “wet” marijuana, where you soak the drug in the formaldehyde before inhaling. This causes an “intense, hallucinating, and dangerous high.” Dude Tries, Fails to Shove Bag of Poop Down Woman’s Pants in Broad Daylight. #NYC. Long and Zoller used to smoke this wet marijuana together, and had left the evidence behind.  Under a porch.  In a trailer park.  Poor brain. According to police records, Long and Micklo nicknamed their temporary toy “Freddy” during their prison conversations, an apparent code name. The brain was brought to Cumberland County Coroner Charley Hall, where it’s believed that it was used for teaching purposes. “At this point now we’re just trying to figure out where it came from,” Trooper Robert Hicks told the press. “We’re hoping that if anyone is missing a human specimen brain to bring it to our attention and maybe we can return it to its rightful owner.”  Pat Beck, a neighbor in the trailer park, was shocked when she saw police arrive. “It just scares me to death,” she told Fox 43. “I didn’t think they were that kind of people, but nowadays, you never know.” View Slideshow: 23 Dumb Tweets That Have Actually Been Sent
