Exclusive: The-Dream Didn’t Send Gwyneth Paltrow’s Paris Tweet

‘I was moreso trying to take the heat for a friend,’ The-Dream tells MTV News. By Rob Markman The-Dream Photo: MTV News Turns out it wasn’t The-Dream who sent the now-infamous “N—as in Paris” tweet from Gwyneth Paltrow ‘s phone, but the Love King still insists that his buddy did nothing wrong. “Well, we were there, of course. We were Patron’d out of our minds, number one. Number two, I was moreso trying to take the heat for a friend because I knew that the reaction was going to be silly,” The-Dream admitted to MTV News on the carpet for Vitamin Water’s Fader concert series in Hollywood on Thursday night. “I know what she meant; I know what she didn’t mean.” Last weekend, while onstage at the Throne’s much-ballyhooed Paris concert , Paltrow tweeted a pic of herself with a few friends and captioned it: “Ni**as in Paris for real @mrteriousnash (the dream) tyty, beehigh.” The tweet caused much controversy, sparking a debate over who should and shouldn’t be allowed to use the N-word. The-Dream says he knows that the actress didn’t mean for the tweet to be derogatory and also suggests that the issue isn’t so black-and-white. “We created a song and titled it like that. It’s one of the biggest songs out, especially [since] Jay and Kanye are two of the biggest rap figures,” he began to explain. “It’s like a catch-22, it’s like a trick, like ‘Yeah we’re gonna say it and we’re gonna sell it to you, but you can’t really use it and you can’t say it.” After Paltrow came under fire, the “Shawty Is a 10” singer came to her rescue and took the blame, claiming that he was the one who sent the message from Gwyn’s phone. Now he admits it was all just a cover-up. “I knew it was going to be silly from the beginning, so I just tried to jump to her defense,” he said to MTV News. “Unfortunately, people were bothered and I understand it to a degree, but you have to still understand that we give the word its own power.” The magnitude of Hov and Yeezy’s historic concert isn’t lost on The-Dream. He hopes that by performing “N—as in Paris” multiple times in Paris, the Throne can eventually change the complexion of the city. “If you know the culture there, then you know it’s not really bound to blacks in that type of a way. It’s soft and gloomy, but it’s not us,” he says of Paris. “So I understand the title of the song, I know what the movement is, and I extremely was touched after they performed in Paris 11 times because I know that’s going to affect the culture 10 years from now.” Was The-Dream justified in defending Gwyneth Paltrow? Sneeze Fetishists Want to Know: Is Contagion the Sexy Kind of Epidemic?

You’d think that with a cast stacked with classy, ass-y stars like Kate Winslet and Gwyneth Paltrow , the sneeze fetish community (and yes there is one, there’s a fetish for everything ) would be all over Contagion like a sneeze on a salad bar. After all, Marion Cotillard plays an expert in the forensics of sneezing- that’s like fantasy made hot French flesh right there. But as it turns out, the sneeze fetish is not all-encompassing. While some are “too shy” to see it in the theater for fear of pitching a trouser tent, others say sneezes aren’t sexy when someone, you know, dies as a result, with one user on the Sneeze Fetish Forum saying ” the whole epidemic/pandemic element takes absolutely all of the appeal out sneezes and illness for me . ” Another user is cynical about Contagion for an entirely different reason: “ Knowing Hollywood, they will still find a way to cut all the sneezes out of this movie, ” he writes. We hear you man, the MPAA is nothing but problems for us regular ol’ booby-lovers too. Perverts of the world unite! Mr. Skin lives to please, so go check out Natasha Pavlovich having a topless sneezing fit on Dream On , sneeze fetishists- and everyone can appreciate Marion Cotillard , Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet nude, right here on MrSkin.com!

Jay-Z And Gwyneth Paltrow Swap Interviews

Pair posts Q&As with one another on their respective websites. By Alvin Blanco Jay-Z and Gwyneth Paltrow Photo: Dave M. Benett/ Getty Images Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Grammy-winning rapper Jay-Z come from different worlds, but that didn’t stop them from the becoming BFFs. The pair have performed together — as have Jay-Z and Gwyneth’s husband, Chris Martin — in the past. And on Tuesday (April 12), the two buddies traded questions with one another on their respective websites. Hova interviewed Paltrow on his recently debuted lifestyle site Life + Times ( LifeandTimes.com ), and Paltrow interviewed Hova for the GOOP.com online newsletter she launched in 2008. The Q&A on Jay-Z’s site is titled “Straight Outta Compton?” It turns out the actress with the singing chops got turned on to N.W.A. in Los Angeles while she was still in high school. “I first was exposed to hip-hop when I was about 16 (1988) by some boys who went to college,” Paltrow said. “The Beastie Boys were sort of the way in for us preppie kids. We were into Public Enemy, Run-DMC and LL Cool J. But then I went to L.A. the summer between my junior and senior years of high school and I discovered N.W.A., which became my obsession. I was fascinated by lyrics as rhythm and how Dre had a such different cadence and perspective from say, Eazy-E, who I thought was one of the most ironic and brilliant voices hip-hop has ever had.” While Jay-Z’s line of questions aimed to discover the root of Paltrow’s musical tastes and affection for hip-hop music (she prefers the Notorious B.I.G. over Tupac Shakur), the actress’ inquiries for the rapper focused on his new website and his personal inspirations (Jean-Michel Basquiat, Muhammad Ali and Mario Batali among them). But any sense of journalistic impartiality went out the window with her last question: “You are the coolest man on Earth, how the f did you get like that?” To this Hov answered, “I’m around great women, starting with my mom. Women keep men cool. The hotter the chick, the cooler the guy … that sounds like a really bad rap line!” Related Artists Jay-Z

Help Movieline Caption This Picture of Glee’s Kevin McHale ‘Pimphanding’ Gwyneth Paltrow

And so with the immortal words, ” TWITTER – PRE PIMPHANDED GWYNETH PALTROW win,” Glee ‘s Kevin McHale ascended to the heights of slushie-proof popularity by posing in the hallways of McKinley High, prepared to do violence unto Gwyneth “Forget You” Paltrow as a horrified Heather Morris looked on in shock holding something resembling a fruit cup. Somehow we don’t think McHale anticipated the unabashed glee (zing!) the world might get from the idea of slapping Oscar singing sensation Paltrow in the face, and here at Movieline we wouldn’t condone violence to anyone, regardless of their relentless warblings on television shows , the CMA s, the Grammys , and the Academy Awards , but there you have it. Caption it after the jump!

Randy Newman nabs Best Original Song for ‘We Belong Together’ from ‘Toy Story 3.’ By Aly Semigran Gwyneth Paltrow performs at the 2011 Oscars on Sunday Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Sunday night (February 27) marked the 83rd annual Academy Awards, but there were some moments when the ceremony was more reminiscent of a Grammy stage. Gwyneth Paltrow, who has gone from Oscar-winning actress to singing awards-show mainstay — having performed “Forget You” alongside Cee Lo Green and puppets at the Grammys — was one of the featured performers in the Best Original Song category. Paltrow, who joked to MTV News on the red carpet that she’d calmed her pre-Oscar nerves with a beer, called the ceremony “so, like, freaking serious” as compared to her previous stints on both the Grammys and the Country Music Awards. After being introduced by Jennifer Hudson, a calmer Paltrow (who Hudson described as “a singing sensation and country music’s new star”) donning a sleek, off-the-shoulder nude and bejeweled gown, sang some of “Coming Home” for the Kodak Theater and millions of Oscar viewers around the globe. With a starry stage set-up behind her, Paltrow crooned the chorus, “After all of my running/ I’m finally coming home/ The world tried to break me/ I found a road to take me home.” But Paltrow wasn’t the only familiar face to appear as a performer during the ceremony. Fellow singer/actress Mandy Moore, wearing a flowing blue gown, sang the nominated “I See the Light” from her hit animated film “Tangled” alongside her co-star Zachary Levi, with Alan Menken accompanying them on piano. Later in the telecast, Florence Welch, frontwoman for 2010 breakout act Florence and the Machine, helped Oscar winner A.R. Rahman perform “If I Rise” from “127 Hours” while images from the Best Picture nominee appeared in the background. Welch, who wore a striking burnt-sienna gown, showcased her beautiful, moody voice as she stepped in for Dido (who co-wrote the song, as well as sang on the film’s original track). However, those were the only moments those songs and their performers had any Oscar glory on Sunday, as perennial nominee Randy Newman walked away the winner in the Best Original Song category. Newman, who had performed “We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3” at the piano on the Oscar stage, won his second career Academy Award, besting the songs from “Country Strong,” “Tangled” and “127 Hours.” Stick with MTV News on Oscar night and beyond for red-carpet fashion coverage, analysis of the winners, plus interviews, photos and more from your favorite Hollywood stars!
