Land Of The Scammers: Georgia Man Reportedly Cheats Friends & Family Out Of $750K Over Fake Super Bowl Tickets

Source: Icon Sportswire / Getty Man In Georgia Scams Friends And Family With Fake Super Bowl Tickets Georgia police are currently looking for a man who reportedly made over $750,000 after scamming friends and family with fake  Super Bowl  tickets. WSB-TV Atlanta  is reporting that Ketan Shah is wanted for allegedly scamming a number of people he was close with–which includes his very own mother. His wife has commented saying that she hasn’t seen her husband since she reported him missing back in January. An alleged victim of the scam, Alan Tartt, said that Shah took off with $20,000 of his money and never delivered on the promise of some premium Super Bowl tickets. “It’s just crazy, mind-blowing,” he said. “Everything seemed legit.” Tartt also cited that before this specific incident, Shah had a seemingly reliable business image and it’s easy to see why so many people were fooled by him. Shah’s own mother says she was scammed out of a whopping $36,000, but she won’t be pressing charges. “It was a similar promise to all the other people who bought tickets,” explained Minish Shah, who isn’t related to Shah but claims to have known him closely. “One hundred level seating with access to the concierge lounge and a few pre-parties. I find the whole situation kind of bizarre, and hopefully, there will be some kind of logical explanation.” “Right now, what we know of is just slightly over three quarters of a million dollars scammed out for Super Bowl-related stuff,” Gwinnett County police spokesperson Wilbert Rundles explained. “It’s not that he posted some ad and random people are contacting this guy for tickets and being scammed. He’s known these people for many years. One of them, he’s known his whole life because it’s his own mother, and he’s taken advantage of them.” Four Atlanta men have filed theft by deception reports on Shah, who still hasn’t been found.

Look Alive, Atlanta: Scammer Is Posing As Gwinnett County Cop Demands Bitcoins And Threatens Arrest

Source: PeopleImages / Getty Scammer Impersonates Gwinnett County Cop In Extortion Plot This sound like some s#!t straight outta Training Day . Fox 5 Atlanta is reporting that there are a group of scammers on the loose in the metro Atlanta area who are looking to separate you from your coins. Your bitcoins. Gwinnett County Police department received a phone call from a concerned citizen saying she got a call from a man identifying himself as Sgt. Jake Smith “She just got a phone call from a Sgt. Jake Smith, saying that she has two warrants for her arrest,” she said on the call. The caller demanded payment in Bitcoin in order to make the warrants go away. Sgt. Smith is a fairly public figure in ATL as he is the public information officer and appears on the local news regularly to explain criminal events to the public. “Elements of it remain the same in that bitcoin and the old green dot cards, the wire transfer. None of it can be traced and that’s what they’re looking for in these extortion schemes,” said Smith. Another Gwinnett County resident who was targeted questioned how well this scam is working: “Who can pay in a bitcoin, I don’t know how to do that. I’m sure most people don’t how to do it. I hear it’s getting easier but I don’t know,” said Hughes. Good point, but naive people who don’t want to go to jail will figure it out if they are scared enough. Moral of the story is, if a “cop” CALLS you to tell you that you have a warrant, then that’s not a cop calling you. Stay woke, ATL.

Judge Rejects Brian Kemp’s Georgia Absentee Ballot Suppression Attempt

Excerpt from:

F or a second time, a federal judge put a halt to Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp ’s attempt to throw out absentee ballots over mismatched signatures. See Also: Georgia Isn’t Even Trying To Hide Its Racist Voter Suppression Efforts With This Video Federal Judge Leigh Martin May on Tuesday rejected Kemp’s request to suspend her initial Oct. 24 temporary order that instructed all local election officials to stop rejecting absentee ballots over the signatures, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Kemp is appealing May’s first ruling and wanted the judge to suspend her decision until a higher court hears the case. Kemp, the GOP nominee for Georgia governor, is in a tight race against Stacey Abrams , who could become the nation’s first African-American woman governor. He’s been criticized for his multiple attempts to suppress the Black vote for the 2018 election. Former President Jimmy Carter has asked Kemp to recuse him to ensure a fair election . BREAKING: A federal Judge in GA declined Sec of State Brian Kemp’s request to pause an injunction she ordered stemming from our absentee ballot litigation against Kemp and lawsuits filed by @CoalitionGoodGv + @ACLU https://t.co/YnwFu2w28g — Lawyers' Committee 866-OUR-VOTE (@LawyersComm) October 31, 2018 May’s initial Oct. 24 ruling stems from two lawsuits filed by voting rights organizations after advocates noticed that election officials in Gwinnett County, an Atlanta suburb, were rejecting hundreds of absentee ballots for signature discrepancies. The rejected ballots were disproportionately from minorities. In siding with the voting rights organizations, May ordered Kemp to instruct all election officials to stop tossing out the ballots over signature issues. She noted that there are many legitimate reasons that signatures on the ballots may not match the signature on government ID cards, including stress, age, or simply rushing to sign your name. Officials must mark those ballots provisional and give the voter the right to appeal the decision or confirm his or her identity. The secretary of state’s appeal of May’s order is expected to be heard in the United States Appeals Court’s Eleventh Circuit. Marta Coming To Gwinnett And Fulton County…Kinda

Source: Raymond Boyd / Getty Fulton and Gwinnett counties may see MARTA really soon..buses that is.  According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution ,  MARTA is gaining new momentum across the the region as local government prepare for expansion plans. Though bringing MARTA to these counties can be extremely beneficial to it’s residents, the words “MARTA” and “Transit mean different things to different people.  If you are a  Gwinnett County resident that is wishing for MARTA rail service transit, chances are you’ll be waiting forever. Quit frankly, county officials feel like rail services aren’t worth the hassle. Residents have shown more interest in the bus system which is the more affordable option.  County officials aren’t interested in proposing MARTA because it has been rejected twice by voters. Gwinnett county is the second largest county in Georgia, and most people feel like the county is ready for mass transit. Former chairman candidate and founder of Gwinnett Needs Mass Transit, Jack Snyder says , “We have citizens who need this mass transit to commute to work going down to Atlanta. We also have businesses that are desiring of having individuals capable of arriving to their places of work by using mass transit.” Gwinnett is nearly  900,000 people and these people are not the same people that once rejected the bringing MARTA to Gwinnett in 1990. MARTA COO  Richard Krisak states,   “ “The millennial, the young folks, like my kids, they don’t really want to have a car. We’re seeing more and more with that population segment, takes transit as a choice, not as a necessity.” I don’t know about not having, but I know that having MARTA as an option when it comes to commuting to Atlanta, most millennials would agree with his statement. “I think it’s an uphill battle,” Chairwoman Charlotte Nash told the  Atlanta Journal Constitution  this week. “It’s about feeling like they don’t have control about how their money is spent (with MARTA),” she said County Commissioner John Heard expressed a similar sentiment. “I believe that if we put it on the ballot, a local transit SPLOST will pass – for Gwinnett County only,” Heard said. “Nobody wants to send our money down to the City of Atlanta.”  Georgia lawmakers are looking at transit “Governance and funding ” . Some lawmakers would like to consolidate metro Atlanta ‘s  many transit agencies, which include MARTA, the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, Gwinnett County Transit and CobbLinc. A two hour commute from Snellville (gwinnett county ) to Atlanta or the MARTA system?  MARTA please. Words by Ericc Adkins

22-Year-Old Atlanta Woman Stabbed Roommate To Death After An Argument Over A Missed Ride

Atlanta Woman Stabbed Roommate To Death After An Argument Over A Missed Ride A 22-year-old Atlanta woman is in police custody for allegedly stabbed her roommate for leaving her stranded downtown. According to AJC reports: It happened early Saturday morning at his apartment on Bouldercrest Road. The police report said Charles Rudison was stabbed to death by his roommate, Breyana Davis, 22, after Davis ditched Rudison in downtown Atlanta. Rudison was a Dacula Publix distribution center employee, his Facebook page said. He’d gone to high school at Gwinnett County’s Mill Creek High and filled the page with contemplations on life and how to be a better man. Davis called 911 at 3:45 a.m. Saturday to tell how it all ended. She said she and another friend went downtown with Rudison, according to the report. Rudison and the other friend were angry with Davis after she left, because they had to catch a ride through the Lyft service. Once they arrived to Ashford East Village apartments, a confrontation ensued. Davis claimed Rudison pushed her down. Then came the blade, an 8-inch-long butcher knife. “At that moment the suspect grabbed a pot of boiling water from the stove and threw it on the victim,” a responding officer wrote. “She then grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the chest.” Davis said she was going to call 911 “because he had tried to attack her.” That wasn’t true, the witness said. It took only about 20 seconds from the time the two walked in the apartment to the moment when the blade pierced Rudison’s chest, said the witness, who couldn’t immediately be reached for further comment Monday by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Over a damn missed ride?!?!? Continue reading

Jokisha Brown’s Ex-Boyfriend Alfredo Capote Wanted For Rape, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery Yesterday, we reported a well-known Atlanta local was brutally gunned down just months after her abusive ex kidnapped her according to WSBTV reports: Police say someone shot Jokisha Brown while she was sitting in her car outside a strip of shops on the 2100 block of Cheshire Bridge Road around 10:15 p.m. Friday. “We’re actually interviewing witnesses on the scene. We do have a number of people who were on the scene when the incident occurred. We are collecting evidence, a number of shell casings,” said Atlanta Police Capt. Ben McGee. Brown’s friend, Jordan Jackson and others, confirmed to Gehlbach that Brown had been the victim of a violent and elaborate abduction from her Gwinnett County home. She escaped only by jumping from a moving car. “She went through a hard, very, very hard time with this breakup,” Jackson said. “She steadily voiced it, she feared for her life that something might happen to her.” Gwinnett police investigated Brown’s ex-boyfriend Alfredo Capote in April. Alfredo Capote had an extensive abusive history with Jokisha and was even wanted for her rape, kidnapping and more according to Crime Stoppers: Gwinnett County Police are actively searching for a violent and dangerous suspect named Alfredo L. They learned that the previous day, April 07, 2016, around 7 a.m. his mother’s boyfriend, Alfredo Capote stopped by to visit. Shortly after Capote arrived at the home, a masked male entered the home and tied up the seventeen year old son and his thirty five year old mother. The son was told not to call police or his mother would be killed. The victim’s son was left tied up inside the home. He was able to free himself hours later. BOSSIP Exclusive: Bow Wow Trying To Get Out Of $500K Default Judgment

Georgia Court Hit Bow Wow With Judgment For Sports Car Lease Bow Wow is pulling out all the legal stops to get out of paying a more than half a million dollar judgment over a debt to a sports car leasing company. Bow Wow said in legal docs that Sports Leasing Inc. was harassing his employer, CBS, for his salary info in order to pay a more than $500,000 default judgment that the rapper claims is invalid, according to court papers obtained by BOSSIP. Sport Leasing Inc. sued the rapper turned actor back in 2009 for not paying it back $216,084 plus interest after agreeing to lease some of their luxury sports cars. Bow Wow – real name Shad Moss – never responded to the lawsuit in Gwinnett County, Ga. Superior Court, and a judge later ruled in favor of Sport Leasing and put Bow Wow in default for $216,084, plus $41,879 in interest, an additional 18 percent in interest each year, and $25,821 in lawyers fees. The case remained in legal limbo for several years until last month, when a collection agency for Sport Leasing subpoenaed Bow Wow’s employer, CBS, demanding to know how much Bow Wow got paid from the TV show “CSI: Cyber.” The agency also wanted Bow Wow’s contract details, how much money he earned from the show to date and how much in royalties CBS was paying the rapper.
