Mariah Carey posed for her first American Idol promotional photo a couple weeks ago, and it was beautiful and everything. But a new pair of pictures, uploaded by the singer herself, is eliciting far more of a reaction online. And it all goes something like this: AWWWWW! Over the weekend, Carey Tweeted a photo of herself and son Moroccan in bed, adding the caption: “Me&Roc Starr taking a lil nap.” Not wanting to leave little Monroe out, she then added one of her son’s twin, responding to followers with: “As per your request, me & ms. Monroe on a lazy day: ).” Looks like the perfect summer afternoon for a new mother, doesn’t it?
Alleged gang thug Michael Mendez is being held by police in Paterson, N.J., after a drug search in his apartment uncovered a shocking discovery: A 44-year old woman. She was kept padlocked in a room by her boyfriend for long periods of time – perhaps as long as a decade – according to law enforcement officials. The woman was discovered by members of the state police investigating Michael Mendez, believed to be a member of the Latin Kings street gang. State police spokesman Sgt. 1st Class Brian Polite said based on interviews and evidence, investigators believe she was held there for 2-10 years. Investigators said the woman was sometimes let out when her boyfriend was home and Mendez, 42, was a familiar face around the neighborhood. A neighbor said he has known Mendez for a dozen years now and that he could often be seen outside, polishing a car and listening to music. The neighbor, who would not give his name due to safety concerns, said he saw the woman a few times in recent years, though it was rare. Neighbors on either side of Mendez’s top-floor, brick-building apartment said they weren’t aware that another person lived in the apartment. Mendez, who police say is a member of the Latin Kings, was being held Monday at Passaic County Jail. Authorities didn’t know if he had an attorney. No one answered when a reporter knocked on his apartment door Monday. Mendez was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and other counts related to the drugs officials said they were looking for in the first place. State police said they found 4,200 prescription pills valued at $100,000, 190 grams of marijuana valued at nearly $2,000 and nearly $23,000 in cash.
After laying low for awhile, following the heartbreak brought on by Kristen Stewart’s affair , Robert Pattinson pulled double public duty last night. First, he appeared as a guest on The Daily Show , eating ice cream with Jon Stewart and refraining from any bashing of his lying ex-girlfriend. Pattinson then went straight from there to he Museum Of Modern Art in New York City, where he walked the red carpet of the Cosmopolis , which opens in select cities this Friday. There to support Lifetime and her new Liz & Dick movie, Lohan showed off her new skin shade of copper, applies unevenly, and absurdly plump lips. Collagen, kids. Don’t do it. Lindsay’s face also appears more taut and stretched than before, perhaps the result of having work done, which is perhaps the result of attempting to stave off the effects of smoking, drinking, snorting coke, tanning and emotional abuse. When it comes to the upcoming video for Young Jeezy and Ne-Yo ‘s new single “Leave You Alone,” the former definition applies, but judging from the video’s trailer , which was released online on Thursday, the DJ Khaled definition is also applicable. “Make sure you check for that video coming real soon. It’s a movie. Not even in a DJ Khaled sense; like, it’s really a movie,” Ne-Yo told MTV News on Sunday when he walked the red carpet before the 2012 NBA All-Star Game in Orlando. Ne-Yo didn’t want to give too much of the video’s plot away, but he did hint that Jizzle would be moving just a bit out of his comfort zone in the TAJ_TPK-directed clip. “We both kind of stayed in our own lanes but made it make sense,” Ne-Yo said. “I moved just far enough out of my lane to make sense for him and he moved just far enough out of his to make sense for me, but it’s still Ne-Yo, it’s still Jeezy, and it’s all good, trust.” Trailers for videos aren’t normally this dramatic, but the Jeezy-narrated clip is more Hollywood than hip-hop. The Snowman’s new female-friendly TM 103 single is a departure from his normal trap anthems, though Jeezy does well to stay in his character of thug motivator. On the track, Young raps about a forbidden love, while Ne-Yo’s R&B hook puts the age-old good-girls-love-bad-boys narrative in perfect context. The dramatic minute-and-a-half trailer does even more to illustrate the story. From the start, the ATL spitter reminds viewers of the pitfalls of his hustling lifestyle, having to watch his back and not being able to trust anyone. Doesn’t seem like love is in the cards for Jeezy, until a young beauty from a rival Latin crew catches his eye. “She been on my mind, but the problem was I could never see her face until now,” Jeezy said, setting up the video’s main plotline. “My life, this life, will never be the same again/ Her name is Olivia, yeah.” Young Jeezy’s “Leave You Alone” video will be out March 9. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ross McAlpine Childish Gambino Photo: MTV News Don’t call Childish Gambino ‘s upcoming “Heartbeat” clip a video; rather, it’s a reflection of how the actor-turned-rapper was feeling when he recorded it. “I do not really have a set of things in mind. I thought the best way to convey the feeling that’s in the song was to be confused ourselves,” Childish Gambino, a.k.a. “Community” star Donald Glover, told MTV News last week during a break from filming the clip in Van Nuys, California. “I guess when it’s all said and done, fans should be able to check this out and just see my visualization of the song.” “Heartbeat” — from CG’s debut album, Camp — is an electrified breakup song equipped with pulsating drums and buzzing synth chords. The rapper, who is better known (for now) for his role as Troy Barnes on “Community,” enlisted director Kyle Newacheck to shoot the visual. Newacheck directed an episode of the NBC comedy back in 2009. In the month leading up to his November release, Childish told MTV News that Camp was a “labor of love.” With the independently released LP, Gambino aimed to tell a story. “The biggest compliment I can give it is that I like it more than everything else I’ve done,” he said. “I think it’s a cohesive piece, and I wanted to tell a whole story with it. Hopefully, the whole album is like a book or a novel where [there’s] a through line.” “Heartbeat” is simply a chapter in that story, and its video will be reflective. “This is kinda like the mood of the song,” Gambino said. “I wouldn’t say it’s so much a video as much as it is just a mood.” What are you expecting from Childish’s “Heartbeat” video?
