Tia Mowry or Meagan Good? The 43rd Annual NAACP Image Awards were held in Los Angeles Friday night and all the stars came out looking their best. Well most of them anyway. We loved the looks on both Tia Mowry Hardrict and fellow “The Game” actress Meagan Good, but if you had to pick, Who Looked More Bangin? We liked this tangerine get up that Sanaa rocked also… Lots more pics on the flip.
This broad might need more people… Singer Stacy Francis, a contestant on “The X Factor” last year, spoke with “Extra” about the rumors she was in involved in a scuffle with Whitney Houston, two days before the superstar’s death. Houston spent Thursday at Tru Nightclub in Hollywood with friends, where Francis said she had words with the “I Will Always Love You” singer. “It wasn’t a violent exchange,” explained Francis. “She did not push me… I looked at her and she moved my face away. If it were not Whitney Houston, it could have been very bad.” Whitney was seen later with what looked like blood on her legs. Francis said she wasn’t the cause. “There was nothing that happened between us that caused her to get blood on her leg.” Was the exchange over Whitney’s on-again, off-again boyfriend Ray J? Francis said, “It was a misunderstanding. We went back and forth for a little while, but all I kept saying to her is that ‘I love you very much and I respect you so much.’ I’ve known [Ray J’s] family for a long time. Ray is honestly like a brother to me.” Francis also said she talked to Whitney about the possibility of being a mentor on “The X Factor.” “I said [to Whitney] ‘You should do it. Being a mentor on the show would be so great. And anybody who would be your contestant — it would be so fortunate for them. Man, I would love to go back on the second season for you to be my mentor.” Hit the flizzip to watch this heffa face as she backtracks, recants, and moonwalks better than Michael Jackson…SMH Image via Extra Source

Plus: Nicole Scherzinger’s Over 30’s step it up after Stacy Francis’ ouster. By Jim Cantiello Astro on “X Factor” Photo: FOX MTV News’ own Jim Cantiello is exclusively covering “The X Factor” rehearsals. Read on for his fly-on-the-wall backstage report! We’re five weeks into the “X Factor” live shows, and sleep deprivation has finally caught up with everyone. Not just the contestants, mind you, but the crew too. With Thanksgiving shifting the production schedule up a day, Team X has been working for almost two weeks straight without a day off. During rehearsals, contestants are cramming in this week’s performances as well as next week’s songs to allow for a day or two off this holiday week — not to mention a double elimination looming over everyone’s heads. And you thought last week’s Astro drama was intense. Speaking of ‘Stro, the young MC is ready to accept any backlash headed his way after his defiant moment in the bottom two. He’s already apologized on his Facebook wall and on Twitter, but I’m also hearing rumblings of an apology in his pre-performance package. Plus, as he always does, he’ll be performing an autobiographical original verse, so you might want to pay extra-close attention to his sly wordplay. Fresh off sending Stacy Francis home , Nicole Scherzinger is pushing her remaining Over 30’s to be as bold as possible. Perhaps that’s why one dude’s tackling an instrument — a live-show first! — and the other dude is trying his hand at a girl’s song. Will the risks pay off? (They certainly did in rehearsals.) Over the weekend, one of Simon Cowell’s girls got a taste of movie magic as she performed in front of a giant green screen. Creative director Brian Friedman shouted descriptions to her to help situate her in a virtual world, which was then digitally added in postproduction. She won’t be performing in front of a green screen come Tuesday night, however. All that work was just for a background graphic that will play behind her as she sings live. Thanks to everyone’s exhaustion, some “X Factor” team members are getting even punchier and zanier. Stylist June Ambrose popped outside of her trailer in a glittery head wrap that would have been perfect for Gloria Swanson had she ever visited Studio 54. “I’m disco, darling,” she proclaimed to the crew members walking by. Her playful antics caught the eye of judge and mentor Paula Abdul, who quickly ran over to the trailer for an impromptu dress-up play date. If only I got an invite … In other Paula news, the mentor all but gave away country-pop group Lakoda Rayne’s song choice during a Ustream broadcast with fans. “It’s a song by someone who did pretty great these past 24 hours. And won lots of awards,” she coyly said. (One only needs to check out the list of 2011 American Music Awards winners to be able to whittle down what artist Lakoda Rayne will be paying homage to in Tuesday’s live show.) And I’ll leave you with my biggest burning question of the week: Will the paint dry in time? Seriously! Hours before showtime, one particular set piece was being slathered with a new coat at the last minute. And considering a contestant will be performing on this Aggro Crag-like structure, will her outfit get soiled by wet paint? Keep your eyes peeled, those of you with HD TVs! You can catch Jim on the “X Factor Pepsi Pre-Show,” streaming at 7 p.m. ET tonight on TheXFactorUSA.com !
‘It had to be said because I think everyone at home was thinking that,’ Cowell tells MTV News of his harsh critique. By James Dinh, with additional reporting by Jim Cantiello Simon Cowell Photo: Ray Mickshaw/ FOX Simon Cowell has never been one to bite his tongue. However, it appears as if the British music mogul has had a change of heart about some harsh words he dished to 15-year-old contestant Astro on last week’s “X Factor” elimination episode. The finalist had offered the audience a rather bitter response to his bottom-two placement by refusing to sing for his life. MTV News’ own Jim Cantiello sat down with Cowell recently and chatted about the much-talked-about results show, which sent 42-year old songstress Stacy Francis packing and saved the teen rapper. “I gotta say, on the night, I was really annoyed, and not for anything else other than for him,” the judge said. “And then I watched it back that night, and then I felt sorry for him.” While Cowell admitted that he felt “a bit” bad that he came down so hard on the pint-size MC after the broadcast, he explained that it was necessary because “everyone at home was thinking that.” “I think if I had been light on him, I think it would have been worse for him because I think it made him aware of how he was coming across,” he continued. And as viewers saw, Simon was anything but light on the contestant during the elimination round. After Astro announced that he didn’t want to perform before the judges’ make-or-break decision, Cowell responded by saying, “Look at me, and think about your mum watching the show. Because you are showing disrespect to your mom. You are showing disrespect to the audience at home, and I don’t like people with this attitude.” Astro appeared to be in better spirits the following day when he took to Twitter , writing, “Good morning #teamASTRO I had a ‘fight the system’ moment last night. Sorry if I disappointed you guys. I WILL make you all proud next week!” Do you think Simon was too harsh on Astro last week? Let us know in the comments. In the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that has roiled Penn State, two Syracuse University ball boys say they were molested by the school’s associate head basketball coach, Bernie Fine, in the late 1970s and continuing into the 1990s. Police in Syracuse said they have opened an investigation. In a statement Thursday night, Syracuse said it has placed Fine on administrative leave. One of the alleged victims, Bobby Davis, told ESPN that Bernine Fine molested him starting in 1984, shortly before Davis entered the seventh grade. Davis, the team’s ball boy for six years beginning in 1984, said the abuse occurred at Fine’s home, at Syracuse basketball facilities, and on road trips. The second alleged victim, Mike Lang, now 45, is Davis’ stepbrother and was also a ball boy for several years. He said Fine molested him at a similar age. Davis said Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim saw him in Fine’s hotel room on several of those road trips, but never told Boeheim about the alleged abuse. Police stressed that they are in the early stages of the investigation. Thursday evening, police planned to interview both men who made the allegations. Both men spoke in video interviews with ESPN Thursday night, describing the alleged acts by Fine – reaching into their shorts and rubbed their genitals. Fine is in his 35th season as an assistant to Boeheim, who came to his defense. “I know this kid, but I never saw him in any rooms or anything,” Boeheim said. “It is a bunch of a thousand lies that he has told,” the head coach said. “You don’t think it is a little funny that his cousin (relative) is coming forward?” “He supplied four names to the university that would corroborate his story. None of them did … there is only one side to this story. He is lying.” The university has just responded publicly as well. Kevin Quinn, Syracuse’s Senior V.P. for public affairs, issued a statement on behalf of the school: “In 2005, Syracuse University was contacted by an adult male who told us that he had reported to the Syracuse City Police that he had been subjected to inappropriate contact by an associate men’s basketball coach. The alleged activity took place in the 1980’s and 1990’s. We were informed by the complainant that the Syracuse City Police had declined to pursue the matter because the statute of limitations had expired. “On hearing of the allegations in 2005, the University immediately launched its own comprehensive investigation through its legal counsel. That nearly four-month long investigation included a number of interviews with people the complainant said would support his claims. All of those identified by the complainant denied any knowledge of wrongful conduct by the associate coach. The associate coach also vehemently denied the allegations. “Syracuse University takes any allegation of this sort extremely seriously and has zero tolerance for abuse of any kind. If any evidence or corroboration of the allegations had surfaced, we would have terminated the associated coach and reported it to the police immediately. We understand that the Syracuse City Police has now reopened the case, and Syracuse University will cooperate fully. We are steadfastly committed ensuring that SU remains a safe place for every member of our campus community.” The Penn State scandal, exposed after former defensive coordinator Sandusky was charged with 40 criminal counts of molesting at least eight boys over a 15-year span, got Joe Paterno fired and became the talk of the nation. Is Syracuse basketball, another storied collegiate sports institution, now headed down a similar path, or will this set of accusations prove false? More details to follow as the story develops …
Stacy Francis got in a few parting shots after her elimination from The X Factor last night, and it was difficult to blame the contestant for any of them. The aspiring singer was given the boot even after 14-year old Astro whined about being a member of the final two and sulked his way through a rendition of “Never Say Goodbye.” Simon Cowell berated the young singer, but still voted for Stacy to leave. “I feel like I had a disadvantage by not being in his category,” Francis told reporters after the episode aired, predicting that someone from Simon’s group would win and saying the judge “beat up everyone in the competition last night except his category.” As for Astro’s initial refusal to even sing for the panel’s votes? Stacy referred to this attitude as “obnoxious” and added: “Astro’s 14 and you can call him a teenager and give him an excuse, but bad behavior is bad behavior. He was ungracious in that moment… I’m very very honored and I’m grateful for coming this far. I wanted to go all the way and I didn’t, so it’s time for me to reevaluate my life and see what happens from here. I think it’ll be okay.” Do you think the judges made the right decision? Did the right top 10 member go home?
Astro and Rachel Crow also earn high marks, but Stacy Francis and Lakoda Rayne draw Simon Cowell’s ire. By Adam Graham Josh Krajcik performs on “The X Factor” Photo: FOX “The X Factor” took on rock music Wednesday, with decidedly rocky results. The debate of what really constitutes rock overshadowed the proceedings, with the increasingly catty judges sniping at one another over their song choices and whether they fit the evening’s theme. In the end, only one performer, Josh Krajcik, turned in what could truly be considered a rockin’ performance, plugging in and kicking out the jams with the Foo Fighters’ “Pretender.” Krajcik was the evening’s big winner — inspiring mentor Nicole Scherzinger to head-bang her way through his performance — along with teen rapper Astro, who is quickly becoming a favorite in the competition. Astro’s original song, a dedication to hip-hop rapped to Puff Daddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You,” caused L.A. Reid to gush that he not only has what it takes to win the competition, but also to become a “major international star,” while Simon Cowell told him he has more maturity and intelligence than the older contestants he’s up against. Astro’s consistency, meanwhile, irked Paula Abdul. “Can you just suck for once?” she pleaded. “I don’t think you can!” Here’s how the remainder of the contestants fared: The Boys Chris Rene, sporting one of Jay-Z’s controversial Occupy All Streets T-shirts , did Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry,” which Cowell argued wasn’t nearly rockin’ enough. “Loved the performance. Would have been great if the theme was reggae,” Cowell quipped. Marcus Canty’s take on Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart” earned high marks from everyone but Cowell, who said it felt like he was pretending to be someone he’s not. L.A. Reid shot back with a simple, “You rocked!” The Girls Coming off a strong performance last week, Rachel Crow took on the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” which more than satisfied the judges. “The question is, can you sell records? Can you sell tickets? And the answer is yes,” Reid beamed. Melanie Amaro’s piano-and-vocals version of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” was dismissed as “so not rock” by Reid, and Scherzinger questioned why she wasn’t moved to tears by the song (she explained that, normally, she is a weeping mess by the song’s close). Cowell, however, boasted that the performance reminded him of Adele and Alicia Keys — performers who are not the least bit rock, mind you, but who happen to sell a lot of records. Fourteen-year-old Drew, meanwhile, took on U2’s “With or Without You” — which was similar to her version of Coldplay’s “Fix You” last week — and Reid, Scherzinger and Abdul all stressed they’d like to hear her do something outside her comfort zone. But Cowell dismissed their comments and praised her, saying he’s confident she’ll be in the competition “until the end.” The Over 30’s LeRoy Bell’s straightforward reading of Bob Seger’s “We’ve Got Tonight” was smacked down by the judges. “You’re good, man, but I need more. This is the big time,” Reid scolded him. Stacy Francis dedicated her performance of Meat Loaf’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” to her “Franatics,” but Cowell trashed her performance with his most stinging critique of the season to date. “It was the sort of thing I would expect someone to sing at the Hilton hotel with people turning their backs eating peanuts,” he said. (It’s safe to say he is not a Franatic.) The Group Lakoda Rayne, Paula Abdul’s sole remaining group , got hammered for what Cowell called their “stupid” and “gimmicky” choreography, and he called the group’s performance of the Outfield’s “Your Love” mashed up with Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” “a complete mess.” When Reid called Cowell’s critique harsh, Cowell barked, “Watch your back” at Reid. Me-ow, you two! One finalist is due to be sent home on Thursday’s (November 17) show, which is also set to feature a live performance by Rihanna. What did you think of rock night on “The X Factor”? Killer Love now reportedly slated for December 6 release. By Gil Kaufman Nicole Scherzinger Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage After waiting more than five years for the domestic release of former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger ‘s debut solo effort, surely her fans can hold on for a few more weeks? The long-delayed Killer Love, which dropped in an alternate version in England in March, was slated to finally wash up on American shores on November 15. But according to the Hollywood Reporter, the disc has once again been delayed, pushed back a few weeks until December 6. No reason was given for the latest delay and the singer’s label, Interscope Records, would only say that the new release date would be “early December.” The U.S. version of the Scherzinger disc is slated to feature production by a slew of heavy hitters, including Lady Gaga collaborator RedOne, Jim Jonsin, The-Dream, Harvey Mason Jr. and Tricky Stewart. Sting (“Power’s Out”) and Snoop Dogg (“Peep Show”) are among the reported guests. 50 Cent lends some verses to the first single, “Right There.” A spokesperson for Interscope could not be reached for comment at press time about the release-date change. Scherzinger began work on her solo debut in 2005, only to shelve that album and start over again on the new effort several years later. In the meantime, Scherzinger is busy with her other full-time gig as a judge on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor.” On Thursday night’s baseball-delayed mentors’ home-visit episode , Scherzinger hooked up with Enrique Iglesias to judge the talents of her assigned group of mentees: the over 30s. So far, Scherzinger, who was tapped as the fourth judge after original fourth judge Cheryl Cole was let go early in production, has served as a type of younger doppelg
