It features a hand and body lotion, an exfoliating sugar scrub, and a lip and body balm. All of the products in Cunningham’s beauty line are plant-based and designed for sensitive skin. They’re all created at a lab in Buffalo. Cunningham is beyond excited about her collaboration with Target. “I am so excited to offer my unique brand of American made yuck free products in an exclusive gift box designed specifically for Target. This is yet another dream come true for me,” she said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I am working hard to pave the way for other indie brands with teen CEO’s. My journey hasn’t been easy but it will forever be worth it. I am on a mission to shatter the status quo, and with partners like Target, I am making that happen.” Cunningham has come a long way from when she launched her business in 2010 and started selling her body butters and lip balms at farmer markets. Her products are now being sold at over 900 stores across the country. Cunningham’s brand is about more than just beauty. Her company focuses on STEAM and entrepreneurship education for women and girls. Up to 10 percent of her profits go towards supporting education for girls. There are a lot of Black youngsters who are bossing up and launching their own ventures. Last year, 17-year-old Journi Prewitt created a monthly subscription box that promotes reading amongst African-American children in an effort to change the racial disparity in youth literacy. Maisie Williams: Lorde Lookalike!

As if we needed more reason to love Arya Stark! Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams tweeted a photo of herself made-up to look like Lorde last night and the result is an uncanny resemblance! “Good Lorde, I have too much time on my hands,” Maisie tweeted along with the above photo. Seems the 17-year-old actress is as skilled with a pun as her character is with a sword! Of course, this isn’t the first time Maisie has demonstrated an ability to shape-shift. She made our list of Game of Thrones actors who look completely different in real life , and the difference between stylish Maisie and tom boyish   Arya  Stark must be seen to be believed. Lorde has yet to reply to Maisie’s awesome tweet but we’re sure the mega-popular pop songstress was flattered by the imitation. Lorde, of course, is another huge star who’s not yet old enough to vote, proving that not every young celeb has to engage in Bieber-style drunk drag races in order to capture the public’s attention. Some are too busy blowing us away with their talent and making us laugh with their totally random tweets. Watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic in order to check out Maisie’s remarkable skills as an actress…and as a swordsman.  Game of Thrones Characters In Real Life Open Slideshow 1. Ashton Shepherd give birth

The new baby, born in Demopolis, Ala. and measuring 7 lbs., 7 oz. and 19 inches long, joins big brother James, 5. Like a true country artist, Ashton Shepherd, 25, said of the new addition: “She’s perty!” Country singer Ashton Shepherd has something new to sing about: She and husband Roland Cunningham welcomed a daughter, Raden Delilah Cunningham, on Friday, Sept. 9, a rep for the singer tells us. The star is likely well-prepared to add another child to her brood, considering she hinted in a 2

Is the Bridesmaids Marketing Campaign Doing It Justice?

Movieline’s own Jen Yamato saw Bridesmaids at SXSW and declared it a magnificent crowd-pleaser and the best R-rated comedy since The Hangover . I believe her! But I can’t believe the tone set by the new Bridesmaids trailer, which undersells the movie’s intelligence and goes for cheap romcom laughs. Rage!

REVIEW: Glorious Bill Cunningham New York Captures the Face of the City, and Sometimes Its Feet

Long before “street-fashion photographer” was even a job description — before the Sartorialist first spotted a pocket square folded just so, before Tommy Ton even knew what a platform shoe was — there was Bill Cunningham’s regular New York Times photo-column, “On the Street,” a weekly feature capturing the range of looks and combinations found on the sidewalks of New York. Cunningham’s eye might be attracted by the recurrence of the color red, for example, or a dozen women wearing some variation of a black suede ankle boot. If Cunningham’s weekly photo-essays are catnip for people who care about fashion, they’re indispensable for people who don’t: The French, wisely, believe it’s important to have at least a glancing interest in fashion to be culturally literate, and on that score, “On the Street” neatly fulfills the minimum weekly requirement and then some.

Bill Press: On Election Night Boehner Office Will Be ‘Morgue,’ Pelosi’s A ‘Party’

Gallup might be seeing an historic spread in the Republicans’ favor, and even Mark Halperin is predicting GOP gains of as many as 60 seats. But amidst all the Dem panic and gnashing of teeth, the Pelosi party can still count on one true believer: Bill Press. Former California Dem chairman Press has predicted that when results come in on Election Night, GOP leader John Boehner’s office will be a “morgue,” while Pelosi’s place while Pelosi’s place is “where the party’s going to be.” Press proferred his hyper-optimistic prediction on this evening’s Ed Show, reacting to the report that Ohio talk radio host Bill Cunningham will be broadcasting from Boehner’s office on Election Night.  For good measure, Press—ironically no fan of the First Amendment, apparently—expressed disappointment that it was legal for Cunningham to do so. Let’s make sure Press’s prediction is duly noted.  See you on November 2nd, Bill. ED SCHULTZ: Bill Cunningham, radio talk show host out of Ohio, who’s a severe righty, is saying that he is going to be broadcasting from The Tan Man’s–John Boehner’s–office on Election Night. BILL PRESS: Well first of all, I checked. It is legal , in the House, for members can allow broadcasters to broadcast from their offices, I’m sorry, I’m sorry to say . . . But I’ve got to tell you, Ed, so it’s legal to be there, but if I were Bill Cunningham I’d stay home. Because once the results come in, it’s going to be like a morgue in Boehner’s office. You and I, you and I ought to broadcast, Ed, you and I ought to broadcast from Nancy Pelosi’s balcony.  That’s where the party’s going to be. Check the mirthful reaction of GOP strategist John Feehery. Even Ed had to chuckle at Press’s prediction.

WaPo Highlights ‘Local Opinion’ Politicizing Nun’s Death in Favor of ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform’

The Washington Post has an opinion blog entitled “All Opinions Are Local.” Print edition editors regularly pick from the blog to excerpt a post to the editorial page under the heading “Local Opinions.” Today’s entry, “Stop the torrent of hate after a deadly drunk-driving crash,” was filed by one Simone Campbell of Washington, whom the Post noted “is executive director of Network, a Catholic social justice advocacy group.” The online edition bears a much blander headline, “A proper tribute to Sister Denise,” referring to Denise Mosier, the nun who was killed in a Sunday car crash by repeat DUI offender and illegal immigrant Carlos Martinelly-Montano. In her 3-paragraph piece, Campbell essentially lumped xenophobes and racists in with conservative critics of law immigration enforcement, slamming “hate speech” on “The Post’s online comments section” and insisting that Martinelly-Montano’s immigration status did not cause “this tragedy.” Campbell then promptly proceeded to politicize Mosier’s death by arguing that “comprehensive immigration reform” would “be a proper tribute to Sister Denise’s memory.” The Post did not note that Campbell’s group Network supports a “Realistic path to earned legalization for people in the U.S. without status,” in other words, amnesty to immigrants in the United States illegally.  What’s more, by publishing Campbell’s mini-screed, the paper passed over a more measured, conservative post by Paige Winfield Cunningham of the blog Old Dominion Watchdog.  In her 8-paragraph August 4 post, “The human cost of immigration dysfunction,”   Cunningham cautioned against politicizing a tragedy, but noted that doesn’t excuse ignoring the policy implications of lax immigration enforcement: Victims exist on both sides of every issue. They’re easy to find on the left side of the immigration debate — for example, the children of illegal immigrants whose parents constantly fear deportation and struggle to create a life better than the one they left behind. On the other side of the debate, victimization is often expressed in large numbers that fail to communicate individual suffering — like how health-care services funded by taxpaying citizens are strained by millions who don’t pay. But this week, a tragic accident involving three Benedictine sisters from Richmond offered the right a story of how deportation gridlock hurts real people. One of the nuns was killed and two were left in critical condition after their vehicle collided with a car driven by 23-year-old Carlos A. Martinelly-Montano, an apparently illegal immigrant who was charged in the accident with DUI for the third time. It’s ironic that the crash occurred in Prince William — the county known as the toughest in the state on immigration. Prince William has been something of a microcosm of the larger debate since it enacted a policy in 2008 requiring officers to check immigration status upon arrest. In the first full year of the policy, 13 percent of arrests for DUI were suspected illegal immigrants, according to the 2009 Prince William County Police Report . Illegal immigrants also constituted 10 percent of drivers without licenses and 9.4 percent of drivers in hit-and-run accidents. The Benedictine Sisters have warned against using Monday’s accident for political gain, saying they “are dismayed and saddened that this tragedy has been politicized and become an apparent forum for the illegal immigration agenda.” But these three nuns, and the victims of other such accidents, shouldn’t be ignored. Space considerations may have factored into the Post not running Cunningham’s item in full, but it could have posted an excerpt lengthy enough for print but just enough to tease readers to check out the Post website. Instead, Post editors opted to run an editorial by a professional left-wing activist over a local political blogger.  It’s not surprising given the Post’s editorial bent, perhaps, but it is a disservice to print edition readers given the marked contrast between Campbell’s simplistic, boilerplate screed and Cunningham’s measured tone, which is the furthest thing possible from Campbell’s straw man of pseudonymed blog commenters venting their spleens with anti-immigrant hate.
