Since being released from jail Meek has shown immense growth. He has seemingly become the face of criminal justice reform with ongoing participation in rallies and voicing the plight of non violent offenders who have been unfairly hit with severe sentences. In the most stunning celebrity news story of the week, Chris Soules has been arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal car crash that left one individual dead. As previously detailed, the Season 19 Bachelor was driving his pickup truck on Sunday night when he rear-ended a tractor on a road near his farm in Iowa. Soules dialed 911 and reported that a man had been thrown out of the tractor and was now lying in a ditch, bleeding from the mouth… … but then he drove away and refused to let police officers into his home until they obtained a search warrant. Several hours after he crashed into 68-year old Kenneth Mosher and killed him, Soules was finally taken into custody and charged with the aforementioned crime. Authorities say cans of beer were found in Soules’ car, although it’s probable that too many hours elapsed between the time of the accident and the time of his blood test for the latter to turn up positive for alcohol. Still, pending an investigation, Soules may also be charged with involuntary manslaughter at some point. For now, he’s free on $10,000 bond. This incident, of course, is as serious as it gets; through his actions, whether by complete accident or whether his judgment was impaired in some way, Chris Soules took a life. However, if you watch The Bachelor online and/or have followed Soules’ reality TV career ever since his days as a contestant on Andy Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette, you’re likely aware that Soules has frequently run afoul of the law. There’s nothing in his past this severe. But there’s enough on record that could impact how this case is handled going forward. Let’s take a look at all Soules has allegedly done, shall we? In 2001, he was charged on two separate occasions for being a minor in possession of alcohol. In January of 2002, he was cited for unlawful use of a license. Later in 2002, he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after running a stop sign. (NOTE: this incident was eventually amended from leaving the scene due to defective brakes.) In 2005, he was charged with Operating While Intoxicated (Iowa’s term for DUI), after which he was fined $500; given a 60-day jail sentence; a 58-day suspended jail sentence; and a year of probation. Moreover, between the years of 2000 and 2012, Soules received a total of seven speeding violations. On their own, of course, none of these arrests or run-ins with the law are all that serious. But that’s a pretty long list for one individual to have accumulated, let alone one individual whose history of driving, drinking and irresponsibility may have finally caught up with him. News spoke to legal expert Troy Slaten to determine what sort of legal ramifications Soules could face in light of his latest charges and his lengthy criminal record. “What it looks like right now, he is facing what is called a Class D felony, which is leaving the scene of an accident causing death,” Slaten says . “Leaving the scene of an accident causing death is, in and of itself, a felony.” What if tests do come back that show Soules was over the legal drinking limit? What if his blood-alcohol content is above .08? “When somebody has a prior conviction for DUI, that can mean a couple of things,” Slaten explains, going into detail as follows: “It can change a case of vehicular homicide or vehicular manslaughter into murder, and here’s why: Normally when we talk about murder, there has to be some sort of malice or evil intent. “Getting in an accident is usually not evil… but when somebody has been convicted of DUI [in the past], they’re under a greater understanding of the dangers of drinking and driving because [they’ve] been through DUI classes and special alcohol education.” Makes sense, right? And it’s hard to argue with the logic behind these guidelines, no? The Iowa State Patrol is looking into whether alcohol played a role in the fatal crash. If so, prosecutors may cite “malice” due to Soules’ perceived knowledge of what happens when you drink and drive. They could say Soules showed an “indifference to human life” by once again getting behind the wheel after imbibing, according to Slaten, would could result in a MURDER charge. Soules was arraigned (see photo above) on Tuesday, which confirms he’s facing criminal charges. He also could face civil liability on behalf on the victim’s family. Mosher was a father of two and is also a grandfather. Sources say these relatives do not blame Soules for what happened, but that opinion could change if they learn alcohol was in his system. For now, Soules has simply issued a very straightforward statement through his spokesman. It reads: Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away. His thoughts and prayers and with Mr. Mosher’s family.
United Airlines is under investigation for the mysterious death of an especially large rabbit. Yes, you read that sentence correctly. Just a few weeks removed from the enormous public relations disaster of calling on the cops to drag away a customer who refused to leave his seat on an overbooked flight, the company is now under investigation again. This time, over the passing of an animal named Simon. Simon was a 10-month-old, three-foot long Continental Giant rabbit who was being transported in the cargo hold of a Boeing 767 while traveling from his breeder’s home in Great Britain to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. He was on his way to The Windy City to go to live with a new owner. However, when a United handler went to fetch Simon upon landing, the animal – whose 4’3″ father actually holds the Guinness World Record for longest rabbit – was unresponsive. He was dead. It was expected that Simon would outgrow his famous parent and eventually be crowned the new Longest Rabbit on the Planet. He had been sold to Bryan Bergdale, a farmland investment manager, who says he purchased the rabbit for his boss, Steve Bruere, who hoped to show it at the Iowa State Fair. “We’d built a pen and had toys all ready. It’s sort of a sad deal,” Bergdale told reporters. “We’re still in the mourning process. We’re not quite sure what we’re going to do.” Bergdale added that he paid $530 for the rabbit, along with $1,800 in shipping costs. According to Annette Edwards, a former Playboy model who lives and breeds these large animals in Worcestershire, Simon had been labeled fit to fly, with vets declaring him “in good physical condition” the day his plane took to the air. “Simon had a vet’s check-up three hours before the flight and was fit as a fiddle,” Edwards told U.K.’s The Sun newspaper yesterday, adding in confusion and anger: “Something very strange has happened and I want to know what. I’ve sent rabbits all around the world and nothing like this has happened before.” Across the globe, airlines require rabbits and most other caged pets to travel in a plane’s cargo holds. Here, the air pressure and temperature are supposed to be the same as they are in the cabin. Many companies also demand animals arrive with letters from a vet or certificates assuring they are healthy to travel. It’s unclear at this time whether or not Edwards provided documents of this nature. As previously cited, this is an especially bad time for United to be at the center of another scandal. It will likely shell out millions to Dr. David Dao for his horrendous mistreatment on board an oversold flight earlier this month. The passenger, who was sitting in a seat he purchased fairly and legally, was ordered to disembark so that United could fit four employees on board his plane. When Dao refused, he was physically yanked off board against his will, resulting in a concussion and multiple broken bones. And now USA Today reports that more than one-third of all 136 animals who died on passenger flights during the last five years passed away on United planes. What gives?!? That’s what PETA wants to know. “This rabbit was failed first by the breeder – who churns out and sells baby bunnies when animal shelters and rescue groups are full of homeless rabbits – and then by United Airlines, which shipped him off in a cargo hold like an old suitcase,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement to E! News. But a spokesman has issued the following statement in the wake of this tragedy: “The safety and well-being of all the animals that travel with us is of the utmost importance to United Airlines and our PetSafe team. “We have been in contact with our customer and have offered assistance. Ah, Farrah Abraham. Between her fondness for getting naked and her emotional instability, you couldn’t build a better reality star in a lab. Unfortunately, the same volatility that makes Farrah such a compelling trainwreck can also make her a public relations nightmare. You see, in 2016, there’s a certain expectation that C to D-list celebs will interact with their fans on social media. Generally, the powers that be encourage this, as it amounts to stars doing promotional work for free. Unfortunately, everything Farrah touches to turns to PR fecal matter. Today, for example, seemingly apropos of nothing, Farrah tweeted: “I love all of you people, I don’t give two drops of dried up pigeon sh-t on concrete how you feel about me.” What possessed Farrah to believe that it would be a good idea to remind the people who made her rich and famous that she cares less about them than avian bowel movements is anyone’s guess. (Though she certainly gets bonus points for more poetic imagery than we would’ve expected from a woman who frequently seems to struggle with the basics of the English language.) Anyway, we scrolled through Farrah’s Twitter page so that you don’t have to, but we couldn’t locate the particular tweet that pissed her off. The morning kicked off with news that Farrah’s mother is engaged to some dude. That’s not a cause for ridicule in itself, but it’s no secret that Farrah outright detests her mother, so the fact that she’s pretending that she’s overjoyed for the woman might have resulted in some acerbic tweets with Farrah’s name on them. The feud between Kylie Jenner and her brother Rob Kardashian must really be over. Yesterday, we saw them together in a video posted to Snapchat, and today Kylie shared a sweet throwback photo in honor of her bro’s birthday. In the photo, we see a young Rob playing with an even younger Kylie around Christmastime. “Happy Saint Patrick’s Day & Happy Birthday Bobert,” Kylie wrote in the caption, accompanied by a green heart emoji. It’s a little more intimate than the snap we saw yesterday, in which Kylie is focused on her phone and Rob is just kinda standing there twiddling his thumbs. But, hey, it’s a start! The siblings have been at odds ever since Rob began dating Kylie’s nemesis Blac Chyna back in January. It’s possible that Kylie finally realizes her brother is seriously in love with Blac and has no choice but to accept it. However, this is the Kardashians and Jenners we’re talking about, so don’t go thinking everything is calm and peaceful in their land. Today, we reported that Rob ditched his famous family to celebrate his birthday with Blac and her son King Cairo at Legoland, and mama Kris Jenner isn’t happy about it. When Krista Keller signed on for Lifetime’s Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition , was she expecting her life to transform into this wonderful post- Dancing With The Stars career? Welp, the very opposite is happening, and Courtney Stodden’s mother has had enough. She admitted to lusting after Stodden’s husband, Doug Hutchison, 55, and now Keller is being accused of hitting on youths . Previews for the episode show Stodden revealing that Keller allegedly lured a teenage boy over to Stodden’s house so that she could flirt with him. Keller “is denying the defamatory ‘Mother Daughter Experiment’ trailer about the next episode of the show airing now,” a source told Radar Online . The talent manager is now “consulting with her lawyers and her public relations company Edward Lozzi, about what action to take regarding this unfortunate defamatory trailer/ad for the show,” the source added. In the preview, Keller nodded while Stodden flung accusation after accusation at her mother, and highlighted a portion when she spoke about her own unhappy marriage. “The trailer is edited in ways that are untruthful, defamatory and damaging,” to Keller, who “feels that the show has taken a very low road to promote their production at her expense.” So much for superstardom.
Instagram LAX Announces They’re Building Separate Terminal For Celebrities Who will the Kardashian’s blame now for paparazzi leaks? At LAX, at least. Story via Market Place The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will soon have a new terminal, but it’s not for regular folks. It’s for celebrities, diplomats and wealthy travelers who are willing to spend bucks for their own lounge, security lines and the ability to avoid the rest of the flying public. We thought travelers might find this unfair, but a quick trip out to LAX proved us wrong. Most people said they were fine with it, as long as it wasn’t being built with their tax dollars. Celebrity photographers feel differently. Giles Harrison is a self-described member of the paparazzi, whose colleagues were talking about the terminal on Facebook. “Basically they were saying they could kiss their opportunity for getting pictures at the airport goodbye,” Harrison said. “I don’t wholeheartedly agree with that but it will certainly make getting photos at LAX of celebrities who don’t want their photos taken a lot more difficult.” Mary Grady, the Managing Director of Public Relations for Los Angeles World Airports, the city entity that operates LAX, said the terminal is modeled after one in London that caters to the royal family. In L.A., a different type of royalty leads to airport congestion. “We will have Korean pop groups come through, and the fans find out,” Grady said. “And the next thing you know, you have 300 fans who have shown up to the airport.” The terminal is being built and paid for by a private security firm called Gavin de Becker and Associates. And Grady is quick to stress that it is not reserved solely for celebrities. “Anybody can use the terminal,” she said. “The fees will be set by Gavin de Becker and Associates. It’s not just for celebrities. It’s really for anybody who would be willing to pay the price that they set.” That will reportedly be between $1,500 and $1,800 per flight. It looks like the paparazzi feel like they’re getting the short end of the stick. Is it fair that famous travelers get a separate terminal?
Rappers and athletes aren’t the only ones out here with break babies. Apparently NYPD chokehold victim Eric Garner also had a child outside of his marriage and his widow wants nothing to do with her. According to Daily Mail reports: She might be Eric Garner’s daughter, but she won’t be part of Garner’s family. The chokehold victim’s widow, Esaw Garner, acknowledged Friday that a 16-month-old girl named Legacy is her husband’s daughter with another woman — but said she wants nothing to do with the tot or her mother, Jewel Miller. “As far as her being accepted into our family, that’ll never happen,” Garner told the Daily News when asked about the baby. Eric Garner had been living with Miller for three years before his fatal encounter with Officer Daniel Pantaleo in Staten Island last July. The News reported Friday that a DNA test recently confirmed Miller’s assertion that Legacy is Garner’s daughter. That puts her in line for the largest share of any payout the Garner family gets from the city. “They knew she was his daughter but they didn’t want the public to know so they could keep up the image of the happily married husband and wife together which was the farthest thing from the truth,” Miller said Thursday. “I think it was a public relations thing.” “And Esaw is just money hungry,” she added. An angry Esaw Garner kept mostly tight-lipped Friday. “I know the truth. My kids know the truth,” she said. “We know that’s her baby and fine, that’s what she’s entitled to.” She declined further comment, saying her lawyer had advised her not to talk. Eric Garner had four biological children with Esaw, ranging in age from 15 to 25. The family’s lawyer, Jonathan Moore, is preparing a wrongful death suit against the police officers involved in Garner’s death. A notice of claim — the first step in filing a lawsuit against the city — filed last year listed Legacy as a potential beneficiary, in addition to Garner’s children with Esaw. The filing said the family would seek up to $75 million for Garner’s death. This is such a huge shame. We can understand Garner’s window’s feelings but at the same time — these women and their children are all mourning the same thing, it’s a shame they can’t come together over their loss.
