Big Brother Recap: The Surprise Eviction Divides the House

It was the end of the line for one houseguest on Wednesday’s special eviction episode of Big Brother.  The host once again introduced herself as “Julie Chen Moonves,” meaning she’s brushing off all of the controversy she stirred up on Thursday night.  When the episode kicked off, the houseguests looked genuinely blindsided when they were told eviction night was coming one night early.  “One should always expect the unexpected,” said Julie, who was clearly surprised the houseguests were not shocked.  We then got to learn about what happened over the past few days, and Sam was pissed to be put on the block for the fourth time.  “These people don’t want to hurt me,” she says. “They just want the money.” While that made sense, Sam was adamant she wanted to win the “motherf—— veto.” Sam felt safe … for now.  In her mind, Tyler was going to keep her safe until final two, so she felt like JC would be the one heading out the door during the surprise episode.  Kaycee, Angela, and Tyler watched JC from the HOH room, and they could see that he was visibly defeated.  He was alone following Brett’s eviction and feels like he has no fight left in him.  JC used this to his advantage when he chatted with Tyler about being on the block.  “I need to remind you I’m your friend, not your pawn,” JC said, adding: “If you win the veto and you pull me off, [Angela] has to put Kaycee.” But this only further turned Tyler against him because he felt like JC was putting him in an impossible spot.  At the veto competition, Kaycee continued her winning streak, and Tyler continued to worry even after she decided against using the power.  “Dammit, I hate this game sometimes, man,” Tyler said to viewers. “I gotta do what I gotta do to win, but that means I have to backstab some of the best people.” At the eviction, Sam was sent packing with a vote of 2-0, and she was surprised.  Upon exiting, she stayed classy and asked someone to deal with her belongings. In her chat with Julie, she never threw anyone under the bus, but she looked mad as hell.  Kaycee, Tyler, and JC competed in the “What The Bleep?” competition and it played out as follows: Round 1: JC & Tyler get a point  Round 2: JC gets a point  Round 3: No one gets a point Round 4: Everyone gets a point Round 5: Everyone gets a point Round 6: JC & Tyler get a point  Round 7: JC & Tyler get a point Oh yes, JC actually won a competition! Given that Tyler has been the one not keeping his word, it would make sense for him to be the target.  However, there’s still a veto to play. Will Kaycee win ANOTHER veto?  Who will go home?  We don’t have long to wait to find out because another episode airs tonight at 9/8c on CBS.  View Slideshow: Big Brother: Meet the Most Controversial Houseguests

Mystery Doorbell Ringer Comes Forward, Shares Chilling Survival Story

This woman's terrifying story gripped the nation before anyone knew her name or heard her reveal what had happened to her. America first saw her as a nameless woman who, while wearing restraints and a large tee shirt, rang a neighbor's doorbell late at night. Her name is Lauren, and her story is every bit as chilling as people feared. Lauren is 32 years old. She says that one night, she awoke to her 49-year-old boyfriend, Dennis Ray Collins, kneeling on her chest. He was stuffing some sort of fabric into her mouth. Her feet and ankles were bound by restraints, and she had duct tape on her head. She reveals that, at the time, she fully believed that she was going to die. She says that she tried to cling to hope during the sexual assault that followed. Lauren says: “I just kept repeating in my head ‘God has more for me than this, I’m not gonna die here tonight,'” She had been living with Collins for 4 months at the time of the rape. She says that afterwards, he allowed her to go to the kitchen to get some water — because her throat hurt from screaming. This, she reveals, is when she saw her chance to escape — and took it. We can never imagine how much bravery it took her to make that dash for the door and leave. As natural as the instinct to flee is, there is also a powerful instinct in many people to cooperate with a threat in the hopes of survival. Neither instinct is always right, but Lauren made the right choice. She says that she flagged down a car, asking the driver to help her — but that the driver took one look at her and sped away. It was then that Lauren was famously recorded ringing a doorbell. She rang several doorbells. Lauren explains that she was in fear for her life, but convinced that if someone saw her and made eye contact with her, that she woudl be safe. In the end, Lauren was able to go back for her car to drive away. It was 3 in the morning, and her chances of getting someone to answer the door were slim. Again, we cannot imagine how much courage it took for her to return to the one place where she knew that Collins might be. Lauren drove to safety while the homeowner's whose doorbell caught Lauren on video contacted law enforcement, fearing for this mystery woman's life. It was five days after the video surfaced that Collins committed suicide. In his suicide note, he apologized to Lauren — which, obviously, doesn't mean much, considering what he had done to her — and swears that he had not planned to kill her. “I never would have killed you like you thought,” Collins claimed. “I’m sorry for what I’ve done and I wish I could turn back time.” He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Lauren is grappling with powerful emotions in the aftermath of this trauma. She even feels a misplaced sense of guilt over Collins' death. But, speaking to Inside Edition, she admits that she believe that he would have taken her life. “I worry if this video didn’t come out,” Lauren admits. “And if he were not gone — then I eventually would be.”

Julie Chen: Will She Leave Big Brother, Too?

At this point, Julie Chen is as synonymous with Big Brother as racism, homophobia and stunning evictions. And yet fans of this long-running reality show are now refreshing their browsers every other minute in order to learn the answer to the following question: Is Chen about to say goodbye as host? Questions about Chen’s future on CBS in general are understandably prominent at the moment, considering she just left The Talk . The veteran panelist did so amidst a sexual misconduct scandal surrounding husband Les Moonves, who just lost his job as CBS President due to allegations that he forced himself upon multiple women a couple decades ago. In a video message that aired on Tuesday’s edition of The Talk ( is that not the dumbest name ever for a program?!? ), Chen told viewers that she simply needs to be around her family as much as possible these days. “Right now, I need to spend more time at home with my husband and young son,” she said rather simply. We wonder if the intense criticism that came Chen’s way last week also played a role in this decision. Upon signing off from Big Brother a few days ago, Chen showed obvious support for Moonves by attaching his last name to hers for the first time ever on air. Social media blew up over this move. Is it shocking that Chen is standing by her man? Not really. But many viewers were still aghast over such a public display because Moonves is accused of some pretty heinous stuff . And he hasn’t exactly denied it, either . View Slideshow: Julie Chen Shows Subtle Support for Husband, Gets Destroyed on Twitter So, this all brings us back to Big Brother. Chen is expected to stay on as host through the Season 20 finale on September 26. According to Us Weekly, no decision has been made beyond this episode, with various network executives thinking it’s best if she just goes away. They figure the less association CBS has overall with Moonves or anyone in his family, the better. If Chen does leave – and this remains a big IF – season 2 winner Dr. Will Kirby would reportedly be under consideration as her replacement. The same can be said, according to this tabloid’s sources, of Celebrity Big Brother runner-up Ross Mathews and Big Brother Canada host Arisa Cox. TMZ, meanwhile, claims that Chen wants to return to Big Brother and that the current plan is for her to do so… … IF Big Brother is renewed, that is. Forget Chen’s future on the show, this website writes . The future of the actual show is in question. So that’s where things stand at the moment. Many unanswered questions are out there. Would YOU want to see Chen return as host? And would YOU want to see Big Brother return for Season 21?

Wendy Williams to Justin Bieber: Hailey Baldwin’s Too Young For You, Bro!

Wendy Williams has a long history of saying the worst possible thing in every imaginable scenario. But amazingly, she might find that a large segment of the celeb-obsessed population is in total agreement with her latest hot take. As you’ve likely heard by now, Justin Bieber married Hailey Baldwin in a small private ceremony in New York City last week. Justin is 24 and Hailey is 21, which for most of the 20th century was about the age at which people got married. But these days, that’s considered to be rather young for such a consequential decision, particularly as the divorce rate in this country creeps ever closer to 150 percent. Throw in fame, an extremely short engagement and a massive wealth discrepancy, and the likelihood of Justin and Hailey waltzing to “One Less Lonely Girl” at their 75th anniversary begins to look rather minuscule. Ever the Debbie Downer, Wendy was quick to pour cold water on this happy young couple’s hopes and dreams by pointing out that the odds are very much against Justin and Hailey. “They’ve been on and off allegedly for years, but I don’t care what your background is, these days, 21 is too young to be getting married,” Williams said on a recent episode of her show. “I know she’s a model, but she’s not one of the biggies. The biggest thing that’s happened to her is that she’s with Bieber,” Wendy added. “The biggest thing that’s happened to this family in a long time is that they’re attached to Bieber, who’s attached to 250 million dollars. “I just feel like 21 is too young to be getting married, and he’s only 24, and that’s still too young in this particular day and time,” the daytime host continued. Williams went on to slam Hailey’s father, Stephen Baldwin, for his alleged eagerness to hop aboard the Bieber gravy train. “Shame on you Stephen Baldwin for co-signing on your 21-year-old daughter getting married,” she said. “I think the Baldwins look at Bieber as a cash cow… I think Stephen Baldwin likes to be more relevant again to young people in pop culture and Bieber is a quick way to do that,” Williams added. As though her pessimism wasn’t abundantly apparent already, Williams went on to add: “I don’t believe that this is a marriage that will last.” We’re torn on this one, as Stephen Baldwin is a known sketch-ball, and he probably is thinking about how his daughter’s relationship will affect his career. But on the other hand, Wendy Williams is the absolute worst , and it sucks that she’s going to such great lengths to rain on this young couple’s parade. So now we all have one more reason to root for Justin and Hailey — if they last, it’ll royally piss off daytime’s queen of mean. View Slideshow: Justin Bieber: All His Sexual Conquests, RANKED!

Julie Chen: I’m Quitting The Talk Forever!

After her husband was ousted from CBS following allegations of years of sexual misconduct, Julie Chen addressed the scandal on The Talk . It did not go over well. She then took a “break” from the show, but it now looks like her hiatus will be permanent. Julie Chen has now announced that she is quitting The Talk  for good. Multiple sources confirm to CNN that Julie Chen is leaving The Talk permanently — that she is quitting the show. She has been absent from the talk show since last week, stepping back and signing off as Julie Chen Moonves in a display of support for her disgraced husband, Les Moonves. From what a source tells CNN, Julie isn’t representing this as a retirement — she has other activities in mind. “She has decided that her main focus needs to be clearing her husband’s name from accusations made 25-30 years ago,” the insider tells CNN. So she will be allegedly doing that “And tending to her son.” On Tuesday, September 18, Julie officially confirmed that she is leaving, via a taped message that aired on The Talk . “I need to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son,” she claimed in the message. “So I’ve decided to leave ‘The Talk.'” Getting emotional, Julie added: “I have been at ‘The Talk’ since the day it started nine years ago, and the cast crew and staff have become family to me over the years.” “I will always, always cherish the memories we shared,” Julie announced. “Most important, I want to thank you, the viewers,” Julie said. “For allowing me into your home every day. It was a privilege that I will forever be grateful for.” Reports say that Julie will continue to host Big Brother through the rest of the season. But considering that this season ends next week, that does not say much about her planned future at CBS. It may be that she plans to quit in protest or in solidarity with her husband, Les Moonves. it is also possible that she is concerned that she will no longer enjoy her former status as the network — and that she has already grown to dislike the stigma of her association with her husband. Her husband is certainly wealthy enough that the two of them can live in almost comical luxury, and he may receive $120 million in a severance package. Though many fans will be sad to see Julie leave The Talk, others have soured on her in recent weeks. Obviously, she is not to blame for her husband’s alleged sexual misconduct . Guilt by association is almost always unfair. But in defending Les Moonves and affirming that she supports him, Julie picked a side.  That resulted in her getting absolutely demolished on Twitter. Whether she’s doing it as a true believer or because she wants to cling to her husband’s hefty bank account, a lot of The Talk viewers are less than enamored with Julie these days. As for the statement that Julie will be trying to defend Les’ name … we’re not sure what to make of that. She’s not, like, the world’s greatest detective, and we don’t mean that as an insult. Let’s imagine that Les Moonves is totally innocent of sexual misconduct and also never set out to personally ruin various women’s careers for no conveivable reason beyond capriciousness and spite. How exactly is Julie going to prove that he’s been framed for this? And how does quitting The Talk free her up to make her case? Many fans believe that Julie is just using this as an excuse to step back from the camera because she is embarrassed. Julie certainly seems to be either embarrassed or not interested in hearing anyone else’s opinion. She has turned off Instagram comments — on posts going back for months . We understand that the topic is upsetting, but if she wishes to continue to enjoy the privileges of being a public figure, she may want to accept that people who don’t personally work for her are going to have thoughts about her husband. If she decides to fade from public life along with her husband, well, people may give her a break eventually. But it’s harder to imagine fans being so forgiving if she really does try to set about proving that her husband is innocent. Wow: School Superintendent Said “You Can’t Count On A Black Quarterback” When Referring To This Athlete

He *Mistakingly* Spills His Thoughts On The Internet A Texas superintendent for the Onalaska Independent School District let the world know how he really feels about Black quarterbacks and now he’s trying to backpedal. According to Chron.com,   Lynn Redden — who oversees the Onalaska school district almost 100 miles north of Houston — commented on a Facebook post promoting a Chron.com article about the Houston Texans’ recent game loss. He blamed the Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson for the loss. In the last play of the game, Watson held onto the ball as the final seconds counted down on the clock. He completed a pass to receiver DeAndre Hopkins, hoping he could make a last-second, game-tying field goal, but time had run out by then. In response, Redden commented on the Chron.com post saying, “That may have been the most inept quarterback decision I’ve seen in the NFL. When you need precision decision making you can’t count on a black quarterback.” Oh really? Redden thought he was responding to a private message from a friend when he posted his comment, but nope. It was right in the comment section of the Chron.com post. Redden said he deleted his comment when he realized it wasn’t a direct message. “I totally regret it,” he told Chron.com. But it was too late. A Spring resident, Matt Ericksen, sent Chron.com screenshots of the post on Monday morning. Ericksen said he didn’t have kids in the district, but he wanted to bring attention to what he thought was a blatantly racist comment. “It’s important to make sure horrible words are met with consequences, especially for those in powerful positions with influence,” Ericksen said. Despite all this, Redden still seemed to get away with his anti-Black comments. He told Chron.com that he hasn’t faced any consequences so far, as of Monday afternoon. He said he understands how folks might’ve interpreted his post as racist, but he didn’t intend for it to come off that way. Mhm. Redden said he was referring to statistics when he made the comment about Black quarterbacks. “Over the history of the NFL, they have had limited success,” he said. According to The Washington Post , a 2017 study by University of Colorado researchers show that unconscious racial biases influence views on quarterbacks. There have been two Black quarterbacks who’ve led their team to the Super Bowl, with Russell Wilson being the last one in 2013. According to the University of Colorado study, Black quarterbacks are seen as “talented and strong and their white counterparts as smart and hard-working.” So yea, your regular old racist thinking. Redden says he hopes none of the students in his school district saw his post. “I wish it had never been posted,” he said.
