Desperate Housewives to Feature 12-Year-Old Mom

Teen moms are so hot right now, but what about preteen moms? Perhaps we’ll soon find out on Desperate Housewives , now that the show has cast Nancy Travis and John Schneider as the parents to new resident himbo Brian Austin Green, despite the fact that Travis and Schneider are only twelve and thirteen years older than their onscreen son, respectively. Will this season’s mystery involve time travel and Life & Style cover stories? [ EW ]

Movieline Translates Casey Affleck’s Confession That I’m Still Here is Fake

Gasp! In what could only be described as predictable, Casey Affleck has admitted that the Joaquin Phoenix “documentary,” I’m Still Here , is fake. The director spoke with the New York Times and confirmed that everything from Phoenix’s appearance with David Letterman to the childhood home movies that are shown at the beginning of the film was planned, staged and carefully edited to create the most unsettling movie possible . Ahead Movieline dives into Affleck’s confession and tries to parse out what he’s really trying to say.

Unauthorized Harvey Weinstein Doc Lands Distribution

Rejoice! Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project — a documentary about exactly what it sounds like — has found a theatrical taker in IFC Films. It’s the distributor’s third deal of the week after TIFF acquisitions Super and Cave of Forgotten Dreams . According to a press release just over the Movieline transom, director Barry Avrich’s film is “a powerful, uncensored, no-holds-barred account that traces Weinstein’s path from concert promoter on the cold streets of Buffalo to his first trip to the Cannes Film Festival, where he arrived with one pair of pants and closed his first movie deal, to winning an Oscar, and breaking the bank with his first $100 million film.” Swoon. Kevin Spacey Dusts Off His Al Pacino Impression in Official Casino Jack Trailer

Hoo-ah! Back in 1997, Kevin Spacey hosted Saturday Night Live and showed off a number of fairly spot-on impressions: Christopher Walken, Walter Matthau, Jack Lemmon and, of course, Al Pacino. As the first official trailer for Casino Jack can attest, over 13 years later, the man’s still got it — at least when it comes to Pacino. Though if you’re asking yourself why Spacey does a Pacino impersonation in the middle of a film about D.C. lobbyist Jack Abramoff, you’re not alone.

On DVD: The Best High School Movie You Haven’t Seen

A big festival hit but otherwise a brash indie too grim and severe to really break out in theaters, Antonio Campos’s Afterschool is one of the best movies ever made about high school — that is, it nails the experience to the wall with a gutter spike. I’m not talking about the fun but fantastical high school movies you’re thinking of, like Fast Times at Ridgemont High , but the movies that capture the lostness, the social combat, and the pubertal angst, movies like Gus Van Sant’s Elephant , Lindsay Anderson’s If… , Shunji Iwai’s All about Lily Chou-Chou , and Tim Hunter’s River’s Edge . (I’d throw in Park Ki-hyeong’s moody K-horror epic Ghost School Trilogy and Frederick Wiseman’s High School , but maybe that’s enough adolescent hallway dread already.)

Michaele Salahi Reveals She Has Multiple Sclerosis

Real Housewives of D.C. White House crasher (and Movieline interview subject ) Michaele Salahi appeared on Fox & Friends this morning and announced she’s been battling multiple sclerosis for 17 years. Alongside her husband Tareq, Salahi explained why she only opened up about the illness now: “No one wants to be seen as sickly… And I didn’t want to be pitied.” I imagine this quote will fend off worldwide Salahi pity for, oh, ten minutes.
