Yes, you read that right! Morehouse College, an all male, historically Black university, held their commencement services for their class of 2019 today. Their speaker this year was Robert F. Smith. Smith is a Billionaire (with a B) technology investor and philanthropist. He is the founder, chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners. In 2018, Smith was recognized by Forbes as the wealthiest African American, beating out Oprah for the title. Smith pledged $1.5 million dollars to the school but decided to raise the stakes for commencement. After receiving an honorary doctoral degree from Morehouse during the ceremony, Robert F. Smith pledged that his family will create a grant to clear the outstanding student loan debt for EVERY graduate in the class of 2019. The estimated total is about $40 MILLION dollars! During his speech Smith said, “This is my class […] and I know my class will pay it this forward” as he referenced the class of 2019. Smith is the also the first African American to sign the “Gates-Buffett Pledge”. The pledge encourages the wealthy to dedicate a majority of their wealth to philanthropy. The entrepreneur and investor—who founded and leads the venture capital firm Vista Equity Partners—has invested in the progression of Morehouse. In January, he donated $1.5 million to the school for the creation of a scholarship fund and the addition of an outdoor study area on campus. Unbeknownst to students and faculty, Smith planned on topping that generous donation by giving graduates the gift of being student loan debt free through the establishment of a new a grant. “On behalf of the eight generations of my family who have been in this country, we’re going to put a little fuel in your bus. Now, I know my class will make sure they pay this forward,” he said during his speech. “I want my class to look at these (alumni) — these beautiful Morehouse brothers — and let’s make sure every class has the same opportunity going forward because we are enough to take care of our own community. We are enough to ensure we have all the opportunities of the American dream.” There were 400 seniors that were a part of the graduating class and Smith’s gift is estimated to be $40 million. The graduates were overjoyed and many of them were in disbelief. Morehouse President David A. Thomas says that the erasure of debt will be a key factor in helping the graduates thrive. Student loan debt has continued to rise within our country. According to Forbes , there is currently $1.5 trillion owed. Paying it forward is nothing new to Smith. 60-Year-Old Grandmother Named Cheyney University’s Valedictorian

A 60-year-old grandmother from Philadelphia is living proof that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. A few years ago, Rhonda E. Davis made it a priority to go back to school and get her college degree and she went above and beyond her goal by not only earning two degrees from Cheyney University but graduating as the institution’s Class of 2019 valedictorian, Philly.com reported. This 60-year-old Philly grandmother lived in the dorms at Cheyney. Pursuing her education was no easy feat. Davis’ mother had her at the age of 16. She was the oldest of six children and once she was a teenager she had to start working to help provide for her younger siblings. Her education was ultimately put on the back burner. Davis eventually started a family of her own and once her kids got older and her husband started working with SEPTA, she wanted to try something new and believed that education was the answer. After telling her husband that she planned on going to college to earn her degree, he decided to leave her. The lack of support didn’t stop the grandmother of 11 from going after what she wanted. She was awarded a scholarship through Cheyney University’s Keystone Honors Academy. Davis left her Southwest Philadelphia house and lived on campus where she became a source of inspiration for many of her fellow students. She would often tutor other students and give them advice about staying on the right track. At Cheyney, Davis displayed academic excellence. She earned a degree in graphic design and one in fine arts and finished with a 3.97 GPA. Her children and grandchildren were all in attendance at her commencement ceremony and her mother live-streamed the event from her Virginia Beach home. For Davis, the graduation was a full circle moment. She visited the HBCU in the 70s and loved the school. As for what’s on the horizon for Davis, she plans on growing her jewelry box business and creating children’s books. Her educational journey isn’t coming to an end anytime soon. Davis wants to pursue her master’s degree in fine arts. Speaking about fatherhood and raising his daughter Nova in an interview with Global Grind , the Power actor says that night he was just worried about his baby girl because she’d scratched her cornea. Omari says both Beyoncé and Jay-Z asked about Nova that night, which then led to an extended chat with Hov and the viral moment with Bey. From Global Grind : Criticized for how he interacted with Beyoncé at the award show, Omari had yet to discuss the moment publicly until explaining during our interview that, that night he was simply a worried father thanking his friends who’d expressed concern for his daughter throughout the night. “She has ironically been injured in two very historical moments for me,” Omari told  Global Grind  when asked about Nova. “Her cornea was scratched the night of the Image Awards. The length of [my] talk with Jay was him asking me about her eye. The length of the hug with Bey was her asking about her eye. I give the speech and I bring up her eye,” he recalls. Describing another moment when his daughter was hurt, Omari went on to tell us Nova’s head had been “busted by her little brother.” “Her eye is scratched by him the night of the Image Awards. A month to maybe a month and a half later, within the time of Nipsey’s death (who was a friend), now her head is busted,” he said, eyes wide with panic. “So, being a father of a daughter, makes it to where the MET experience for me might’ve been the most slow motion, beautifully embraced reality… walking through those long halls of that gallery… because I was thinking so much, on that long walk through those artifacts, about Nova. I kept thinking about Nova,” he revealed, referencing his appearance alongside Dapper Dan at the 2019 MET Gala earlier this week. Omari also said Jay is like a big bro, so there’s no way he wouldn’t show Beyoncé love. In an earlier sidebar, Omari explained that while the world knows him as Ghost, Jay-Z knows him as a little brother, saying “Jay-Z would’ve punched me in my face if I didn’t hug his wife. He would’ve said ‘n*gga, you don’t see Bey?’” He tells the site that at no point in his life, even before having his daughter, did he think disrespecting women was cool… “My honor and my respect for women – while you have idiot fanbases who go ‘Watch your wife around Omari’ – I got a wife (A), so f*ck you. I love you, but f*ck yo u (B). (C), I respect women so much prior to Nova being born that once Nova got to Earth… man, it doubled my respect for women. Jenni Harley Shares MAJOR Update on Autistic Son’s Development

It was only a month ago that Jenni “JWoww” Farley revealed her son's autism diagnosis . He has a major speech delay. If you watch JWoww's video, which we have included, you'll see that he has made some astounding personal progress in a very short time. Take a look and see little Greyson's powerful journey. Jenni “JWoww” Harley shared some news with her fans in November. Greyson Valor, she revealed, was “non-verbal.” He is autistic, and not all autistic people speak. He has since made great strides, for which she is immensely thankful. In a tribute video that she posted, she shows her son's progress. The dramatic results show how quickly a young child can change in a very short time, especially with speech therapist. What once had JWoww fearing that Greyson would never speak is now a speech delay. The vast majority of two-year-old children are happily speaking and living their best lives. Greyson took until he was a little older than two to show that he recognized his own name. JWoww's video begins with Greyson responding very little or not at all to auditory input. His mother calls his name, and he does not seem aware of it. (Audio processing is complicated, and sometimes works very differently for children and adults on the autistic spectrum) In another scene, he asks for food from his mother, but is unable to verbalize his request. Greyson hit some developmental milestones a little later than Jwoww had hoped. It's not that children on the autistic spectrum are necessarily less intelligent than neurotypical children in their age group. Instead, it's because autism — which is very complicated and comes in many forms — means that his mind processes things differently. The best analogy that comes to mind is traffic. If 90% of people take one route, someone who takes a very different route will arrive at a different time. Speech is complicated, and at times he might be too overwhelmed by other experiences to process what he's hearing, let alone what he is saying. But while some autistic folks remain nonverbal for life, that is not the case with Greyson. As the video reveals, Greyson has made great strides this year in terms of verbal communication. With a little prompting from his mother, Greyson blows a kiss with a very loud verbal “mwah!” In the same clip, in which he is seated in his car seat, he says “hi!” Then, we see Greyson chattering on his own. Many (very loving, very devoted) parents know how exhausting it can be to hear little children who speak nonstop. But to a parent who had feared just months earlier that their child would never speak at all, hearing him jabber feels like a miracle. Of course, rambling without being very intelligible is a far cry from actually speaking. But as we already knew, Greyson has been developing his vocabulary. JWoww's videos include the one that we shared in early December. Greyson, dressed as Dash from The Incredibles , repeats the names of colors on command. Some parents might not be blown away by a video of a child old enough to walk who is parroting their parents' words. But for Greyson, it shows that he doesn't just understand the words — he can also repeat them verbally and intelligibly. This is huge for him and very encouraging to those who love him. Greyson is autistic, and that is part of who he is. There is no “cure” for autism, only therapies to help them thrive in a neurotypical society. As an adult, he may never fully understand when it is and is not his turn to speak. Or, he may be uncomfortable making eye contact with people, especially while talking to them. But he may also be fine with both of those things. Some autistic folks go their entire lives without being diagnosed, and were just seen as “quirky” or “slow” or “awkward” as children. Everybody's a little different, and it's inspiring to see that JWoww has hope for her son's future.

Taylor Swift turned 29 years old on Thursday, December 13. Happy birthday, girl! And a new report says that she can expect a whopper of a post-birthday present any day now from boyfriend Joe Alwyn . Joe is apparently very eager to propose to her. So romantic! Us Weekly reports that Taylor Swift could get a proposal any day now from her British boyfriend. “Joe is very keen on proposing soon,” an insider reveals. We sure hope that this isn’t spoiling any surprises that he might have in store for Taylor! “But,” the source says. “He wants to make it unforgettable.” “And,” the insider continues, Joe wants to make it “extremely special.” We should hope so — there’s only one Taylor Swift. You don’t want a less-than-stellar proposal. But apparently he shouldn’t be too worried. The key to proposing to Taylor may simply be to, well, be his charming self. “He’s her dream guy,” the source gushes. She’s dated some of the hottest and most famous dudes on the planet. But it looks like she and Joe just clic k. So whatever he has planned, it sounds like Taylor’s answer is expected to be in the affirmative. The Grammy winner announced on Instagram that he will be taking a break from music to better learn the “world of God.” “I’m on a plane headed out the country on my first sabbatical. I’m going away to learn the Word of God, which I am admittedly very unfamiliar with,” the 25-year-old wrote earlier last weekend. “I’ve been brought up by my family to know Christ, but I haven’t taken it upon myself to really just take a couple days and read my Bible.” In addition, he added that he hasn’t always made religion a priority in his life, something he wants to remedy in the next 365 days, thanks to his newborn nephew Charlie Matthew. “I’m definitely guilty of not devoting time to [the Bible.] So I’m off to read and learn because the next generation of Bennett is here and I need to be able to give my nephew Charlie Matthew the knowledge and tools to F–K YALL UP.” Concluding, “But seriously he’s the first boy of the next line and he needs his uncle to be educated.So don’t bother me. I’ll be back soon enough, with five or more books from Bible read.” His Instagram post is also accompanied by a picture of the Chicago-native holding the baby boy in his arms. As the Huff Post pointed out , the rapper’s next social media post was a picture of a page from a Christian devotional he was reading.   It’s no secret that Chance has a special relationship with God , but what is a secret is just how long this sabbatical will be.
