Draft language for the official 2012 Republican Party platform reportedly includes support for a constitutional ban on abortion without exclusions. In other words, abortions would not be permitted even in cases of rape or incest. The news comes amid the ongoing Todd Akin legitimate rape controversy and calls for the GOP Senate candidate to drop out of the race. Akin, who opposes all abortions, remarked that rape victims rarely get pregnant because the female body finds ways to “shut that whole thing down.” The GOP Congressman running against Sen. Claire McCaskill has faced calls to abandon his campaign from both parties after making the comment. Despite the firestorm Akin ignited, leaked details on the Republican party’s position reveal that nationally, Republicans generally agree with him: “Faithful to the ‘self-evident’ truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed,” the GOP platform states. “We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.” Kirk Cameron would definitely approve … but what about the GOP standard-bearer? Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign moved swiftly to distance itself from Akin’s remarks. His spokesman Andrea Saul said: “Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan disagree with Mr. Akin, and a Romney-Ryan administration would not oppose abortion in instances of rape.” Yet the statement is a departure from Ryan’s, which has been that abortion should only be legal in cases where the life of the mother is at risk. Ryan sponsored a fetal personhood bill, which would effectively criminalize abortion and some forms of birth control without exceptions for rape victims. Romney personally told the National Review this week, “Congressman’s Akin comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong.” “Like millions of other Americans, we found them to be offensive.” Should Akin drop out? Bieber gets his dance on with new Believe track, which dropped Tuesday. By Jocelyn Vena Ludacris and Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images Justin Bieber has re-teamed with his pal Ludacris on “All Around the World,” off his forthcoming album Believe , and this party track is a far cry from the sugary sweet puppy-love track “Baby.” Grinding, fist-pumping and produced by the Messengers, the song sounds a bit like it could have been recorded by Bieber’s mentor Usher. A likely contender for the song of the summer, he’ll no doubt have fans dancing along with the track. It’s a definite party anthem, full of bleeps, dubstep breakdowns and swirling production. “All around the world/ People want to be loved, yeah/ ‘Cause all around the world/ They’re no different than us,” Bieber proclaims on the club-banging chorus. When Luda pops in to drop his verse, he’s no longer rapping about first love as he did on “Baby.” He’s definitely upped the swagger for this track, mirroring Bieber’s more mature stance on the track. He spits, “Once again, dynamic duos are back!/ JB, Luda!/ I love everything about you/ You’re imperfectly perfect!/ Everyone’s itching for beauty/ But they’re just scratching the surface.” For the single’s artwork, Bieber is holding an acoustic guitar over his shoulder, standing on the surface of the world, the moon glowing behind him. The acoustic guitar is an interesting choice given how much of a dance song “All Around the World” is. This is the third song dropped ahead of the album’s release on June 19. He already has girls swooning with “Boyfriend” and “Die in Your Arms.” According to Aceshowbiz.com , Bieber will release another new track, “As Long as You Love Me,” on June 12. “All Around the World” isn’t just the name of a new Bieber song. It also happens to be the title of his prime-time special airing June 21 on NBC . The hour-long show will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at his global promotional tour in support of the album. And given the chaos he’s caused everywhere he’s been, including stops in Norway and Paris , it should make for some interesting viewing. Thanks to our recent run-in with the main man at CinemaCon, it seems as if Rambo’s rest has come to an end and we might see him rise again. “There’s a volcanic eruption [brewing]. The magma of Rambo is coming to the surface,” Stallone said when asked about his thoughts on bringing the character back to the big screen.
