Paula Patton Set To Testify On Robin Thicke’s Behalf In “Blurred Lines” Case

Paula Patton Testifies For Robin Thicke Paula and Robin will reunite once again — this time to team up against Marvin Gaye’s estate and their claims that Robin stole elements from “Got To Give It Up” for his smash hit “Blurred Lines.” Via MailOnline : Paula Patton has been called by her estranged husband Robin Thicke to testify in the Blurred Lines copyright infringement case lodged against him by the family of Marvin Gaye. Thicke, 37, was sued in 2013 by Gaye’s family for allegedly stealing from the Gaye song “Got To Give It Up” for the 2013 hit “Blurred Lines” that was co-created by Thicke and Pharrell Williams. Patton, 39, was listed as a witness in the federal case headed to trial, according to a report on Wednesday by TMZ. The couple split in February 2014 after nine years of marriage. They co-parent their four-year-old son Julian. The lawsuit also contained allegations that Thicke’s hit song “Love After War” improperly used Gaye’s song “After The Dance.” Patton was expected to testify about “Love After War” as she appeared in the music video with Thicke and allegedly co-wrote the song with him. A U.S. federal judge in October denied a motion by Thicke and Williams to reject the copyright infringement claims. U.S. District Judge John A. Kronstadt found there was a a good argument about whether signature phrases, hooks, bass lines, keyboard chords and vocal melodies in “Blurred Lines” and “Got To Give It Up” were the same. A trial was scheduled to start on February 10 in Los Angeles. Robin lost his lady and might be about to lose a lot of cash as well…

Black-On-Black Crime: Boxer Jermain Taylor Charged With Shooting His Cousin Multiple Times

Couldn’t he have just beat him up instead??? SMH Former Boxing Champ Jermain Taylor Charged With Shooting Cousin Via ESPN Former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor was arrested Tuesday night at his home in Maumelle, Arkansas, a suburb of Little Rock, in connection with the shooting of his cousin, according to police. Taylor was taken into custody, booked into the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility and charged with two felonies — first-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault — Lt. Carl Minden, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, told ESPN.com. The cousin was in serious condition at a hospital after being shot multiple times, Minden said. Taylor appeared via video from the Pulaski County jail for an initial appearance Wednesday. District Judge Wayne Gruber set bail at $25,000 and granted a defense request for Taylor to travel out of state to train and compete in a bout against Sam Soliman in October. Minden said the police responded to a 911 call from Taylor’s wife, Erica, at around 7 p.m. ET. “Mr. Taylor’s cousin and another individual came to his residence, and there was some sort of altercation,” Minden said, adding that the two who showed up at Taylor’s home were unarmed. “At some point, Mr. Taylor retrieved a handgun and fired several rounds. His cousin was struck multiple times. The cousin is alive and in serious condition at an area hospital. He has pretty serious injuries. The other person was not struck, but Mr. Taylor had fired several rounds and missed.” Guess blood is just as thin as water. We gotta stop killing each other. We have enough enemies as it is. People Aint Isht: Woman Pleads Guilty To Killing Husband In His Sleep After Lying For 28 Years

What’s done in the dark will always come to light. Wife Admits To Killing Husband It took her 28 years to do the right thing. According to Houston Chronicle: It was supposed to be the work of a barefoot man who snuck into a Houston couple’s home in 1985, had forced sex with a woman, killed a man and escaped without a trace. In reality, it was a wife who shot her husband as he slept, then went on for 28 years living a lie. Carolyn Sue Krizan-Wilson, 71, admitted Wednesday in a Harris County courtroom that she shot Roy McCaleb, her husband of two years, almost three decades ago. “Guilty,” was all Krizan said when asked for her plea by state District Judge Ryan Patrick. In exchange for the plea, Krizan-Wilson was sentenced to six months in jail, which will be followed by 10 years probation. The relatively light punishment, though, was not as important as finding out the truth, said McCaleb’s daughter Pam Nalley. “She is willingly admitting that she murdered him and that’s something we’ve known all these years,” Nalley said. “I think that means more to me than anything.” James Stafford, an attorney for Krizan-Wilson said the septuagenarian is suffering from dementia and a host of other health issues and wanted to get past the case against her. McCaleb, a construction foreman, was 50 when he was killed on Sept. 22, 1985. Krizan-Wilson was 43. McCaleb was heavily sedated because of a recent back surgery, Krizan-Wilson said after the shooting. He was also recovering from a heart attack. SMH. In speaking to reporters after the death, Krizan-Wilson told a fantastic story about being car-jacked then raped about 10 days before the shooting by a barefoot man with a knife. She said she didn’t report it because she feared it would hinder her husband’s recuperation. Day later, she told authorities, the man came into the couple’s North Shore home through an unlocked door on a Sunday night. She claimed the man threatened her, scraped her with a coat hanger and dripped hot wax on her. He again held a knife to her throat and raped her, she said. The man then took the gun she kept under her pillow, went to where her husband was sleeping and shot him, she said. As the man fled the scene, she said, the two collided and the intruder dropped the gun. She picked it up and fired two shots after him as he fled, she reported. Days without a suspect or any new leads stretched into months, then years until investigators picked the cold case up again after 23 years. In 2008, police arrested the widow, who had been a civilian employee at the Houston Police Department as her two sons climbed the ranks as police officers. After the arrest, her attorneys argued that too much time had passed to indict Krizan-Wilson, a position that swayed former state District Judge Kevin Fine. Fine dismissed the case, and for the past five years, it wound its way through the appellate courts. The dismissal was reversed and sent back to the original court now presided over by Patrick. Krizan-Wilson will begin her six months in jail on Dec. 26. Six months in jail and 10 years probation for killing a man and lying about it for 28 years? If she was black, this isht would be a different story. Shutterstock

Update: Judge Resentences Teacher Rapist Who Got 30 Days In Jail After 14-Year-Old Victim Killed Herself

Lock up this creep and the judge ! Judge Resentences Teacher After Victim Kills Herself Via NewsOne reports: An embattled Montana judge is poised on Friday to try to undo his lenient sentence in the case of a teacher who raped a student, despite warnings from both prosecutors and the defense that he doesn’t have that authority. District Judge G. Todd Baugh stoked a furor when he sent former Billings Senior High School teacher Stacey Rambold to prison for just 30 days. The 71-year-old judge suggested in court that the 14-year-old victim shared responsibility in the case. The girl committed suicide in 2010 while the case was pending. After apologizing for his comments, Baugh now says a two-year minimum prison sentence appears mandatory and that his original sentence appears to be illegal. On the judge’s order, Rambold was returned from Montana State Prison for a Friday resentencing hearing in Billings. But the state already has appealed the case, and both prosecutors and the defense say only the Montana Supreme Court has the power to fix any mistakes made at the sentencing. On Thursday, the Montana Attorney General’s Office submitted an emergency petition asking justices to block the Friday resentencing. State attorneys said the hearing would “cause a gross injustice to an orderly appeal.” Baugh said earlier in the week that he intended to hold the hearing even if he was the only one who shows up. His office said late Thursday that the hearing would proceed. The reason we have laws to protect children is because their minds and bodies are not fully developed. Therefore they can make decisions that are not always in their best interests. A 14 year old girl, no matter how mature she looked and acted, is still a child. Continue reading

Really? Man Quits His Job And Considers Suicide After Discovering He Has Brain Cancer Then Sues Hospital Over Incorrect Diagnosis

A man finds out his cancer diagnosis is wrong after quitting his job and spending his life savings. You couldn’t make this ish up. Man Finds Out Cancer Diagnosis is Wrong According to The NY Daily News A Montana man was given six months to live — so he quit his job, spent all his cash and considered blowing his brains out. Mark Templin — in his mid-70s — sold his pickup truck, celebrated a “final” birthday, chose his funeral service and even asked his son-in-law to build him a box for his ashes. Entering into a deep depression, he regularly broke down into tears and moved into hospice care designed for end-of-life patients. He also prominently displayed a “Do Not Resuscitate” notice on his fridge so any first responders would let him die. But the 2009 diagnosis of brain cancer from doctors at Fort Harrison VA Medical Center was wrong. And this week the Helena native finally won $60,000 compensation for the serious error that made him believe for 148 terrifying days that he was dying. The Independent Record reports that Templin underwent more tests as he started to feel better. They revealed he had actually suffered a series of small strokes — meaning he would be around for some time to come. U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy wrote on May 6 that pain and anguish was caused by Dr Patrick Morrow’s “negligent failure to meet the standard of care” when delivering the diagnosis. “It is difficult to put a price tag on the anguish of a man wrongly convinced of his impending death,” Molloy wrote. He awarded Templin $500 per day for the initial period of severe mental and emotional distress and $300 per day for the latter period until he received his new diagnosis. The Medical Center was also ordered to repay the cost of the birthday party and funeral. Kudos to him for holding the hospital accountable and making them compensate him for their error. When The Checks Stop Coming In: Author Of “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” Goes Broke And Files For Bankruptcy

Bankrupt Dad? When you make millions giving financial advice to other people, the last thing anyone expects is for you to go bankrupt. Robert Kiyosaki, author of the best-selling book, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” has filed for bankruptcy. Kiyosaki made the move after being wiped out by a $24 million dollar lawsuit that he lost to the Learning Annex. Kiyosaki’s Rich Global LLC filed for bankruptcy after being ordered to pay nearly $24 million to the Learning Annex and its founder and chairman, Bill Zanker. US District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin in April ordered Rich Global to pay up $23,687,957.21 after a jury ruled Kiyosaki must give the Learning Annex a percentage of his profits after using their platform for speaking engagements, including a 2002 gig at Madison Square Garden. Rich Global filed for bankruptcy in Wyoming on Aug. 20. Zanker told us, “I took Kiyosaki’s brand and made it bigger. The deal was I would get a percentage, and he reneged. We had a signed letter of intent. The Learning Annex is the greatest promoter. We put his ‘Rich Dad’ brand on a stage. We truly prepared him for great fame and riches. But when it was time for him to pay up, he said ‘no.’ ” This has taken years in court. I won even more money than I asked for from the jury, then he declared corporate bankruptcy. Oprah believed in him, and Will Smith believed in him, but he didn’t keep his promise to us.” “Robert and [wife] Kim are not paying out of personal assets. We have a few million dollars in this company, but not 16 or 20. I can’t do anything about a $20 million judgment . . . We got hit for what we think is a completely outlandish figure.” Sounds like Kiyosaki won. He didn’t declare personal bankruptcy, just some defunct company with no money. Smart Dad after all. Source

Supreme Court Throws Out "Birther" Lawsuit

Somewhere, Donald Trump is so pissed … and quickly moving on to think up ways he can zing Miss Pennsylvania Sheena Monnin on the morning show circuit. The U.S. Supreme Court announced it will not hear an appeal of a lawsuit by plaintiffs – including Buena Park, Calif., Pastor Wiley Drake – claiming that Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen and so cannot legitimately hold the presidency. The nation’s highest court threw out the case , hopefully the last of its kind. The Prez scores a rare win … that he’d already “won” several times . Santa Ana-based U.S. District Judge David Carter as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit had previously ruled that the plaintiffs did not have legal standing. Putting the matter to rest, the Supreme Court upheld that ruling. Probably because Obama was born in Hawaii … imagine that. More interestingly and legitimately, a report recently suggested Obama may have once lied about being born in Kenya to boost his literary resume.

Black Man Gets 20 Years In Prison For Trying To Sneak Out Of US To Give al-Qaida Military Drones And GPS Equipment

Barry Walter Bujol Gets 20 Years For al-Qaida Connection Sneaky azz ninja! A Texas man convicted of trying to sneak out of the U.S. to give al-Qaida restricted military documents, GPS equipment and money was sentenced on Thursday to 20 years in prison — the maximum punishment he could receive. Barry Walter Bujol Jr. was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine during his sentencing hearing before U.S. District Judge David Hittner. “We do not take matters of potential national security lightly,” U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson said in a statement. “This case and its successful resolution represents our commitment to making our communities a safer place to live.” Before his sentence was handed down, Bujol told Hittner he never wanted to hurt anyone. He also said prosecutors were wrong in portraying him as a terrorist. Pakistan jails doctor who helped CIA find bin Laden “I’m a person, not a terrorist,” he said in a brief statement, adding that he had made some mistakes. Bujol’s attorney, Daphne Silverman, had asked for a sentence of seven years, telling Hittner that her client was not dangerous. “He’s an incredibly strong and peaceful person,” she said. But prosecutor Stephen McIntyre told Hittner that Bujol, in coded messages sent to people he believed were members of al-Qaida, advocated the destruction of U.S. drones and the murder of American soldiers. “The defendant talked about his desire to live and die with the brothers (members of al-Qaida),” McIntyre said. Hittner sentenced Bujol to 15 years for the charge related to trying to provide help to a terrorist group and five years for identity theft. The judge ordered the sentences be served consecutively. Prosecutors said Bujol, a U.S. citizen, sought to join al-Qaida and provide it with money, two nonpublic restricted-access Army manuals related to U.S. drones and GPS equipment. He was arrested in May 2010 following a two-year investigation after he used fake identification to sneak into a Houston port and board a ship bound for the Middle East. The 31-year-old said he never intended to harm the United States or any American citizens, and that he had wanted to leave the country because he was displeased with U.S. foreign policy, particularly drone attacks. He said he wanted to become a better Muslim. “We are using drones to murder and attack people,” Silverman told Hittner. “It was a valid position (Bujol) was taking … to disapprove of drones. That’s what his concern was, defending people and not hurting people.” According to court documents, Bujol used at least 14 email addresses to hide his activities from authorities, and he advocated attacking U.S. facilities where military weapons were manufactured. Bujol, who lived in Hempstead, about 50 miles northwest of Houston, was a student at nearby Prairie View A&M University. Tariq Ahmed, an attorney with the Muslim Civil Liberties Union, which also worked on Bujol’s case, said many Muslims in Houston were afraid to speak out on Bujol’s behalf because they didn’t want to be associated with a terror-related case.
