Wiz Khalifa Promises ‘Theatrical’ Set At Tonight’s Movie Awards

‘My show is evolving … so it’s going to be more themed,’ Wiz teases. Tune in tonight at 9 p.m. ET on MTV! By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Spielberg, if you’re watching on Sunday (June 3), you might want to keep an eye on Wiz Khalifa . The Taylor Gang captain is set to take the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards where he’ll perform his new single “Work Hard, Play Hard” . And while Wiz will show off his musical talents, Hollywood may also get a glimpse of his acting chops. “My show is evolving and everything that I’m doing, so it’s going to be more themed,” Wiz told MTV News’ Sway Calloway after his rehearsal at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. “It’s for the Movie [Awards], so it’s going to be more theatrical. … People are going to see that side of it as well as me performing and giving my energy.” Khalifa has already done some on-camera work. Last, year he and Snoop Dogg shot their upcoming stoner comedy “Mac & Devin Go to High School.” It was Wiz’s first acting gig, but by the time the movie wrapped, the Pittsburgh MC could see his own progress.” I had to do makeup every day to cover my tattoos. I had to spray my hair to get the blond out, but it was cool. It was an experience, and it was really, really fun to be a novice at acting, be brand-new and then have to learn,” Khalifa told us last December. “I watched the movie, and I can actually see myself getting better in the movie.” For now, however, Wiz seems mostly focused on the music. On August 28, he’s scheduled to drop his sophomore album, O.N.I.F.C. (Only N—a in First Class), and fans will get to hear him perform the LP’s first single on Sunday night during the big show. Of course, tonight’s “theatrical” set should build anticipation for the upcoming album and, if it helps Wiz land a new acting gig or two, he’d welcome the opportunity. “That would be tight,” he said with his signature Khalifa cackle. When Snooki Met Nicki Minaj At The Grammys

‘Jersey Shore’ starlet and Young Money rapper become fast friends on the red carpet. By Eric Ditzian Snooki and Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News Last year at the Grammys , Snooki held court on the red carpet as MTV News’ guest correspondent, sharing deeply odd and seriously hilarious chats with the likes of Justin Bieber (“Do you get a lot of, like, girls?”) and Katy Perry (“Did you really kiss a girl?”). Is it any surprise, then, that the “Jersey Shore” star once again found herself in some unlikely and amusing bonding sessions with some of the biggest names in the music business? Perhaps none of her red-carpet interviews was more entertaining than her lengthy convo with Nicki Minaj . They talked fashion, reality TV, awards-show craziness and, by the end, it was hard to tell which gal was more excited about the meeting. “Did you know that I’m obsessed with her?” Nicki said. Countered Snooki, “I’m obsessed with Nicki!” Things got started when Minaj — done up like a safari-inspired bride of Frankenstein — sauntered over, leading Snickers to wonder, “Is this your hair or no?” “Snooks? What, do you mean to dis my hair?” Nicki said. “I mean I’m jealous!” “OK, whatever! I wanted you to wear your pouf today so we could be matching.” “I did,” confessed Snooki, “but it deflated from the heat, you know what I mean?” And thus, a friendship was born. It was a long time in the making. Nicki made clear that she’s a big fan of “Jersey Shore,” referencing recent shenanigans on the show and revealing that she’s already made the acquaintance of one of Snooki’s pals. “Guess who I just spoke to? Pauly D,” she said. “He was basically saying if he could be my valentine, and I finally said yes.” “That’s cute!” said Snooki, who had even more effusive praise for Nicki’s over-the-top, animal print-heavy outfit. “I had to do some leopard because I’m ferocious,” Nicki said. Before she headed inside, the Pink Friday songstress paid the reality star one compliment Snooki is unlikely to forget. “I’m proud of you,” she said. “You’re doing your thing, and I’m excited.” What do you think of new BFFs Snooki and Nicki? Hi Hater: Fergie Ferg Throws Shade At Janet Jackson

Here goes Fergie bringing up old sh*t. Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s most infamous moment is so far behind us that the NFL has allowed Black folks Urban Music and women to come back to the Super Bowl. But being part of the group to bring it back wasn’t enough to stop Fergie from throwing shade at the greatness that is Miss Jackson. Fergie will be the first woman to appear on the Super Bowl half-time stage since JANET JACKSON’s infamous boob-revealing performance in 2004 and she’s determined to keep it clean. The Black Eyed Peas star will hit the stage during the big game with her bandmates, Usher and Slash – and she doesn’t want a repeat of the fall-out following Jackson’s controversial wardrobe malfunction, when co-performer Justin Timberlake ripped open the singer’s top to reveal a sparkly breast. Fergie says, “We wanna keep it clean fun. A little bit of sexual appeal is fine, just nothing that’s inappropriate… I’ve worn some pretty revealing costumes and things in videos, but it’ll be no good at the Super Bowl, fun for the whole family.” Bandmate will.i.am insists, “We’ve never been known for that.” That performance better the BUSINESS. The View Fights Back: Babs, Behar Bash Snooki

Taking a break from espousing their opinions on Gabrielle Giffords, Sarah Palin and blood libels , The View focused on something equally pressing this morning: Snooki. Responding to the Snooki and JWoww video from earlier in the week, which itself was a response to Joy Behar’s ridicule of them, Barbara Walters fought back. Jersey Shore’s View on Joy Behar Describing Snook as “a woman who drinks too much” (that’s putting it mildly) and gets “smacked in the face,” Babs went about as far overboard as she can. Behar commented drily, “I didn’t know they allowed cameras into AA meetings.” Ohhh, you got them there. Your move, Jersey Shore cast. Your move.

Kim Kardashian Teases "Provocative" Super Bowl Ad

Due to her affinity for professional athletes, it should come as no surprise that Kim Kardashian would be involved in the most widely-watched sports day of the year: The giant-breasted red carpet poser will appear in an ad for Skechers ShapeUps at some point during the big game. She teased it as “provocative” this week, telling USA Today of the spot: “I break someone’s heart – again.” In other Super Bowl commercial news: Faith Hill will star in an ad for Teleflora, while Danica Patrick and Jillian Michaels will both grace the screen as Go Daddy spokeswomen. At some point on February 6, a football game might even be played.

‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’ Trailer Warns Of ‘Dark Times’

Second-to-last ‘Potter’ installment hits theaters November 19. By Kara Warner Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” Photo: Warner Bros. As promised, the latest trailer for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” arrived online Wednesday (September 22), and it is a doozy. Fans who have been following the trajectory of the film’s crafty promotional plan will have a lot to take in after giving it a look-see. Like the TV spots and clips that have been released before it, this trailer opens with an ominous, almost sinister feel. “These are dark times, there is no denying,” Bill Nighy says as Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour, who is shown giving a press conference on the dire state of world affairs. “Harry … tell me where he is,” Voldemort’s (Ralph Fiennes) serpent-like whisper follows, voicing over images of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named creepily gliding into Dumbledore’s tomb, and then a quick cut of Harry standing alone outside a tent on a rocky landscape. “Our world has faced no greater threat than it does today,” Scrimgeour’s voice continues, over shots of Hermione and Ron looking serious and concerned, and then Harry and Hermione are shown visiting his parents’ grave. “But you can’t fight the war on your own, Mr. Potter,” Scrimgeour’s voice continues. “He is too strong.” As the Minister’s words trail off, Harry is shown holding a broken piece of mirror, which shows Dumbledore falling into a dark abyss. The trailer then kicks into high gear, with dramatic music and shots of preparation for various battles, including a very poignant meeting of Voldemort’s Death Eaters, at which the duplicitous Severus Snape is seated. “We have infiltrated the Ministry,” he says. Cut to chaos at the Ministry, with stuffy politicians trying to maintain order (one of whom is forever-pink-clad Dolores Umbridge flashing her characteristic grimace/facade of calm), and then more familiar shots of Harry, Ron and Hermione traveling cross-country on their journey, over rocky hills, in the middle of a bustling London. This is followed by a series of escape-esque shots, including seeing the six Harry clones/look-alikes, which readers of the book will remember is the tool the Order of the Phoenix use in an attempt to safely move the real Harry from one location to the next. Cut to an impressive array of quick action shots: The Death Eaters attacking Bill and Fleur’s wedding! Hagrid trying to whisk Harry away on his motorbike! Everyone running through the forest! A mid-air magic fight with wizards wielding wands while riding Thestrals! There is even the very tense argument between Ron and Harry in the tent that leads to a physical altercation. More battling! Houses destroyed! Harry, Ron and Hermione running! All leading up to Voldemort’s creepy voice-over once more: “I have seen your heart,” he says. “And it is mine,” before sending a menacing flash of lightning into the sky that cleverly forms the film’s title. Cue the all-over-body chills. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” will hit theaters on November 19. What do you think of the trailer?!? ‘American Idol’ Judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez Talk ‘Tough Love’

‘We’re sure going to send some people home with broken hearts,’ Aerosmith frontman insists. By Kara Warner Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images We have been following news on season 10 of “American Idol” before season nine even began. It all started back in January with the shock of Simon Cowell’s departure . Then Ellen DeGeneres was out ! Then Kara DioGuardi ! The rumored new judges piled on from there, with names like Jessica Simpson, Elton John and Justin Timberlake thrown up for consideration. Eventually, that field was narrowed to two: Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler , who were announced as official “Idol” judges during a Fox press conference Wednesday (September 22). One of the many questions asked of the new panelists during the big event was: Will they get in touch with their inner-Simon Cowell and be tough on the contestants? “How tough will I be? I believe in tough love,” Lopez said. “But I don’t think I will ever, as an artist myself, I could never be cruel to another artist,” she added. “I think there are definitely better ways to get your point across. I’ve mentored on the show before, so I think people have seen that and kinda can feel how I’ll be — or maybe they’ll be surprised.” Tyler said he, too, has no plans for outrageous tongue-lashings and will instead be trying to protect himself from getting too attached. “We’re sure going to send some people home with broken hearts,” Tyler admitted. “But with all that we’ve been through in our careers, living vicariously through the young talent out there, it’s going to be hard. But it’s also going to be fun, because they’re stepping up to the plate, and so are we.” Who will be tougher: Lopez or Tyler? Sound off in the comments! Robyn Is ‘Super-Duper Excited’ To Perform At VMAs

Swedish superstar will perform a ‘never-before-heard mix’ of ‘Dancing on My Own’ with VMA house artist Deadmau5. By James Montgomery Robyn Photo: Roger Kisby/ Getty Images Somewhat lost in last week’s announcement that both Usher and Paramore will be performing at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards was the news of who else would be joining the festivities … and no, we’re not talking about the stars of “The Social Network.” It’s Robyn, the Swedish superstar who, slowly but surely, has begun her stateside assault with a pair of highly touted pop albums ( Body Talk Part 1 and Body Talk Part 2, both released this year, with a third installment due in December), a stirring single and video ( “Hang With Me” ), and a string of sweat-drenched, sweet-and-salty live shows . And on VMA night, she’ll take another step towards mainstream success when she performs with house artist Deadmau5 during the big show. She’s just one of the artists who’ll be jamming with Deadmau5 — other confirmed acts include Travie McCoy and Jason Derulo — but she’s certainly the one with the most to prove. After all, to most VMA viewers, she’ll be the wild card, the great unknown. And, as she told MTV News, Robyn is more than honored to be performing … and definitely looking forward to the challenge. “Deadmau5 is fantastic and I’m super-duper excited to be able to perform for the VMA audience,” she said in an email. “I’m gonna be ‘dancing on my own’!” That, of course, is a reference to a (really awesome) single from the first Body Talk album — she’ll be performing “a never-before-heard mix” of it at the VMAs — and though you probably aren’t familiar just yet, we’re willing to bet that after Robyn rocks the show, that will change. Quickly. The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories, including Best New Artist, from now through September 12.
