Firewalls Up! Porn “Accidentally” Plays At Michigan Middle School In The Middle Of History Lesson

Source: JONATHAN NACKSTRAND / Getty Investigators Couldn’t Determine How The Video Popped Up At O.L. Smith Middle School in Michigan, a substitute teacher was trying to cue up a video of Lewis and Clark for history. So imagine the seventh graders surprise when a porn clip from the Internet popped up instead. It played for AT LEAST 30 seconds before it could be cut off. According to Fox 2 , Dearborn Public Schools are blaming the situation on a technology glitch… Mhm. “In this particular instance, it appears there was some sort type of loophole – one time too many – but very isolated,” said David Mustonen, the communication director for Dearborn, Michigan schools. He said with thousands of logins a day, things kids shouldn’t see usually don’t get through. “Are we looking into this particular instance, are we making sure this doesn’t happen again, yes, absolutely,” he said. “Do we need to scrap everything and start over? No, nowhere near that.” Questions still remain on how the pornographic video even made it to the screen in that particular moment. Did the substitute pull it up? Was their a typo in a search? The district denies both these things. “The substitute teacher that was in the classroom was unaware that this video was there,” Mustonen said. When Fox 2 asked the Dearborn police if a student was possibly pranking the teacher, authorities said there’s no evidence of this. A letter was sent home with the history class kids, alerting parents about the “unfortunate and rare occurrence.” The district says support was made available to students who needed it after watching the images. The Dearborn police sergeant over school resource officers said, on their end, the investigation is closed, and they found “no criminal intent.” As a precaution, the district won’t bring back the substitute since they can’t confirm how the movie came about.

Supernatural is Actually Coming to an End

The series some thought would never die, based around creatures who often refuse to die, is finally set to say goodbye. We never thought we’d see the day. But The CW announced on Friday afternoon that Supernatural will wrap its incredible run after its upcoming 15th season, which will consist of 20 episodes. Beloved stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins confirmed the news in a video posted on Instagram late this week. “Well, it’s official. One more round for the Winchester brothers. Though nothing ever really ends in Supernatural…does it?” Ackles wrote alongside this footage from the cast. Supernatural will conclude after 327 episodes, making it the longest-running sci-fi/genre series in the history of American broadcast television. Rather impressive, huh? “We just told the crew that though we’re very, very excited about moving into our 15th season, it will be our last,” Ackles says in the video, adding: “Fifteen years of a show that has certainly changed my life… And we just wanted you to hear from us that though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale. The big, grand finale of an institution. The actors were barely able to hold it together in this message to fans. “We’ve cried some tears, and we’ll cry some more,” a very emotional Padalecki added. “[We’re] grateful, and we’ll work all the emotion into next season.” Said executive producers Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb in a joint statement after the news went viral: Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us it has been an experience of a lifetime. The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve. We’re not crying over here, okay? YOU’RE the one who is crying. The CW President Mark Pedowitz has often said at the Television Critics Association press tour that if the ratings held up, the show would go on as long as Ackles and Padalecki wanted to do it. Elsewhere, series creator Eric Kripke said the following in a Tweet: #SPNFamily please remember: shows end. But family is forever. That never changes & that’s what you’ve created here. All my love & thanks to the cast & crew & most of all you, the family. #spn @cw_spn@jarpad @JensenAckles @mishacollins @andrewdabb @serathegamble @ben_edlund. Are you glad to see Supernatural ending? Is it about time? Or do you wish it had run forever and ever? View Slideshow: 19 Best Shows in CW History: Ranked!

31 Days, 31 Inspiring Women: Ava Duvernay

Source: Xilla Valentine / GlobalGrind March is Women’s History Month and we’re celebrating 31 different women over the month, spanning the worlds of entertainment, politics, local, global and beyond. Entry number 14 on our list is one of the women in Hollywood showcasing our stories, whether it be in the form of documentaries, feature films and more. Always looking to shine a light on the marginalized among us, this particular woman was the first black female director nominated for the Academy Award of Best Documentary Feature in 2017 and has made strides not only amplifying the voices of female directors but black men and children as well. She is Ava DuVernay, the visionary and one of our 31 inspiring women.  Ava DuVernay ‘s story is one that there is no exact age you have to reach in order to find your passion or make it. Years after graduating from UCLA, the Compton born DuVernay tried her hand at filmmaking in 2007. Crafting a 12-minute short titled  Saturday Night Life , it was in dedication to her mother as she spotlighted a single mother with three children taking her children to the grocery store. Who knew that some seven years later, her first major feature film would be nominated for Best Picture at the 87th Academy Awards? DuVernay became the first Black woman to helm a film with a budget of $100 million with 2018’s  A Wrinkle In Time , a year after she was nominated for Best Documentary Film when she created  13th , a film centered around how the 13th amendment may not have fully led to the abolishment of slavery but rather established the prison industrial complex and focused it mainly on black and brown bodies. It’s not just the big screen when it comes to DuVernay making changes across the board. When she was announced as the show runner for OWN’s  Queen Sugar , she decided to have all women direct each and every episode of the show. Much like everything she’s touched, it’s been critically acclaimed and then some. Not bad for a woman who didn’t pick up a camera to film and shape the world in her eyes until she was 33. FUN FACT:  For all of her work, DuVernay is the first for a number of awards. She’s the first Black woman to win the award for Best Director at Sundance, the first black director to be nominated for Best Director at the Golden Globes and the first Black woman to have her film nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. QUOTE:  “Creativity is an energy. It’s a precious energy, and it’s something to be protected. A lot of people take for granted that they’re a creative person, but I know from experience, feeling it in myself, it is a magic; it is an energy. Source: Jason LaVeris / Getty March is Women’s History Month and we’re celebrating 31 different women over the month, spanning the worlds of entertainment, politics, local, global and beyond. Entry number 12 on our list gave us life as an awkward black woman trying to make it and in turn created a platform for others to create short films, present them to the world and more. On top of that, she has a hit show on HBO that everyone tunes into on Sunday night and causes workplace debates and then some the next day. It’s power. The more she continues to stretch what it means to be a black woman in search of herself and owning her own talents and confidence on TV? The more black girls and others who are inspired by her will take that mantle to an even higher level. Meet Issa Rae, a TV maverick and one of our 31 inspiring women. Issa Rae supposedly made it when Insecure , her HBO television series co produced with TV vet Larry Wilmore became one of the more talked about shows in 2016 but if you dive deeper into her history, whether it be writing her own scripts or crafting web series then you know Issa Rae and Issa Rae Productions have been crafting platforms and doing amazing things on YouTube for a minute. She’s a best-selling author and actress now and as Insecure is set to return in the fall for its fourth season, the sky is the limit for Los Angeles born writer and actress. To think, it almost was about the law as opposed to acting as she was set on going to law school after college graduation but when Awkward Black Girl took off, the law school dreams faded away too. What helps Issa? Knowing that it’s not all on her. “Find a good team. Find a good team,” she told Women’s Health . “It matters…It’s enabled me to not lose my mind.” FUN FACT: She and singer Jidenna both attended Stanford University and she graduated in 2007. Years later, Jidenna appeared in Season 1 of Insecure as “Chris”. QUOTE: “I thrive on obstacles. Divine Fem-list: 13 Powerful Songs To Have You Basking In Your Black Woman-ness

Source: Mint Images – Tim Robbins / Getty Interestingly, Women’s History Month comes right after Black History Month — which means double the celebration of Black Women. If there’s one thing BW love, it’s music. Music isn’t just the universal language; it also has therapeutic and medicinal effects. Hence the reason why music therapy is actually a thing. According to Psychology Today : “Music therapy has demonstrated efficacy as an independent treatment for reducing depression, anxiety and chronic pain. Furthermore, music has positive physical effects. It can produce direct biological changes, such as reducing heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol levels. “Alternative and complementary treatments such as creative art, meditation, and yoga have been proposed to bridge this gap. But music, because of its ubiquity in our society as well as its ease of transmission, has perhaps the greatest potential among alternative therapies to reach people who do not otherwise have access to care.” Black women (especially in America) have had their fair share of trauma — past and present. Some would even say that most BW suffer from a form of PTSD. Author, and licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Monnica T. Williams says that African American women experience the same traumas as other women, but at higher rates. As we know, many Black folks are hesitant about seeking professional help for their trauma. There’s a deep rooted stigma related to therapy due to the fear of judgement or shame of not relying on God for help. A 2008 study by Psychologist Jennifer Alvidrez   found that “among Blacks who were already mental health consumers, over a third felt that mild depression or anxiety would be considered crazy” in their social circles. Talking about problems with an outsider  may be viewed as airing one’s “dirty laundry,” and even more telling is the fact that over a quarter of those consumers felt that discussions about mental illness would not be appropriate even among family.” Fortunately, that stigma is being debunked. Thanks to people like Dr. Joy Harden Bradford , a licensed psychologist based in Atlanta, Georgia and founder of Therapy for Black Girls, it’s much easier and more socially acceptable to seek help for mental matters. Music may not take the place of professional help, but it definitely aid and speeds up the healing process. The Walking Dead Recap: Henry Proves He’s the WORST

Who knew that starting a love story in a post-apocalyptic world with people from two very different factions would result in The Walking Dead being better than ever? Sunday’s episode picked up with Alpha grilling her daughter, Lydia for information about the Hilltop, but the teenager did not want to give up too much.  Alpha couldn’t help but call Lydia’s responses “excuses, wasted words,” and the youngster questioned whether her mother had only saved her to get intel.  “What a stupid question,” sneered Alpha.  Henry then popped up from the shadows, knocked a whisperer out, before being captured. The kid is the worst, but he’s helping introduce us to the world of these new villains.  Alpha told Beta to keep him alive because he could make for a good bargaining chip down the line.  One of the Whisperers then took aim at Alpha because she broke the code by saving Lydia. If you watch The Walking Dead online , you know that the villains leave people behind if they lose them.  Alpha previously heard the man’s girlfriend question her leadership, so Alpha repaid her by using wire to behead her. She then gave the man the head and stabbed him.  Yes, the Whisperers are scary AF.  Things took a wild turn when Alpha threw a knife on the ground in between Lydia and Henry and instructed her daughter to kill the Hilltopper.  When she refused, she was told that Beta would kill both of them if one of them did not kill the other.  In a truly genius twist, Daryl and Connie led a group of walkers into the camp, leading the Whisperers to make a run for it.  Daryl and Connie then snatched Henry and Lydia and made their way out of the carnage.  Back in Alexandria, Michonne learned the hard way that her people had been keeping things from her.  The council was fractured under her rule, with Siddiq and Gabriel countering that the votes hold no weight because Michonne could undo whatever decisions she doesn’t agree with.  Aaron fought Michonne’s corner because he was worried about the effect the new walker-wearing enemies could have on the community.  Michonne did not want any of her people going to the upcoming fair as a result of everything that was going on beyond the walls.  Negan heard all of the bickering and tried to use it as a way of getting close to Michonne, but the sword-wielding beauty was having none of it.  She shut him down, told him he would be spending the rest of his time alive inside the prison, and he was okay with it. Michonne spotted Judith through the window, clearly on her way to visit Negan.  An argument ensued, and Judith argued that Negan was a human and not a monster. Michonne countered that Negan had killed many of her friends.  “People don’t really change,” said Michonne, but that wasn’t enough to get Judith to agree.  “You did,” the kid said, prompting Michonne to send her to her room.  Michonne then went to Aaron to let him know that she was allowing a vote for the fair to go ahead, but Aaron was not high on the idea.  “I think it’s a terrible idea,” she admitted, “but the people can weigh the risks and choose. That’s the charter they agreed to.” Okay then.  What did you think of all the drama?  The Walking Dead continues Sundays on AMC. View Slideshow: The Walking Dead Season 9: What’s About to Go Down?

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Recap: Nene Leakes GOES OFF on Everyone

Nene Leakes going OFF on just about everyone was foreshadowed in a recent trailer for The Real Housewives of Atlanta.  The star delivered one of the most convincing freakouts in the history of the franchise. Let’s start from the top of the hour because we have a lot to unpack.  Nene thought it would be a good idea to throw a party called “Bye, Wig,” and it meant all of the women had to attend with their natural hair.  It’s a great idea for a party, but would all of the ladies really want to leave their glam locks behind? Not a chance.  The day before the big event, however, things took a worrying turn. Nene’s husband, Gregg, was sent back to the hospital when a blood clot was revealed to be in his leg.  Gregg was worried about the way Nene was acting, so he turned to Cynthia Bailey and Marlo Hampton to get them to check on his wife.  Marlo instantly made her way to the house and was mad that Nene was not home to greet her with open arms.  Marlo repaid Nene by showing up late to the party. Nene was ready and waiting for a fight because Marlo had been arguing with her via text message.  “If you have a friend who’s in pain and hurting, how do you come to them yelling and fussing?” NeNe shouted at Marlo. “I want you to take this more seriously, because it’s bothering me,” Marlo shot back, adding:  “I was in tears. I don’t know with the way depression is in this word; people are committing suicide. I don’t know what’s your breaking point.” “Marlo support me b—, don’t f—ing fight me, Nene complained. “I’m going through every pain. I am your sister, b—; I’m going with a lot of things.” Nene was in tears by this point, and everyone rallied around her.  “I have definitely seen NeNe go from zero to 100, but this is a total breakdown,” Porsha Williams told the camera. “This is probably NeNe at her most vulnerable state.” “I’m not a devastated person,” NeNe sobbed. “You know I don’t break down in front of people.” “I’m at my breaking point,” Nene admitted in a confessional. “I feel like people don’t understand. They don’t get it.” Nene and Marlo managed to patch things up, and all seemed right in the world.  But that couldn’t be further from the truth. The ladies made their way to Nene’s closet and started looking inside, and the embattled housewife flipped out.  NeNe Leakes Flips Out, Attacks Camera Crew on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Nene wanted everyone out … including the Bravo cameras.  As tensions arose, Nene grabbed a cameraman and threated to “f–k [them] up” if they didn’t leave.  The episode came to a close with screams ringing out.  Yes, we totally need to wait until next week for more drama.  View Slideshow: The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 11: All the Secrets… EXPOSED!
