Eliot Spitzer to Replace Campbell Brown?

The candlelight vigils for CNN’ s kamikaze anchoress Campbell Brown are over, and so it’s time to get down to the business of replacing her at 8 p.m. And if we’re continuing in her spirit of candor, then this is as good an idea as any: Erstwhile NY governor, escort connoisseur and “budding pundit” Eliot Spitzer. “He’s a smart guy, extremely smart. And he communicates well,” an anonymous cable news executive told the NYT . “The question about him is, how much stench is on him, and is he likable enough?” Those are two questions, of course, the answers to which are not much and not really, which of course means he’s a perfect fit on CNN, right? Jay-Z Breaks Bread With Billionaires Mayor Bloomberg And Nets Owner

‘I share his passion for Brooklyn,’ Mikhail Prokhorov says of NBA partner Hov at Gracie Mansion, according to the New York Post. By Mawuse Ziegbe New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Jay-Z share breakfast Photo: Chris Hondros/Getty Images Jay-Z is known for doing things big, but nothing says baller status like sharing breakfast with two billionaires, which is just what the Jiggaman did Wednesday morning in New York. The MC and minority owner of the New Jersey Nets noshed on bagels with media mogul/ major of New York City Michael Bloomberg and the new majority Nets owner, Mikhail Prokhorov, at Gracie Mansion (traditionally the mayor’s official residence though Bloomberg doesn’t live there). Prokhorov spent the rest of the day on a tour of the city, which included a stop in Jay-Z’s native Brooklyn, where the Nets plan to move in two years. While the European tycoon has made his multibillion dollar fortune in the banking and mining industries, Prokhorov clearly has his ear to the streets and revealed his respect for Jigga. According to the New York Daily News, Prokhorov gushed about his fellow Nets owner: “We are soul mates.” And there may be more power breakfasts in store for Hov and Prokhorov as the billionaire added, “I’m looking forward to hanging out with him.” While Prokhorov was aware that he and Jay-Z make something of an odd pairing, he insisted the connection between the two moguls is deeper than rap. “Despite the fact that I am very far from the rap music, we have a lot in common,” Prokhorov said, according to the New York Post. Plus, the two power brokers do have one important thing in common: “I share his passion for Brooklyn,” Prokhorov said. Are you surprised to hear Jay-Z is breaking bread with billionaires? Arizona Official Threatens to Cut Off Los Angeles Power as Payback for Boycott

If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight. That's the message from a member of Arizona's top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution. Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the five-member Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council's decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State — in protest of its immigration law — by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses. Noting that a quarter of Los Angeles' electricity comes from Arizona power plants, Pierce threatened to pull the plug if the City Council does not reconsider. “Doggone it — if you're going to boycott this candy store … then don't come in for any of it,” Pierce told FoxNews.com. In the letter, he ridiculed Villaraigosa for saying that the point of the boycott was to “send a message” by severing the “resources and ties” they share. “I received your message; please receive mine. As a statewide elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission overseeing Arizona's electric and water utilities, I too am keenly aware of the 'resources and ties' we share with the city of Los Angeles,” Pierce wrote. “If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation.” Appearing to tap into local frustration in Arizona over the raft of boycotts and threatened boycotts from cities across the country, including Los Angeles, Pierce warned that Arizona companies are willing and ready to fight boycott with boycott. “I am confident that Arizona's utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands,” Pierce wrote. “If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona's economy.” Pierce told FoxNews.com that he was speaking for himself, not the entire commission, though he has the support of at least one other member. But Arizona has some serious leverage over Los Angeles, as well as the rest of California. The state and city get electricity from a nuclear power plant outside Phoenix, as well as from coal-fired power plants in northern Arizona and two giant hydroelectric power generators along the Colorado River. Despite that, the Los Angeles City Council voted overwhelmingly last week to ban future business with Arizona — a decision that could cost Arizona millions of dollars in lost contracts. Los Angeles officials were furious with the Arizona immigration law passed last month and joined local officials in cities across the country in pushing boycotts to register their dismay. Critics say the law will lead to racial profiling and civil rights abuses. Arizona officials have defended the law, saying the state needed to take its illegal immigration problem into its own hands. Pierce said he's “supportive” of the state's efforts to control the border. The law requires local law enforcement to try to verify the immigration status of anyone they have contact with whom they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. It empowers them to turn over verified illegal immigrants to federal custody. The legislation explicitly prohibits screening people based solely on race or national origin. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/19/arizona-official-threatens-cut-los-an… added by: IndustryRule

China’s One Dog Policy

World’s most populous nation China has tremendously reduced its population by 400 million. China’s “One Child Policy” was established by leader Deng Xiaoping in 1979 to limit population growth. This year is the eleventh year since the policy was erected.  The government was pleased with the result thus they have created another “One Dog Policy”. One-dog policy is a policy implemented in 2006, restricting residents of Beijing, China to one dog per family. It also prohibits families from raising large (over 14 in or 35.5 cm tall) or ferocious dogs. Only three percent of dogs are vaccinated in China.  Many people die due to rabies. Beijing announced a one dog per household in nine zones throughout the city. Anyone with more than one dog will be clubbed along with the dog. Non-dog owners seem to be in favor of the move. If people cannot manage their dogs properly, then unfortunately, someone has to tell them how to do it. China’s One Dog Policy is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading →

Alicia Keys’ ‘Un-thinkable’ Remix Features New Verse From Drake

Rapper gives male ‘biological clock’ point of view on reworked track. By Jayson Rodriguez Alicia Keys Photo: Martin Oeser/ AFP/ Getty Images Maybe Drake and Alicia Keys should collaborate more often. The rapper announced earlier this week that the singer would appear on his debut album Thank Me Later ‘s opening track, the intriguing “Fireworks.” And Keys’ latest single, “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready),” on which she collaborated with Drake and his producer Noah “40” Shebib, now has a verse by the Toronto lyricist tacked on it. And the track is already gaining on Billboard ‘s Hot 100 chart. On Wednesday (May 19), New York jock DJ Enuff posted Drake’s remix of “Un-thinkable” on his website, ThatsEnuff.com . In his verse, which kicks off the remix, Drake takes a different twist on the ticking biological clock, addressing it from a man’s perspective by using conversations he’s had with his and Lil Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant. “Tez keeps telling me he just turned 30/ Having dreams of being single forever, he’s getting worried,” Drake raps. “And I’m scared too, ’cause I’m in the same boat/ Good women are rare too, none of them ever came close/ Me, I haven’t changed much, you know how I play it/ Better safe than sorry, instead of searching for substance at every single party.” The So Far Gone superstar continues, turning inward, describing his own life as a newcomer ascending into a new circle as a rising talent. “Baby, being part of this life, I feel like I’m bound to end up with somebody that’s been with everybody/ I need you to rescue me from my destiny/ I’m trying to live right and give you whatever’s left of me/ ‘Cause you know life is what we make it/ And a chance is like a picture, it’d be nice if you take it/ Or let me take it for you, I’m just down to ride/ We can roll around the city until you finally decide/ I got more than a thing for you, tattoo it in ink for you/ Right over my heart, girl, I do the un-thinkable.” Late last year, Drake said working with Keys on her Element of Freedom album was “one of the best studio experiences of my life.” The video to the original “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready)” premiered last week and stars former “One Tree Hill” star Chad Michael Murray.
