Stephen Colbert, Herman Cain Stump For Votes in South Carolina

Newt, Schmewt. Mitt, Schmitt. Herman Cain dropped out of the presidential race months ago, but that won’t stop Stephen Colbert from rallying for him in advance of today’s primary. The Comedy Central host hit the campus of the College of Charleston Friday, joined by over 3,000 students, a marching band, cheerleaders, and Cain: Stephen Colbert-Herman Cain Rally Colbert, who toyed with running in the South Carolina GOP primary himself, was waylaid by the technicality of not getting his name on the ballot in time. Cain, who abandoned his bid in the fall after a brief surge to the top of the polls, happens to still be on the ballot, so Colbert threw his support to Cain . A gospel choir sang “This Little Light of Mine” before Colbert delivered an address at the “Rock Me Like a Herman Cain: South Cain-Olina Primary Rally.” “Do not sit down!” Colbert said. “There are no chairs. Partly for budgetary reasons, but mostly because I’ll take a standing ovation any way I can get it.” He zinged the frontrunner as such: “The only difference between Mitt Romney and a statue of Mitt Romney is that the statue never changes in position.” Before introducing Cain, he also zinged Rick Santorum. “A Her Man is not the same as a She Male,” Colbert said, according to reports, adding. “I don’t want to frighten any Rick Santorum supporters.” “I have believed in the message of Herman Cain for several days now. I want you to vote for Herman Cain because Herman Cain is me… and he possesses the one thing I don’t think I possibly will ever have: a place on the South Carolina ballot.” Fight on, Stephen and Herman. Fight on.

South Carolina Republican Debate: Schizo Crowd Cheers Lots of Harsh Sound Bites!

Jon Huntsman may have gotten out just in time. In front of by FAR the most raucous crowd of any Republican debate held thus far, the five remaining GOP hopefuls squared off in South Carolina last night. Ostensibly, everybody not named Mitt Romney angled to knock the frontrunner off his pedestal. In reality, it became a game of rhetorical one-upmanship. South Carolina GOP Debate The crowd cheered their support of U.S. soldiers urinating on dead Afghan bodies and their condemnation of the Obama administration’s condemnation of it. Newt Gingrich earned a standing ovation for this quote: “Andrew Jackson knew what to do with his enemies – he killed them.” How professorial he can be. Even Romney, the most vanilla of all candidates, got into the act, saying “The right thing for Osama bin Laden was the bullet in the head that he received.” No one here’s missing Osama, but really Mitt? The audience then jeered Ron Paul for suggesting that “we should practice the Golden Rule in foreign policy.” Nice to see we boo NOT bombing people. The yelled their approval of Rick Perry saying America should “go to zero on foreign aid.” They booed Juan Williams for questioning Newt’s big janitor idea . The South Carolina primary has a reputation for being a bloodbath, and last night’s rancor showed why. Just imagine if this race were in any way close.

King of Bain Trailer: New Film Slams Mitt Romney

Newt Gingrich, the former House Speaker, is striking a populist tone as he looks to fight back against Mitt Romney, the frontrunner in the Republican nomination fight. In a bid to discredit Romney’s economic expertise – the strength of his candidacy, besides perceived “electability” – Gingrich lambasts him for firing people and ruining lives. In a manner of speaking, of course. Insisting he is “totally for capitalism,” Newt cited Microsoft for becoming “extraordinarily rich” by “providing a service” while firms such as Bain strip companies down for profit. It’s unclear if this will resonate with voters, but a pro-Gingrich PAC, Winning Our Future, produced a movie about Mitt’s tenure at Bain to make its point. Here’s the trailer: Mitt Romney – King of Bain Movie Trailer A deluge of pro-Romney PAC ads have drawn fire from Newt Gingrich in recent weeks. Now it seems the one-time national frontrunner is firing back in kind. Time will tell if this line of attacks pays dividends, but it almost seems better suited to a Democratic National Committee ad, not one from a fellow Republican.

Kris Jenner Dishes on Face Lift, Daughter’s Massive Wedding

A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do! So said Kris Jenner on The Talk yesterday, referring to the face lift that was captured by E! cameras last month. The matriarch of the least talented family on TV said she just wanted to freshen up for her daughter’s wedding, which will NOT cost $10 million, as reported by one tabloid . “You know, if she was going to spend that much money on a wedding, I’d tell her to write me a check and go to Vegas,” Jenner said, seemingly ignoring the fact that Kim is headed to Vegas for her bachelorette party. Jose Baez Shopping Casey Anthony Interview to Networks

Casey Anthony’s lawyer Jose Baez is reportedly at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City, holding meetings with all of the major TV networks. NBC, ABC and CBS are all competing for the first interview with the accused child murderer, and you can bet HUGE dollar amounts are involved. Sources connected with the negotiations say there is a ” big price tag .” The networks don’t technically pay for interviews, however, they can offer to license photos and other material and pay whatever amount Baez asks. NBC, which is paying for Baez’s hotel room, looks like the frontrunner, but ABC is in the game, while CBS “is a distant third” to land the sit-down. Baez spent part of last night in the hotel bar with famed lawyer Mark Geragos, whose clients include or included Michael Jackson, Susan McDougal (Whitewater), Greg Anderson (BALCO), Winona Ryder, Scott Peterson and Chris Brown . Geragos, who is well-versed in high-profile cases and tricky negotiations such as this, reportedly gave Baez some advice in reaching a deal. Whether or not Casey Anthony is back in Florida already, it looks like she’ll only be in hiding – and flat broke – for so long.

Is There Hope for Party Down?

It turns out that Lizzy Caplan wasn’t kidding when she said she’d be loyal to Party Down until the bitter end. CBS is reportedly close to giving the comedy Mad Love a 13-episode pick-up for midseason, without Caplan on board. Caplan was in the original pilot but wouldn’t accept any overtures of commitment from CBS because of Party Down , and now it looks like her role is being recast with — fingers crossed — Judy Greer as the frontrunner. A television landscape with Party Down still airing and Judy Greer on a network show? Yes please. [ Deadline ]

Taylor Swift and Cory Monteith: Supposedly Dating!

Is Taylor Swift torn between two young hunks? We can’t independently validate this report, but that’s the rumor going around. The hot rumor. It all started when she spent the night of March 23 cozying up to Glee cast member Cory Monteith at Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, Calif. Then, the very next day, Swift reunited with former co-star and ex-boyfriend, Eclipse star Taylor Lautner, for lunch. Are both just friends – or potential boyfriends? If it’s the latter, how many heartthrobs does one girl need, and who’s the frontrunner? Despite her namesake being so hot , Cory might have the inside track. The Taylors are “good friends,” an insider tells OK!, while Cory Monteith and Swift are more than that – and have been “happily and quietly dating” for a while! Taylor Swift and Cory Monteith at an event earlier this year. Rumors first swirled that the two were a possible couple in late January, when they were seen at a number of different locales, including a pre-Grammys event. While bowling with Cory and a few other fiends (like best pal Selena Gomez), she was “effervescent,” according to a witness, and didn’t even let gutterballs get her down – whenever she rolled one, she would laugh and hug Cory. Maybe she’s just a good sport about bowling? This isn’t to say Taylor Lautner is no longer in the picture. The two spent hours laughing and talking over lunch with the singer’s mom at The Farm of Beverly Hills. Who will win her heart, Cory or Taylor? Who should Swift date – and do you believe the rumors tying her to Monteith? Weigh in with comments.
