As you’ve likely heard by now, Amber Portwood is in a considerable amount of trouble. The troubled Teen Mom OG star stands accused of assaulting boyfriend Andrew Glennon while he was holding the couple’s 1-year-old baby. Glennon claims Portwood threw a shoe at his head, ran after him with a machete, and attempted to break down a door after he locked himself in a bedroom with baby James. Obviously, this is not the first time that Amber has been arrested on assault charges, and most folks who are familiar with her explosive temper have little doubt as to the veracity of Andrew’s claims. But despite the fact that she very likely engaged in some truly monstrous behavior, Amber has quite a few supporters. At her first court hearing on Thursday, Amber was joined by several of her co-stars, including Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, and Cheyenne Floyd. Lowell has taken flak for her support of Amber , but neither she nor the other Moms have shown any indication of backing down from their position. But for all their loyalty, the stars of TMOG will never have the title of Amber’s Biggest Supporter. No, that title goes to Amber’s brother, Shawn Portwood — aka Bubby — a man whose ultra-close relationship with his sister has often been described by fans as creepy, inappropriate — and just flat-out icky. Shawn spoke with The Ashley’s Reality Roundup this week, and not surprisingly, it seems he’s 100 percent in Amber’s corner: “This whole thing is a setup and it has been from the beginning, the more I read about what’s going on,” Shawn told The Ashley. “It’s amazing that [Andrew’s]trying to get her to pay for literally everything so that he doesn’t have to pay for anything. “[He’s] fighting for full custody [and] he’s trying to get her to pay for his insurance.” Seems like an odd motive, considering Glennon comes from money and enjoyed a lucrative career as a TV producer before he met Amber. But Shawn is going all-in on the “Andrews as gold digger” narrative: “[Andrew’s] trying to get her to pay child support,” Shawn continued. “He’s trying to get her to pay for everything and make it to where the only thing he has to do is literally just look after the boy. It is not fair and she doesn’t deserve what’s happening to her.” Shawn went on to claim that Andrew repeatedly lied to Amber over the course of their relationship: “Apparently he said he had a lot of things that Amber recently come to find out it weren’t true,” he said. In recent weeks, Amber has accused Andrew of cheating on her, but it seems Shawn is suggesting there’s even more going on than just the infidelity. Whatever the case, we’re sure to find out a whole lot more about Portwood and Glennon’s relationship as their custody battle unfolds in the weeks to come. Gabe Khouth, a veteran actor likely best known for his recent role on ABC’s Once Upon a Time, died suddenly on July 23 from cardiac arrest while riding his motorcyle. He was 46 years old. Friend and fellow actor Peter Kelamis shared the tragic news on Twitter, writing: “On July 23rd, my friend, Gabe Kouth appeared to suffer a cardiac arrest while riding his motorcycle and tragically died as a result. “Gabe ALWAYS put a smile on everyone’s face. My deepest condolences to his Family and friends. RIP-You kind, kind soul#Heartbroken #gonetoosoon.” Khouth joined Once Upon a Time in the first season, taking on the recurring role of Sneezy/Tom Clark and appearing in a total of 43 episodes over the series’ seven-season run. His other television credits include the following: The Crossing Life Sentence A Series of Unfortunate Events iZombie Supernatural Not everyone is aware that Kouth was also was a prolific voice-over actor in such projects as: Beyblade Burst and Fruit Ninja, along the features Barbie & Her Sisters in a Pony Tale and Escape From Planet Earth. He will be missed.” Lee Arenberg, who portrayed Khouth’s on-screen brother, Tweeted he is “devastated beyond words, describing Khouth as “sweet and spicy, hilarious and loveable and a pure talent.” Elsewhere, Khouth’s brother, Sam, posted a video remembrance on Twitter, saying his brother “loved to ride” and inviting fans to pay tribute at the presumed crash site in Vancouver’s, Port Moody. Source: Michael Kovac / Getty Algee Smith Reflects On McKay’s Euphoria Episode In New Interview When BOSSIP spoke to Euphoria star Algee Smith last month, he hinted at a specific scene in the show that made him particularly uncomfortable to shoot. I won’t give it away but I have this scene in one episode and it really challenged me as a man to do that scene. It was an uncomfortable scene for me, but I had to learn how to separate myself and just be the actor because someone might be dealing with that type. I had to get over my masculinity issues, as a black man we often have to realize it’s okay to be in this position for a minute. It’s not something that makes you less of a man but some things we just don’t feel comfortable with, like some men don’t feel okay crying. The episode of the series that focused on his character, Christopher McKay, aired last week, which also featured the scene that Smith was referencing above. The shocking turn of events had everyone talking, confused on what really went down when McKay was attacked by a group of fraternity members during an intimate moment with his girlfriend, Cassie. Algee Smith spoke to Complex following the episode causing an uproar to talk about his experience filming, what really happened in that scene, and what we can expect for McKay in the future. On what actually went down in that McKay scene: When I first read that in the script, I [wasn’t] comfortable at first because I thought it was just too much but he’s not harassed in the way that everybody thinks; it’s a hazing thing, [but] people think he’s getting raped or whatever. It’s like, nah, that’s just like messing with him, pinning him down, but the way it really looks on TV, it looks really dark. So I could see how people would think that because the editing made it look so dark. People just don’t know how to respond, [which is] really good though—when people don’t know, they ask questions. That keeps the conversation going. On Euphoria’s reception overall: The demographic is so wide, everyone is being targeted. So you got mothers and fathers who are talking, you got teenagers, you got college students, you got older people, you got the LBGTQ [community] that we’re talking to. We’re talking to everyone. We don’t [pull] any punches and I think that’s the great thing about it, we can relate to everyone. On his favorite episode of the series so far: I’m going to say my favorite was [“The Next Episode”], that’s where I feel like, just because knowing the work that went into it, and knowing how proud I made our director, I would say my episode is probably my favorite so far, but they’ve all been crazy. Everyone was getting crazy and there’s cliffhangers with everyone. On where Algee sees himself 5 years from now: I can see myself very well balancing my acting and my music. I can see myself touring. You’re going to consistently hear me on the radio, on the speaker, and on your screen. That’s my goals, be consistent just keep doing what I’m doing at a high level, getting better every year. With Euphoria already being renewed for season 2 just a few episodes in, there’s no question that this series is going to tell a lot of interesting stories in the future–and Algee is just as excited as we are.
We know, we know — you’ve heard this one before. It seems about once a year, a bunch of reports surface about how Leonardo DiCaprio is totes serious about the model he’s currently banging, and he might even be considering marriage. (These reports usually pop up right around the time Leo has a new movie to promote. Weird.) Camila spends a lot of time at his house.” Ooooh … a lot of time at his house? Considering DiCaprio and Morrone have been dating for over a year , and dude is in his mid-forties, that sounds like the slowest-moving relationship of all time. But hey, we suppose most of Leo’s previous models never even made it to the one-year mark. As for the rumors the DiCaprio and Morrone are engaged , the sources stop short of confirming those reports. Actually, they stop well short of confirmation, basically making it sound like Leo just started referring to Camila as his girlfriend. “Camila is long known as Leo’s girlfriend,” the insider says. And Leo introduced her to both of his parents long ago.” Morrone is a model (duh), and half Leo’s age (double duh), so she certainly meets his primary requirements. The only problem is that as far as we know, Camila has not yet learned to manipulate the space-time continuum, meaning that there will come a time when she’s no longer in her twenties. No one can say for certain what will happen when that time comes — but we can say Once Upon In Hollywood is coming to a theater near you this weekend! Okay, so how does this work? Rutger Hauer, a veteran actor probably best known for his leading role in the 1982 blockbuster Blade Runner, died on July 19 at his home in the Netherlands. He was 75 years old. Hauer’s agent, Steve Kenis, made the news today and added that Hauer’s funeral was held Wednesday. The Dutch actor starred in the aforementioned movie as Harrison Ford’s nemesis, truly putting himself on the Hollywood map with that legendary performance. Hauer’s character delivered a famous speech during a climatic face-off with Ford at the conclusion of Blade Runner, dialogue which he helped write himself, many outlets have since confirmed. “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe,” he tells Ford, adding in this iconic scene: “Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.” He will also be fondly remembered for having major parts in Batman Begins and Sin City — and he also won a Golden Globe Award for his role in the 1987 TV film Escape from Sobibor. Hauer’s exact cause of death is unknown at the moment, but his agent says the actor passed away after having been diagnosed with some kind of illness. “This is not news, but he was a great guy and a great actor,” Kenis told Fox News this afternoon. On the small screen, Hauer portrayed Niall Brigant on HBO’s True Blood, the king of the tribe from which the Stackhouse family is descended and the faerie grandfather to Sookie, Jason Stackhouse and Hunter Savoy. He also recurred on ABC’s medieval musical comedy Galavant as Kingsley in 2015. Aside from his acting career, Hauer was very active in social causes as an outspoken sponsor of the environmental organization Greenpeace and the founder the Starfish Association, a non-profit devoted to AIDS awareness. In the wake of his passing, there’s been an outpouring of sadness on social media. Tweeted Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro, for example: “RIP the great Rutger Hauer: an intense, deep, genuine and magnetic actor that brought truth, power and beauty to his films.” And Robert Patrick added: “I am so sad to hear this, Rutger was such a sweet human being, and amazing actor! R.I.P. Rutger Hauer.” And Clancy Brown: “Giant Dutch hands. Giant Dutch heart. Rutger is one of the best actors I’ve ever known. Rest In Peace.” And Jack Osbourne: “RIP Rutger Hauer. Your work shaped my youth. Thank you. You will not be lost in time, like tears in the rain.” Hauer is survived by his second wife of 50 years, Ineke ten Cate, and a daughter, actress Aysha Hauer, from his marriage to Heidi Merz. Now Tezuka wasn’t just some low-level employee who did storyboards for a B-level animation studio. Tezuka, who died in 1989, is literally considered the father of manga (Japanese comics) and some have even christened him the Walt Disney of Japan (well, him and another animation great, Hayao Miyazaki ). So when The Lion King came out in 1994 claiming to be an original story, certain folks couldn’t help but notice similarities between the Disney flick and Kimba . Although Kimba has more themes dealing with animals and human interactions, both Kimba and The Lion King are coming-of-age stories focused on an African lion cub whose father was killed in the first act. Even if Kimba had different storylines, the series had similar characters to The Lion King , including a villain with a Black mane and a scar-like eye and a bird who served as the voice of reason to the lion cub. Disney representatives have repeatedly said that they didn’t rip Kimba off to make The Lion King and at one point, the co-director for 1994’s The Lion King , Rob Minkoff told the Times : “Frankly, I’m not familiar with [the TV series]. I know for a fact that [ Kimba ] has never been discussed as long as I’ve been on the project.” A screenwriter on The Lion King , Linda Woolverton added, “This is the first I’ve heard of Kimba or Tezuka. I never heard anything or saw anything about his work.” Welp, that’s that, right? Nope.
