Image via Getty/Isa Foltin/Andrew D. Bernstein Barack Obama Texted Kevin Durant After NBA Finals Victory There is no doubt that Kevin Durant is still riding high off the emotions of winning his first NBA Championship against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. While there is still unconfirmed speculation that the Warriors will not visit the White House to shake hands with Donald, KD has had a Presidential encounter since taking home the Larry O’Brien trophy. During his recent interview with Bill Simmons on The Ringer podcast, KD revealed that #44, Barack Obama , had sent him a congratulatory text already: KD : “Obama. He sent a text through somebody to get to me,” Simmons : “What’d he say?” KD : “Congrats,’Your defense was really good, which was random … and he told me to enjoy it, have some fun, typical stuff. I wasn’t expecting that.” You can listen to the interview in it’s entirety below.

Back To Court: Sherri Shepherd Is Still Fighting Maternity Ruling In $4600 A Month Child Support Case

Sherri Shepherd Appeals Maternity Ruling For Surrogate Baby Even though she’s currently coughing up $4,600 a month for her surrogate child with ex-husband Lamar Sally, Sherri Shepherd still insists that she shares no kinship with the baby . The comedienne is currently appealing the decision made by Pennsylvania Superior Court, deeming her the legal mother of the son she and Lamar had by surrogate mother and donated egg — and ordering her to pay up nearly $5k for the child’s well being. Via E!online : Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally’s surrogacy legal battle continues. A judge ruled in April that she is the legal mother of her and Lamar’s baby, Lamar Sally Jr., who was born via surrogate and was already on the way when she and Lamar split up. But now the former The View host is asking the Pennsylvania Supreme court to reverse the decision made by the Superior Court. Shepherd is arguing that the lower court didn’t have a right to declare her the mother, as Pennsylvania law requires parentage to be established by “genetics/biology or by adoption,” according to legal documents obtained by E! News. If you’ll recall, the egg used to create little Lamar Jr. didn’t come from Sherri, and a surrogate carried the baby to term. By that logic, Sherri feels that she was ruled as the child’d mother unfairly. But she says in the meantime, she’s focusing on the child she does claim… Shepherd previously opened up to People about her surrogacy legal battle and the lower court’s decision. “I am appealing the ruling that happened and he gets his settlement every month,” she said of her ex-husband. “He’s happy. There nothing I can do. It’s out of my hands. You move on and I have a son. I have to take care of him so everything is good.” Well the courts have already spoken their piece once…do you think Sherri should keep cutting checks, or is she right to try to have the ruling overturned?

Defense Lawyer Blames “The Ghost Of Trayvon Martin” For Guilty Verdict In Renisha McBride Case

Do you think Renisha’s killer got a fair shake in the courtroom? Defense Attorney Blames Trayvon Martin Verdict For Guilty Verdict In Renisha McBride Case Last month, justice was served in the shooting death of Renisha McBride . However, everyone doesn’t agree with the ruling . Apparently defendant Theodore Wafer’s attorney found the ruling so unfair that she has taken a year-long sabbatical from legal practice over her guilt of not being able to get him acquitted. Via Detroit News : The last time the country, if not the world, was watching attorney Cheryl Carpenter, she broke down weeping in court. In late August, Carpenter was arguing for leniency in the sentencing of her client, Theodore Wafer. Wafer, 55, was found guilty in the shooting death of Renisha McBride, 19, after she pounded on his front door in the middle of the night. Through tears, Carpenter pleaded Wafer “shows more remorse than any client I have ever seen.” Now, almost a year to the day of the Nov. 2 murder that thrust Carpenter into the spotlight, she cringes at the memory. “I’ve never cried like that in a courtroom,” she said, sitting cross-legged on her couch in her Birmingham home. “I was horrified by it. Society does not accept tears or emotion very well. Especially from attorneys.” Still, the 44-year-old will attest: The very passion that caused her to lose her composure is the same force that draws her to the most hopeless of cases. “The ones who are the most powerless, the ones who are the most hated and the ones who are the most prejudged are the ones I want to help the most,” she said. “It feels like my calling. I want to fight for the biggest underdog.” Wait…so she thinks Wafer was the underdog here? O….k. But here’s what she had to say about the racial climate during the trial that she feels was unbeatable — despite what she saw as evidence to the contrary: Still, the Wafer-McBride case came on the heels of the Trayvon Martin case in Florida which was intensely scrutinized and covered by worldwide media. “The pressure was different than any other case I’d ever had,” she said. “We had the ghost of Trayvon Martin in the courtroom.” In one breath, she insisted, “This case was not racial. I can say, with 100-percent confidence, that Ted did not know who was on his front porch when he saw a figure coming at him.” In the next, she said: “It didn’t help that after (George) Zimmerman was acquitted, he acted like an assaultive creep and they thought, probably, we can’t led Ted go free and maybe murder another woman.” Last week, attorneys from the state appellate defender’s office filed an appeal of Wafer’s second-degree murder conviction. Hmmm…what do you think Bossip fam? Was Wafer not given the same benefit of the doubt he would have been afforded pre-Trayvon??

Michigan Gay Marriage Ban Struck Down By Judge; State Now 18th to Allow Same-Sex Weddings

A federal judge Friday struck down Michigan’s ban on gay marriage. As such, the state becomes the 18th in the nation to allow gays and lesbians to join in legal matrimony just like their heterosexual counterparts. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette immediately filed for an emergency request for a stay of the ruling in the late afternoon Friday. Schuette said that “Michigan voters enshrined that decision in our state constitution, and their will should stand and be respected.” “In 2004 the citizens of Michigan recognized that diversity in parenting is best for kids and families because moms and dads are not interchangeable.” It’s unclear if that stay will be granted. In his 31-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman heavily criticized the state’s position that the will of the voters should have been upheld. “In attempting to define this case as a challenge to ‘the will of the people,’ state defendants lost sight of what this case is truly about: people,” Friedman wrote . “No court record of this proceeding could ever fully convey the personal sacrifice of these two plaintiffs,” the judge went on. “[They] seek to ensure that the state may no longer impair the rights of their children and the thousands of others now being raised by same-sex couples.” Two Hazel Park, Mich., nurses, April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse, filed their lawsuit in January 2012, saying Michigan has no rational basis for denying them the right. The women have been partners for eight years. “It’s just amazing,” said DeBoer, who wiped away tears and hugged Rowse after learning of Friedman’s ruling. “This is what we’ve wanted for our family and families like ours.” “We got our day in court, and we won.” Friedman did not follow the trend of other federal judges handling similar cases across the country because he did not stay his ruling pending appeal. Unlike most federal judges who have taken up the gay-marriage issue, Friedman opted last fall to hold a trial and give both sides a chance to present their arguments. Friedman’s ruling came two weeks after the trial.

Charlie Sheen RIPS Brooke Mueller, "Italian Judge Anus-Brain" Over Custody Ruling

Charlie Sheen has gone off regarding his custody case in epic fashion, weighing on the ruling that awarded custody of his two sons to Brooke Muller’s brother. Calling the judge in the case Mr. “Italian judge anus-brain,” the actor threatened him if his kids, twins Bob and Max, are hurt in the newest custody setup. Brooke Mueller’s Brother Gets Custody of Charlie Sheen’s Twins The Warlock is not pleased, to say the very  least, that Brooke Mueller’s brother Scott was given temporary guardianship of the boys in court Friday. “So lemme see if I got this straight,” Charlie Tweeted yesterday. “My twin boys are now in harm’s way and in grave danger, being ‘raised’ by a gaggle of incompetent and lascivious marionettes all ruled and fooled by an Adderall snorting husk called Brooke.” Oh, and it gets better yet … “And guess what CPS and ‘I’m Italian’ judge anus-brain,” he says. “You may have gagged me temporarily, but mark my unspoken words, anything happens to my boys, and you will get to know me, know who I truly am, a loving father. “Tag. I’m it.” The judge also allowed Scott and the children to live with Brooke so they could be close to school, which effectively gives Charlie’s ex-wife full custody back. The boys had been under guardianship of Denise Richards, Charlie’s other ex-wife, but she also has two little daughters by the actor, so she’s bowing out. Denise says Charlie is a great dad , and was proud to care for the kids, but believes Bob and Max have behavioral issues and it just got to be too much. Charlie adamantly wanted to keep the two boys away from Brooke, who is recovering from her latest bout with drug abuse. He feels she’s a danger to them. Other classic outraged Sheen quotes in response to the ruling: “This pig circus overflowing with buffoons, sycophants and heretics cannot be trusted to safely raise a colony of ferrets.” “Brooke will fail and her brother [who lives by the beach] will be selling his ass under a pier and the evil nanny will die from ugly.” “When, not if, this psychotic and desperately irresponsible sham goes sideways, DCFS will burn to the ground, topped off with the smoldering robe of the judge.” The best part? In court a few days ago, the judge slapped him with a restraining order and gag order and threatening him with jail if he blabbed like this again. He joked to the actor not to mess with him, saying “I’m Italian,” which is why Charlie worked that into his rant. As for the gag order, Sheen does not care. At all. “If this means being jailed for loving and trying to protect my children,” Charlie Tweeted with an asterisk at the end of his tirade, “then go for it.” Your move, Mr. Italian judge.
