Robert Pattinson Should Host ‘SNL,’ Jason Sudeikis Says

‘We got you, buddy,’ MTV Movie Awards host promises. ‘You’ll be fine.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jason Sudeikis Photo: MTV News Fans would love to see MTV Movie Award nominee and “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson take a stab at hosting “Saturday Night Live.” Well, maybe when “SNL” castmember Jason Sudeikis hosts the Movie Awards this Sunday, he can convince the British heartthrob to come on the show next season. “I think anybody should host [‘SNL’] if it’s something they want to do. Just give it a shot!” Sudeikis told MTV News just steps away from the Gibson Amphitheatre, where the 2011 MTV Movie Awards will be taking place Sunday. “We’re certainly a safe place, a safe haven.” Sudeikis even had some encouraging words for the potential host: “We got you, buddy. You’ll be fine. Hold on to me tightly. We’ll take you through the forest of ‘SNL.’ ” As far as he can remember, Sudeikis has yet to introduce himself to Pattinson. Though he might have met him already — unless that person was actually the star of “Dexter.” “I think I met him in the evening of the Emmys, but at the after-after-afterparty,” he recalled. “So it may have been Michael C. Hall. They may have both been there. But no, it’ll be nice to see him. He’s never hosted ‘SNL.’ Him or Kristen [Stewart]. And Kristen I got to meet during the promos , but Robert I haven’t met yet.” In that promo, Sudeikis gives Stewart a haircut, but we’re not sure fans would be as comfortable watching the Movie Awards host chop off Pattinson’s famous locks. ‘Eclipse’ Star Makes Plea For MTV Movie Awards Votes!

Jackson Rathbone tells Twilighters, ‘We’ve got a lot of heavy competition this year.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News WEST HOLLYWOOD, California — Hard-core Twilighters don’t need a reason to vote for “Eclipse” at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards , but if you’re torn, co-star Jackson Rathbone has some great reasons why you should help the third movie in the “Twilight Saga” take home some trophies at the show on Sunday. “We’ve got a lot of heavy competition this year — some Oscar winners, some amazing films, some amazing actors,” Rathbone said, reaching out to Movie Awards voters this week. “We’re just lucky to be in … contention, but y’all can help us out and go online and vote.” “Eclipse” is up for eight awards at the big show, including nods in categories like Best Movie, Best Female Performance, Best Male Performance, Best Breakout Star, Best Fight and Best Kiss, which has Kristen Stewart nominated for kissing both Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson ( Le scandal! ). And Jackson had one more push for the flicks. “Go out and vote and help us out. We need your votes,” he added. The “Twilight Saga” has had a quite a streak in recent years, taking home nearly 10 Golden Popcorn statues in all. And there’s a good chance the latest film will do well this weekend, when it will be up against a slew of other big flicks like ‘Inception” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,” and “Eclipse” stars will compete against A-listers like Emma Watson, Zac Efron, Emma Stone and Jesse Eisenberg, to name a few. “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke recently told us she was excited to learn that the David Slade-directed film is nominated for so many Movie Awards. “I think it’s great. I love it that people are so passionate about it and that people are really into it and following the characters,” she said when we chatted with her about the June 14 DVD release of “Red Riding Hood.” “I think it’s a great tribute, obviously, to what [author] Stephenie Meyer created. … Rob and Kristen and everybody’s been able to just keep it going and keep people loving it all this time, and, of course, all the directors, everybody. I think it’s awesome. It’s great.” Hosted by Jason Sudeikis, the 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. Jack Black, Seth Rogen Offer MTV Movie Awards Advice To Jason Sudeikis

‘Don’t go halfway,’ Black tells the 2011 host before Sunday’s big show. By Jocelyn Vena Jason Sudeikis Jason Sudeikis is mere days away from taking the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, to host the 2011 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday. We’re pretty sure he doesn’t need much advice — since he keeps the audience in stitches week after week as a castmate on “Saturday Night Live” and is bound to have everyone laughing in the summer comedy “Horrible Bosses” — but if he does need some last-minute words, MTV News caught up with some other funny guys to help out. “Don’t go halfway. Oh here it is: All of the f—ing way,” said Jack Black, who co-hosted the Movie Awards with Sarah Michelle Gellar in 2002. “That should be his mantra.” Need shorthand for that? Black added: “AOTFW.” While Seth Rogen seemed to be a little jealous of Sudeikis’ gig, he did have kind words for the host. “I don’t think he needs our advice,” Rogen said, with pal Danny McBride by his side. “I’ve been jockeying for that gig for 10 years, and he got it.” But what about some more advice from someone who’s been there before? Andy Samberg , who hosted the Movie Awards back in 2009, shared with MTV News some key steps to ensure a successful hosting gig. “What advice can you give to a guy that has it all? Be yourself, grab ’em by the scruff of the neck and don’t let go,” he advised. “Wear a nice suit. Hydrate. Crunches. Make sure ‘Twilight’ wins everything so the crowd is lively. Rig the results!” Another former host, 2010 emcee Aziz Ansari , had some different advice for the actor/comedian. “It’s so much work, so definitely have a lot of uppers on hand, like just drugs that’ll get you fired up,” he joked. “PCP is good to stay up all night, get all the work done. It’s a cool thing, though; it’s back in vogue. It’s like Twitter, PCP. It’s like trendy things: Twitter, PCP, Jonas Brothers.” The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live this Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Jason Sudeikis Likens ‘Twilight Saga’ To ‘Star Wars’

MTV Movie Awards host tells Jason Bateman that Bella and Edward kiss is ‘a big darn deal’ during our ‘Horrible Bosses’ Sneak Peek Week Q&A. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jason Bateman, Seth Gordon and Jason Sudeikis at MTV’s Sneak Peek Week screening of “Horrible Bosses” Photo: Frank Micelotta/ PictureGroup WEST HOLLYWOOD, California — It all started with an innocent fan question, submitted via Twitter, during the MTV News Sneak Peek Week presentation of the summer comedy “Horrible Bosses.” The crowd at the Pacific Design Center had just finished watching an early screening of the flick and were taking in the live chat with stars Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis and director Seth Gordon, when the conversation turned to Sudeikis’ upcoming gig: hosting the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. “Can the two Jasons top the Bella and Edward kiss from ‘Eclipse’ ?” the tweeter-in-question wanted to know. “What is that?” Bateman, clearly no devotee of the vampire franchise, wanted to know. So in stepped Sudeikis, who has been studying up on the Twi-ins and Twi-outs of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner’s blockbuster series. The “Saturday Night Live” funnyman proceeded to launch into an uproarious rundown of the steamy love triangle at the heart of the “Twilight Saga.” As Sudeikis explained it, Pattinson plays a “handsome vampire kid,” Lautner portrays “this other fella floating around,” and Stewart is “flummoxed — she doesn’t know which way to go.” Hitting on everything from “Star Wars” to masturbation to “Little House on the Prairie,” the cinematic breakdown was both reverent and ridiculous. But any summary can’t quite capture the magic of Sudeikis playing film school prof, so hit play on the video and check it out yourself! “Eclipse,” meanwhile, is up for eight nominations, including two Best Kiss nods for KStew herself, one with Rob and one with Taylor. As Sudeikis put it, “Them smooching is a big darn deal!” Don’t forget to check out the Movie Awards when they air live on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT. As we just announced, Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner will be on hand to present an exclusive clip from “Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? MTV Movie Awards Mania Kicks Off With Sneak Peek Week

Stars of ‘Fright Night,’ ‘The Help’ and more stop by next week for live interviews and exclusive clips. By Eric Ditzian Christopher Mintz-Plasse in “Fright Night” Photo: DreamWorks Each year, we jam 12 months’ worth of movie magic into just one day for the MTV Movie Awards . This time around, there’s simply too much Golden Popcorn goodness to contain, so we’re opening up things with a full five days of cinematic treats that we call MTV Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week. Starting on Monday, May 30, and running through Friday, June 3, we’ll be bringing you exclusive looks at some of this summer’s hottest films, including “Fright Night,” “Horrible Bosses” and more. Each night at 11 p.m. ET, we’ll welcome a film’s cast onto MTV to present an exclusive clip. Then you can continue the live conversation with the stars online, as our own Josh Horowitz hosts an extended chat with the talent. As always, you’ll have the chance to ask the stars your own questions; just tweet at @MTVNews using the hashtag #SPW . It’s all building up to the Movie Awards themselves, which will be hosted by Jason Sudeikis and air live on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. On Monday, we’ll be sitting down with “Fright Night” star Christopher Mintz-Plasse and director Craig Gillespie for an early glimpse at this horror remake. Mintz-Plasse and Anton Yelchin play high school seniors who get pulled into their neighbor’s creepy world, eventually finding out that the stranger (Colin Farrell) is a vampire preying on the town. The next night, the stars and director of “The Art of Getting By,” a Sundance fave earlier this year, will be stopping by. Emma Roberts, Michael Angarano, Elizabeth Reaser and director Gavin Wiesen will introduce a clip, then stick around to discuss their indie about a lonely student (Freddie Highmore) and the unlikely friendship he strikes up with Roberts’ charismatic and complicated teen girl. Wednesday brings us what’s sure to be one of the funniest comedies of the summer. “Horrible Bosses” star Jason Bateman and director Seth Gordon will present an exclusive clip before diving into a chat about how Bateman and his onscreen cohorts hatch a plan to kill their nasty workplace superiors. Then on Thursday, Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard will jump into the action in support of “The Help.” Based on the #1 New York Times best-seller, the film stars Stone as an unlikely civil-rights activist in ’60s-era Mississippi. Finally on Friday, the folks behind action-comedy “30 Minutes or Less” will bring Sneak Peek Week to a close. Stars Aziz Ansari, Michael Pe

SNL Scorecard: Did a Slew of Cameos Save Elton John’s Show?

What an odd night. Then again, when Elton John was announced as Saturday Night Live ‘s musical guest and host, perhaps an “odd night” should have been expected. But not quite like this.

Who Scored Big in Week 17 of SNL’s Relevancy Poll?

This week was the most difficult Saturday Night Live relevancy poll of the season to tabulate. No one cast member dominated the airtime, and with few exceptions, the cast was spread pretty thin throughout the evening. Put it this way: At one point I was thinking, Wow, Abby Elliott is getting a lot of play this week; it sure will be nice to see her finally near the top of the poll. But that faded as it became clear that pretty much everyone got a significant amount of play this week.

‘Hall Pass’ Stars Explain: Why Is Male Nudity So Funny?

‘It’s probably the awkwardness of the situation,’ Jason Sudeikis tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson in “Hall Pass” Photo: Warner Bros. For anyone familiar with the films of the brothers Farrelly, Peter and Bobby, there is an element of raunch and ridiculousness in each of their films — “Dumb & Dumber,” “There’s Something About Mary,” “Shallow Hal,” etc. — that seems to know no bounds. The latest addition to their body of work is “Hall Pass,” in which Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis play two suburban dwellers seemingly bored with their marriages. Incredibly enough, they both manage to secure “hall passes” — one-week vacations from their marriages and their wives — to do whatever they please. Naturally, plenty of Farrelly-brand wackiness ensues, including an extended scene that features not one, but two prominent pieces of male anatomy. When MTV News caught up with the castmembers recently, we asked what makes penises so funny, particularly to men, since more often than not, it seems they find them far more laugh-out-loud funny than women do. “Probably because we have them and we use them for various puppetry purposes,” Sudeikis offered. “Yeah,” Wilson agreed, adding that when guys laugh at seeing male anatomy onscreen, it’s like a laugh of recognition. “Whoa! Hey!” he exclaimed with a grin. “I think it’s probably less the penis that makes us laugh and more the reaction,” Sudeikis continued. “It’s probably the awkwardness of the situation.” “Yeah, awkwardness,” Wilson said. “If they weren’t laughing they’d be crying.” Luckily, Jenna Fischer, who plays Wilson’s wife in the film, weighed in as well to offer an unbiased female opinion on the subject. “I just appreciate in this film that since they put boobs in, they put boy parts in too,” she said. “I think it’s a full-service film in that way. All nudity is allowed,” she said with authority, which we told her was an excellent point. “It’s just fair.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Hall Pass.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
