550 Pound Suspect’s Wheelchair Won’t Fit Into Court Remember Wobbles, the 550-pound kingpin caught flipping guns in New York? It seems his weight is already presenting problems for him while he’s in police custody. Via NYPost : He’s (almost) too tubby for justice. The 550-pound gangster accused of operating a massive gun-running ring couldn’t make it to his Friday arraignment — because his wheelchair wouldn’t fit through the elevator doors at Bronx Criminal Court. Instead, William “Wobbles” Soler, 33, was arraigned in a cramped, 8-by-10-foot room in front of the facility where prisoners are held. His huge frame engulfed the wheelchair he was shackled to as he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Judge George Villegas said he’d never seen anything like it in his 12 years on the bench. “He’s on a [double-wide] wheelchair,” he remarked before the proceedings. “Basically it’s a love seat on wheels.” Soler’s lawyer, Brian Sullivan, said they had no other option but to bring the arraignment to Soler. “Did you see his wheelchair?” he said afterward, stretching his hands out. “It wouldn’t fit through the elevator.” Even if he’d made it into the lift, Soler wouldn’t have been able to fit through the courtroom door prisoners enter through, a court officer explained. We have an update on the condition of Tracy Morgan. First, there are reports that indicating that the former 30 Rock star suffered a crippling brain injury following the horrific car accident he survived this summer. Benedict Morelli, Morgan’s attorney, told The New York Post that the “jury is out” on whether the comedian will be able to perform again . He’s currently in rehab for speech, cognitive, vocational and physical functionalities. Morelli added that physician don’t yet know if the wheelchair-bound Morgan will ever be the same. Tracy Morgan Slams Walmart Morgan was coming back from a show in New Jersey this summer when a Walmart truck – driven by an employee who had gone over 24 hours without sleep – crashed into the limousine carrying him and his friends, killing comedian James McNair in the process. Earlier this week, Walmart filed federal court papers that shifted the blame of the crash injuries to Morgan and others who were not wearing their seatbelts. “These people are despicable,” Morelli said of Walmart executives. “They knew that they changed these people’s lives forever and killed somebody. They’re good blame shifters. I guess that’s how they make $783 billion a year, shifting the blame.” In response to Walmart’s assertion, Morgan released a statement yesterday that read in part: “My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I’m fighting hard every day to get back.” TMZ, meanwhile, confirms that Morgan is still confined to a wheelchair and writes that the injuries he suffered in this crash may prevent him from ever walking again without some kind of assistance. According to NY Daily News: A dispute over a curtain separating their beds exploded into blind rage early Wednesday when a Rockaways nursing home resident beat his elderly roommate to death with a wheelchair leg rest, police said. Thomas Yarnavick had been squabbling with his doomed roomie over privacy issues since they began sharing the room in July, police sources said. Yarnavick’s anger finally boiled over around 1 a.m. when they began quarrelling over the curtain, the sources said. Jailall Singh, the battered 71-year-old, was rushed to St. John’s Hospital, where he died at 2:43 a.m., cops said. Yarnavick, 67, who sometimes used a wheelchair, was arrested at the scene and charged later with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon — the leg rest. The suspect and the victim are from Queens. Other residents at the Ocean Promenade Rehabilitation and Nursing Center said the two men in room 308 didn’t get along. “Last night I heard screaming voices, but that happens all the time,” said 63-year-old Kamal Musa, who lives across the hall from the once-warring pair. SMH. But Aaron Lichtman, a spokesman for the home, insisted management was not aware the two men had been at odds. “It’s as if you live in a small, tight-knit town, and you wake up to incredibly tragic news,” he said. “This is like a small town.” Yarnavick, who was waiting to be arraigned late Wednesday, is no stranger to the legal system. He has a prior arrest on his rap sheet. But it wasn’t immediately clear what he had been arrested for because the case was sealed, sources said. His sister didn’t want to talk about him. “I haven’t seen my brother in 20 years,” said Muriel Calame, 69, of Gouldsboro, Pa. Located on Beach 113th St., the rest home was badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy and some 90 residents were forced to shiver for several days in the sand-filled building before it was evacuated. Anyways, our big day came and I wanted to try everything to get into the M&G as well. When we were standing in line I was so nervous that security maybe wouldn’t let me in, but to my surprise they did! The English man asked me who I was and I told him I was Alex’s friend. He gave me a yellow wristband (not an official M&G wristband, they were pink colored). After we got our wristbands we went into the hall and waited for Justin. I didn’t really cared that Justin was late because I was thinking, “I waited for him 4 years, I guess I’ll be able to wait another 3 hours.” First came DJ Tay James and gave Alex a “Swaggy” snapbag and then I asked him if we could hug him and take a picture. He agreed and took a picture with all of us and hugged us all. When Tay left, I saw Johnny standing next to another dancer of Justin’s and I asked him if he could come over and take a picture with us too. After waiting for a while, one of Justin’s security came over to us and said: “We’re sorry that y’all need to wait this long, but here are diamond wristbands.” We all screamed and couldn’t believe what was going on! After he gave us those wristbands Dan walked in. He walked in like “what’s up, let’s meet some fans!” He was so nice and cute. We all took pictures with him and hugged him as well. Dan is such a nice person and he was so sweet. Finally the M&G started and we all started to sing songs. I saw a eye trying to catch a glimpse out of this little black curtain. I smiled and waved, it was Justin! Then it was finally our moment. I was standing behind Alex so I could push her into the curtain and Theresa (the girl left from Justin) was standing next to me. He was like, “Ok guys let’s all take a picture.” He had such a cute and sweet voice but you could hear how ill he was. His voice was almost gone. After our picture all of us asked for a hug and he said, “Lets all make a group hug.” Then security cut our wristbands and we went into the concert hall. When the countdown was 00:00 my heart was beating so fast like never before and then he came flying down to us like a beautiful angel. When he landed, he looked me in the eyes!
