Y ep, all Black folks look alike according to media sources from Fox News to The Hill. The Hill, a popular political outlet since 1994, covered Susan Rice , Obama’s former National Security Advisor, who is considering running against Maine GOP Sen. Susan Collins for the U.S. Senate. Collins voted for Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court and has received tons of backlash because she is a woman who voted against a woman who was sexually assaulted. While covering the story, The Hill used a photo of Condoleezza Rice , who was Secretary of State under President George W. Bush . For real?? @thehill pic.twitter.com/lnyFdApAf0 — Michael Eaves (@michaeleaves) October 8, 2018 The image has already been changed on their article . However, Twitter is having a field day with this. One user wrote , “somebody googled ‘Black Rice’ Condeleeza’s picture came up.” Another tweeted , “Don’t they have fact checkers, or editors, or I dunno, any Black people on staff over there?” Maybe this will further inspire Susan Rice to run against Collins. In case you missed it, Obama’s former White House Communications Director Jen Psaki tweeted, “who wants to run for Senate in Maine? there will be an army of supporters with you.” Rice replied, “Me.” Me https://t.co/93qNxN7Ky9 — Susan Rice (@AmbassadorRice) October 5, 2018 Don’t get too excited. According to ABC News , Rice spoke at a panel during The New Yorker Festival and said, “I made the tweet, I later elaborated that this wasn’t where my head was.” She continued, “But I have been moved by the enthusiasm. I’m going to give it due consideration after the midterms.” Nonetheless, The Hill, Fox News and everyone else who think all Black folks look alike need to do better. Prince Williams/ATLPics.net Maxine Waters Speaks At Stacey Abrams Event For Women Saturday Stacey Abrams had the support of some very powerful women at a special Women For Abrams event held at The Gathering Spot in Atlanta. The event was hosted by Rashan Ali and Jonathan Slocumb (pictured above) and featured Atlanta’s Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms as well as Rep. Maxine Waters as speakers. Prince Williams/ATLPics.net Mayor Bottoms told the audience she’d had a busy morning between running a 5K herself and rushing to support her son at his football game, but that she had made it a priority to be at the event where Abrams was showered with support from celebrities including actress Erika Alexander, Kandi Burruss Tucker, Keri Hilson, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Mali Hunter, Monica Brown and Terrence T.C. Carson. After addressing the crowd, Bottoms passed the mic one by one to the women there to show their support. Prince Williams/ATLPics.net Monica talked about praying over Abrams and the campaign and being called to show her support. Prince Williams/ATLPics.net Kandi Burruss reminded the room that Abrams has years of experience as the House Minority Leader, “I want to vote for her because she is MORE than qualified,” Burruss said. “She knows what she is doing and she has BEEN doing it.” Keri Hilson embraced Abrams on her devotion to addressing the deficiencies in mental health care services. “I stand with you on mental health,” Hilson told Abrams in front of the packed crowd. “You and I share a connection to that pandemic.” Others in the audience echoed Hilson. One early backer, who identified herself as Kirsten, told BOSSIP, “I’ve been supporting Abrams from the beginning because she is one of the few politicians I’ve ever heard who has an actual solution to helping people with mental illness.” Kirsten told BOSSIP she has a brother who suffers with paranoid schizophrenia and that she was touched by Abrams’ disclosure about her brother Walter who was diagnosed with biplar disorder while he was in jail. For those who have heard Abrams speak about Walter and how his health issues has affected her family, it is impossible not to connect with Abrams — who has made it her business to find solutions for the VERY real problems that Georgia residents face. Maxine Waters served as the keynote speaker for the meeting. She spoke at length about how ESPECIALLY in times like these we need someone with integrity to lead us. Stacey Abrams is definitely that person for the state of Georgia. Prince Williams/ATLPics.net The deadline to register is October 9th. That’s right around the corner! C olin Kaepernick stays winning. Even though the NFL tried to destroy him, he brushes the hate off his shoulder and comes out on top whether it’s a series with Ava DuVernay or becoming one of the faces of Nike’s 30th anniversary campaign of their “Just Do It” motto, which just happened yesterday. Of course Trump spoke out and he is in an orange outrage. SEE ALSO: From Al Sharpton To Barack Obama: Here’s How Aretha Franklin Was Celebrated At Her Funeral In an interview with The Daily Caller , Trump babbled, I think it’s a terrible message that they’re sending and the purpose of them doing it, maybe there’s a reason for them doing it. But I think as far as sending a message, I think it’s a terrible message and a message that shouldn’t be sent. There’s no reason for it.” He also issued an implicit threat, “Nike is a tenant of mine. They pay a lot of rent.” Maybe that means Nike will have to look for a new space — if this is true because we all know how Trump like to believe he owns everyone. For example, when he wrongfully said Aretha Franklin worked for him. The ad dropped on social media yesterday with a photo of Kaepernick and the text, “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” See below: BREAKING: Nike had been paying Colin Kaepernick all along, waiting for the right moment. J ust another day in America. Audio recordings of Buford City Schools superintendent Geye Hamby talking about killing “n***ers” and more violent behavior has leaked. He is now on leave. See Also: President Donald Trump’s Voter Fraud Claims Could Lead To More Voter Suppression In June, a federal lawsuit was filed against Hamby in U.S. District Court in Atlanta for using racial slurs against Black workers at a construction site. Mary Ingram, 66, filed the lawsuit when she was fired in 2017 after working for the school district for nearly 20 years. AJC.com reports, “Ingram and Hamby clashed after she questioned why the color gold — representing the city’s Black school district before the system was integrated in 1969 — wasn’t included in the district’s green and white emblem. Ingram said an agreement had been reached decades ago to have gold incorporated into Buford schools’ colors.” In addition, “Ingram continued to receive write-ups over the next two years until June 14, 2017, when she was told she was fired. Her termination letter said she was ‘perceived as being disrespectful, argumentative and unfriendly and not a good fit in a school environment.’” Now it looks like Hamby will be jobless. In the audio, he says, “(Expletive) that (n-word). I’ll kill these (expletive) — shoot that (expletive) if they let me,” and “Don’t send us a deadbeat n—- from a temp service.” Listen below: LISTEN. A recording has recently been released from what is said to be from an Atlanta area school superintendent – Geye Hamby. In it, he repeatedly and casually refers to African Americans as niggers and even casually speaks about wanting to shoot some niggers. Via @AJC pic.twitter.com/qn9skkOYUz — Shaun King (@shaunking) August 24, 2018 It is not clear when Hamby made these comments. However, even with this clear audio, an attorney representing the school board said the board has “been unable to determine its veracity and authenticity and whether the recording was altered and was at the consent of at least one party or the product of illegal surveillance. Our investigation continues into this matter, but we are hamstrung in that the plaintiff has failed or refused to produce the original recording for testing or provide any information concerning the background or foundation of the recording,” according to AJC.com. Again, Hamby is on administrative leave. Hopefully, he never returns to the school district. J ay Z ‘s Made In America is one of the most popular music festivals in the country. However, this year will be its last at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, because the mayor pulled the plug on the location, claiming it was too expensive, even though Roc Nation covered approximately half the costs. However, Jay Z is not happy and wrote a biting piece in The Philadelphia Inquirer , ripping into Mayor Jim Kenney , who quickly responded. See Also: Papa John’s CEO Resigns After Condemning NFL Anthem Protests Jay accused the mayor of evicting the event “through a media outlet, without a sit-down meeting, notice, dialogue, or proper communication.” He said, “It signifies zero appreciation for what Made In America has built alongside the phenomenal citizens of this city. In fact, this administration immediately greeted us with a legal letter trying to stop the 2018 event.” The festival was also a huge boost to Philadelphia’s economy, according to Jay, “Since 2012, Made in America, one of the only minority-owned festivals, has had a positive $102.8 million economic impact to Philadelphia, and the festival has paid $3.4 million in rent to the city. Made in America employs more than 1,000 Philadelphians each day and 85 percent of our partners are Philadelphia-based companies.” Jay also insinuated that race was a factor, “We consider this stance a failure on the mayor’s part. Is this an accurate representation of how he and his administration treat partners that economically benefit his city? Do they regularly reject minority-owned businesses that want to continue to thrive and grow alongside his city’s people?” Mayor Kenney responded via a statement , “The City of Philadelphia supports the Made in America festival and is greatly appreciative of all that it has done for Philadelphia. We are committed to its continued success and thank them for their partnership. We hope to be able to resolve what has been an unfortunate misunderstanding. We are working with Roc Nation and Live Nation to resolve this issue and we are committed to continuing our partnership with the Made in America festival.” No word on where else Made in America will take place but judging from the passive statement above from the mayor, it might just stay at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.
