The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 9: First Emotional Look!

Lies! Betrayal! Heartbreak! And a brand new cast member! Bravo has unveiled the first trailer for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills… and let’s just say it isn’t short on drama. With Denise Richards on board and with rumors swirling that Lisa Vanderpump may be leaving the franchise, fans have been anxiously awaiting footage of new episodes to come. And none of it disappoints. At one point in this trailer, we hear Kyle Richards saying, “Someone is hellbent on getting this Dorit story out there,” while Vanderpump alleges: “They’re all trying to make me feel like a terrible person!” Elsewhere in this preview, Vanderpump tells Dorit Kemsley that she loves her — and then quickly points out, “Well, I actually don’t.” “I’m not going to say what a f-cking bitch she was,” Vanderpump remarks later on. “Up, I said it!” At whom is her anger director? It appears to be Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave or Kyle Richards, who seem to be on the outs with Vanderpump. In another scene, Vanderpump says Mellencamp Arroyave is “guilty by omission,” while holding up printed copies of her text messages. Lisa has said previously that she’ll be heavily involved in Season 9, but did add ominiously: “There are some parts I missed. And you’ll see why. ” Vanderpump will have at least one ally on Season 9, however.  Isn’t that right, Erika Girardi? “I kind of feel like the two of you are in cahoots,” we see her telling Kyle and Kemsley in this promo, adding to other castmates: “She doesn’t want to sit and pretend to be nice to someone who has f-cked her over. That’s not friendship, that’s bullshit.” “I’m not responsible for Lisa Vanderpump’s actions,” Kyle yells. On the professional front, Vanderpump will throw all of her time and effort into her restaurant as a way to cope with her brother’s death, while Richards will ponder the future of her Beverly Hills clothing store and also settle into her new home after sending 18-year-old daughter Sophia off to college. Rinna will wonder whether she wants to act again — and Denise Richards and Camille Grammar will both have weddings to plan. Grammer will also make her return felt by getting into an argument with Rinna over Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh , telling her occasional rival: “I know what it feels like to be wrongfully accused.” Yup, Camille Grammer is gonna stand up for Brett Kavanaugh. Does this all sound dramatic enough for you? Just wait until Brandi Glanville and Kim Richards both make appearances! “Cheers, bitch,” Glanville says, toasting Denise. “That’s a lie,” Kim yells at Denise in one fight. “I’m done.” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 9 premieres Tuesday, February 12 at 9/8c on Bravo. Meghan Markle: Is She Pissing Off the Brits By Celebrating Thanksgiving?

About 400 years ago, a group of pasty Brits boarded a rickety vessel and set sail for the New World with the goal of establishing a colony where everyone wouldn’t just simultaneously drop dead the instant the temperature dropped below 40. Unlike more recent immigrant caravans, of course, the Pilgrims earned a permanent place in the collective memory of Americans. We probably don’t need to tell you the rest of the story: The Pilgrims had a nosh with the Wampanoags and now, Americans get a four-day weekend, at least a quarter of which is to be spent stepping on the necks of octogenarians in hope of grabbing a slightly marked-down physical copy of Red Dead Redemption II so that the nephew you don’t even like will have something to open on Christmas morning. To call the tradition beautiful would be like saying the Grand Canyon is a pretty big hole, or Brett Kavanaugh enjoys the occasional brewski. More than Mount Rushmore, CTE, and civilian-owned military-grade assault weapons combined, Thanksgiving weekend is America. So it’s nice to see Meghan Markle reppin’ the Stars and Stripes and proudly flippin’ the bald eagle to her in-laws by celebrating Turkey Day right in the heart of King George country. Now, to be fair, Meg probably won’t be posting up in a recliner and gnawing on a drumstick while the Bears take on the Lions. While that sort of behavior is customary on this side of the pond, Meghan is a duchess now, and finishing off a twelver of Natty Ice during the late game would probably be considered a ” breach of royal protocol ” or something. And so, she marked the occasion in more suitable fashion by stopping by West London’s Hubb Community Kitchen to applaud the workers for their efforts and whip up a batch of her signature stuffing (which the Brits call “chuzzlewit” … we assume). Furthering her reputation as the least-lameass member of the royal family, Pregnant Meg genuinely seemed to enjoy her visit to the soup kitchen and didn’t once raise a kerchief to her mouth in response to any odors that may have been emanating from the poors. Of course, this isn’t Meghan’s first Thanksgiving in the UK, but it is her first with a royal title.  As such, there was some scuttlebutt regarding whether she would mark the occasion at all, and whether the famously vitriolic British tabloid press would give her any flak if she did. So far, no shade has been thrown, but you can bet Meghan’s evil half-sister Samantha can’t wait to talk her signature brand of semi-literate trash. Man, America really got stuck with the dud Markle, didn’t we? Hey, Brits, how about we tear up this pesky Declaration of Independence, and you guys give us Meghan back in exchange for Sam? Deal? It’s probably best if you recolonize us anyway. We’re not doing so great with this “democracy” business. View Slideshow: Meghan Markle Baby Bump Watch: Is She Showing Yet?

Keep Your Head Up: ‘Hate U Give’ Star Opens Up About Sexual Assault

A mandla Stenberg  recently opened up about sexual assault and the pain that she has grappled with because of it. ‘The Hate U Give’ star, who is only 19, detailed her trauma in a recent op-ed for Teen Vogue that was as transparent as it is poignant. RELATED:  What You Need To Know About Ford And Kavanaugh’s Senate Testimonies In reaction to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford ‘s sexual assault testimony about now-confirmed Supreme Court judge  Brett Kavanaugh  last month, Stenberg shared the difficult parts of her past. Her accounts of two sexual assaults were detailed and emotional. “My breath was the tool I relied on when I ended up in a foreign country on a three-hour train ride to find an emergency contraceptive,” Stenberg said. “The night before, what started as a consensual experience had turned forceful. Painful things had been done to my body that made me feel broken and disposable. I was unable to consent to them, and was silenced verbally and physically when I protested.” “The moment you speak out about assault, you’ve entered a battle where you’ve been appointed defender of your own legitimacy.” https://t.co/v9PGcZmHxa — Teen Vogue (@TeenVogue) October 8, 2018 Stenberg carefully explained how she was confronted by a myriad of feelings: guilt, shame, blame and vulnerability. She then spoke up for survivors who have to find their voice after trauma. “The moment you speak out about assault, you’ve entered a battle where you’ve been appointed defender of your own legitimacy,” Stenberg said. “You are given the responsibility of, after having just been subjected to devastating trauma, navigating impossible protocols, lest you be charged as the culprit in your own attack. You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t … We should not be condemned for being unsure of how to move through pain.” Stenberg acknowledged her pain, thanked Dr. Ford’s and other survivors’ for sharing their stories and offered encouraging and healing words to those who have experienced assault. In return, many people have taken to social media to thank the actress. “To whomever may need to know this: It is not your fault. It is not your responsibility to figure this out by yourself. It is not your responsibility to sacrifice your comfort to gratify others.” Thank you @amandlastenberg for speaking out. Uuh, Uncomfortable Or Nah? Brett Kavanaugh Hires All-Women Law Clerks

Photo by Alex Wong/Getty Images Apparently, They Ain’t Scurred Many people across America were devastated on Saturday when Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in as the 114th Supreme Court justice. The man was accused of sexual assault and misconduct causing woman and allies across the country to protest his nomination. Yet, the guy still secured the judge spot….and on top of this, he’s hired all-women law clerks, according to The New York Times . Kavanaugh becomes the first Supreme Court judge to ever do this. He’s carrying out a statement he made during his second Senate Judiciary Committee hearing where he testified on allegations of sexual assault against him by Christine Blasey Ford . Kavanaugh pointed out his record of hiring female law clerks as a way to defend his respect for women. Now whether he’s providing a safe work environment for these women is a totally different story. The law clerks are made up of Shannon Grammel, Megan Lacy and one of Kavanaugh’s former clerks from the D.C. Circuit Court, Kim Jackson . The fourth clerk, Sara Nommensen , is a former student of Kavanaugh’s from Harvard Law School. She previously worked at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel. According to a Guardian report, a Yale Law School professor, Amy Chua , allegedly advised female students who wanted to work with Kavanaugh to mind what they wear. She allegedly said it’s “not an accident” that Kavanaugh’s female law clerks “looked like models.” Chau later denied the report, saying in a statement to The Guardian that Kavanaugh “only hires those who are extraordinarily qualified.” Mhm. According to  The National Law Journal , Kavanaugh hired 25 women and 23 men while he was an appeals court judge on the D.C. Circuit. Most of the women have supported Kavanaugh during the sexual assault allegations against him. Eighteen of them signed a letter supporting his Supreme Court confirmation.

Civil Rights Groups Use Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court Confirmation To Rally Voter Turnout

View post:

T he NAACP urged voter to “harness our frustration and use our voices at the ballot box in November,” after the U.S. Senate confirmed Judge Brett Kavanaugh on Saturday, largely along party lines, to the U.S. Supreme Court. The conservative-dominate high court now completes the Republicans’ stranglehold on all three branches of the federal government. SEE ALSO: Caucasian Rage! From Kavanaugh To Trump, When White Men Attack In a sharply worded statement, the NAACP criticized the Senate’s Republican majority for hastily pushing through Kavanaugh’s confirmation despite serious concerns about the judge. “The NAACP condemns this reckless and deeply partisan rush to confirm Kavanaugh after critical issues were raised about his integrity, temperament, impartiality, history of sexual assault, and judicial record,” said Derrick Johnson , the NAACP’s president and CEO. “There is far too much at stake for every community not to have fully reviewed this nominee for the highest court in the land who will chart our future for a generation.” The U.S. Senate’s decision confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court is a devastating blow to our democracy. It threatens the integrity and legitimacy of the Senate and the Supreme Court as institutions. #Kavanaugh #temperament was the issue. https://t.co/5bYYTr4wuu — Derrick Johnson (@DerrickNAACP) October 6, 2018 The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee had paused the confirmation process on Sept. 28 for one week to allow the FBI to look into  Christine Blasey Ford ’s allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were in high school. During the investigation, Democrats complained that the GOP directed the agency to conduct a very limited probe, as several other women came forward with allegations similar to Ford’s. By Friday, the Republicans declared that the FBI had not found any corroborating witnesses. In a 50-48 vote, the Senate confirmed Kavanaugh, delivering a major victory for President Donald Trump and conservatives who have long coveted control of the U.S. Supreme Court. “There is no check-and-balance in American government. You have one party now in total control of all three branches of government. You have a one-party rule system. The only thing that will break it up is if some folks come out and vote and at least turn the legislative branch around,” said the Rev. Al Sharpton , founder and president of the National Action Network, on Saturday. Talking about Kavanaugh and the threat of there being no checks and balances with all 3 branches of government run by 1 party if the GOP dominate midterm elections. It is imperative that we vote 11/6. #NANSaturdayActionRally @ImpactTVNetwork @1190amwlib @NationalAction pic.twitter.com/zQkecsxYwN — Reverend Al Sharpton (@TheRevAl) October 6, 2018 Civil rights lawyers raised concerns about what’s ahead, given Kavanaugh’s judicial record and the political bias he revealed during his confirmation hearing. “It is hard to imagine how civil rights lawyers and those committed to fighting for equal justice under law will be able to appear before him and believe that they are getting a fair shot,” said Kristen Clarke , president and executive director of Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Megyn Kelly on Matt Lauer: I Know ALL His Skeletons!

Megyn Kelly has made it very clear that she thinks Brett Kavanaugh is innocent. The embattled Supreme Court nominee has said so himself, after all . But Matt Lauer, however? Kelly isn’t about to let her fellow journalist off the hook that easily. Lauer, of course, was dismissed by NBC close to a year ago after multiple accusations of sexual misconduct were made about him. The firing was swift and shocking, with executives arriving at their decision not long ater learing of one complaint; telling the public they presumed many more were out there; and letting Lauer go from his post as main Today Show anchor after many years on the job as a result. Just a few months later, Kelly came on board NBC. She made the move after a polarizing and popular stint at Fox News and now hosts her very own (low-rated) hour of Today. So these reporters, both controversial for very different reasons, have been like two ships crossing in the daytime television night. Or something to that effect. Over the past several weeks, there have been a few frightening rumors about Lauer making a return to TV in some fashion. According to a previous Page Six reports, Lauer told a few women who recently approached him that he has been busy fathering, but told these fans not to “worry” because he’ll “be back” on the small screen soon. Does this mean he’s had active discussions with networks? Does it mean he has a story to tell that will exonerate him from all allegations? Does it mean that Lauer thinks people simply don’t believe he supposed raped someone ? It’s unclear. When asked during an interview with Us Weekly if she thought Lauer should come back to the public eye after his fall from grace Kelly said she would not really comment. But she did add the following: “I know too much that others don’t know.” Whoa there. Interesting, right? There’s already A LOT that the public either knows or assumes, based on various rumors and articles. For example: Lauer supposedly made employees feel very uncomfortable by pulling out sex toys in front of them. He also made unwanted advances toward them. And he also had an affair with an underling named Addie Zinone, who actually sat down awhile back with Kelly. When asked if she garnered any backlash for having a woman on her show who had slept with the recently-fired face of NBC daytime, Kelly replied: “All I’m going to say is that I feel very strongly about the #MeToo coverage, the importance of doing it without fear or favor. I didn’t let anyone stop me at Fox, and I’m not going to let anyone stop me at NBC.” Kelly, who previously had spoken out about harassment she endured while employed by former Fox boss Roger Ailes, went on to explain that she believes some men who commit sexual misconduct could “potentially” have second chances in the public eye. She explained her side as follows: “I feel it’s a case-by-case basis. I don’t think we need to see Harvey Weinstein in polite society ever again, but I don’t think that’s true of everyone. I think, for some of these guys, there’s a way forward. “I happen to believe it starts with a full-throated apology, and not just this paper statement of, ‘I did some things wrong and I’m sorry.’” Seems like another shot fired at Lauer, right? This is what he wrote back in late November: There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC. Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly. Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job. The last two days have forced me to take a very hard look at my own troubling flaws. It’s been humbling. I am blessed to be surrounded by the people I love. I thank them for their patience and grace.

Georgia Removed Scores Of Voter From Its Rolls As Stacey Abrams Tries To Make History, Lawsuit Says

More:

G eorgia’s Republican secretary of state, who’s competing against Stacey Abrams for governor, allegedly oversaw the removal of thousands of likely Abrams supporters from the state’s voting rolls. See Also: GOP Ramps Up Voter Suppression Efforts Ahead Of Upcoming Elections A group of voting rights organizations announced a lawsuit on Tuesday against Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp for using a racially-biased method that has purged about 700,000 voters ahead of the Nov. 6 midterm elections, WXIA-TV reported. The organizations reportedly include Jesse Jackson ’s Rainbow-PUSH Coalition, the Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Kemp has failed to notify the affected voters who will likely be turned away at the polls on Election Day, the suit alleged. “What has taken place here in Georgia is an insult to all of the efforts and accomplishments that we have done throughout this country,”  Charles Steele , president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, said at a press conference Tuesday about the Black struggle to win voting rights. This comes as Abrams attempts to make history as the nation’s first elected Black female governor. Civil rights lawsuit filed against Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp | WJBF https://t.co/j7jGoqjV3D — The Voting News (@VotingNews) October 3, 2018 This case is part of a larger Republican voter suppression effort, according to activists. In June, the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 split decision, approved Ohio’s practice of removing registered voters from its rolls if they haven’t participated in recent elections. About a dozen other states controlled by Republicans wanted to adopt Ohio’s system following the court’s ruling. “Georgia has been more aggressive than Ohio in removing names,” Nse Ufot , executive director of New Georgia Project, told NewsOne , adding that the practice disproportionately affects people of color. Her organization “stands in solidarity” with the groups that filed the suit. Kemp is accused of using the Interstate Voter Registration Crosscheck Program to maintain Georgia’s list of eligible voters. The inaccurate system is seriously flawed , Ufot said. Meanwhile, Kemp has vehemently denied the voter suppression allegation, claiming in a statement that the lawsuit “has no merit” because Georgia hasn’t used the Crosscheck Program. Real Friends: Two Of Brett Kavanaugh’s Former College Friends Accuse Him Of Committing Perjury During His Testimony [Video]

SplashNews.com Two Of Brett Kavanaugh’s College Friends Accused Him Of Committing Perjury Two of Brett Kavanaugh’s old college friends (Liz Swisher and Lynne Brookes) accused him of committing perjury during his testimony for the Senate Judiciary Committee. Kavanaugh, who’s being accused of sexually assaulting at least three women, claimed he barely drank alcohol in college during his hearing, but his former friends determined that was a lie. “I was appalled. He was clearly lying and it was incredibly disturbing to see somebody perjuring themselves who’s in line to be a Supreme Court justice,” said Swisher, who was roommates with one of Kavanaugh’s accusers. One of his accusers backed the claim by adding, “The reason that I decided to speak out was when he gave the Fox News interview and as I said in The Washington Post tried to paint himself as a choir boy where all he did was study and play sports and every once in awhile he would have a beer and that simply not consistent with the Brett Kavanaugh that I knew in college.”

White People Are Willing To Sacrifice White People To Uphold White Supremacy

Read the original:

W e have to wait a week until we find out if Brett Kavanaugh will be on the Supreme Court as Republican Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake  pushed to delay the vote while the FBI investigates claims of the judge’s alleged previous sexual misconduct. Here's that moment from Jeff Flake. “I think it would be proper to delay the floor vote for up to but not more than one week, in order to let the FBI do an investigation, limited in time and scope to the current allegations that are there.” (via Fox) pic.twitter.com/3t6kKMo1d5 — Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) September 28, 2018 This is a good thing. But, in the grand scheme, this doesn’t imbue me with any hope because everything that was true before Flake made his decision still stands. Kavanaugh had affirmative votes from a near majority of a group of mostly white male Republicans who have heard Dr. Christine Blasey Ford ’s account of Kavanaugh attempting to rape her when they were in high school. The reason Kavanaugh is getting these votes has nothing to do with anyone’s belief that he’s innocent – that’s immaterial to the people in power at the GOP; it’s because he would surely use his seat to uphold white supremacy. Kavanaugh is almost assuredly going to pull back on voting rights, women’s rights and LGBT rights. Plus, he’ll probably do his best to ensure Donald Trump never faces impeachment or jail time. That’s all that matters to those voting for him. These senators have decided that Kavanaugh’s apparent promises of advancing white supremacist ideals are worth all of the pain everyone, especially Dr. Ford, has faced. Because if there’s one thing that’s clear about white America, it’s that they are willing to sacrifice their own to uphold the idea of white power. And this isn’t new. White people – men and women – voted in a majority for Donald Trump, who has more than a dozen accusations of sexual assault on his back. The same Donald Trump who admitted, on camera, that he grabs women by their vaginas without consent. In Alabama, failed Senate hopeful Roy Moore also got the majority of the white vote despite multiple claims that he raped underage girls. The message was clear: Moore and Trump’s political positions, which have largely revolved around racism, xenophobia and violence against anyone who isn’t a white man, spoke louder than violence against women. Unyielding faith in white supremacy is, of course, an act of self-destruction. It goes without saying that a world built on equality, meritocracy and love is a world where everybody wins. But the American pathos means not seeing victory unless there’s someone who is losing. There is no victory without someone being defeated. Native Americans had to die for the country to be formed. Africans had to be enslaved for the country to be built. White men and women had to die in a war to uphold a region’s desire to own slaves. Scores of white men and women have been killed in a war built on the economic desires of a few rich white men. Poor people have to lose their jobs and brave poverty to show China who’s boss. These are the sacrifices that must be made for America – white America – to succeed. And for everybody else to lose. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford was just the latest sacrifice to be made. She is the most recent white American who white Americans felt comfortable casting aside for decades of laws that theoretically make white Americans great again. The irony here is that the sacrifices won’t end. There is no line of no return for white people when it comes to casting aside fellow white folks for whiteness. White supremacists are happy to march on the front lines for white supremacy knowing that they are going to be the first ones trampled. They’ll even sacrifice their own children for the cause. Right? a Trump supporter on MSNBC told her daughters that men groping women is “no big deal” pic.twitter.com/QbYubOJpXl — Caleb Ecarma (@calebecarma) September 26, 2018 I never really had much faith in the majority of white Americans to do the right thing for the rest of us. I’ve seen too many police go free after murdering black men and women. I’ve seen too many juries lean towards the wrong end of justice. I’ve seen too many votes placed in Congress that have ruined whole communities. And I saw what happened in November of 2016 . The best course of action is to act under the presumption that white America will vote for white supremacy at the expense of everyone else and be pleasantly surprised when they don’t. I’ve seen enough to know that white supremacy doesn’t care if the world burns as long as white people get to smell everyone else’s ashes first. The empty Supreme Court seat and whoever occupies it is only further proof of that fact.
