Jesus Take The Wheel: 21 Injured After Boeing 737 Slides Into St. John’s River In Florida

Source: U.S. Navy / Getty Plane Skids Off Of The Runway And Into A River A Boeing 737 charter jet arriving at the Jacksonville, Florida from Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, slid off the runway into the St. Johns River on Friday night, injuring 21 people, according to authorities . All 136 passengers and seven crew members had been rescued by early Saturday morning, a Navy spokeswoman said. Luckily, none of the injuries were life-threatening. “I think it is a miracle,” Capt. Michael P. Connor, the commanding officer at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, said at a news conference on Saturday morning. “We could be talking about a different story.” The sheriff’s office said the plane had never been submerged with photos showed the aircraft floating on the St. Johns River. The incident occurred at about 9:40 p.m. as the pilot attempted to land the jet amid heavy thunder and rain. The flight was operated by  Miami Air International , a charter company that shuttles military service members from the base in Guantánamo Bay to naval air stations in Jacksonville and Norfolk, Virginia.  Boeing has been under some serious scrutiny following two deadly crashes of its 737 Max jet within months of each other–while Miami Air International’s website says the airline exclusively uses the Boeing 737-800 jet, which is a different model. The Max planes have been grounded in the United States and several other countries in the aftermath of the Ethiopian Airlines crash. Luckily, there were no serious injuries or fatalities in this latest incident.

Lady Gaga, Kesha Trash Katy Perry in Leaked Texts: She’s So Mean!

Back in 2016,  Kesha alleged that she was raped by famed record music producer Dr. Luke. Luke has worked with some of the biggest names in pop over the course of his career, and Kesha insisted that she was not his only victim. In court documents that were unsealed last year, Kesha accused Luke of raping Katy Perry, and to the surprise of many, Perry remained silent on the matter. But while she never spoke out on social media, Perry did respond to the allegations in court. And it seems the singer was not happy to be dragged into a legal battle she wanted no part in. In a 2017 deposition unsealed today and obtained by Radar Online, Katy makes her feelings on the situation very clear: “Annoyed, pissed off that she would bring me into it in this way, annoyed at both Luke and Kesha,” Perry replied when asked how she felt about Kesha’s claims. Perry stated that she was never assaulted by Luke, but declined to support him publicly, as she knew her fans would be “very angry” if she were to defend an accused rapist. “I would be attacked, I would be the one woman that is against women and I’m not against women, but I believe in innocent until proven guilty and I believe in justice,” she told the court. “I want to stay out of it because I know them both and I empathize with both of them and obviously it’s a horrible situation for both of them,” she added. “And the only two people that know what really went on are those two people.” Today’s unsealed files also contain a transcript of a 2016 text message conversation between Kesha and Lady Gaga on the subject of Perry: “Was crying a lot today and needed my mom,” Kesha told her fellow pop star. “I’m really upset with Katy Perry … She could bring the whole thing to a head…She was raped by the same man. She is probably really afraid to lose everything.” “U are really strong standing up to him, she’s not as strong as u yet,” Gaga assured her friend, adding: “Have you talked to her?” “[You’re] right. I need to find sympathy and empathy for her. She’s so mean. It’s hard,” Kesha responded. “Do you want me to see if I can talk to her?” Gaga said. “I know she’s mean.” Kesha was definitive in response, texting, “OMG, NO!” in response to Gaga’s offer to intervene. While no criminal charges have been filed against Luke, he and Kesha have both filed civil suits against one another. Their legal battle remains ongoing. Southwest Airlines Apologizes, Says No One Should Laugh at the Name Abcde

The internet lost its mind after learning that a woman named her actual daughter “Abcde.” The furious mother complained that her child had been mocked by an airline employee who couldn’t believe the name on the boarding pass. Now, Southwest Airlines is apologizing profusely. Traci Redford says that her 5-year-old daughter, whose actual name is Abcde, was insulted and mocked by an airline employee. The girl’s name is pronounced ab-city . And yes, it is objectively funny on every level. However, Traci was not amused when a Southwest Airlines employee at John Wayne Airport in California laughed at the name on her daughter’s boarding pass. She was even less amused that the employee apparently photographed the girl’s name on the boarding pass in order to share it on social media. Now, Southwest has issued an apology. In a statement to People , Southwest Airlines profusely apologized for their employee’s very human reaction. “We extend our sincere apology to the family,” the statement begins. “We take great pride in extending our Southwest Hospitality to all of our Customers,” Southwest continues. The statement continues: “which includes living by the Golden Rule and treating every individual with respect, in person or online.” “The post is not indicative of the care, respect, and civility we expect from all of our Employees,” the airline says. “We have followed up with the Employee involved,” Southwest’s apology continues. That sounds … unpleasant for everyone involved. “And,” Southwest says. “While we do not disclose personnel actions publicly.” The statement continues: “we are using this as an opportunity to reinforce our policies.” Hopefully, that means making it a teaching moment, rather than making an example of those involved. “And,” Southwest concludes, they are working to “emphasize our expectations for all Employees.” Traci Redford spoke about the ordeal that her daughter experienced at the airport. “The gate agent started mocking my child’s name, laughing” Traci described. Traci said that the employee was “pointing at me and my daughter and talking to other employees.” “So,” Traci described. “I turned around and just said, ‘Hey, I can hear you, so if I can hear you, my daughter can, too. I’d appreciate it if you’d just stop.'” Apparently her daughter was puzzled: “She asked me, ‘Mom, why is she laughing at my name?’” “And,” Traci continued. “I said, ‘You know, honey, not everybody is nice, and not everyone is going to be nice, and it’s unfortunate.'” “While I was sitting there,” Traci accused. “She took a picture of my boarding pass and chose to post it on social media.” Traci clearly resents the employee apparently “mocking my daughter,” “It was actually brought to my attention by somebody who had seen it on Facebook,” Traci reveals. Yeah, we do have to say that, laughter may be involuntary, but uploading to social media? That’s a choice. (The “thirst” equivalent of this situation would be, like, the Alex From Target incident) “And,” Traci concluded, she “reported it to Southwest Airlines.” Children cannot help their names. Even adults have to go to court in order to get their names legally changed, and it takes time and money. As funny as a name like Abcde may be, it is totally inappropriate for anyone — especially an employee in the service industry — to mock a child to her face. Children can be very sensitive to these things. Instead, people should focus their ire on the mother, who cursed her with that name — which looks like a joke or a typo — in the first place. Someone who is not a Southwest employee should have explained to her that she was setting up her daughter for decades of ridicule. From elementary school classrooms to job applications, her daughter is going to face challenges that she does not deserve because of that name. View Slideshow: 22 People That Are Actually Named This

Git, Git, Brrahhh: Desiigner Kicked Off Scandinavian Flight For Allegedly Threatening Staff, He Asks Fans To Boycott [Video]

Not sure where the new music is that Desiigner claimed he’d be dropping in the Summer, but the “Panda” rapper is making headlines more these days for his personal drama than his music. On Monday night, he was kicked off a plane in Europe after a flight attendant allegedly put her hands on him. TMZ reports , The NYC rapper posted a series of videos Tuesday explaining a run-in he had on Scandinavian Airlines Monday night, where he says an older female flight attendant got touchy with him — which caused him to “spazz” out on her and get booted from the flight. He also says he was banned from SAS for a whole year, and goes on to call on his fans to avoid flying with them in the aftermath. Desiigner basically chalks it up to flying while black. The airline has yet to make an official statement regarding the incident, but they did tell TMZ that “some passengers behaved in a threatening manner toward the crew” and that “such behavior is unacceptable and that safety is their first priority.” Do you think the incident was race related?

What The Hell?! Jet Airways Passengers’ Ears And Noses Bleed After Pilot “Forgot” To Turn On Cabin Pressure

Getty Images Airplane Passengers Suffer Injuries From Pilot Mistake Some very unlucky passengers on a flight recently began bleeding from their noses and ears when a pilot “forgot” to flick a switch regulating cabin pressure, according to reports. Jet Airways Flight 9W 697 from Mumbai to Jaipur was forced to turn around and go back shortly after takeoff on Thursday, when the airplane completely lost pressure, the Hindustan Times newspaper reported. The video from inside the eerily calm cabin shows the oxygen masks being deployed and passengers slowly putting them on. Panic situation due to technical fault in @jetairways 9W 0697 going from Mumbai to Jaipur. Flt return back to Mumbai after 45 mts. All passengers are safe including me. pic.twitter.com/lnOaFbcaps — Darshak Hathi (@DarshakHathi) September 20, 2018 “Panic situation,” wrote one person. Another added, “Scores of passengers including me bleeding from nose… no staff to help… no announcement on board to wear the oxygen mask. Passenger safety completely ignored.” More than 30 of the 166 passengers on board suffered bleeding and headaches, and had to be treated when the flight landed back at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, according to a statement by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Larit Gupta, a senior official with the department, told the Hindustan Times newspaper that the crew had forgotten to activate a switch to maintain cabin pressure. It seems like there are new reports of suspicious or dangerous plane activity nearly every day, so unfortunately, this is nothing new. Most recently, celebrities including Post Malone and Ray J. and Princess have been forced to take emergency landings on their private planes due to unsafe situations up in the air. In other celebrity flight news, Ty Dolla $ign was being put on all types of blast when he reportedly caused a ruckus on his flight over a dog allergy. But celebrities aren’t the only ones experiencing this airline debacles–one fan recently stole a plane in an attempt to fly himself to the Beyonce & Jay Z On The Run II Tour , which didn’t go as planned. If there’s one thing we can count on in this world, it’s plane mishaps.

Airline Ticket Price Hikes Criticized As Exploiting Hurricane Evacuees

Read this article:

W ith the powerful winds of Hurricane Irma approaching Florida, some airlines are hiking ticket prices well beyond the budget of many seeking to escape the destructive storm,  CBS News reports. The outlet interviewed a Vermont man, Steve McQueen , who said he spent  $1,725 to fly his 87-year-old mother from Fort Myers, Florida to Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday. He told CBS that he understands what happens with last minute ticket purchases but called the price “ghastly.”  Delta Airlines was publicly shamed when a prospective customer tweeted a price change  from $547.50 to $3,258.50 found on Expedia.com,  NBC News reported. Since that post went viral, others reported United Airlines and American Airlines for similar price hikes. Shame on you @delta . Jacking from $547 to over $3200 for people trying to evacute responsibly? #IrmaHurricane pic.twitter.com/O2nfPHQUAh — Leigh (@LeighDow) September 5, 2017 According to CBS, price gouging related to emergencies is illegal in Florida. That rule applies to hotels, gas stations and grocery stores–but not airlines. The federal government is responsible for regulating the airline industry. Exorbitant pricing complicates evacuation arrangements for students like Antonio Mercurius , an African American studies and health science major at the University of Miami. Mercurius told the  Miami Herald he felt “lucky” to have purchased his flight to the District of Columbia on Monday, before the hikes. The co-founder of the student poetry collective Speak How You Feel told reporters he was concerned about the safety of others who can’t afford the increased prices:  “Why is there no emergency evacuation cost? I understand supply and demand but the laws of capitalism should not operate in the times of catastrophic danger. What happens to the people that can’t afford flights now?” After public outrage over the “laws of capitalism,” some airlines began to change their tunes and prices. JetBlue set a $99 cap for direct flights out of Florida. American Airlines set a similar cap for outgoing flights. A spokesperson for Delta Airlines announced that it would adjust prices for last-minute flights, waive change fees, and accommodate more passengers with larger planes. Justifiable Jet Blues? Family Kicked Off Flight Over Chair-Kicking Baby Wants Apology

Getty Image Fair Or Foul? Family Of 5 Get Kicked Off Plane Over Chair Kicking 1-Year-Old A couple and their three children were booted from a JetBlue flight back in May and they are still mad as hell about it. Accordin to Yahoo , Mandy Ifrah, of Brooklyn, says the ordeal blew up after they say their 1-year-old daughter  kicked  the seat of another passenger. The mom says her 1 year old daughter got fussy just before takeoff and was kicking the seat in front of her. Ifrah said she apologized to the passenger, who simply changed seats. Moments later, a JetBlue supervisor stepped in. Cell phone video shows him telling the family to leave the plane. “Everything was done and over with,” she said. “No argument, no violence. Nothing like that whatsoever.” Take a look at the footage. Video via WP After they were escorted off the flight, the family’s luggage stayed on board. This left her kids with no clothes or her baby with no diapers while they waited in the Ft. Lauderdale airport. Ifrah said that all she wants from the airline is an apology. Do you think they deserved to get booted off of the flight, entirely?
