Robert Downey Jr. Doesn’t Need Iron Man Suit to Play Superhero

Robert Downey Jr. for all the wins, people! Via a back-and-forth with a woman on Instagram, the actor has proven that he doesn’t need to dress as Iron Man in order to be a superhero. Last week, Vicky Keyte (“envy_coatings” on Instagram) tagged Downey in a social media post, explaining that her seven-year old son, Daniel, is a huge Iron Man fan. He sadly suffers from cystic fibrosis and he was tragically the target of a bully prior to Keyte writing her message. It reads: Daniel could really do with a little lift at the moment after a child at school has told him that all children with [cystic fibrosis] die. If this reaches him and Daniel could get a reply I hope that it could help him through his stay in hospital as it is starting to take its toll on him. A very sweet gesture by Vicky, but no way would Downey actually write back… right? WRONG! While dressed as Tigger, the beloved actor responded directly to this request, penning the following response on Instagram: Mr. Stark here. This is for Daniel … who was having a rough day recently. When I’m in the dumps, I’ve found this little getup to be helpful. P.S. Would you like to come to the L.A. premiere of ‘Captain America: Civil War’ as my guest? If so, have your people call my people. All the best. Vicky, an admitted “blubbering wreck” upon reading Downey’s message, proceeded to reply to this invite with every ounce of excitement she could muster: We physically can not believe it and can’t ever imagine a way to thank everyone enough. Thank you everyone. This is by far the best wake-up call ever when I found Robert’s reply. We love it. And we want to ask something of Piers Morgan: Do you still think Downey is a Prima Donna ?

But Who Asked You?! Piers Morgan Gets Slammed For Saying That Black People Should ‘Kill The N-Word’

Why…did… HE …write…this??? Because we all care what Piers Morgan (of all people) thinks about black people’s use of the word… Via The Daily Mail: N****r. A 6-letter noun in the English language which the dictionary defines as ‘a contemptuous term for a black or dark-skinned person’. It’s such an inflammatory and offensive word that for any high profile white person to publicly use it, without abbreviating to ‘N-word’, is rightly tantamount to professional suicide and personal opprobrium. I don’t use it; would never use it. But it has become astonishingly ubiquitous in modern American society. The reason it is so ingrained in pop culture is that many blacks, especially young blacks reared to the soundtrack of N-word splattered rap music, use it in an ironic way. They’re aware of its history; they know from their parents and grandparents that arrogant, dumb, racist whites used it as a wicked, derogatory insult against their black slave forebears. And they enjoy the freedom of being able to say it now in the knowledge that it’s become taboo for whites to do so. I understand this, and empathise. Far from ‘owning’ these words, seizing back control with the use of them, I believe it merely serves to empower those who wish to deploy them abusively – and encourage them to continue doing so. Your average dim-witted, foul-mouthed bigot – and there are plenty of them as Twitter can attest – thinks: ‘If they use it, why can’t I?’ They hear African-Americans say the N-word to each other and claim victory: ‘See, that’s what they even call themselves!’ It’s the twisted, horrible mind-set of the wretchedly ignorant. The N-word is a grotesque, odious, evil stain on the English language. It symbolises everything multi-cultural America has fought so hard to move on from – white-run, imperialist, violent, sexually malevolent barbarism. Yet far from receding in society, it’s spreading; out of the once clearly defined confines of private usage in the black community, into the public hallways of every school in America. Better, surely, to have it expunged completely. Eradicated, obliterated, tied to a literary post and whipped into such brutal submission that it never rears its vicious head again. Teach the youth of today the N-word is so heinous that even to repeat it ironically is to perpetuate its poison. As a white man, I have no right to demand that any black person gives up using the N-word. But as someone who believes passionately in civil rights, I just think it’s the right thing to do. Sooooo if we want racism to die does that mean we have to “kill it” too or nah??? Needless to say Twitter is none too pleased with Piers little click bait essay & they’re currently ripping into him…. “you know who I bet has a hot take on the whole n-word thing? *piers morgan* that’s who.” — somebody last week at the daily mail — Matt Fraction (@mattfraction) November 10, 2014 thanks @piersmorgan now I’M NOT SAYING N-WORD NO MO’ I’M DELIVIT *praise dances down the aisle* — David D. (@DavidDTSS) November 10, 2014 and Piers is responding. Is it what I wrote that offended, #BlackTwitter – or the skin colour of the man who wrote it? #NWord — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) November 10, 2014 Trying to work out how my plea for everyone to stop using the N-word apparently makes me a racist. — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) November 10, 2014 SMH… What do YOU think about what Piers said??? Hit the flip for more reactions???

Amal Alamuddin: Engaged to George Clooney?!?

Has the world’s most eligible bachelor finally been locked down? There’s chatter around the Internet that George Clooney is engaged to Amal Alamuddin. He allegedly popped life’s biggest question while on vacation with the British lawyer in Cabo San Lucas. The news has not been confirmed by either party, but an onlooker at Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood tells Us Weekly the couple was “toasting the engagement” on the night of April 23. “This is the healthiest relationship I’ve ever seen George in,” a source recently told the tabloid. “He seems incredibly happy, and Amal is such a sweet and intelligent girl, who has her own thoughts and ideas and doesn’t just bow down to everything he says.” Clooney and Alamuddin were first spotted out together in October in London. They also took a trip to South Africa in March and were photographed there on the beach. Clooney was married to actress Talia Balsam in 1989 before divorcing in 1993. He has since been involved in a NUMBER of high-profile, gorgeous relationships with the likes of Elisabetta Canalis and Stacy Keibler. But he’s never been interested in settling down for good. “I was married, so I gave it a shot,” Clooney told Piers Morgan in 2011, adding that the divorce should have “proven how good I was at it.” But, hey, all it takes is one woman to change one’s mind.

DeSean Jackson Released By Eagles; Alleged Gang Ties to Blame

In jarring NFL news, the Philadelphia Eagles released star wide receiver DeSean Jackson Friday, despite the 27-year-old turning in a career-best 2013 season. The Eagles decided not to bring him back in 2014 not for financial or football reasons, but because of his alleged ties to gang members in Southern California. DeSean Jackson Released By Eagles Over Gang Ties The team’s announcement came shortly after NJ.com published a report by Eliot Shorr-Parks and A.J. Perez that outlined the alleged connections of the NFL star. According to the bombshell article, DeSean Jackson has ties to gang members in Los Angeles who have been connected to at least two homicides since 2010. Citing unnamed sources, it reported that the Eagles were more concerned with Jackson’s off-field relationships and behavior than with his on-field performance. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles were aware of the alleged relationships in the report and opted to release Jackson rather than pursue a trade. According to Schefter, “it got to the point where the Eagles knew not only about the revelations in that story, but they knew other information as well.” “The Eagles, in their good conscience, could not fathom the idea of trading DeSean Jackson knowing he has some of the issues he does right now.” The team Tweeted, “After careful consideration this offseason, Eagles decide to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today.” That’s it. Eagles center Jason Kelce responded to the news: “We just made an extremely unpopular decision, but I couldn’t be more excited and happy with where this organization is going!! #FlyEaglesFly” Former NFL wide receiver Donte Stallworth felt the move was indicative of the NFL’s increased weariness of players’ off-field behavior and relationships. In the wake of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez being charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd , teams are reevaluating rosters. He writes: “It is what it is, dude. I know how much you loved Philly, but on to the next chapter homie! Keep grinding, use it as fuel! @DeseanJackson10” “But… the situation surrounding Aaron Hernandez has changed things. If teams THINK you’re affiliated, then you’re already guilty.” UPDATE : Jackson has responded with his own statement … “First I would like to thank the Eagles organization, the Eagles fans and the city of Philadelphia for my time in Philly. I would also like to thank coach Andy Reed for bringing me in. Secondly, I would like to address the misleading and unfounded reports that my release has anything to do with any affiliation that has been speculated surrounding the company I keep off of the field. I would like to make it very clear that I am not and never have been part of any gang. I am not a gang member and to speculate and assume that I am involved in such activity off the field is reckless and irresponsible. I work very hard on and off the field and I am a good person with good values. I am proud of the accomplishments that I have made both on and off the field. I have worked tirelessly to give back to my community and have a positive impact on those in need. It is unfortunate that I now have to defend myself and my intentions. These reports are irresponsible and just not true . I look forward to working hard for my new team. God Bless.”

Piers Morgan Signs Off from CNN, Makes Final Gun Control Plea

Piers Morgan concluded his final broadcast of Piers Morgan Live on Friday by addressing a topic that has become synonymous with this British TV personality: Gun control. The anchor famously went off on a pro-gun panel after a Naval Yard shooting in September. And, even more famously following the tragedy in Newtown in December 2012, asked ” how many more kids have to die ?” before America adopts similar gun laws to those of other first world nations. Here’s a look at what Morgan had to say to wrap up his show last night: Piers Morgan Gun Control Plea And for those who are more visual, here is a transcript of the highlights: I assumed that after 70 people were shot in a movie theater, and then, just a few months later, 20 first-graders were murdered with an assault rifle in an elementary school, the absurd gun laws in this country would change. But nothing has happened. The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly, supine silence. Even when 20 young children are blown away in their classrooms. This is a shameful situation that has made me very angry. So angry, in fact, that some people have criticized me for being too loud, opinionated, even rude when I have debated the issue of guns. But I make no apologies for that. As Sir Winston Churchill said: ‘If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time – a tremendous whack.’ My point is simple: More guns doesn’t mean less crime, as the NRA repeatedly says. It means more gun violence, death and profits for the gun manufacturers. And to those who claim my gun control campaigning has been “anti-American,” the reverse is true. I am so pro-American that I want more of you to stay alive. But I’ve made my point. I’ve given it a tremendous whack. Now it’s down to you. It’s your country; these are your gun laws. And the senseless slaughter will only end when enough Americans stand together and cry: Enough! Do you agree with Morgan? Disagree? Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore Divorce: Settled, Spousal-Support Free

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have settled their divorce at last, and she will not getting any spousal support from her soon-to-be-ex, which she initially sought. The couple separated back in 2011, but Moore has been trying to get spousal support in the divorce on grounds that Kutcher cheated on her while married.  California is a no fault state, however, which means what it sounds like. It doesn’t matter why a couple splits for purposes of how the finances are divided. The couple basically split what they acquired during their marriage, which began in 2005, and sources say both parties are satisfied with the resolution. Ashton, who just started his gig on Two and a Half Men when they separated, is now the highest-paid actor on TV . Demi does not get half of those earnings. Yes, Ashton really is the highest-paid actor on TV. For 2.5 Men . The actress also felt Ashton was hiding some of his tech businesses/investments from her, which caused some animosity, but all’s well that ends well. Especially when you move on and start dating Mila Kunis .

Dr. Sanjay Gupta Changes Position on Marijuana, Apologizes For "Misleading" Public

CNN medical expert Dr. Sanjay Gupta announced last night that he has reversed his blanket opposition to marijuana use, saying he once misled the public. Gupta, whose documentary on weed airs on Sunday, issued a 180 on Piers Morgan Tonight and in an op-ed called “Why I Changed My Mind On Weed.” Sanjay Gupta Apologizes For Misleading Weed Stance “I have apologized for some of the earlier reporting because I think, you know, we’ve been terribly and systematically misled in this country for some time,” he said. “And I did part of that misleading.” He said that while he formerly derided medical marijuana supporters, he has since done research that had shown him how beneficial it could be: “I mistakenly believed the Drug Enforcement Agency listed marijuana as a schedule 1 substance because of sound scientific proof,” he writes. “Surely, they have quality reasoning as to why marijuana is in the category of the most dangerous drugs that have ‘no accepted medicinal use and a high potential for abuse.'” “They didn’t have science to support that claim, and I now know that when it comes to marijuana neither of those things are true.” “It doesn’t have a high potential for abuse, and there are very legitimate medical applications. In fact, sometimes marijuana is the only thing that works.” What do you think, THGers? Comment/vote below: Should marijuana be legalized?   Yes No Maybe View Poll »

Lindsay Lohan Advised: Continue Treatment or Face "Certain Failure"

Lindsay Lohan is out of rehab , having just wrapped up her latest 90-day, court-ordered stint in which she split time between two California facilities. But the hard part has just begun, a judge warned. The judge who sent her into rehab for violating probation by lying to cops ordered her to attend therapy three times a week for the next 16 months. He made the decision hours after she left rehab. In a letter to the judge, Cliffside Malibu confirmed that Lindsay Lohan had “successfully completed her court-ordered course of treatment at the center.” However, it is “critical” she continue treatment. The facility says without three, 50-minute sessions per week required by the court (with attendance verified), she is “set up for almost certain failure.” Cliffside Malibu’s founder suggests the sessions “should be done face to face while she is in town, and via Skype or phone if she is out of town.” Lindsay Lohan has been in rehab at least six times and told Piers Morgan as recently as May that she felt it was all a big joke and waste of time. “Constantly sending me to rehab is pointless,” she claimed. “The first few times I was court-ordered to rehab it was like a joke, like killing time.” Cliffside says she didn’t treat it like one while she was there, though, reiterating, “We couldn’t be happier with the progress Ms. Lohan has made.” What LiLo does next is on her, and reports that she’s making a ” cut list ” of people to remove from her social circles is clearly a great first step. It’s hard to get any worse than it’s gotten in the last five years, right? What do you think, THGers? Can Lindsay Lohan stay clean?   Yes, she’s totally learned her lesson by now! No, she’s in denial, spineless, weak and surrounded by enablers! View Poll »

For Discussion: Zimmerman’s Attorney Says Trayvon Piff-Puffin’ On That Sticky Icky Made Him More Aggressive…Do You Agree?

Poor Trayvon he is being slandered even in death. Zimmerman’s Attorney Says Trayvon’s Drug Use Led To Aggression According to Raw Story The attorney for Florida murder suspect George Zimmerman says that even a small level of sticky icky in the bloodstream could increase violent behavior. CNN host Piers Morgan on Monday night asked Zimmerman attorney Mark O’Mara why it was important that Trayvon Martin had a small amount of drugs in his system during the fatal confrontation last year. Judge Debra Nelson has ruled that the jury can see toxicology results showing THC in Martin’s system. “Any level of sticky icky in his system could have some effect,” O’Mara said. “And of course that falls in line with what Zimmerman stated in his first couple of moments with the non-emergency operator when he said that it looks like he’s on drugs or something.” Morgan, however, was skeptical that a small amount of mean green had any importance. “Well, actually, there are some studies out there — particularly with young males — that suggest that even low levels of sticky icky use can lead to aggression,” O’Mara responded. “So, the question is not how much, but if in fact there has been some effect and if that effect was noticed by George Zimmerman then I think it is relevant. After all, if we’re going to talk about what George Zimmerman may have read in coursework two, three, four years ago then I think what Trayvon Martin had smoked or had in his system somewhere between two and four hours before the event is certainly something the jury should consider.” We hope the defense doesn’t steal this case.

George Zimmerman’s Brother Apologizes For Comparing Trayvon Martin To Teen Who Shot Baby In The Face And Labeling Black People As “Risky”

Too little, too late sucka! Robert Zimmerman Apologizes For Trayvon Martin Tweets Via HuffPo reports: Earlier this week, George Zimmerman’s brother, Robert Zimmerman ruffled feathers with racially charged tweets that compared Trayvon Martin to an alleged killer. But on Wednesday, the neighborhood watch volunteer’s brother sat down with CNN’s Piers Morgan to apologize for the tweets. Zimmerman originally walked back his comments on Twitter: However, he didn’t completely recant his tweet during his appearance on the show. “I don’t think Twitter is the place to make points about what you recall a year ago, because the recollections that I have, or that we have as a family specifically, are very different than what can be portrayed in 140 characters,” he said. “I realize those were controversial and offensive, and I did publicly apologize for them. I don’t think it was the right thing to do that way. I understand it’s controversial and I apologize for it and I’m sincere about that. I shouldn’t have done it this way.” Robert Zimmerman took to the social network on Sunday, sharing a photo of De’Marquis Elkins, a teen charged with the fatal shooting of a 1-year-old in Georgia, and Trayvon Martin flipping the middle finger. A glimpse of the nature and true attitude of the Zimmerman family. The root cause of the execution of Trayvon .
