Johnny Depp on Going Broke: I’ll Buy 15,000 Cotton Balls If I Want To!

Back in February, we reported that Johnny Depp is going broke after spending his money on what we then described as “weird-ass sh-t.” In addition to the usual rich guy splurging (Sources say Depp spent $30,000 a month on wine .), there were some truly bizarre expenditures, such as a $3 million ash cannon to shoot the remains of his friend Hunter S. Thompson into the atmosphere. Rather than denying that he went a little crazy with his cash, however, Depp is now defending his right to blow a fortune on whatever gonzo luxuries he wants: The speculation of where Depp’s money went began when he sued his management group, TMG, for allegedly mishandling his sizable nest egg. TMG countersued, claiming that “Depp lived an ultra-extravagant lifestyle that often knowingly cost [him] in excess of $2 million per month.” The firm’s cross complaint argues: “Depp, and Depp alone, is fully responsible for any financial turmoil he finds himself in today.”   In a new interview with The Wall St. Journal, Depp doesn’t claim that he never lived an overly-posh lifestyle, but instead argues that it was his right to do so, and his management group’s job to warn him before he went too far: “It’s my money,” Depp said. “If I want to buy 15,000 cotton balls a day, it’s my thing.” He went on to say: “Why didn’t they drop me as a client if I was so out of control? I’ve worked very, very hard for a lot of years and trusted a lot of people, some who’ve clearly let me down.” Depp says that in some areas, TMG lied to make his spending seem more lavish than it was, but in a hilariously candid quip, he says they actually underestimated his spending in one case. The cannon used to propel Thompson’s ashes into the night sky over the writer’s famous Woody Creek, Colorado ranch actually cost $5 million, not three. Depp has been unabashedly frank about his foibles throughout his career, and from a PR standpoint, the ball is now in TMG’s court. The firm finds itself in the unenviable position of facing off against a film icon who’s soon to resume his most famous role. The past year has been rough on Depp, but he still has a spot in the hearts of millions of devoted fans.

Chris Soules Criminal Record: An In-Depth Look at His Troubled Past

In the most stunning celebrity news story of the week, Chris Soules has been arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal car crash that left one individual dead. As previously detailed, the Season 19 Bachelor was driving his pickup truck on Sunday night when he rear-ended a tractor on a road near his farm in Iowa. Soules dialed 911 and reported that a man had been thrown out of the tractor and was now lying in a ditch, bleeding from the mouth… … but then he drove away and refused to let police officers into his home until they obtained a search warrant. Several hours after he crashed into 68-year old Kenneth Mosher and killed him, Soules was finally taken into custody and charged with the aforementioned crime. Authorities say cans of beer were found in Soules’ car, although it’s probable that too many hours elapsed between the time of the accident and the time of his blood test for the latter to turn up positive for alcohol. Still, pending an investigation, Soules may also be charged with involuntary manslaughter at some point. For now, he’s free on $10,000 bond. This incident, of course, is as serious as it gets; through his actions, whether by complete accident or whether his judgment was impaired in some way, Chris Soules took a life. However, if you  watch The Bachelor online  and/or have followed Soules’ reality TV career ever since his days as a contestant on Andy Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette, you’re likely aware that Soules has frequently run afoul of the law. There’s nothing in his past this severe. But there’s enough on record that could impact how this case is handled going forward. Let’s take a look at all Soules has allegedly done, shall we? In 2001, he was charged on two separate occasions for being a minor in possession of alcohol. In January of 2002, he was cited for unlawful use of a license. Later in 2002, he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after running a stop sign. (NOTE: this incident was eventually amended from leaving the scene due to defective brakes.) In 2005, he was charged with Operating While Intoxicated (Iowa’s term for DUI), after which he was fined $500; given a 60-day jail sentence; a 58-day suspended jail sentence; and a year of probation. Moreover, between the years of 2000 and 2012, Soules received a total of seven speeding violations. On their own, of course, none of these arrests or run-ins with the law are all that serious. But that’s a pretty long list for one individual to have accumulated, let alone one individual whose history of driving, drinking and irresponsibility may have finally caught up with him. In deadly fashion. View Slideshow: 20 Celebrities Who Very Likely Killed Someone E! News spoke to legal expert Troy Slaten to determine what sort of legal ramifications Soules could face in light of his latest charges and his lengthy criminal record. “What it looks like right now, he is facing what is called a Class D felony, which is leaving the scene of an accident causing death,” Slaten says . “Leaving the scene of an accident causing death is, in and of itself, a felony.” What if tests do come back that show Soules was over the legal drinking limit? What if his blood-alcohol content is above .08? “When somebody has a prior conviction for DUI, that can mean a couple of things,” Slaten explains, going into detail as follows: “It can change a case of vehicular homicide or vehicular manslaughter into murder, and here’s why: Normally when we talk about murder, there has to be some sort of malice or evil intent. “Getting in an accident is usually not evil… but when somebody has been convicted of DUI [in the past], they’re under a greater understanding of the dangers of drinking and driving because [they’ve] been through DUI classes and special alcohol education.” Makes sense, right? And it’s hard to argue with the logic behind these guidelines, no? The Iowa State Patrol is looking into whether alcohol played a role in the fatal crash. If so, prosecutors may cite “malice” due to Soules’ perceived knowledge of what happens when you drink and drive. They could say Soules showed an “indifference to human life” by once again getting behind the wheel after imbibing, according to Slaten, would could result in a MURDER charge. Soules was arraigned (see photo above) on Tuesday, which confirms he’s facing criminal charges. He also could face civil liability on behalf on the victim’s family. Mosher was a father of two and is also a grandfather. Sources say these relatives do not blame Soules for what happened, but that opinion could change if they learn alcohol was in his system. For now, Soules has simply issued a very straightforward statement through his spokesman. It reads: Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away.   His thoughts and prayers and with Mr. Mosher’s family.

Chris Soules: Mega-Diva on Dancing With the Stars!?

Chris Soules was kicked off Dancing With the Stars this week , but his fellow dancers are not exactly bidding him a fond farewell. According to an insider, The Bachelor star and fiance of Whitney Bischoff turned into a mega-diva during the progression of DWTS: He “was humble and so sweet at the beginning of DWTS , but by the time he had been voted off, the sentiment from the cast and crew had changed.” “It started with Chris asking the wardrobe department to make adjustments to his wardrobe,” adds the source. “It seemed innocent enough.” “But by the last week, Chris was openly rolling his eyes at his costumes.” He was even caught on camera acting like an angry diva . So much, that at one point, Chris Soules made Witney Carson cry during rehearsal. Gradually, he’s “become obsessed with living in Hollywood, and loves the fame he got from being on The Bachelor and on Dancing with the Stars .” “Being voted off DWTS will be very hard for Chris because he truly thought the Bachelor fans would get him through to the finals,” the source added. “His ego is out of control, and he now has a publicist, and manager!” the source insists. “He would love to become known as a host for big events.” While Chris is busy loving Chris, we wonder what this means for Whitney. Theu are rumored to be taking a “break” since Whitney returned to Chicago .  And since Chris Soules might be staying in Los Angeles to pursue the limelight, their relationship could be headed for splitsville sooner rather than later. Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff: Broken Up Already?!

That didn’t take long. Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff are already broken up … according to a new tabloid cover from an unreliable source, anyway. The Bachelor spoilers don’t indicate anything of the sorts happened, but Life & Style claims Soules cheated on Whitney, and with her best friend! On this week’s finale, after he sent home Becca Tilley not really broken-hearted, Chris and Whitney finally made their public debut as a couple. On the After The Final Rose live show, the pair who gushed about wanting to get married all season long said there was no wedding being planned. Instead, they said, they just want to live as a “normal couple.” Fair enough, but from Soules and Bischoff, this came as something of a surprise … as is Chris going Dancing With the Stars starting next week. This turn of events has raised a few red flags among card carrying members of Bachelor Nation, with some speculating that they’ve already split. How you get from that to the tabloid cover above, proclaiming “Chris & Whitney Over Already: He Slept With Her Best Friend,” is beyond us, however. The cover goes on to tease an inside story detailing how Whitney Bischoff came to realize that Chris Soules was just “using her for fame and money.” Pretty hilarious assertion, given that Chris’ family farm actually does extremely well, and Bischoff was the one dying to move in together with him there. As for the Dancing With the Stars thing … it did surprise us. Sean Lowe did it too, however, and went on to marry Catherine Giudici and return to normal life not long afterward. So it’s likely a one-off for Chris too. Expect Whitney Bischoff to be in the ABC audience every week until Chris gets axed, even as rumors about the duo’s demise continue to swirl. Because that’s just how things roll post- Bachelor , y’all. You tell us: Will Chris and Whitney last? OMG Yes! Of course! They are made for each other! Maybe. Not sure, but they’ve got a chance. Chris Soules on Being The Bachelor: So Humbling and Awesome!

Chris the Farmer is ready to find his Soules mate. The Iowa native, a fan favorite during Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette , came on Good Morning America today after being confirmed as The Bachelor . “I believe in the process,” Chris Soules told the morning show’s panel. “I believe in what I went through on the previous show and that’s why I’m doing it.” Chris Soules on Good Morning America Chris got the nod over Arie Luyendyk Jr. for The Bachelor, insiders say, because of his unusual background – not to mention fans’ strong connection to him. Unlike past Bachelor stars, it’s very clear what he has to offer. Being a farmer’s wife in Iowa might not appeal to every woman, but those it does appeal to? Expect them to fight hard for Chris, because he blends his manly, yet sophisticated persona with an aura of confidence and chivalry to the role. “My focus is going to be to make the girls that are on the show as comfortable as possible,” he added. “That was my first initial challenge, was opening up to Andi.” “I’m going to do my best. I’m humbled, flattered, grateful.” The 32-year-old says he can’t believe his good fortune: “Coming from a small town, I’d never really expected to have this opportunity to be on either show, let alone be the lead on The Bachelor, so it’s been awesome.” Can the pride of Arlington, Iowa, stay above the fray and maintain his sterling reputation when he’s the one handing out the roses in early 2015? We certainly hope so, and if anyone can withstand the scrutiny and scandal that invariably follow the show, it would be the Funk Soules Brother. Check out lots more photos of Chris Soules below! Chris Soules as The Bachelor: Where Will He Rank?

With Chris Soules confirmed as The Bachelor , we can officially start pondering where he ranks among the men who have doled out the roses on the ABC staple. While we won’t get to judge the whole package until next March, when his season concludes (Juan Pablo sounded good in theory), we can weigh in on this: Is he the hottest of the hot guys to headline the series?! 11 Hottest Bachelors in ABC History 1. Chris Soules Chris Soules is The Bachelor for ABC’s 2015 season of the hit reality show. Good choice? The 32-year-old from Arlington, Iowa, was one of the final three men standing on the just-wrapped season of The Bachelorette that starred Andi Dorfman. Making it that far spoke volumes about Chris Soules, a rugged yet intelligent, sensitive man’s man, a family-oriented farmer who cleans up awfully nice. Bachelor Nation was vocal about wanting him to take over the franchise, and according to The Bachelor spoilers king Reality Steve, he will do so. We imagine his supporters are ecstatic. But it begs several questions: Will Chris Soules ‘ seemingly impeccable character withstand the scrutiny of a TV role that demands a certain level of scandal and intrigue? Will he reveal there is more to him than has met the eye so far? Will the producers try to recruit women who might really mesh with Chris, or on the contrary, those who are likely to inject the most drama? Will he find the love he’s looking for, or leave empty-handed? Weigh in on these issues and vote in our survey below: Chris Soules: A good choice for The Bachelor?   YES! He’s perfect!! Maybe. The Bachelorette Final Three: Who Should Andi Choose?

After Monday’s emotional hometown dates and the elimination of Marcus Grodd, The Bachelorette final three are set and off to the overnight dates. So who will emerge from the Fantasy Suite (and meeting her folks) with the final rose from Andi Dorfman? All three fellas have forged quite a connection. If you’ve read The Bachelorette spoilers , well, you know how it supposedly ends. Then again, those have been very, very wrong in the past, so who knows. If you haven’t read them, then all bets are off based on what we’ve seen on screen. Josh Murray is the man Andi seems most inclined to date … yet deviating from her past experiences is part of her stated goal in coming on the ABC show. Nick Viall, the winner of the first impression rose on the season premiere, has caught flak for dubbing himself the front-runner this season, but he’s not wrong. He’s made it this far because Andi clearly likes him a lot, and did from the onset. Meanwhile, the dark horse, Chris Soules , keeps coming on stronger. Who do you envision at the end of her journey (take a shot, Bachelorette drinking game players) and who will be sent home next week and the week after? Despite Nick rubbing people the wrong way, all three seem serious, committed and there for the right reasons (drink again!!), so there will be joy, and tears. Check the spoilers link above if you want to know how it plays out (we think), but either way, tell us in the comments and poll below how you want it to. Chris Soules: THIRTEEN Arrests and History of Alcoholism Revealed!

Chris Soules has won his fair share of admirers amongst female Bachelorette fans, but a stunning collection of court documents may soon cost Chris some followers. Yes, he’s so popular with audiences that it’s been rumored Soules will be the next Bachelor , but Radar Online has obtained evidence that indicates Soules has a long history of arrests, many of them alcohol-related. Radar reports that Soules’ legal troubles date back to 2001, when he was fined for underage possession of alcoholism. Pretty minor stuff, but that was only the first of Chris’ many brushes with the law: Soules went on to enter an astonishing thirteen guilty pleas throughout adolescence and young adulthood, most of them booze-related. Soules landed in legal trouble for speeding, alcohol possession, or driving with an open container four times in 2001. Having clearly not learned his lesson, Soules was charged with disorderly conduct in early 2002. The most serious incident, however, took place in 2006, when Chris was 26. He was pulled over for driving erratically and submitted to a breathalyzer. His BAC registered at less than .1, but more than the legal limit of .08. Could Soules’ history of boozy bad boy behavior cost him a shot at starring in the next season of The Bachelor? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, you can watch The Bachelorette online at TV Fanatic. The Bachelorette Season 10 Cast 1. Eric Eric Hill is the The Bachelorette contestant who passed away after the season, which has been dedicated to his memory.
