Robert Pattinson: ‘I Should’ve Been Nominated’ For More MTV Movie Awards

‘It’s a disappointment,’ ‘Twilight’ star says of ‘New Moon’ sweep at the show. By Larry Carroll, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News Twilighters love Rob Pattinson for many reasons, including his charm, his humility and his well-documented good looks. The guy is already on the cover of every magazine in your local supermarket, has T-shirts and dolls emblazoned with his face and spent Sunday once again dominating the MTV Movie Awards. So, could it all finally be going to his head? “To be honest,” the man affectionately known as RPattz began backstage, “I should’ve been nominated in a few more categories.” Ex-squeeze-us? That’s right — when he wasn’t kissing Kristen Stewart onstage , Rob’s lips were spitting out the sort of statements typically uttered by spoiled Hollywood folk. “It’s a disappointment,” Rob said of “New Moon” winning so many awards Sunday evening. “It’s an OK result. “I think it’s only three,” he added when we caught up with him. “We did better last year .” But wait! Watch the tape closely and you may recognize that sly smile, easy laugh and self-deprecating hand through the hair. He’s being playful, he’s being silly — it’s the old RPattz ! All that fame still hasn’t changed him! That’s right, folks — in this world of over-saturated, spoiled stars, it’s good to know that at least one guy in Hollywood still knows how to laugh at himself. From appearing alongside Taylor Lautner in “Bad Ass Cops” to playfully kissing KStew to making sure that he stopped to talk with us backstage, we likely won’t have to worry about him making the above statements for real anytime soon. Like Edward Cullen himself, he’s an old-fashioned gentleman and a throwback to simpler times. Bret Michaels ‘Stabilized’ After Brain Hemorrhage

Poison frontman was rushed to the hospital Thursday night and was said to be in critical condition. By Larry Carroll Bret Michaels Photo: Nancy Mazzei In the immediate hours following Bret Michaels’ hospitalization for a brain hemorrhage, his fans have been poring over various websites looking for a hopeful update on the Poison frontman’s health. Now, encouraging word has leaked that Michaels may be better off than initially feared. TMZ is reporting that Michaels is “awake, in good spirits and talking” as of Friday evening (April 23). This information comes from Ambre Lake, the season-two winner of Michaels’ “Rock of Love” reality show. TMZ reports that Lake has spoken with people close to Bret who say he’s “stabilized and conscious.” Lake’s status update on the 47-year-old hair-metal legend is said to coincide with another unidentified “Rock of Love” contestant who is in touch with the other members of Poison. Michaels was rushed to the hospital late Thursday evening, where doctors discovered he had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage, a rep for the singer confirmed to MTV News. “After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause [of the hemorrhage],” the source told People. “[It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation.” The next 24 to 48 hours are considered critical for Michaels, and he will be closely monitored by the staff at the undisclosed hospital. Most recently, Michaels has been a contestant on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” Related Videos The Poison And Bret Michaels Video Playlist Related Artists Bret Michaels

Katie Stevens Makes ‘Let It Be’ Her Own On ‘American Idol’

‘You’re blossoming,’ Kara DioGuardi tells the Connecticut teen during Lennon/McCartney week. By Larry Carroll Katie Stevens performs on “American Idol” Tuesday Photo: Fox It’s one of the most famous songs of all time, and the lyrics are instantly recognizable to anyone from Dallas to Dubai. But Tuesday night (April 6) on “American Idol,” one of the contestants made “Let It Be” her own. Wearing a short pink dress with her hair pulled back, Connecticut’s Katie Stevens broke out of the “Idol” top-nine episode with a somber rendition of the 30-year-old song. Following a thunderous response from the audience — which included her family, holding an “I love my family because they love Katie Stevens” sign — the judges unanimously gushed over Stevens’ heart-tugging vocals. “That was your best performance ever,” Randy Jackson beamed, praising the song that Katie said her father used to play for her in the car. “That was ridiculous.” Ellen DeGeneres, meanwhile, praised her for “changing it just enough without disrespecting the song,” while Kara DioGuardi agreed, saying, “You make the song your own. You’re blossoming.” “It felt, to me, that you were singing it about somebody rather than being robotic,” Simon Cowell agreed. “And that’s a big difference.” Paul McCartney certainly wasn’t being robotic when he recorded “Let It Be” in early 1969 for the release of the same-named album that marked the Beatles’ final effort. Recorded during a period of rapidly increasing acrimony between the members of the world’s greatest rock band, McCartney has said that he was inspired to write the song after a calming dream about his mother Mary — who had died of cancer when he was 14 — during the tense period of his life. Ranked #20 on Rolling Stone ‘s 2004 list of the 500 greatest songs of all time, “Let It Be” reached #1 on the Billboard charts in April 1970. In perhaps the latest great testament to its legacy, “Let It Be” has become an “Idol” favorite: Brooke White performed it in season seven, while Kris Allen put his unique spin on the song during a recent results show. Jay Leno Tells Joy Behar ‘Conan Got Screwed’

Backstage at ‘The Tonight Show,’ Behar interviewed the host about the late-night battle. By Kyle Anderson Jay Leno and Joy Behar backstage at “The Tonight Show” Photo: CNN It has been a month since Jay Leno returned to his seat behind the desk of “The Tonight Show,” following a prolonged three-way battle between himself, former “Tonight Show” host Conan O’Brien and NBC. Since O’Brien closed up shop, he has started one of the best Twitter feeds on the Internet and is about to embark on a national tour (cleverly dubbed the Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour ). Meanwhile, Leno surged ahead of longtime rival David Letterman in the ratings, and he remains willing to speak out about the fiasco that unfolded at the beginning of the year. “The View” host Joy Behar was a guest on “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday, and in a behind-the-scenes video blog she filed for CNN , Leno spoke frankly about what happened at NBC. “Conan got screwed,” he said. “I got screwed. I mean, this is TV. The reason show business pays a lot of money is so when you get screwed, you’ve got something left over. If you’re a nurse or a cop and you get screwed out of your pension, you’re screwed out of your pension. On TV, at least you walk away with some money.” Leno told Behar that he feels bad about how O’Brien was treated and hopes that the spirit of competition between them will continue. “Conan was treated terribly, and I was treated terribly. I think Conan will come back and he’ll be strong, and we’ll all compete against one another. It should be me against Letterman against Conan against [Jimmy] Kimmel, and then we’ll see who wins.” Behar then called Kimmel “a bit of a turncoat,” referring to the incident in January when he went on “The Jay Leno Show” and slammed the host . But Leno is letting that water flow under the bridge. “What are you gonna go? Welcome to showbiz,” he said. “All comics are friends. When you go on stage, your job is to blow the other guy off the stage. I get it! That’s the way it works. You don’t impede someone else’s opportunity, but when you go out there, that’s what you do.” Are you watching “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno as host? Let us know in the comments!

Stephanie Pratt Predicts ‘Hills’ Stars’ Futures

‘I will have a closet the size of a house,’ Stephanie Pratt says about her future. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Stephanie Pratt Photo: MTV News Though the upcoming season of “The Hills” will be its last, star Stephanie Pratt is confident that in just six seasons, the series has left its mark on the world of reality TV. “It’s hard to get nostalgic yet, since we just started filming this season, and it hasn’t even aired yet,” she told MTV News on the red carpet of the “Clash of the Titans” red carpet in L.A. on Wednesday night. “It’s definitely sad to know that we’re not going to see the crew every day. … I know I’ll see the girls all the time. And the legacy — it was such a huge phenomenon. It’s really, really special to be a part of something like this. The fact that it had six seasons, I think, says everything.” So, could she see a reunion in 30 years after the season debuts this April 27? “I think that would be really fun to do,” she said. “I don’t know about a show, but some kind of reunion to see what we all look like and stuff.” Pratt shared her predictions for what life after “The Hills” would hold for her and her friends. “I will have a closet the size of a house,” she mused. “That’s what I’m looking for. I just want a closet, a really big one. “Lo is gonna be married with kids. Brody will be like the bachelor, still getting all the hot Italian girls,” she joked. “Spencer and Heidi? I have no idea; they always surprise me. I really don’t even know what’s going on with them. And Audrina will be an actress. And Lauren will have 20 books under her belt.” What do you think the “Hills” crew will be do after the show’s finale? Tell us in the comments! “The Hills: Final Season” premieres April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Nicole Scherzinger Bringing ‘Spirit And Energy’ To ‘Dancing With The Stars’

‘I just want to connect with everyone out there in a completely different way,’ she says of her stint on the popular show. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Nicole Scherzinger Photo: MTV News When “Dancing With the Stars” kicks off Monday night (March 22), pop star and experienced dancing pro Nicole Scherzinger will be one of the many familiar faces set to take the stage as a competitor on the popular ABC reality show. And while fans are used to seeing Scherzinger shimmy around onstage during Pussycat Dolls concerts, she said she wants fans to see a whole new side of her in the dance competition. “With this show, I feel like people are so used to seeing me in a certain light — they think they know me, but they don’t,” she said. “I just want to connect with everyone out there in a completely different way. I’m gonna have a lot of fun.” To get into a competitive mind-set, she’s using a particular Pussycat Dolls song for inspiration. “It’s, like, a lot of loosening up your buttons,” she joked about how she plans to win. “This show is a completely different style of dance with a completely different style of music, which means a completely different personality, spirit and energy. So I’m excited to share that with everyone.” Scherzinger will hit the dance floor with “DWTS” vet Derek Hough, and she warned: Expect the unexpected. “We’ve got some really interesting things planned. We want to do things differently, our own way,” she explained . “We’ve got some surprises that we’re planning. There’s so much to learn from him, because he’s the best. He’s an amazing choreographer. He’s so innovative.” Related Photos The 2010 Cast Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Lauren Conrad Designs Clothes, Writes Books, ‘Doesn’t Sleep Much’

‘It’s all about fitting it into your schedule,’ she says of juggling her many tasks. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad is a very busy lady. With a fashion brand and best-selling novels with a movie adaptation in the works , what’s the key to LC’s success? Time management. “Well, I meet up with the team several times a month and we have lots of conference calls,” she said about how she manages to design her line while writing her “L.A. Candy” books as well as producing the film version. “It’s just something I’m doing throughout the day. It’s all about fitting it into your schedule. I don’t sleep much.” She also juggles her duties, writing some days and designing clothes during others. “Well, they’re all different. There are days when I spend my entire day writing. There’s days like today where I’m dealing with the [fashion] line all day,” she explained. “I’ve always loved fashion. It’s always been my number one, but I’m really enjoying all the different things I’m getting to do right now.” So is LC going to add any new projects to her already busy schedule? The answer, for now, is no. “I like where I’m at right now,” she said. “I think I’m at a good place where I’ll see all those [projects] through.” For now, Conrad has hooked up with department store Kohl’s for her LC by Lauren Conrad clothing brand — if fans have always admired the former “Hills” star’s laid-back, girly sense of style, now they can achieve the look. “It’s very much a California brand. It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it — relaxed cool without trying too hard,” she told MTV News at a press event for the line, adding that there’s a piece in her collection for every occasion.

Lauren Conrad Brings ‘Accessible’ Clothing Line To Kohl’s

‘It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it,’ she says of her LC by Lauren Conrad brand. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad has hooked up with department store Kohl’s for her LC by Lauren Conrad clothing brand — if fans have always admired former “Hills” star’s laid-back, girly sense of style, now they can achieve the look. “It’s very much a California brand. It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it — relaxed cool without trying to hard,” she told MTV News at a press event for the line, adding that there’s a piece in her collection for every occasion. “I have a few [favorite pieces] … a favorite piece for what? You have to dress the part!” she laughed. “I do a lot of basics, so we have a great blazer, a high-waisted black skirt and biker jacket and all those pieces can be traded throughout … it’s a lot of layering, a lot of switching-up, so you can get more mileage.” There’s a reason the line is very feminine — LC only has plans to design for the ladies. “I’m not a boy,” she joked, adding she’s too “selfish” to design clothes that she can’t wear herself. And while there were probably other retailers clamoring to get LC’s designs in their stores, she had a very specific reason for working with Kohl’s. “They’re very accessible. They’re everywhere and they’re online and they’re affordable,” she explained. “It was a fun way for me to work with a really great company and to say, ‘This is what I think is going to be in in a couple months’ and ‘This is what I’m gonna wear at a great price point and great quality.’ ”

What Would Nicole Scherzinger ‘Telephone’ Lady Gaga About?

‘I would ask her if she could design my next costume for my next music video,’ Pussycat Dolls frontwoman says. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Nicole Scherzinger Photo: MTV News In honor of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” music video premiere on Thursday, MTV News got celebrities to weigh in on what they would ask Gaga about on a phone call, if they could ask about anything in the world. So, this week we will be rolling out their burning questions for the pop princess. And stay tuned to MTV News for more on the “Telephone” video. If anybody has access to call Lady Gaga up and chat for a bit, it’s Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger , who toured with Gaga in 2009 . And if Scherzinger can get her on the phone, she’s got a few specific things she’d like to ask. “If I could call Lady Gaga on the phone and ask her for anything … I would ask her if she could design my next costume for my next music video. No, I would ask her to do a song with me,” she joked. “Because she is flipping brilliant.” After getting the career-related stuff out of the way, she’s got a question about a little something she gave Gaga a while back. “I’d ask her, you know what I would say, I say, ‘Gaga, you still have those really pretty Vivienne Westwood earrings that I bought you when we were on tour?’ And if she says, ‘Yeah,’ I’ll say, ‘OK, cool, you remember those earrings, right? Yeah, when are we going to do a song together?” she joked. And while Scherzinger is currently in reinvention mode with the Pussycat Dolls , she told us she admires Gaga’s ability to constantly reinvent her own look. “Already within the year, two years she’d been on the scene, she’s just always inspiring us with music,” she said. “She’s reinvented herself eight times this past week!” What would you call Lady Gaga about?
