Shady Business: Neiman Marcus Faces Federal Charges For Selling Real Animal Fur As “Faux Fur”

People are doing ANYTHING to keep PETA off their a$$ nowadays… Neiman Marcus Violates Federal Law With Fake Faux Fur Sales Via CBSNews : The Federal Trade Commission says that a trio of retailers, including Neiman Marcus, have agreed to settle charges that they falsely claimed certain products were made of “faux” fur, when they actually contained real fur. In addition to the upscale department store operator, the retailers include DrJays.com Inc. and Eminent Inc., doing business as Revolve Clothing. The FTC says the companies also violated federal laws by not naming the animal that the fur came from. The FTC also charged that The Neiman Marcus Group Inc. falsely claimed that a rabbit fur product had mink fur, and failed to disclose the fur country of origin for three fur products. Under the proposed settlement, the retailers would be prohibited from violating the laws for 20 years. According to the FTC, Neiman Marcus’s website misrepresented the fur content and failed to disclose the animal name and fur country of origin for three products: a Burberry Outerwear Jacket, a Stuart Weitzman Ballerina Flat shoe, and an Alice + Olivia Kyah Coat. Neiman Marcus also misrepresented the fur content of the shoe in its catalog, at bergdorfgoodman.com, and in ads mailed to consumers. Who are we kidding, Kanye would NEVER buy fake fur. He’d make absolutely sure that when his “mink is draggin’ on the floor” that is was ripped off the back of some poor creature. He’s kind of a perfectionist like that… Image via Splash

Lauren Conrad Brings ‘Accessible’ Clothing Line To Kohl’s

‘It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it,’ she says of her LC by Lauren Conrad brand. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad has hooked up with department store Kohl’s for her LC by Lauren Conrad clothing brand — if fans have always admired former “Hills” star’s laid-back, girly sense of style, now they can achieve the look. “It’s very much a California brand. It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it — relaxed cool without trying to hard,” she told MTV News at a press event for the line, adding that there’s a piece in her collection for every occasion. “I have a few [favorite pieces] … a favorite piece for what? You have to dress the part!” she laughed. “I do a lot of basics, so we have a great blazer, a high-waisted black skirt and biker jacket and all those pieces can be traded throughout … it’s a lot of layering, a lot of switching-up, so you can get more mileage.” There’s a reason the line is very feminine — LC only has plans to design for the ladies. “I’m not a boy,” she joked, adding she’s too “selfish” to design clothes that she can’t wear herself. And while there were probably other retailers clamoring to get LC’s designs in their stores, she had a very specific reason for working with Kohl’s. “They’re very accessible. They’re everywhere and they’re online and they’re affordable,” she explained. “It was a fun way for me to work with a really great company and to say, ‘This is what I think is going to be in in a couple months’ and ‘This is what I’m gonna wear at a great price point and great quality.’ ”
