Joe Biden. Bernie Sanders. Kamala Harris. Angelina Jolie?!? In a new interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today program, the ambitious actress admitted that she’s thought about running for President someday, presumably as a Democrat. Before you laugh, it’s worth remembering that Donald Trump is currently President of the United States. It’s true! You can look it up and everything! The morally questionable real estate mogul, who highest previous position was lead star of The Apprentice (a reality show on NBC) was elected leader of the free world in November of 2016. Ever since this depressing shocker transpired, stars such as Kanye West, Dwayne Johnson and Orpah Winfrey have pondered their own run at the White House, basically figuring: Sheesh, if frickin Donald Trump can win… So, why not Jolie? She serves as a special envoy to the United Nations Refugee Agency; has traveled and lived around the world; and seemingly really has dedicated her life to helping the less fortunate. When the aforementioned program’s host, Justin Webb, said he had put her on a list of Democrats who might run in 2020, Jolie laughed and said, “Thank you.” From there, she didn’t exactly dismiss this as a possibility. The actress went on to say she would stay quiet “for now” because she feels she can “get a lot done without a title.” But then she didn’t stay quiet. She started to list her qualifications! “I’m able to work with governments, and I’m also able to work with militaries, and so I sit in a very interesting place of being able to get a lot done without a title and without it being about myself or my policies,” she explained. At one point, Jolie’s shady past may have prevented her from ever reaching the Oval Office. But Trump totally banged a porn star while married and then paid her hush money and no one seems to care. Given that context, would Jolie stealing Brad Pitt from Jennifer Aniston really be an obstacle in a Presidential run? “I don’t know if I’m fit for politics, but then I’ve also joked that I don’t know if I have a skeleton left in my closet,” Jolie told BBC here, adding: “I’m pretty open and out there, and I can take a lot on the chin. So that’s good. But I honestly will do whatever I think can really make change.” And the Winner is? Angelina Jolie Click Here To Vote for Angelina Brad Pitt Click Here To Vote for Brad You must choose one. Which of these stars would you prefer as Commander-in-Chief? View Poll » Jolie will serve an executive producer of a new BBC-run global English-language news program for children, scheduled to premiere in 2019. Aside from the fact that, like, 75% of women in the country despise her, the star’s resume really isn’t all that terrible for someone who may get into politics. Jolie ended her interview by saying it was important to her that the aforementioned project be global and “help young people in different countries to be connected to each other and to have greater awareness and understanding of the news on an international basis.” So there you have it. Angelina Jolie in 2020? Does she have your vote?
Source: Olivier Douliery-Pool / Getty Richard Overton Passes Away A true American hero has passed away. Richard Overton, America’s oldest War War II veteran and the man believed to be the oldest person in the United States, died Thursday afternoon. The news was confirmed by his family member Shirley Overton to CNN. He was previously lauded by President Obama who honored him at a Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in 2013 and the centenarian credited his long life to God’s grace. Overton also enjoyed vices like whiskey and cigar smoking and butter pecan ice cream that he ate nightly. “I drink whiskey in my coffee. Sometimes I drink it straight,” CNN reports he said when he was 107. “I smoke my cigars, blow the smoke out; I don’t swallow it.” Overton served with the 188th Aviation Engineer Battalion, an all-black unit in the Pacific, and began volunteering for the army in 1942. Before his passing, he visited Washington D.C.’s National Museum of African-American History and Culture. He would have been 113 on May 11, 2019. R.I.P. Mr. Overton. Thank you for your service.
Source: NICHOLAS KAMM / Getty They Still Got A Looooong Way To Go The Trump supporters are at it again and they are PRESSED to get this wall up. Brian Kolfage, a Trump voter and disabled Iraq War veteran with no connection to his administration, started a GoFundMe to help pay for Trump’s proposed wall across the U.S.-Mexico border. Kalfage wrote on the campaign page that he set up the fundraiser because “President Trump’s main campaign promise was to BUILD THE WALL. And as he’s followed through on just about every promise so far, this wall project needs to be completed still.” *Sigh* Kolfage continued, “Too many Americans have been murdered by illegal aliens and too many illegals are taking advantage of the United States taxpayers with no means of ever contributing to our society.” Help us lawd. Kolfage said that if every Trump voter donated $80, they could raise the $5 billion needed for the border wall. “Even if we get half, that’s half the wall. We can do this,” he wrote. It seems Kolfage missed Trump’s recent statement saying the wall will cost around $15 billion, and by Trump standards, this number could even be inaccurate. If we go by earlier reports , the wall could actually cost around $70 billion. But okay Kolfage. The goal on the campaign page is $1 billion. As of Thursday morning, the page has already raised over $3 million after only being set up on Sunday. Donations vary from large to small with $5 being one of the lowest and $200 being one of the biggest donations among individual donors. Kolfage told donors that he’s contacted the Trump administration and he assured them that every penny of their donations would go towards funding the “Trump wall.” “We have many very high level contacts already helping,” Kolfage wrote. Mhm. Folks on Twitter were already over the whole movement, saying they had doubts that supporters could raise the billions of dollars needed to build the wall. Mika Brzezinski is trying very hard to extricate her foot from her mouth right about now. But will it be enough to save her job? The Morning Joe co-host is in boiling hot water at the moment after she used a homophobic remark to describe Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on air. Brzezinski was talking about Pompeo's interview on cable news rival Fox & Friends, where the very high-level Cabinet member explained his view on the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Pompeo said that while the killing a “tragic incident” that the United States doesn't approve of, the Saudis are still “an important ally” of this country. Hence the lack of any action ordered against them by President Trump. “I understand that Donald Trump doesn't care … But why doesn't Mike Pompeo care right now?” Brzezinski asked during an interview with Sen. Dick Durbin. She then got in trouble by adding out loud: “Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on Fox & Friends, is that a patriot speaking, or a wannabe dictator's butt boy? “I'm dead serious. I'm asking, are these the words of a patriot?” That second line may be the best part: Brzezinski was dead serious in wondering: Is Secretary of State Pompeo a wannabe dictator's butt boy?!? As you might imagine, Brzezinski garnered a whole lot of backlash for the use of this term, prompting a response and an apology on Twitter: Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough were among the President's staunchest allies back in 2015 and 2016, around the time of the Republican primary. They often interviewed the then-candidate. But the hosts and the Commander-in-Chief have since had a major falling out, with Trump going off on Brzezinski last summer and sparking a bizarre social media feud . Click on the above link to relive that rivaly and check out Mika's “butt boy” comment here!
A Black British soccer player ignored the racist abuse yelled at him from a fan but commented on how it was fueled by the racial bias of some media outlets, which is also seen in the United States. SEE ALSO: Texas Official Defends Racist Stereotype: ‘You Can’t Count On A Black Quarterback’ England and Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling said Sunday that irresponsible media outlets to “fuel racism” through their portrayal of young Black soccer players, the Guardian reported. His remarks appeared on social media after the police launched an investigation into a fan of the opposing team who was recorded on video at Saturday’s match allegedly yelling a racial slur at Sterling. It happened in the first half of a match against Chelsea when Sterling went to pick up the ball in front of the stands. “…For all the newspapers that don’t understand why people are racists in this day and age, all I have to say is have a second thought about fair publicity and give all players an equal chance,” Sterling wrote on Instagram . BT are apparently investigating the footage of Sterling being racially abused. 1st time I saw this pic i thought Sterling was laughing in their faces whilst they shouted. I hope that’s what he did. Look how angry they are. No place for this venom in football #MCFC #Sterling pic.twitter.com/WVs5oo7yOb — Paul McGarraghy (@PaulMcGarraghy) December 8, 2018 In his media post, Sterling gave the example of a young Black player who was criticized in a newspaper article for “splashing” his salary on a mansion before he even played his first professional match. Sterling said the rookie buying a house for his mother was the right thing to do, but Sterling also noted that the paper failed to criticize a young white player who did the same thing. “This young Black kid is looked at in a bad light,” Sterling stated. A University of Missouri researcher in 2015 reported similar media racial bias in the United States on how athletes are covered. Stories on African-American athletes focus primarily on criminal actions while stories about white athletes are overwhelmingly positive. Among the findings, more than 66 percent of the crime stories involved Black athletes while only 22 percent involved white athletes. More than 70 percent of domestic violence stories involved Black athletes and only 17 percent involved white athletes. “True cultural sensitivity requires the eradication of racial and ethnic stereotyping; thus, journalists and reporters must reflect on how their own unfounded beliefs about race differences in sports likely contribute to the stereotyping of black athletes as engaged in more criminal activity and innately physically gifted yet lacking in intelligence and strong work ethics,” the researcher Cynthia Frisby said. By Sunday morning, the authorities had not arrested the fan. “We are aware of a video circulating online in which it is claimed racial abuse was allegedly directed at a player … We will review the footage to determine whether any offences have been committed,” a statement from the Metropolitan police said. See their statement below: Statement by the Office of George H. W. Bush on the passing of the 41st President of the United States of America this evening at 10:10pm CT at the age of 94. pic.twitter.com/XUPgha2aUW — Jim McGrath (@jgm41) December 1, 2018 Bush served as the 41st president from 1989 to 1993, following two terms as vice president under Ronald Reagan and the father of the 43rd president, George W. Bush. Bush was also a World War II naval pilot who survived being shot down over the Pacific, led the CIA and spent eight years as vice president before taking the Oval Office. Bush’s death comes less than eight months after that of his wife of 73 years, Barbara Bush.
George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st president of the United States and the father of ex-Commander-in-Chief George W. Bush, died on Friday night. He was 94 years old. The sad news was confirmed yesterday by spokesperson Jim McGrath. “George Herbert Walker Bush, World War II naval aviator, Texas oil pioneer, and 41st President of the United States of America, died on November 30, 2018. “He was 94 and is survived by his five children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two siblings,” the former president’s office said in a statement. Concluded this message: “He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Barbara; his second child Pauline “Robin” Bush; and his brothers Prescott and William or “Bucky” Bush.” Bush, a Republican who held the Oval Office for one term, was hospitalized back in April , just one day after laying his beloved wife to rest. He had contracted an infection at the time, but it’s too early right now to know the President’s cause of death. Son George W. spoke on behalf of his siblings with a statement of his own shortly after his father died on Friday. It reads as follows: Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro, and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died. George H. W. Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for. The entire Bush family is deeply grateful for 41’s life and love, for the compassion of those who have cared and prayed for Dad, and for the condolences of our friends and fellow citizens. Funeral details will be announced in the coming days, McGrath also noted. On Twitter, meanwhile, President Trump wrote the following: “President George H.W. Bush led a long, successful and beautiful life. “Whenever I was with him I saw his absolute joy for life and true pride in his family. His accomplishments were great from beginning to end. “He was a truly wonderful man and will be missed by all!” He and wife Melania also released a lengthy statement that we have included below: Prior to his time as the most powerful man in the world, the Massachusetts native served as an aviator in the Navy and flew 58 combat missions during World War II. He was awarded three Air Medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Bush then served as Vice President for eight years to Ronald Reagan. He was a congressman, ambassador to China and director of central intelligence, receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011. The former President’s death comes just eight months after his wife of 73 years, Barbara, died on April 17. Even after her passing, Bush remained devoted to his late wife, sitting beside her casket for hours in his wheelchair as mourners paid their respects while she lay in repose one day before her invitation-only funeral. The photos of his tribute made their way around the Internet at the time. Bush’s grandchildren affectionately nicknamed him “Gampy,” and Bush Hager has said on The Today Show that her grandfather “really is one of the most humble, wonderful men.” We send our condolences to his loved ones. May George H.W. Bush rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2018: In Memoriam
