The President of the U.S. spoke to 6,000 supporters at an L.A. concert featuring Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Earth Wind & Fire and Jon Bon Jovi. Obama at Fundraiser “Everything we fought so hard for in 2008 is on the line in 2012,” Barack Obama told the Nokia Theater crowd. “And I need your help to finish what we started. I need your help.” “If there’s one thing I know, we’ve come a long way and we’ve come too far to turn back now,” he said, pointing out his recent performance during the 2012 Presidential Debates . Alluding to the fact that Mitt Romney won the first debate, he said of the night’s musicians, “They just perform flawlessly night after night. I can’t always say the same.” A suited up George Clooney also made an appearance on stage to introduce Wonder, and to also make a quick joke about Clint Eastwood’s speech during the RNC. Clooney said that sometimes celebs can hurt candidates more than they can help them. Which is true, but Eastwooding just entertained us to be honest. Rodriguez/Getty Images As has been his M.O. throughout this 11th season of “American Idol,” Phillip Phillips wowed the crowd and the judges with his show-stopping final performance of would-be single “Home.” MTV News was lucky enough to chat with Phillips on the red carpet leading up to the big finale Wednesday (May 23), where he revealed a few details about how he wound up choosing the rootsy ballad. “It wasn’t really too much of a process,” Phillips admitted with his trademark “aw, shucks” smile. “I got to hear it once and they said, ‘Would you like to do it?’ ” Obviously, Phillips did want to do that song, a smart decision that led to the evening’s only standing ovation from the judges. However, if the Georgia native had to do it all over again, without the strict time constraints they work under on “Idol,” Phillips said he would have preferred to have performed his own original song. “I wanted to do my own stuff, but we only had a certain amount of time to do everything, so I had to do that one, and it’s a really good song,” he said. “The writers are really good. It’s not really something I would write, so I’m excited to get my own stuff out there.” We’re sure Phillips’ adoring fans are excited to listen to his “stuff” as well. In the meantime they can watch and re-watch the sweet-tempered 21-year-old’s final performance, complete with a marching band, to hold them over. On Wednesday after school in April, we went down to The Intercontinental where we thought Justin was staying because we thought he arrived. We were in the city for about 6 hours looking for Biebs when he didn’t even arrive, awkward. Anyways the next day, our parents let us take the day off for Justin’s concert and it was the most exciting thing ever to get ready to see our boy in the flesh! We went down to Acer around 12:00 and just waited to hopefully see Justin ride around on his segway. That didn’t happen. Anyways there were thousands of girls outside waiting to get in Acer Arena and as soon as the doors opened, it was Biebermania. Luckily we had front row tickets and as soon as the timer hit 0:00, our life goal was complete. We saw him less than 1 meter away but that wasn’t good enough. (Btw Justin killed his performance with Chris Brown) The next day seemed pretty depressing because we were attending the second concert but had really bad tickets. Me and Patty got there early because Patty’s sister and her friends were going into the meet & greets with Justin. As they lined up and got their pink wristbands, our hearts dropped in jealously. We went to go to the loading dock hopefully to see Justin arrive once again. BUT THAN WE GOT A CALL FROM PATTYS SISTER SAYING JBSOURCE GOT US TICKETS TO GO INSIDE TO MEET JUSTIN! We couldn’t believe it. When we were in the M&G, we didn’t say anything to him because we were so shocked and it was just so amazing.
