Looks like Denzel might be onto something … Viola Davis Granted Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame Viola Davis just scored the first star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame of 2017. The actress accepted her honor earlier this afternoon in LA. According to USA Today , even though Viola planned to keep her cool and be straightforward with her speech, she got emotional while thinking of all that brought her up to that moment. “Only thing I could think about is my dad. I wish he were here. He died in 2006 and, um, he would think this is pretty fantastic.” Viola was joined at the ceremony by her husband, actor Julius Tennon and daughter, Genesis Tennon, as Meryl Streep introduced and presented the actress with her honor. Viola went on to reflect on her upbringing in Central Falls, R.I. and how blessed she is to have come so far. “The only picture I have of myself as a kid in kindergarten is with a little … sucker and an expression that’s not really a smile, not really a frown, just something. But every time I look at the little girl, I always thought, ‘Oh, that’s a cute outfit but she was always hungry, she was always shy, she was always kind of in the background, but inside she had big dreams bursting.’ And the only thing I could think about is that saying, ‘What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly.’ I cannot believe my life right now…that Meryl Streep spoke at my Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony with my handsome husband and a beautiful daughter and my family and my representatives…all I can say is, ‘God has blessed my life in abundance.’” Congratulations to Viola! Amber Heard is not having any of Johnny Depp’s BS. The actor’s people are implying to everyone that Amber and Johnny both want to end their legal war , but that’s actually pretty far from the truth. Amber actually wants the case the to continue on because she wants to take to the stand. This is all because she knows that Johnny and his people are making the rumor up out over what she’ll say on the stand. Is she saving some of the finer details of what really was going on between them for the stand? It certainly seems that way. Johnny and his representatives are obviously frightened that the details are so bad that they’ll wreck his career even more. It kind of makes sense, but then if Amber does settle out of court, her story would never be told. Amber’s testimony will no doubt make or break her estranged husband’s career, but things aren’t looking good for him right now. Why would Depp want to settle out of court if he’s really innocent? Surely, he would want to refute any claim that Amber made to try and do some damage control. This just adds further fuel to the fire that Depp isn’t as innocent as he’s trying to make us believe. Either way, it looks like this case is going to get more interesting as Amber takes to the stand to give her version of events. Initially, Amber seemed to be the one getting the negative press when she came forward about her torment at the hands of Depp. Her past was brought up and even the fact that she was arrested for domestic assault. South Carolina Senate Casts First Vote to Remove Confederate Flag This is step one in the process to get South Carolina’s Confederate Flag down … The NY Times reports: The South Carolina Senate voted Monday to remove the Confederate battle flag from the grounds of the State House. The bipartisan proposal, which emerged after last month’s massacre at a historic black church in Charleston, was approved by a 37-to-3 vote in the Republican-controlled Senate. The Senate has one remaining ratification vote, now virtually assured of success. The debate will shift to the House of Representatives, which Republicans also dominate, where the timeline for — and tenor of — the debate remains less clear. The Senate’s vote on Monday marked a resounding shift in South Carolina, where less than three weeks ago removing the Confederate battle flag from a memorial near the State House was viewed as politically impossible. We’re pretty sure that ship has already sailed… GOP Senator: President Obama Would Have Been Impeached If He Weren’t Black A shady Republican senator from Iowa made it plan during a recent interview that he feels President Obama’s skin color is the only reason he hasn’t already been impeached. He claims his political counterparts are too worried about being called racists for impeaching the first black President via Think Progress Sam Clovis, an Iowa Republican running for U.S. Senate, thinks the only reason President Obama has not been impeached by the House of Representatives is because he is the nation’s first black president. “I would say there are people in the House of Representatives right now that would very much like to take the opportunity to start the process,” Clovis said in an interview with the Daily Times Herald. “And I think the reason that they’re not is because they’re concerned about the media.” Clovis clarified that this concern is over Obama being a black president. “It’s not that what he has done would not rise to the level where it might be impeachable,” he added, explaining that it still is not a “practical, pragmatic issue.” Referencing President Clinton’s impeachment, Clovis said, “Now we have a situation where race is thrown into the cards as well. Whether we like it or not, race is an issue.” Dear GOP, we love hate to break it to you but……much of America already thinks you’re racist anyway. Peyton Manning “Omaha” Explanation The unique, fun deal netted $24,800 for the quarterback’s Peyback Foundation after he barked it out 31 times on Sunday. “This has been terrific for us,” said David G. Brown, president and CEO of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, which headed up the charity drive. “Before Friday, we had calculated that news coverage of Omaha had generated the equivalent of about $10 million in advertising.” Brown added that the city had no interaction with Manning or his representatives about the effort, but presumed Manning would accept the donations. “This is really great for Omaha as a community and for the businesses that are embedded here,” said Todd Simon, a senior vice president of Omaha Steaks, which took part in the promotion. “Who knows whether any of this will translate to the bottom line, if ever, but it can’t hurt.” And it’s nice to know that Richard Sherman’s postgame rant isn”t all people are talking about the day after these games.

Rebel Wilson Opens MTV Movie Awards With Bizarre Musical Intro
Charlie Wilson, an ex-Congressman from Ohio, has passed away. He was 70 years old. The Democrat suffered a stroke in February and was admitted to a hospital in Boynton Beach Saturday after falling ill. He died the next day around 2:30 p.m., surrounded by family members. Wilson won a write-in campaign and served two terms in Washington, securing federal funding for projects that benefited the police department, airports and small businesses. Prior to being elected to Congress, Wilson served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1997 to 2005. “I served with Charlie in the State Legislature for six years and he was a loyal friend in good times and bad,” Ohio Democratic Chairman Chris Redfern said in a statement. “An outspoken advocate for working people, Charlie never wavered in his service to his constituents or his lifelong pursuit to help improve the lives of others.” Wilson is survived by four sons, one of whom served as his campaign manager in the 2006 race and then on succeeded him in the Ohio Senate.
