The head women’s basketball coach at the University of Notre Dame went viral twice last week — once, for speaking facts and a second time for those incomparable dance moves. At a press conference, a reporter asked McGraw how seriously she takes being the voice for equal hiring practices in sports. Obviously the answer is “very seriously” sir, but McGraw broke it down for the reporter so he and everyone else would have no doubt in their mind that it’s REAL. “Did you know that the Equal Rights Amendment was introduced in 1967 and it still hasn’t passed? We need 38 states to agree that discrimination on the basis of sex is unconstitutional. We’ve had a record number of women running for office and winning, and still, we have 23% of the House and 25% of the Senate,” she began. “I’m getting tired of the novelty of ‘the first female governor of this state,’ ‘the first  female African American mayor of this city.’ When is it going to become the norm instead of the exception?” Yes y’all, she was speaking up for women of color, TOO. “How are these young women looking up and seeing someone that looks like them preparing them for the future?,” she asked. “We don’t have enough female role models. We don’t have enough visible women leaders. We don’t have enough women in power. Girls are socialized to know when they come out: gender roles are already set, men run the world, men have the power, men make the decisions, it’s always the man that is the stronger one. And when these girls are coming out, who are they looking up to, to tell them that’s not the way it has to be? And where better to do that than in sports?” “All these millions of girls that play sports across the country, they could come out every day — and we’re teaching them great things about life skills — but wouldn’t it be great if we could teach them to watch how women lead?,” she continued. Next, McGraw — who recently said she doesn’t plan on hiring anymore male coaches — spit out statistics and simple reasoning for anyone who had an issue with that decision. “This is a path for you to take to get to the point where, in this country, we have 50% of women in power. We have… right now, less than five percent of women are CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. So, yes, when you look at men’s basketball and 99% of the jobs go to men, why shouldn’t 100 or 99% of the job in women’s basketball go to women? Maybe it’s because we only have 10% women athletic directors in Division I. People hire people who look like them and that’s the problem.” Thank you @BarackObama for supporting and empowering women sorry about busting your bracket tho — Muffet McGraw (@MuffetMcGraw) April 6, 2019 Watch the viral clip below and hit the flip to see how people feel about McGraw’s comments. Channing Dungey, The Black Executive Who Canceled ‘Roseanne,’ Joins Netflix

Excerpt from:

C hanning Dungey , the ABC Entertainment Group president who pulled the plug on the Roseanne reboot, turned a page in her impressive career that includes becoming the first Black president at a major broadcast network. See Also: 7 Times Black TV Shows Got Political And We Loved It The online streaming giant Netflix hired Dungey as a vice president who will oversee original content, Hollywood Reporter said on Monday. “I’m drawn to the forward-thinking, risk-taking and creative culture at Netflix, and the deeply talented people there, especially Ted (Sarandos) and Cindy (Holland) , with whom I’m excited to partner on setting the strategy for original content,” said Dungey, who starts her new position in February. Dungey was expected to share the vice president of originals position with Holland and report directly to her. The Black executive will also have a direct line of communication to content chief Sarando. Joining Netflix also gives Dungey the opportunity to reconnect with Shonda Rhimes , the creator of “Scandal,” and “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris . Netflix ain't playing. https://t.co/GWp275l1Wc — Tre'vell Anderson (@TrevellAnderson) December 17, 2018 Dungey, who spent most of her career at ABC, created a lot of buzz from industry watchers who speculated about Dungey’s next move following her announced departure from the network. It came after she canceled Roseanne Barr ’s show over Barr’s racist comment about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett . “Given that ABC, the place I’ve called home for nearly 15 years, represents the gold standard of traditional broadcast, it feels like the perfect next step for me to join Netflix, the unparalleled leader in streaming. I’m invigorated by the challenges ahead and the opportunity to forge new relationships, and excited for the very welcome reunion with incredible talent,” Dungey said. Speculation had focused on Dungey either joining one of two Netflix-based production companies: Rhimes’ Shondaland or the Obamas’ Higher Ground. She has the best of both worlds. Dungey’s new positon gives her greater oversight of both companies, according to Hollywood Reporter. “We’re delighted to be adding Channing’s expertise, leadership and deep experience to Netflix, and I look forward to partnering with her as we continue to grow and evolve our global network. I have been a fan of her character and approach from our early days as executives,” Holland commented. Lindsay Lohan Exposes Cleavage, Explains Why She Got Punched In the Face

Remember when Kim Kardashian “broke the internet” with her ass-centric Paper magazine cover? Well, that iconic pic inspired more than just a Wreck-It Ralph sequel. Paper has been trying to recreate that web-shattering success ever since, but this year they’re relying less on nudity, and more on confessional interviews with the tabloid queens of yesteryear. First, Amanda Bynes opened up to the magazine revealing exactly what was going through her mind during the extended meltdown that brought an end to her acting career. Now, Lindsay Lohan is spilling the tea in hopes of receiving a similarly compassionate response from social media. There are two problems with that plan, of course: 1. Lindsay effed up so hard for so many years that it’s impossible to address all of her scandals in a single interview. 2. While Amanda was self-destructive, Lindsay often turns her destructive impulses outward , negatively impacting the lives of those who have the misfortune to cross her path: Lindsay Lohan Accuses Refugee Mother of Trafficking, Gets Punched in Face Remember when Lindsay got punched in the face while she was harassing a Middle Eastern family because she insanely assumed they had kidnapped their kids? Yeah, that’s some next-level bigoted paranoia, even by the standards of Trump Era America. So it’s a good thing that — even though Lindsay has a new reality show to promote — the folks at Paper decided to focus on that ugly incident in their Lindsay interview. We assume the interview basically started with, “So — what in the actual f–k was that?” At first, Linds, dodged the question, saying that she wouldn’t talk about it over the phone, but would tell her story face-to-face. Naturally, she totally failed made good on her promise: “There’s actresses, there’s several of them to my knowledge that don’t use Instagram or Twitter. But I feel like you sort of have to,” she said, by way of dodging the question. “It’s your way of controlling the narrative. I recently made the mistake of having my phone recording live video, and that I learned from,” Lindsay added. “But I think it’s also important because if you’re doing something and you want to give direct access to your fans, you can contact them and see their thoughts and get an opinion.” So after offering that lofty explanation over the phone, Linds flew into NYC from Mykonos like some coke-fueled Carmen SanDiego. She showed up to her Paper photoshoot on time (which her publicist hilariously told the reporter “to note”), but when the subject of her one-woman anti-human trafficking campaign came up, Lindsay was, unsurprisingly, “too tired” to talk. “I read the situation wrong,” she later said in an e-mailed statement. “I’ve learned from it. And that’s all I have to say.” Thanks for that insight, Linds. Anytime you get punched in the face and the whole world applauds, we think it’s safe to say you “read the situation wrong.” “I would love to know why I get constantly clobbered in the press,” Lindsay said in her interview. “I could do 99 things right and one thing wrong, but it’s that one thing that will be focused on.” Well, Lindsay, when the one thing you did wrong is harass an immigrant family for the crime of having accents, yeah — people are gonna focus on that. Asked about her hard-partying ways, the 32-year-old former actress stated that those days are behind her … for the most part. “I like to have fun, but that doesn’t mean I need to go out and drink and be crazy,” Lohan told the mag. “I have a good relationship with that. It’s funnier to watch other people party.” Wait, so she’s out there playing ICE agent completely sober?! Jeez, this situation is more serious than we thought. CNN Sues Donald Trump Over First & Fifth Amendment Rights

Source: Visions of America / Getty Looks like we will see a court battle over First Amendment rights and the Presidency. CNN and reporter Jim Acosta have filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump and some in his administration. CNN says that Trump, Chief Of Staff, General John Kelly, Deputy Chief Of Staff William Shine, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Secret Service violated correspondent Jim Acosta’s First Amendment rights of freedom of the press and Fifth Amendment rights to due process after revoking the reporter’s press pass. Acosta has been one of the most vocal reporters in media about the Trump Administrations policies. CNN also requests court grant immediate return of Acosta’s press pass. So Sad: 4-Year-Old Fatally Thrown From Brooklyn Building By Mentally Ill Older Brother

Getty Images/PBNJ Production Child Tragically Thrown From Building Mentally Ill Brother This story is absolutely heartbreaking. A 4-year-old boy tragically died early Saturday morning following an incident with a family member. The toddler reportedly plunged to his death after his mentally ill older brother threw the child from their Brooklyn building, officials said. Shimon Smith was found in the courtyard behind his apartment on Nostrand Ave. near Ave. J in Flatlands about 3:30 a.m., cops said, where he died at the scene. WABC-TV Reporter Marcus Solis tweeted about the incident early Saturday morning, reporting, “Family tragedy in Brooklyn. 4-year old thrown off a roof to his death. 20-year old brother with history of schizophrenia in custody.” NOW: Family tragedy in Brooklyn. 4-year old thrown off a roof to his death. 20-year old brother with history of schizophrenia in custody. pic.twitter.com/78d2n5F46T — Marcus Solis (@MarcusSolis7) September 29, 2018 “It’s very inhuman. Too inhuman,” said John Okoh, whose family lives in the building. “They ought to have controlled the person who is sick.” The tot was thrown from a high floor, police sources said, but have not confirmed which number or exactly how high that is. According to reports, Shimon’s 20-year-old brother is actually the one who ran out into the street and flagged down a passing police car following the incident. Unfortunately for him, his now-late younger brother, and everybody involved with the situation, he is the one who ended up finding himself in handcuffs after cops realized that he may have been responsible for the boy’s death, sources said. Sources told  CBS New York  that the older brother eventually confessed to throwing Shimon off the building in Brooklyn’s East Midwood neighborhood. Charges against the older sibling, who has a history of schizophrenia, are currently pending. There are no other details regarding the horrifying events at the moment, or whether or not the poor child’s brother will sustain any charges following the death of 4-year-old Shimon Smith. Condolences go out to the entire family.
