It's the end of an internet era, friends. For over two months now, so many of us have been focusing a frankly ridiculous amount of attention on a pregnant giraffe living in a New York zoo. The giraffe, of course, is April. She's been living her life on a livestream since February, and thousands upon thousands of people have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of her baby. But the wait is over — this morning she gave birth! A little after 7:30 AM, she went into labor, and her calf was born just before 10:00. April's baby is a precious little boy, though he doesn't have a name yet. Since we've all been so invested in her pregnancy, the zoo will give the public a chance to help name the little guy. The calf, April's fourth, will stay with her until he's weaned, which usually happens within six to twelve months, then, sadly, the plan is for him to move onto a different facility. Though he's not even a day old yet, he's already up and moving. In fact, he was standing just half an hour after being born. Right now, the calf is with April in her enclosure, getting lots of love and attention from both his mother and his father, who's in the enclosure right next door. You can check out the whole happy family in the live video below. Congrats, April!
No one is really sure what Tila Tequila does or why she’s still famous, but one thing is for sure: she has one hell of an interesting Instagram page. What you see above are three photos that Tila posted in quick succession last night. The first is a photo of her daughter, Isabella. The second two kinda speak for themselves. “My precious little tomboy is an advanced intellectual like her Mother,” Tila captioned the photo of her kid. “She will too, become empress of earth!” Moments later, without irony, Tila posted the middle photo with a caption reading, “I told ya my ass keeps getting bigger! I need to chill out on the cheez-its.” Take note: Empresses of the Earth love Cheez-Its. Anyway, this is all very tame by the standards of Ms. Tequila’s social media accounts. If you haven’t been keeping up, Tila thinks the Earth is flat , Hitler had some good ideas, and we would all respect her more if we could only see her giant, invisible penis. We wish we were making that up, but really it’s just the tip of the crazy-pants iceberg . At least Tila didn’t dress her baby like Hitler this time. We guess that’s progress.
Let’s just hope she’s less shallow than her mom. Truthfully, we saw this one coming from a mile away. Kim Kardashian Brags That North West Is Cuter Than Blue Ivy, Beyoncé Has Six Nannies Kim Kardashian may want to considering hiring new help because Nori’s nannies have been snitching to the tabloids, and the Beyhive is bound to BURY her when they get ahold of this! Via IBTimes : Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé may not be the best of friends, but they do have at least one thing in common: nannies who love to share dirt on their former employers. In the June 30 print edition of Life & Style magazine, people who claim to be former employees of Kardashian, 33, and Beyoncé, 32, dish what it was like to work for the A-list stars and care for their offspring — and it isn’t pretty. While Kardashian may have invited Beyoncé to attend her recent nuptials to rapper Kanye West, “insiders” close to the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star claim she has previously scorned Beyonce’s 2-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy in comparison with her own North West, 1. “She brags that Nori is cuter than Blue Ivy,” one source told the tabloid. “She loves it.” Not only is Kardashian accused of slamming Beyoncé’s girl, sources claims the newlywed also has strict rules when it comes to North’s wardrobe and her nannies’ proximity to her person when out in public. “Kim dresses her daughter in only neutral colors,” reads the report, adding, “Kim demands her posse walk behind her.” While Kardashian may not have the closest bond with her employers, Beyoncé has a bigger problem on her hand: six of them, to be exact. According to the magazine’s report, the “Single Ladies” performer has been known to employ a half-dozen nannies to care for Blue Ivy , her daughter with husband Jay Z. “She doesn’t have to do any of the dirty work and can just be loving and doting,” said a “family insider.” “She’s a good mommy, but it seems easy when you have six nannies!” Do you believe it? Guess Kim can call it square though since Bey and Hov supposedly call her a slore behind her back ! Do you think it’s unfair to compare Nori and Blue Ivy? Tell the truth, are you already guilty of doing so? SplashNews/FameFlynetPictures Hit the flip for some photos of each

Director Jacques Audiard (right), Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts in Cannes Thursday . It’s perhaps much too early to prognosticate on Palme d’Or contenders, but Jacques Audiard’s Rust and Bone has at least a decent shot at the festival’s top prize if initial audience reaction following Thursday’s press screening is any indicator. Starring Marion Cotillard and Bullhead actor Matthias Schoenaerts, the film follows Ali (Schoenaerts), who is suddenly put in charge of his 5-year-old son whom he barely knows. Without money, he makes his way to the south of France, where his sister lives. Though she and her husband are short on cash, they take them in and Ali finds work as a bouncer at a local nightclub. There, a brawl leads to a chance meeting between Ali and Stephanie (Cotillard), a self-confident beauty whom he takes home after she’s injured. While at work as an orca trainer in the days following, Stephanie suffers a life-changing accident and reaches out to Ali. “I was very excited after reading the script,” Cotillard said at today’s press conference for the film. “When a script moves me, I find that I immediately understand a character. Of course not completely, but I do understand.” Cotillard said she asked Audiard, who wrote the script with Thomas Bidegain (based on short stories by Craig Davidson), for help. “But he said he didn’t fully understand her either, so we were going to get to know her together…” [ OK, spoiler alert… ] While working at Marineland, Stephanie suffers an accident that results in her legs being amputated. Ali, who has only passed through life taking things as they come, helps Stephanie through her depression. To make money and exploit his natural physical prowess, he takes her with him to illegal fights where he’s a champion and the two grow a bond. “Matthias is like working with DiCaprio or a Daniel Day-Lewis. He’s of that ilk,” Cotillard said as her co-star smiled nervously. “There are no words to explain it. There’s this desire to explore which is something he very much has.” Indeed, if Rust and Bones is any indication, Schoenaerts may very well follow Cotillard’s career path to studio gigs. “There’s a lot of stuff moving. There’s stuff moving in the States, but I’m not in a hurry,” he said. Screen reported Thursday he is in talks to star in Hans Herbots’ thriller The Treatment . And Cotillard is teaming with fellow Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi ( A Separation ) on his next untitled film, spearheaded by Memento Films International. Audiard also offered up his critique of both actors saying Schoenaerts’ part almost went in a different direction. “When we finished the screenplay, I immediately thought of Marion,” said Audiard, who last screened at Cannes in 2009 with his Palme d’Or front-runner A Prophet . “As for Matthias’ character, we had originally thought of getting a non-professional actor — a boxer — but somehow it didn’t work. It was too realistic. But then I was shown Bullhead , and it was so great.” Despite the presence of violence throughout his film work, Audiard confessed a distaste for brutality — though there are most definitely some raw fight sequences in Rust and Bone . “I have a problem filming violence honestly which is strange because all my films contain violence,” Audiard said. “For this film we wanted the violence not to be too gory. I wanted Stephanie to admire [Ali’s] courage during the fighting and if it was too gory, I think it wouldn’t have worked.” Added Schoenaerts: ” Reconciliation is the biggest theme in this film — man and woman, father and child.” “The characters in this story are going undergoing tremendous changes,” Audiard continued. “Stephanie was an arrogant princess in the beginning of the story, but her misfortune causes her to re-examine herself. And Ali is going through a transformation too. He has a problem with words and relies only on his physical strength, but he learns simply to say, ‘I love you.'” Read more of Movieline’s Cannes 2012 coverage here .
Signs that your precious little girl may be inhabited by a malicious demon, according to this first trailer for the Sam Raimi-produced The Possession : She eats her pancakes at abnormal speeds (watch out for that fork), cradles an ancient wooden puzzle box in her bed at night, has a horde of insects living inside her mouth. What are desperate parents Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick to do? Get a peek at the latest in dybbuk horror — so hot right now! — after the jump. Produced by Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures, August 31’s The Possession stars Morgan and Sedgwick as estranged parents of two girls, one of whom makes the best-worst yard sale find ever: A dybbuk box housing an assortment of tokens and pieces of hair, which appear to possess her, effectively combining the Jewish horror and scary child genres in one convenient movie! (A dybbuk, in Jewish mythology, is a malevolent possessing spirit; also see: 2009’s The Unborn .) What makes this movie slightly more interesting is that it’s based on a true story — at least, on the 2004 L.A. Times article ” Jinx in a Box ” that documented the allegedly cursed item known as the Dybbuk Box, an antique wine box found by one unlucky owner at a yard sale that went on to curse subsequent owners and even has its own Wikipedia page . Another fun fact: The Possession features Jewish rap sensation Matisyahu in a supporting role! Plan your summer viewing accordingly. [ Yahoo ]
A tiny Michigan puppy was recently rescued from an underground pipe and became a viral video star … just in time to warm hearts this Valentine’s Day! What’s not to love about a tale of human rescuers and a trapped puppy, bonded by love? Not a lot, people. The story begins in subterranean Detroit. Five days ago, a four-week-old Puggle / Dauschund mix got trapped in an underground pipe, and was stuck overnight. Workers could hear, but not see it. The Michigan Humane Society called plumbers who brought cameras to look inside the pipe and a Bobcat excavator was brought in to dig around the pipes … Puppy Rescued From Underground Pipe Eventually, workers were able to reach the section of the pipe where the precious little critter was squeaking for help … and look what emerged! The dog was in surprisingly good health, just a little dehydrated and cold. Even better news? You can adopt him from the Michigan Humane Society! Even if you’re one of those people who curses February 14 as a useless, Hallmark holiday (i.e. a guy), you’ve gotta be tearing up just a little here. Right? Right. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Compared to the other releases set for Sept. 23 ( Moneyball , Killer Elite , Abduction , Machine Gun Preacher ), precious little is known about The Double . Correction: after watching the new trailer for the Richard Gere-led thriller, everything seems known about The Double . If you thought the trailer for Dream House gave up the farm, you ain’t seen nothing yet!
In this age of director-as-personality — witness Todd Phillips’ hilariously brash interview tactics as the most recent example of this phenomenon — it’s rare that a blockbuster hits theaters with someone anonymous behind the camera. Which is what makes the release of Kung Fu Panda 2 so extraordinaire. Despite being the sequel to one of the bigger animations hits of the last five years, precious little has been written about its director, Jennifer Yuh Nelson. Though that might have more to do with her gender than anything else.
