Megyn Kelly: Dropped by Advertisers, Benefit Gala Over Alex Jones Interview!

Megyn Kelly’s interview with famous jerk and creator of Infowars  Alex Jones hasn’t even aired yet and it’s already mired in controversy . The contentiousness of the decision to interview such a man hasn’t gone unnoticed. Advertisers have been fleeing to the hills. And now Megyn Kelly’s been asked to step down from hosting a Sandy Hook benefit … because Alex Jones and his people famously declared that the Sandy Hook mass shooting was a hoax . Tomorrow, Sandy Hook Promise, a major gun violence-prevention organization, holds its annual Champions Promise Gala, where Megyn was originally supposed to emcee. She has now been  asked to step down  from that role. In case there was any doubt as to why she’s being bumped, Sandy Hook Promise issued this statement:  “This decision was spurred by NBC’s planned broadcast of Kelly’s interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who believes the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, was a hoax.” Yeah, we can absolutely see how that would rub grieving parents the wrong way. “Sandy Hook Promise cannot support the decision by Megyn or NBC to give any form of voice or platform to Alex Jones and have asked Megyn Kelly to step down as our Promise Champion Gala host. It is our hope that Megyn and NBC reconsider and not broadcast this interview.” That’s pretty understandable. Networks care about image, but only up to a certain point and only as a means to an end. What most of them really care about is ratings and advertisers, and the ratings only because they attract more money from advertisers. While some controversies and drive up viewers, some businesses do not want to risk the association and pull their ads — which is exactly what’s happening here. J.P. Morgan Chase has pulled its ads from  NBC  — not just for Megyn’s timeslot — until after the interview is scheduled to air on June 18th. J.P. Morgan Chase’s chief marketing officer tweeted that she was “repulsed” that Alex Jones would receive airtime. Alex Jones, for his part, has already declared to his followers that the interview will be “fake news” and that “they’re scared of what we’re covering.” As always with conspiracy theorists, the use of “they” could mean anything from “the establishment” to Illuminati lizard people, which are often just one and the same. Everybody learns of the existence of Alex Jones and  Infowars  in their own way. Have you ever made the mistake of looking up something without paying attention to where you were looking it up? I did, a few years back. I looked up some dumb movie —  Transcendence  — for an analysis of its portrayal of transhumanism. The first couple of paragraphs just summarized the film, and the next one briefly defined transhumanism — it’s basically just technology making our lives longer and better. The next paragraph, and in fact the rest of the article, was talking about how this film was made as part of some diabolical campaign to “prepare” the public for transhumanism, though it would only be reserved for “global elites.” That was when I looked up at where Google results had taken me — it was  Infowars . Other articles discussed various vague and elaborate “plots” that involved various innocuous elements of pop culture and politics. I’d quickly had my fill of nonsense. These days, the far-right fringe conspiracy site is much better known. From a viral video of Alex Jones decrying that he doesn’t “like ’em putting chemicals in the water that turn the friggin’ frogs gay!” to the disturbing links between  Infowars  and Donald Trump, people these days are much more familiar. Unfortunately, a huge part of that is because of ironically named “Sandy Hook Truthers” who deny that the Sandy Hook mass shooting took place, and instead insist that the children never existed and that the very real grieving parents are paid actors. That’s a lot more upsetting than a dumb theory about a dumb movie. So Megyn Kelly choosing to interview Alex Jones has her on blast for giving the guy a platform. Parents who are still — and will always be — grieving don’t want to see see anyone even seem to give credibility to the guy who’s claims that their children never existed. It’s one thing to interview Putin, who’s terrible but can’t be ignored. It’s another thing to give a platform to Alex Jones. But, at the same time, we have to wonder if she could do more good by exposing Alex Jones for exactly the sort of man he is. Especially since Alex Jones has been praised by Donald Trump and Infowars  has been given White House press credentials, as if they were a real news organization. One thing’s for sure — this interview’s going to get a lot more viewers due to all of the controversy. People will want to see what all of the fuss is about. Assuming that NBC doesn’t pull it entirely.

27 Scandals That Rocked Reality TV

Just when you think it can't get any worse than Kenya Moore going off on Porsha Williams, along comes Juan Pablo Galavis. And then just when you think the lowest rung of the reality TV ladder has been reached due to the outright racism of the Big Brother 15 cast, along comes Teresa Giudice actually going to jail due to financial fraud. And then just when you're willing to write these examples off as exceptions and embrace reality television again, along comes Josh Duggar confessing to sexual molestation and… well… … it doesn't get any more grotesque than that. Here is a look at 27 scandals that have absolutely rocked the world of reality television. 1. Josh Duggar Admits to Sexual Molestation That title says it all, doesn’t it? In the spring of 2015, Josh Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting fame apologized for molesting multiple young girls when he was a teenager. 2. TLC Cancels Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Give the network credit. It pulled the plug as soon as rumors spread of June Shannon dating her daughter’s former molester. EWWWWW! 3. Big Brother 15 Just the entire season, really. These homophobic and racist cast members caused us to lose faith in pretty much all of humanity. 4. Everyone Hates Juan Pablo Galavis Juan Pablo Galavis was asked about a potentially gay Bachelor and responded: “I respect [gay people], but I honestly don’t think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV.” He then went out and sounded like an even bigger moron during the actual season. 5. Duck Dynasty Debate Phil Robertson also got in trouble for making homophobic remarks to GQ. He then issued a statement that read: “My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and mean are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me.” 6. Jon and Kate Plus HATE Jon and Kate Plus 8 was once a beloved show on TLC. The Biggest Loser Season 16 Finale: Who Won the Title?

After a grueling season in which former sports standouts sought to recapture their Glory Days, The Biggest Loser has crowned a champion at last. Toma Dobrosavljevic, Sonya Jones and Rob Guiry survived 17 episodes of sweat, tears and flat out grueling workouts to make it to the live finale. There could be only one winner, even though all three have won at life, and on The Biggest Loser Season 16 Episode 18 , the victor was revealed … All three finalists revealed impressive numbers on the scale, but having dropped 171 pounds to end the season at 165, Toma Dobrosavljevic wins! The 33-year-old senior project manager from Addison, Ill., lost a higher percentage of his weight than his fellow finalists, claiming the $250,000 prize. “I’m so overwhelmed,” Dobrosavljevic said. “This experience has been so rewarding already, and to be declared The Biggest Loser is so amazing.” Coming in second was Jones, a 39-year-old physical education teacher from Springfield, Ill., who lost 144 pounds to weigh in at the finale at 139. Guiry, a 26-year-old rugby coach from Springfield, Mass., lost the most total weight at a staggering 238 pounds, finishing the season at 245. Both Toma and Sonya lost more pounds than their total body weight at the end, with Guiry almost doing the same. Truly remarkably for all three. Winning the $100,000 at-home prize after being sent home earlier this season was Jordan Alicandro, a 32-year-old sales manager from Canada. Alicandro lost 143 pounds for a final weigh-in of 180. “I was up against some tough competition but I worked really hard for this,” said Alicandro of taking home the best consolation prize around. His plans for the cash? “I was fortunate to go through college debt free, and this money will be going towards a college fund so my son can do the same.” Congratulations to Toma, who takes over for Rachel Frederickson (below) as NBC’s The Biggest Loser, and to all of the contestants this season! Selena Gomez Stalker Arrested After 911 Call (Again)

Looks like Selena Gomez has bigger problems than a furious Justin Bieber . TMZ reports that cops arrested a man on her property today after he jumped a fence surrounding Gomez’s house. Neighbors noticed and called 911.  Police say the man appeared to have no intention of robbing Selena, which has led to speculation that the actress is being plagued by yet another stalker. Selena has a history of attracting the wrong kind of attention through no fault of her own. And no we’re not talking about her relationship with the Biebs.  In 2011, one apparently deranged Selena stalker was arrested and ordered to receive psychiatric counseling, but he wouldn’t be the last. Just last month, another man was arrested for sneaking onto Selena’s property, knocking on her door and asking if the celebrity was home. She was, but managed to avoid the man, who was also arrested. It’s unclear at the moment whether this latest unwelcome visitor will be held by police. We don’t know why so many psychos are drawn to Selena (again, we don’t mean Justin), but it’s not hard to see why she’s beloved by the rest of the world. Rachel Frederickson on Biggest Loser Backlash: Just Grateful People Care!

Give The Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson credit for her attitude. After her stunning 155-pound weight loss – and resulting 105-pound frame – were revealed on the Season 15 finale, the 24-year-old faced major backlash. Millions of viewers of NBC’s weight loss competition, and some of the trainers who helped her, thought she had gone too far and was too skinny now. Rachel Frederickson didn’t see it as just criticism, though. Just concern. “I’ll always be grateful for the concern everyone had,” Rachel tells Us Weekly . “I will say, I had so much positive support, even on social media. Honestly, you look at it and you say, ‘Wow, if people are talking, they’re concerned or supportive.'” “And at the end of the day, that’s pretty amazing to have so many people aware of what I went through,” she added, “and what others are going through.” Wow. That is one positive outlook. She admits it wasn’t always easy, though. “It can be challenging. But I’m really proud of the work that I did and how healthy I was…I could ignore [the controversy] because I was really proud of the work I did.” “And something that I really learned was that I can’t be judgmental of myself or others,” she explained. “You never know what someone else is dealing with. “I know how I lost the weight, and I know that I did it healthfully and naturally.” Rachel Frederickson: The Biggest Loser Winner Before & After Open Slideshow 1. And I have found it! I found it when I stepped on that stage.” “Through the backlash and controversy, I’m helping others find theirs, too.”

Jillian Michaels: Rachel Frederickson Weight Loss "Too Much" on The Biggest Loser

When Rachel Frederickson revealed her weight loss on The Biggest Loser finale, even Jillian Michaels was agasp. Until now, though, she hadn’t opened up about it. “I was stunned,” the trainer told HuffPost Live. “I thought she had lost too much weight.” Jillian Michaels Slams Rachel Frederickson Weight Loss Michaels said the show implements a number of checks and balances, including having the trainers check in with contestants even after the ranch. But she had no idea Rachel Frederickson had been losing so much on her own, bringing her weight loss total to a staggering 155 pounds (out of 260). “In my opinion, this had fallen through those checks and balances,” she said of The Biggest Loser winner and her controversial season-ending reveal. Frederickson herself has since said she may have gone to an extreme, admitting: “Maybe I was a little too enthusiastic in my training to get to the finale.” She also looked healthier this week on Today, but Jillian Michaels still expressed concern at the results, and that it wasn’t just enthusiasm at work. In fact, she likened her weight loss to the extreme weight gain that brought her to the NBC show in the first place, arguing that they’re not too different. “Anybody who gains too much weight or loses too much weight… these are both manifestations of the same issue,” she said, making an interesting point. “It simply means that somebody is utilizing their relationship with food to manage their emotions which are painful, hard, difficult to face or control.” Some critics have called for the show’s cancelation in the wake of this result, but NBC hinted it will move forward with “small but significant” tweaks. Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Cast: Banned From Partying With Randoms!

The cast of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta has been forbidden from partying with non-cast members following the epic melee that broke out the other night. Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Brawl The VH1 show is so out of control – more so than anything you’ve seen if you watch Love & Hip Hop online this season – that network execs are concerned. Yes, the VH1 brass is actually worried about fighting. It’s that bad! The cast has now been barred from partying while non-cast members are around, due to the potential risk of huge lawsuits if an innocent bystander gets hurt. If a fight breaks out during filming in a public place, as we saw earlier this week (above), we could have another seen like this restaurant opening. One can sort of see their point if you take in the footage. Fists and bottles started flying and several cast members – and non-cast members – were injured. It’s those caught in the crossfire that have producers spooked. As such, the bosses laid down the law to the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta stars: No more filming parties with regular folks involved. Keep it in the family. If you watch Vanderpump Rules online , that’s proof positive rigth there that this approach is effective. The cast members beat each other up just fine. No need to bring innocent people into the brawls.

Rachel Frederickson Weight Loss "Stunned" Biggest Loser Trainer Bob Harper, He Admits

The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper admits that he was as shocked as anyone when he saw Rachel Frederickson walk out during Tuesday’s finale. “I was stunned. That would be the word. I mean, we’ve never had a contestant come in at 105 lbs.,” he says in an interview on the Rachael Ray Show. Rachel Frederickson , 24, started the show at 260 lbs. Yes, 260. When she left as a finalist three months ago to work on losing weight at home, she was 150 lbs. Between then and the finale, she lost 45 more. It was the latter that shocked Jillian Michaels and her Biggest Loser trainer counterparts as much as it did longtime fans of the popular NBC competition. “What people don’t understand is, when the contestants leave to go home … they’re in charge of themselves,” says Harper, 48, of the show’s process. “So, I had not seen her until that night, and so when she walked out, I was just kind of like, whoa. And I’ve been on the show since the beginning, forever.” Frederickson, who has faced major scrutiny this week, worked on the show with trainer Dolvett Quince, who wrote in a Facebook message Wednesday: “Please try not to look at one slice of Rachel’s journey and come to broad conclusions. Rachel’s health is and always has been my main concern.” “Her journey to good health has not yet ended!” Quince added. Many critics of the show say she is too skinny at 5’4″ and 105 lbs. She says she worked out four times a day , but is now in “maintenance mode.” For her part, Frederickson is happy with her new body, saying “I just love myself, and I am embracing it,” while her “goals are to be healthy and strong.” Scroll through pics of her dramatic transformation below … Rachel Frederickson: The Biggest Loser Winner Before & After Open Slideshow 1. Jillian Michaels: Shocked By Rachel Frederickson Weight Loss Reveal on The Biggest Loser!

Fans weren’t the only ones shocked by The Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson’s weight loss. Jillian Michaels herself was at a loss for words. The personal trainer appeared flabbergasted by Frederickson’s 155-pound weight loss (from 260 to 105) on the show’s season 15 finale on Tuesday. When the 24-year-old former high school swimmer walked out onstage for the first time since leaving the ranch last fall … this was Jill’s reaction: Michaels could be seen mouthing “Oh my God” after looking at Rachel Frederickson . Several times, in fact, before NBC’s camera panned away. Shrinking from 260 pounds and a size 20 to 105 pounds and a size 0/2, she beat fellow finalists David Brown and Bobby Saleem for the $250,000 prize. “It’s crazy!” the 5-foot-4 reality star said. “But it’s not about that. [My body] is absolutely the prize … to have this energy and to feel alive means the world.” “I lost that athlete, I lost that inner confidence, that self-worth. Throughout the season I started to find that girl again, and at the triathlon, [she] was there. She continued: “I embraced her, and I said, ‘Run with her. Go take charge of your life. You’ve had this second chance, now use it. Don’t ever let it go.'” Did she go too far, though? That’s what many observers are asking today. Rachel Frederickson Wins The Biggest Loser Her victory and competitive drive to win and win big has drawn major criticism from those who question the safety and ethics of The Biggest Loser . Not everyone agrees, though, as Frederickson apologists will point out that she set out to turn her life around and win money, achieving both goals. That’s the point of the show, isn’t it? You might question why it’s the point of a show, but is it fair to Rachel to basically say she was too good at it? You tell us: Rachel Frederickson on The Biggest Loser: Too skinny?   Yes.
