In White Folks News: ‘Sesame Street’ Creators Sue Production Company Behind Melissa McCarthy’s New Movie

Mike Smith/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images Melissa McCarthy’s New Film Sparks Lawsuit From Sesame Street Creators The creators of Sesame Street are suing the production company behind a new  Melissa McCarthy  comedy, that features “ejaculating puppets” which resemble the children’s show’s beloved characters, according to court docs. Sesame Workshop filed the suit claiming that the producers behind The Happytime Murders  are making a “deliberate attempt” to appropriate their brand in order to promote their film. The lawsuit reads: “Defendants’ widely-distributed marketing campaign features a just-released trailer with explicit, profane, drug-using, misogynistic, violent, copulating, and even ejaculating puppets, along with the tagline ‘NO SESAME. ALL STREET.” The comedy is set to be released in August, and is a murder mystery that revolves around puppets who exhibit raunchy, adult behavior. Sesame Workshop is alleging that the misuse of its brand infringes on its “intellectual property rights.” The company is imploring the movie to drop the “NO SESAME” slogan from their ads while seeking compensatory and punitive damages. A spokesman for the movie production company, STX, released a statement that proved the film is standing it’s ground. “STX loved the idea of working closely with Brian Henson and the Jim Henson Company to tell the untold story of the active lives of Henson puppets when they’re not performing in front of children,” read a statement attributed to a puppet character named Fred, Esq. It went on to say, “While we’re disappointed that Sesame Street does not share in the fun, we are confident in our legal position. We look forward to introducing adult moviegoers to our adorably unapologetic characters this summer.”

Ice Cube And Dr. Dre Cleared In Hit-And-Run Death On The Set Of “Straight Outta Compton”

Ice Cube And Dr. Dre Cleared Of Responsibility In Hit And Run Death Remember when Suge Knight ran over one of his former friends — killing him in the process — as security tried to block him from entering the set of Straight Outta Compton back in early 2015? While Suge awaits trial for the murder, the family is suing everyone they thing is involved in the man’s tragic death…including Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. However, a judge has ruled that the blame lies solely with Suge . All claims against the rapper/moguls have been dropped. Via TMZ : Good news for Ice Cube and Dr. Dre — they’ve been dismissed from the wrongful death lawsuit that had been filed against them and Suge Knight for the death of Terry Carter. A court ruled Cube and Dre aren’t responsible for Carter’s death because it’s unfathomable to blame them for Knight’s reckless and allegedly criminal act — running over and killing Carter. TMZ broke the story … Cube and Dre were named defendants, along with Suge, when Carter’s family filed the suit … claiming Cube and Dre hired known gang members as security to keep Knight away from “Straight Outta Compton” shoot locations. Suge ran over Carter shortly after security gave him the boot, and the family felt that’s what sent him into him into a rage. The lawsuit remains against Suge, who also has a murder trial pending for the fatal hit-and-run. Well, good. At the end of the day, no one ran over that poor man — may he rest in peace — but Suge Knight. Splash/WENN/FFN/AKM-GSI

Ben Roethlisberger Settles Andrea McNulty Rape Lawsuit; Terms Not Disclosed

Ben Roethlisberger has settled the lawsuit filed against him by Andrea McNulty in 2009 – the first of two incidents in which he was accused of sexual assault. The civil lawsuit filed by McNulty, a former Lake Tahoe casino host, claiming the NFL star raped her while he was in town for a golf tournament in 2008. Neither side will say if Andrea McNulty was paid in the settlement. McNulty filed the suit in Washoe District Court in 2009, claiming Roethlisberger lured her into his Harrah’s penthouse suite and forced her to have sex. The suit also named a list of Harrah’s employees, claiming they covered up the alleged sexual assault to protect the Pittsburgh Steelers superstar. McNulty’s lawyer, Cal Dunlap, refused to discuss the terms of the case . Roethlisberger’s lawyer, David Cornwell, and his agent, also had no comment. McNulty claimed Roethlisberger asked her to come to his suite to fix his broken television, only to force her onto the bed and rape her, the suit said. Lawyers for Roethlisberger denied the claims, and the casino denied covering it up. McNulty was accused by some of trying to extort money from him. The star faced similar allegations in Georgia only one year later when a second Ben Roethlisberger accuser said he sexually assaulted her after a night of drinking. Authorities investigated the allegations, but no charges were filed.

Tonya Cooley Alleges Toothbrush Rape By Real World Co-Stars, Sues MTV

Tonya Cooley, a cast member on MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins, is suing the network after claiming she was raped on set … with a toothbrush. Cooley filed the suit against MTV, Bunim/Murray Productions, Kenneth Santucci, Evan Starkman and others. According to her lawsuit , the two male co-stars: “Took another male participant’s toothbrush and rubbed the toothbrush around plaintiff’s genitals, including her labia, and inserting the toothbrush into plaintiff’s vagina.” Cooley says it happened while she was passed out and cameras were rolling. Tonya Cooley also says producers not only knew about the rape, they even replaced the toothbrush, never telling her what happened while she was out cold. The suit also claims that female cast members were stripped of their bathing suits and that male cast members were encouraged by producers to “inappropriately touch female cast members’ bodies, including in intimate areas.” Cooley alleges she and other cast members reported incidents of sexual abuse, but show honchos turned a blind eye … and she was later kicked off the show. According to Cooley, she was later booted from the show after slapping a cast member. She says nothing happened to the men who allegedly raped her. Cooley is suing for unspecified damages. Calls to MTV have not been returned. Obviously, if that’s even remotely true, it’s reprehensible and merits action. In less scandalous and tawdry MTV News, Beavis and Butt-Head are back .
